Good morning, my dears. I may not go to flower arranging this afternoon. My knee and thigh were painful yesterday. And are not much better this morning. I think it was from the driving.
Tracey: No job is worth the anxiety you are experiencing. Your bosses should not be allowing this woman to get away with her hateful ways.
Michele: It’s an azalea. There are lots of buds stil to come.
Vicki: Two great looking guys. You are right to feel proud of them.
Allie: I agree with the others about Miles. He is such an active wee lad. It won’t help them if you collapse from fatigue.
We had torrential rain yesterday, and showers are forecast for today. Planning to work on my crochet.
Time to get up and move.
Hugs and prayers for those who need them.

I'm giving myself a physical rest day today.
I just did some recumbent cycling as that's just like sitting in an armchair. No floor exercises. I will stroll around to the postbox with my brother's birthday card after lunch. My flower cards I had printed.
Yesterday, on the way to French Circle, I bought the frame I'm going to put his picture in. It's a square shape. This afternoon I might play with a few sketches of the huts for proportion. I'm thinking of doing the little figures of him and his wife separately and collaging them on. That way I can make lots of mistakes and not worry about mucking it up. I quite like that effect.
This morning I was awake early, so I did the bookings for the excursions in Norway. 36 hours after they dropped through our letterbox, the two I was most keen on were booked up. I booked alternatives, but they may make more places available and there is a window of cancellation up to 48 hours before the excursion. At least DH got his two hikes! These old people are quick off the mark!
Some of the excursions are free, but the others add up! I'm very much hoping that they put on another troll tractor across the glacier!
I'm going to email Rori as she will be leaving for her trip soon, and read a bit of DDIL's book. Otherwise, peace, I hope.

I have a very difficult time separating the years of how people are lazy and abusing the system if they go on stress leave and understanding that it is truly necessary.
Karen - thank you so much. I did all I could to have things organized for anyone needing to take over my duties. I have my doctors note now, I just need to send it in.
I had my doctors appointment today and I am officially on sick leave for 6 weeks. She actually is concerned about my stress level and wants me to really rest for a couple of weeks and not to worry about a job immediately. She will see me in 4 weeks and will probably extend it.
I sent the letter off at 830 this evening and I’m shutting my phone off over night.
I am still having palpitations and a terrible feeling of dread. It will probably take some time to get over it.

Moving to Australia helped me feel comfortable with the idea of taking time off. There's not the 'work till you drop' attitude here. People are encouraged to take all kinds of leave ... annual leave, sick leave (including stress leave), carer's leave, personal development and study leave, long service leave, etc. etc.
I am glad that you are getting a decent chunk of leave now. Are you able to go somewhere for that first week or two ... like a shoulder season trip to the mountains or something?
At the very least make sure you enjoy the great outdoors ... go for walks in the spring sunshine.
I would recommend contacting your EAP organisation as well and seeing if you can set up an appointment with a psychologist or similar as well.

Tracey- good for you.. I was darn close to where you were..and Im hoping you can finally get some peace..yes something relaxing is in order..
Now my thighs are hurting all the time and its probably because im picking up a sack of potatoes every day...
I love this little boy dearly but its getting harder and harder to deal with.7 -
Tracey, dear heart - I am so very pleased that you are on leave for six weeks and (hopefully) even more. A doctor who can actually hear you and understands is rare, and I'm so pleased that you have them on your side. I'm hoping you can feel the gentle hugs from here. Just breathe some free air, rest, spend time with your grands, and take care of you. Remember to answer phone calls only from family and friends!
Rosemarie - If you didn't take measurements when you began your exercise routines, it might help to take them now to give yourself a different way to measure your losses. Your body shifts and adjusts when your calories drop and your activity goes up. Your measurements may well show changes before the scale does. Perseverance is the key. Ignore the scale for a bit and give things time... hard to do, but rewarding in the end.
Terri - Rainy weather affects my joints even more than the cold, and probably isn't helping your knee and thigh. Take care of you...
Heather - Glad to see you taking a physical rest day too, my friend. The family looks absolutely wonderful, and well done for Jessamy! Glad she gave you your due... you and Johnny have really been there for her as she pushed the book over the finish line.
Rori - Glad you're healing! 80% of you is better than most...Hope the trip is wonderful...
Allie - I hope you can help Tracy understand that you need to be grandma instead of daycare, but I know it's a hard conversation to have...
I fell into a trap yesterday that I am well aware of--letting my expectations outrun reality, and then feeling broken when my expectations were violated. This applies to the medical establishment, as well as people, and I have been reminded of it over and over again in these last years. I went into the CT scan expecting verification of something that could well be the genesis for most of my issues, and didn't get that validation. I know better. Doesn't mean it didn't hit me hard, but it does mean that like a Weeble, I've wobbled back upright. Because nothing's changed now doesn't mean nothing will.
And in one of my usual side trips, from 1970, here are the Weebles I remember... Never actually got one, but was utterly fascinated by the idea of them. Holy guacamole, that was 53 years ago. Now I really do feel old, but it might bring a smile:
Once more unto the breach dear friends, once more...
Love y'all,
Lisa

