Bravo! Auntie Pip! It’s a wonderful thing you are doing for Addison.
Machka: Good news on the gynae front. Love all your motivational graphics.
Beth: We learn to live with our men’s foibles 😝

Pip-what a great thing to do for Addison-especially after she put forth the effort. We all know a decent pair of shoes makes all the difference.
Lisa-I am in awe of your battle with Verizon. The company drives me crazy. I know I pay more than anyone should (or rather, their costs are more than they should be). I have chipped away at their costs. One problem is the line I provide for SIL-verizon does provide the most stable coverage where she lives out in the country. Others are improving in my county but the other providers still have some service holes. I keep monitoring. I have no landline.
Machka-don't remember if I mentioned good news on gyn-onco visit. That can provide some relief to you. You provide some of the neatest memes. I never know where to find them or how to copy.
Rebecca-the tree episode does sound a bit different. Could well be medication/alcohol mix. Of course, I have to admit my mind went to perhaps spirits in the area! (I have always thought there is more than we can directly see-ye-I'm one of those weirdos!)
Heather-I hope you are able to provide a good sounding board to L. Is there a way she could move into more of a community living situation (similar to Karen and what I am looking at? The would give her more regular contact with others. Not sure what is available in UK.
Margaret-I agree with your red flag. It is causing me to keep organizing and sorting. It is better than it was but still a work in progress.
Terri-I think I need to check out Jame Clear.
Debbie-No real clue on Amazfit. Honestly didn't know about it so I had to google-looks like you would need to use a google app to bridge between the two . . .
Working from home today. Hope to take some time off today since I am working at a public event we have tomorrow and it will be most of my day. I am behind on so much but getting off even 2-3 hours will work. It will let me get some Saturday chores done today so I don't feel so behind. For now-time for sunrise walk. That may be my keystone. I ams still reflecting on that.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Pip - I agree with Kim that you're giving Addison something very important- the links between food, fitness and health are key to where we all are now. The shoes are pretty spiffy too. Plus, a relationship between the two of you is a good thing. I never had an adult relative that mentored me in anything, and I'm glad she's got one in you!
Barbara, Rebecca : Corey brews only IPAs at this point, and seems to have enormous fun with each three-gallon brew. I like seeing him do something he truly enjoys that he is making solely for his own benefit (even more bitter than green vegetables to my palate.) I will take a sip and make a comment on how it varies from the last one, or try to. Oats or barley added in the brewing mellow them out enormously, for instance, and different amounts and types of yeasts and type of hops and so on, as well as time in the fermenter, time in the bottle. He's really looking forward to sharing his latest batch with son John when they get here--He can talk to me about it, but John actually likes IPAs and is/was a quasi-chef.
Slept a bit over five hours last night! At first light, I'll get a quilt and rugs out on the line while it's still cool... they won't dry 'til the afternoon due to the humidity, but I'm not in a hurry.
The quilt is more than 30 years old, and is a quite worn in many areas, especially the edges. I have dragged two of them all over the world with me--one is a wedding ring quilt pattern and one a fan quilt. Threw them in the car with me when I left my first husband in 2008. These are examples of the patterns and the colors, muted colors on bright white/cream backgrounds:
Even though they were quilted by hand, they have no intrinsic value. I believe I paid $25 at Walmart, and they were probably made in the Middle East somewhere at the time. But as blankets, they're about to fall apart. So... One of those many projects I'm sorting through was to make chair cushions for three bar stools and four chairs, and I've procrastinated on it since I left work three years ago now. Was still turning over how I wanted to make them. Simple sewing, just mulling over the design. But now, I'm going to try "upcycling" one of the quilts into a set of seat cushions, and if it works, will do the other as well. Makes me happy, that.
Off to the races... it's just now getting light, time to find my rubber boots and get things hung out.
Happily padding around in Arkansas until the heat comes slamming down a few hours from now... and then working inside in the cool again.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Made all the beds. Found towels for everyone. Cleaned bathrooms. Went shopping. Now to make the beef stew. I've decided it will be more restful for everyone to have that tonight, and we can decide together what to do for tomorrow night.
Feeling ok now that I've got most of the logistics sorted. DH takes a lot of the load once the kids arrive. I do the worrying and planning.
All good.
Ginny - She has not a lot of money or income though she does own an inexpensive cottage in West Wales. Not enough for a retirement community.

