    Ginny - Barbie - Pip - Heather - Machka and you other walkers out there - what kind of shoes are you wearing these days? I'm in a fairly new pair of New Balance with Powerstep insoles. My right foot has been bothering me - I think when I broke my baby toe a year ago I might have done a little other damage. I hadn't been wearing the Powerstep in my right shoe, but I'm going to. I put them in tonight.

    I think I replied: Hoka trail running shoes.

    I also walk using relatively inexpensive men's hiking shoes from one of our department stores. I get them in a men's size 7 which is a little bit big for me, then I put my orthotics in them.

    Meanwhile, on Friday as the dust of the week began to settle, I did manage to find two pair of dress shoes which I think will do.

    Yes.

    Actually, once you get away from real tea (black, green), often the other "teas" are a little bit sweeter.

    For example lemon ginger is not too bitter either.

    But rooibos is sweetish and is especially nice with the orange and cinnamon and a few other flavours, rather than just on its own.


    A. I somehow convinced myself that I should serve the kiwi I bought so it wouldn't go bad. So then I ate a bit, which wasn't too bad.

    Kiwi is low cal ... it's a good fruit to eat when limiting calories.

    Congratulations if you had weight loss this week!

    Mine stayed the same because of reduced exercise and wonky eating.


    Hoping next week will be better. Back to my usual eating pattern at least.

    Regarding shoes—I wear SASS shoes & they’ve been sturdy and comfortable. They’re great for long walks.

    Machka—I hope your bruising is healing well & you can & go about your daily routine. Fingers crossed that you don’t need surgery. 🤞🏻

    1. Take a small step to help overcome a problem or worry. I am working on helping my son through this tough time by being in contact with his case worker and tracking his location.
    2. Adopt a growth mindset. Change “I can’t” into “I can’t…yet”. I try to never use those words. I follow Yoda’s ‘Do or not, there is no try”
    3. Be willing to ask for help when you need it. I will. My back hurts today so will easily ask for help when I need it.
    4. Find something to look forward to today. Missed posting this yesterday. So today I am looking forward to my therapy session.
    5. Get the basics right: eat well, exercise and go to bed on time. Will do!
    6. Pause, breathe, and feel your feet firmly on the ground. Will meditate today to help me do this.
    7. Shift your mood by doing something you really enjoy. I really need to do this today. Did not do this. Had a bad day all around yesterday.
    8. Avoid saying “must” or “should” to yourself today. I will try.
    9. Put a problem in perspective by seeing the bigger picture. Trying to see my son’s decisions through his eyes.
    10. Reach out to someone you trust and share your feelings with them. I did not do this.
    11. Look for something positive in a difficult situation. My son is bonding with his uncle and grandmother.
    12. Write you worries down and save them for a specific “worry time”. I will try to remember to do this. Write them in my journal.
    13. Challenge negative thoughts. Find an alternative interpretation. I worked on this. I also learned a breathing technique to help.
    14. Get outside and move to help clear your head. I do this every day, but the triple digit heat is preventing it.
    15. Set yourself an achievable goal and take the first step. I have to think about this.
    16. Find fun ways to distract yourself from unhelpful thoughts.
    17. Use one of your strengths to overcome a challenge today.
    18. Let go of the small stuff and focus on the things that matter.
    19. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.
    20. When things go wrong, pause and be kind to yourself.
    21. Identify what helped you get through a tough time in your life.
    22. Find 3 things you feel hopeful about and write them down.
    23. Remember that all feelings and situations pass in time.
    24. Choose to see something good about what has gone wrong.
    25. Notice when you are being judge mental and be kind instead.
    26. Catch yourself over-reacting and take a deep breath.
    27. Write down 3 things you are grateful for (even if today was hard).
    28. Think about what you can learn about a recent problem.
    29. Be a realistic optimist. Focus on what could go right.,
    30. Reach out to a friend, family member, or colleague for support.
    31. Remember we all struggle at times. It’s part of being human.

    Speaking up and saying no, or making my wishes known on any level is something brand new for me.
    If Ezie's mom hadn't brought it up yesterday of what her mom wants her to do, I would have still been waiting to tell her about what my plans were, pushing it off another month.
    I have either taught preschool or did daycare for the past 42 yrs so totally stopping is going to be a bit strange at first but if it happens now, I am ok with it. I may just take some time off and after the first of the year, look for another family but then again, by then, I might be liking this total retirement too much and not want it,even if it does mean loosing the write offs and extra income.

    Machka - That is so annoying about the knee. Just when you had got into a great routine. Life sends us lessons!! I hope it clears up quickly. With my wrist, I don't think people realise just how all encompassing it is. It affects so much more than the one body part. Everything is connected. Including our mental state.

    Barbie-Tom has had an electric car since 2016 and loves it.. i think he has to put gas in it maybe once a year.. its a Chevy Volt so it runs both.. but .. he has had 2.. and swears by them..my friend Janet has a Tesla..