A thought from Dr Rangan Chatterjee. I am finding that all the mini decisions that I have to make every second of the day, instead of living naturally, is extremely tiring. Plus the nag of pain, like a headache. But I really can't do anything without having to think about it. And having to give it several tries.
This too shall pass.
I also found this one that I try to live by.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Heather, I have long acknowledged the agony of decision fatigue and have simplified my life as much as possible. I don't have the challenges of job, travel, and family that many people have but even when my life was more complex, I tried to eliminate making choices as much as possible.
Allie, Your daughter and SIL have dropped a lot of their parenting responsibilities on you. Only you can save yourself. They will take advantage of you as long as you let them. They went through great expense and emotional pain to have a child, they should be caring for him.
Lisa, Many hugs to you as you walk this frustrating path.
Tracey, Don't feel dread, feel delight that you sent off that letter and have your time off. Take life one day at a time.

For bruises and falls I am a fan of Arnica as long as you are not on a blood thinner. I used it after my fall and gave it to DrewB after she hurt her leg falling off a curb wrong.
(((Tracey)))
Over did yesterday because we had a nice day. I did stop and stretched more and drank more water. Also took Bach flower remedy before bed. Only one minor cramp during the night. I need to remember to pace myself and keep saying to myself it will get done. Part of putting in extra it was not buggy. The mosquitoes will be here within the next week!
When I make choices in a field of many I try to eliminate as many of the choices as I can to get it down to three. I make my choice from those and try to make peace with the opportunity cost. The opportunity cost is the choice you gave up in making the choice you did. I learned that in the economic workshop for teaching economics for children. Some decisions are easier to process than others. For the most part I am usually happy with the decisions I make today because I have a firmer grasp of what I am looking for before making a choice.
Allie I can hear how much you enjoy taking care of Miles. I agree with others that to keep that enjoyment it is better to cut back to two to three days a week. If you end up sick or worse because of how much it takes to watch him now then the choice will be taken from you. You still will be saving your daughter money and having Miles will continue to be a joy. Miles is your daughter's responsibility. Your job is to be the grandma.3 -

That's one of the reasons why some of us are encouraging you to be still for a couple days. Relax. Put your feet up. Rest. Get more sleep. Be comfortable.
Give your body the best conditions in which to recover for a day or two.

Boy, is my age showing! I am vaccuming and mopping the hardwood floors in the den and after moving the furniture I am exhausted! Gone are the days when I could clean my house from top to bottom on a Saturday!