Today is her last day and her 1st wearing her new shoes. Almost $160 but will b worth it for her8

Lisa--What a great gift you are giving Addison and I pray she will keep up the work and be able to come again.
Well yesterday went down hill really fast. I was at work and starting feeling really strange. Got to where I could not get my eyes to ajust to the computer screen and got really shaking. So called DH and he brought over my machine to test my blood sugar. I usually test every morning and even when sick or been on steroids before it never goes above 190. It was 283 and scared me. I called the doctor and he called in a pill which then dropped it to 90 in less than an hour. I did leave work 2 hours early and DH stayed with me. It was a rough night and this morning it is 152. Did not get much sleep and so glad I am off at noon today. The doctor wants me to finish the steroids, which will be done tomorrow. I am doing a lot of rethinking my eating pattern and the stress of work as I know that did not help any. Looking forward to resting tomorrow and get to feeling better. DH did go to Hobby Lobby for me last evening and pickup 10 more photo storage boxes. I am excited to get started and at the same time sadd to know the albums with go in the trash.
Have a good weekend ladies. Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE where they are talking a big rain storm today, but so far going around us.8 -
Pip - did she lose weight? I am sure she believes more in her abilities.

That was scary, Vicki. Glad you could get help.
I'm going to see if my blood test results are on my record yet.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx0 -
Most results are 'satisfactory'. My chlorestorol is just a bit above ideal, but they say, no action required.
Blood sugar is 'normal'
So, all good!
I'm thinking my blood pressure, that I took myself, was acceptable, though not optimal.
So, I'm all set. I take 10 mgs Amlodipine daily.

Hi everyone
I would love to join this discussion. I went through some the the earlier posts and found them very inspirational.
Barbie "The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of non-essentials." - that's a wonderful quote. I have been trying to follow it too.

Rebecca I like Clausthaler AF beer, the dry-hopped/amber flavor. A friend recently recommended Athletic Brewing's line of AF beers, sometimes available at Grocery Outlet, but haven’t tried them yet. They do have an IPA…

I'm also thinking the neighbors. The kids are still out of school, and the reflection on the opposite side of the wall from the window would not have been our tree next to our house but another tree. It was a puzzlement! I like your spirit reason.😁

Vicki - I hope your granddaughter’s parents calm down soon.
Barbie - I believe you are right. I need to get my photos organized.
Pip - you are doing so much for your niece. Is she close enough you could meet her regularly? Will anyone else be willing to walk with her?
I am following all of the organizing discussions. I have to get through my hope chest, it house all the family history including those diaries I keep meaning to write about.
I don’t think I knew how stressed and overwhelmed I was from work, I feel like I’m starting to get my old head back. I am stressing about about the financial aspect of me going to school.
I figure there must be a plan somewhere to get us through or I wouldn’t have had everything else fall in place so easily.
Lisa - I am always amazed at sizing for women’s clothes. The tshirts I bought to make for the girls and I for our sleepover a few weeks ago were mostly XL and 2XL. My son in law overheard the conversation one of the girls and I were having and went a little crazy about the sizing. He made us feel very good about our sizes and angry at the manufacturer. He actually took one of his men’s t shirts. his size medium was our size 2XL. It makes no sense. Funnily enough one of the girls is a paramedic that has worked with him and in an emergency one time she was able to wear his uniform shirt. She was one that needed the 2XL in these shirts.
I swear they do it to make us feel worse about ourselves so I have quit worrying about size and just go by feel.
That is a great deal on a phone! We get good deals on phones but our plans are outrageous here.
I have those quilt patterns as well. I have 3 that my maternal grandmother made for me and 1 that my paternal grandmother started and couldn’t finish so my maternal one finished it. It is one of my most treasured items, but I don’t use it.
This quilt is on my spare bed, my Maternal Grandmother’s Sister made it in the way back. She passed in 1967 and I remember my grandmother telling me she had made it years before when she was young. I assume this quilt was made in the 40’s-50’s, maybe earlier. I might find more about it in diaries.
Machka - I started following that Coffee and Swearpants on FB because of you sharing. They are so uplifting.
Rose - grateful for / positive: The time I’ve been able to work on healing this summer. My husband, girls, Grands and that my daughter and DH are expecting.
Thorn - challenging / stressful: the financial worry about getting through this next year. Also, virtual learning, I feel it will be more difficult to retain things because even the text books are e-books.
Bud - hope / motivation / inspiration: Hope that a new career will be more fulfilling for me. I’m looking forward to a small trip with DH in a couple of weeks.
Inspiration, you probably don’t know it, but you ladies have been a huge motivation/inspiration for me to take this leap of going back to school.
I think my Grandson will go into the computer field in some manner. I don’t know what he’ll be. He has always even as a toddler created these games and characters that he could direct and manipulate. I’ve always said he is going to be a director or video game creator. It’s exciting to see how he has grown and some traits have just stayed the same and gotten more defined. He actually runs a D&D game now where he is the dragon master. This doesn’t mean a lot to me, but everyone is impressed that knows the game that he does it at such a young age.
Ginny - I don’t think you are a weirdo at all. Many people I know feel the same.
Heather - I’m glad you’re all prepared, I know you worry and stress until the time comes then you enjoy it.
Vicki - that is scary! I hope you have some time to rest and get better soon.
I think I’m going to putter around today. I have to move some furniture around so I have a quiet place to do my classes. I have a desk that my great grandfather built for his children to do their homework on, my grandmother was the baby and born in 1913, I am going to use it. It has been a nightstand, a desk and a vanity since I’ve had it when I was 12. It will be a desk again now.
Jonah and I will also go get something for supper.
My cousin sent a bike for him as his was stolen this Spring. He doesn’t have a helmet here so he’s not riding a lot, but I let him go around a couple of times.
Now that I’ve written a novel, I should go do something.

I’ve been reading and musing…. As I read all your triumphs and challenges, all I can say is I admire you all and don’t know how you all do what you do. You all are inspiring and encouraging. This thread is my morning routine and I really miss it if something comes up and I don’t have time to read it (like yesterday) but as I read, I can’t help but admire each and every one of you!

DH looked it up and it is very twitchy trying to use the Amazfit with MFP so not getting that. Found a Fitbit that is a newer version of mine I think and about the same price- put a 3 yr warranty on this one(my third one. The second only lasted a few months). $72 including the warranty. The other was about half the price but this time, I don't want the cheapest(that is not normal for me-I am cheap!!) but, I want something that will work all the time. This is something I am using all the time and feel lost without it. It is a huge incentive for me to see the numbers. Especially on the days I can hit 20,000 steps and now the one with the zones to show even more indepth workouts.
It should be here today. Hopefully before I leave to go to mom's for the weekend. If not, I will have it when I get home Sunday, in time for my walk in the morning and class on Monday evening.

I love the quilts. I have one that looks similar that my grandmother had- I need to do the same and upcycle it.
I also have one that was hand made by my great grandmother. She did the tops for all of us girls and mom but never finished them. A couple years ago, mom had a friend finish them. They are crazy quilts. It was fun for mom to check out each piece, remembering the dress one piece came from or a shirt of her dad's.,etc. I have it on the back of my couch now. Because it was stored away all those years(Grandma Bee died when I was about 5-6yrs old and these were made long before that I think)
I have made one quilt, way back in 8th grade- I made a cross stitch baby blanket- it is in a closet in my sewing room I think. I have a friend in Zumba that is really into quilting. I am going to have him help me with one that was given to me(just the pieces, need to sew them together)
This is the latest one Joel made and gave to a friend
I am looking forward to more time to do some sewing.