Carol: Caring for my husband, I wasn't sure if it was the stress or long hours of caregiving that was causing fatigue or the natural aging process over the years I cared for him. Now I must admit some of it was the natural aging process. Volunteering at the animal rescue to clean The Cat House has been an eye opener. I must get down on the floor and up about 7 to 10 times to clean the litter pans. Then I sweep and mop. It is about 2 hours of cleaning. I am quite tired afterwards. Some of this might be my weight. At home I take frequent breaks, so I don't notice the cleaning as much.
It is an adjustment. I tend to want to be on the go and must learn to slow down a little bit.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia8 -
11. Look around for things that give you a sense of awe and wonder. Sunlight, wind in the trees, brilliant ruby throated humming bird, blue sea and sky all right outside my window. Thanks be.
Routine: when I let it get disrupted, things fall off. Overslept a good deep dreamless sleep. Was so focused on prepping for my second to last fire district meeting, forgot to weigh in. Chose to skip PT for the second time this week. Dusting self off and getting back on the PT wagon!
Welcome @lightstrongma !
Ginny thought gout presented as pain in one swollen toe? He just reports “foot pain” and has been unwilling or unable to provide details. MD seems to think its pre-diabetic related neuropathy and prescribed gabapentin at one time. Joe’s off the gabapentin (as well as the brandy) and reports a change to an occasional stab instead of all day pain. I’m grateful he’s shared even that much, had no idea he was in pain all day every day. :{
Unfamiliar with the term state pharmacy. Affiliated with the state government? OR just a regional/state level company? Or? Thank you so much for your interest and information! Good luck with those work issues this week.
Allie so sorry to hear you’re in pain. Not being able to sleep makes pain that much worse. ((gentle hugs))
Katla hooray for new friends! (and the library ;> )
Carol yours to Allie, yes this.
Vicki wow, you have much to be proud of!
Michele, your pool looks so very very inviting! Sorry to hear Vince is skimping on the at home PT. Hope he catches heck from the therapist  I’m not an expert but IF it is an azalea, it might benefit from more shade and more acidic soil Could it be anything else?
Mary hope you can enjoy your bike ride, despite the wind. Understand about “dry heat”, what would kill me in St. Louis was almost comfortable in Boise.
Vicki wish our local town’s 911 dispatch operators got that much training. Know it’s a struggle to extract accurate information from panicked callers. Problem is there are four methods of alerting our fire volunteers: siren, pagers, text and Active 911. Mostly they manage to trigger the siren and send out a page. Our mountains make pager reception poor to none. Text goes only to a select few officers. All volunteers can get Active 911 alerts, when they are sent. Unfortunately, when the dispatchers are too stressed to trigger text and Active 911, our volunteers have to call in to get the info, making more calls to answer and more stress. It seems to me that there should be a way to semi-automate the process, that the operator could somehow voice record the information and simultaneously transmit the recording to pagers, text/voicemail and Active 911, but then it’s probably not easy to do or they would have done it already. :{
Heatherthe family pic. The grands look so sophisticated! Sorry you didn’t get the excursions you wanted. Fingers X’d for the additional troll tractor.
Pip good talkin’! Now talk me into getting up off my butt and doing my PT
Lisa Pfaugh. Praying your guardian angel comes through. That romper room viedow was in color?!? When I was watching Miss Nancy, the show was in black and white. Now who’s feeling old :}
Rosemarie you may need more time to sleep and recover for the years of caregiving. After Papa passed, Mama slept most of an entire summer.
Rori sounds like appropriate alternative rX to me, especially the chair
Tracey there will always be those who take advantage and abuse systems that are crucial to the well being of others. You are NOT like that. So grateful your doctor is concerned and taking appropriate action. Believe the palpitations and dread will fade as you walk, craft and spend time with Rodger and the grands. (((hugs held extra long))).
Terri yours to Allie too. Truth this. Sorry to hear your outing caused you leg pain. Hope it eases soon and doesn’t impact your recovery.
Machkahearing about the sensible attitude in Oz about leave. So alien to me who worked in the opposite environment. The Japanese I worked with had a saying for those who did drop (dead) from overwork, they called it “Dr. Stop.”
Margaret “…your job is to be the grandma” Love this.
Beth yours to Tracey, well said.
Whoops, is that pip’s boot I hear behind me? On my way!05/10: Move: 0 sets PT, line dance class. steps:5836:p
Fuel: plants running count for week so far:14+4 almonds, apple, avocado, beets, black bean/lime soup, celery, maple syrup, oats, peanut brittle, pecans, radishes, raisins, romaine, scallions, soy breakfast patties, tangerines, walnuts, wheat-cookies/cake. CI=1222 CO=399
Live: Joe, readings, BP, board meeting prep and meeting, AF. Wt: oops!
Later, lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD
