Merry Christmas 🎄
Okie in the TX Hill Country4 -
Hugs for all those who are ill, grieving, or suffering.
Had a super present opening session this morning in bed. Food, alcohol, and painting stuff. Definitely a theme!
We got down to the beach! Weather horrible, after five years of great Christmas Days. But a few people went in the sea, despite advice not to!
It was great to meet up with DDIL'S parents and everyone else. People had made the effort to dress up. I had my very flashing earrings on and John had a flashing hat.
Came back to watch 1947's 'Miracle On 34th Street'. Had blinis, sour cream and caviar, and Iberico ham for lunch. Had one liqueur chocolate and I made avogato for coffee. Lovely!
Spent some time sending texts and photos to friends and family. Got some great videos of the kids roller blading on the skates we bought them, and playing Jingle Bells together in their new living room. Max on piano, Edie on cello, and Bea on violin.
I've had a nice nap.
John about to start cooking Christmas Dinner for eating at 6 pm.
We still have quite a bit of festive stuff recorded, and Call The Midwife is on at 8.15 tonight.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Barbara Please let Katla know that I am thinking of her and wish her all the best, along with hugs!
On Luminaries When I lived in CT before moving to the RV, we went to the store one Christmas Eve for last minute shopping and on our way back, we ran into the fire department putting luminaries all down both sides of the street and lighting them! We stopped and asked what they were (as we didn’t know), and they said ‘luminaries’ and went back to work. They were beautiful to see along the street.

Besides Christmas Day, today is family day. Have some pumpkin pie with your relatives for me. I can’t eat it, I react to the pumpkin. :{. Too sad. I love pumpkin pie….

I got to sleep a little late today plus walk for more than an hour and get the turkey in the oven in a timely manner to be ready to eat close to our usual meal time of 11:00. I've already watched my fill of classic holiday movies along with listening to an audio book of "A Christmas Carol". Dogs are lying at my feet under the table with Annie trying to get Bessie to play with her. Jake is in the recliner sending text greetings to family members who celebrate Christmas.
Hugs to all who are ill, injured, and sad today. Take heart in whatever spiritual practices work in your life. We are all in your pocket and wishing you the best.

KatieI was sorry to hear of your fall!
M Hope you recover quickly!
Rosemary Key lime is my favorite too! I would have bought one for a special treat except I am having the Frango candy as my treat for now. We are enjoying sharing good memories of my sister in law.
When I see a cardinal I think of a good memory of our son. Thinking of when we adopted DrewB together! A friend in the choir lost her son this year I gave her a small flower charm. My sediment to her was when she sees a flower think of a good memory. While talking to her at church we saw a woman with flowers on her dress. She shared going out to dinner and hearing him laugh. Another friend who lost her son this year and I could feel her pain at their son passing. My Christmas message was how much joy her son gave to them love of music, cats, shared reading, love of them. I feel strongly their son wants me to give that message of love.
Rosemary As you share the key lime pie what good memories come to mind of your darling husband...Sometimes tears are drops of love that splash on the memories. Much love to you...

Heather - I hope you get to see the family more in the week following Christmas.
I’m hoping to steal the Grands one day this week. Maybe I’ll invite them for New Years Eve, let their parents have a date night. We’ll see.
Annie - I feel that Minister was way out of line. What a thing for him to do, he should understand your Father’s limits.
Sorry this happened, it just makes a stressful situation even more stressful. Big hugs.
Allie - I would have a hard time being Tracy’s Mom and having her living with someone like that. I hope things change for her soon.
Carol - sorry for the loss of your BIL.
Michele - I shocked myself, the cookies taste just like my Grandmother’s. I still don’t have the mocha cakes made. The time got away from me. I’ll do them tomorrow.
Flea - I return to school on January 2nd. It’s a nice break.
Lanette - I have watched a few episodes of The Repair Shop, my DH quite enjoys it. I enjoy the things as well.
Debbie - you are kinder than I making everything nice for DH when you’re treated the way you are.
I hope you have a peaceful Christmas with your Mom. My biggest wish for you is that you start being treated better.
Katie - sorry you fell. I don’t know why people don’t offer to help anymore. The social media world has seemed to have ruined basic manners in the real world.
Rebecca - your calendar weaving is beautiful.
Barbara - what a lovely thing to send a card to Katla. She is missed.
Machka - I hope you feel better soon. My cousin and her DH are sick and have had to cancel all of their Christmas plans. They were hosting dinner for 12. A couple of their guests were also sick.
I was going to ask what RAT’s were too. We call them PCR tests here, or just tests when we know we’re talking about Covid.
So sorry you have the worry of your parents health.
Barbara - I agree. I don’t buy them, the child that I did the stocking for her grandmother does. She only buys one each Christmas for her.
I see our local “farm” store had seeds in when I was there on the 22nd.
Rosemarie - I’m glad you son and family will be with you today.
Lisa - butter swim biscuits sound delicious.
Merry Christmas everyone. It’s been a busy couple of days. We had our Christmas on Saturday. I didn’t take many pictures this year for some reason. But here is a group photo our youngest took.
Last night I went to the candlelight Christmas service at my son in law’s church. Michaela played Mary in their enactment of the Christmas story. I have never laughed so hard at a pastor. If you are interested this is the link to the service.

Dinner is over. Turkey is sliced and separated into bowls for eating and for making soup. We'll have several days of turkey sandwiches. Tomorrow I'll make soup with the bones and the broth from the Thanksgiving turkey. The dishwasher is running and the kitchen is clean. 🥰🌻🌞❤

Debbie in Napa Valley, CA - 151.6 Nice to see it going back down, then looked at what I weighed on 1/1/23 and feeling not so great about it. I did go up even higher and it is on it's way back down. Just didn't realize I had gained almost 9 pounds since the first of the year.
Lanette in SW WA State – staying on even keel weight wise. Adding a little morning walk before high protein breakfast. Carrying 5 lb weights is more comfortable now. Slowly gaining arm strength.

Did Gilad’s Step and Tone DVD then went for my walk. I don’t know if it’s that I’m getting older or the fact that I no longer exercise every day (formal exercise), but it seemed that I got out of breath faster than I used to.
Rebecca – those snowflakes are just gorgeous. You know, tatting is about the only craft that I’ve never done. I want to learn, I have a book with instructions so as soon as I get a little time, I’m going to try it.
Barbara and Lanette – “four seconds longer”. Time to think about opening the pool….lol
Rosemarie – HUG
Lisa – “butter swim biscuits” – sounds so very yummy. Sounds like they must have a lot of butter in them.
Tracey – lovely program
Evelyn – I thought I saw chocolate covered pieces of fruit in that bowl!!!
Quiet Christmas. Denise says she doesn’t know what they’re doing. That’s double speak for “we’re going to Pete’s mother’s house”, Jess is in Idaho and Bryan, well, he did email us with pictures of Leo. Otherwise, not much going on
Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or whatever you’d prefer. Thank you, all, for being my friends and sounding block when I need it.

John's first solo Christmas Dinner was a triumph! Turkey with all the British traditional accompaniments. Stuffing, bread sauce, pigs in blankets, sprouts, roast potatoes, roast parsnips and carrots, gravy. It just appeared on the table.
My dessert was a little untidy in the unmolding, but tasted heavenly.
Turkey and stuffing ciabatta tomorrow lunchtime, and turkey curry in the evening.
Nice to have some freezer space back!!!
Kids are going to a pantomime tomorrow and then to the other grandparents for a couple of nights. I think the idea is to give my poor son a break. After bad covid, he still cooked for seven for two days. Luckily the brother and family cancelled coming because they were worried about catching it.
So we shall see them after the 28th.
I spoke to G on the phone this afternoon. Her demonic itching is slightly better, but she cancelled her Christmas trip to friends and stayed in bed. It's been exhausting. Scabies.
Just missed a chat with L who was sitting down to her solo dinner. Tomorrow will do.
Love to all. Heather UK xxxxxx4 -

Oops,didn't post this this morning.
Enjoyed time with family.

PCRs are the official ones done in a doctor's office or in the hospital. The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test is sent to a Laboratory for a result, and results are known in 24 – 48 hours.
RATs are the ones you buy in a pharmacy and do at home.
https://www.health.tas.gov.au/health-topics/coronavirus-covid-19/testing
RAT has entered everyday language here as in:
Person A: (chokes on lunch) *cough* *hack*
Person B: Better go get a RAT!
Person A: (gasps) I'm just choking on my lunch here, you idiot (or other term(s))

Happy Boxing Day!!
I slept about 12 hours last night without any major breaks which was good. My husband has moved into the fever and pain phase (he did things out of order) but he's sleeping now.
It's another gorgeous day out there and I'm debating whether I have the energy to do laundry.
I could have gotten so much done in the garden over the past few days!!! (((sigh)))
On the bright side, I've lost 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) in the past 3 or so days. But this is not the recommended way to lose weight.

Gratitudes:
Sunday 12/24: all the memories associated with Christmas ornaments, the felt mushroom, glass icedrops/icicles, bubbles, blue pine cone and bell.
Saturday 12/23: Joe surprised me with a beautiful Christmas bouquet
Tracey WOW your Christmas decorated window and stockings, just WOW!!!
Annie could the minister be unaware of your fathers’ mental condition? Whooshing you calming energy as you explain to him YOUR schedule/plans and the impact any change would have on your family members flying in. {{breathe}} We have Entenmann’s at Fred Meyers/Kroger, is there one near you?
Allie ((hugs)) so hard to have to stand by and watch Kyle’s misbehavior. the smiles in the pics AND the “grandma and me jammies”.
Margaret yours to Annie about the minister. Well said. Also about the power of attorney and health care directives ((hugs)) Love the memory sharing each mint. Marshall Fields was an amazing store. Mama and I visited there once.
Carol so sorry for your and your DH’s loss.
Rita I don’t decorate with radishes, but watermelon radish slices sure perk up a veggie tray Hope that Grinch’s heart grows soon! Grapes? Sounds like there’s a story there . . .
Evelyn “…better they are chilling at their house rather than having to be behaving at ours. That’s not just the little kids either…. lol.” LOL!!!
Debbie my heart aches for you. Likely you’ve heard it all before, but your DH really does need help and removing the guns is a good idea…
Machka Sorry to hear the Covid bug got you so very painfully. I’ve been slacking on wearing a mask when shopping and running errands, but will get back on the wagon. Good attitude to find the positive (excited to be able to breathe) Well done!.
Rori your Christmas Day plans make me smile
Heather “…it was then I realised I did love her. Changed my whole relationship with her.” ((hugs))
Ginny your caution to Annie about the pastor and finances, very well said. Glad to hear good news about the foot.
Lisa the pic of egg perched on your recliner.
Kylia like the pics of your hillbilly parade, but Yikes, that fog!!!
Betsy, belated best birthday wishes. Sounds like a lovely way to celebrate.

Annie ... I am so sorry to read that your mom has passed. Hugs. Hugs. Hugs. Like others, I am angry as all get out with the behavior of the minister. So inappropriate.
Carol ... Thinking of you and your family on the loss of your brother-in-law. This wasn't the same brother-in-law that is in a nursing home is it?
Machka ... sorry you and your husband are dealing with covid. Hope you feel well soon!
Kay ... what a no good rotten day you had and to have two ignoramuses witness it to boot! Glad that you just ended up with a sore head!
Tracy ... your photo of the family dining ... do you remember when way back a few months ago I said I had a dream with you and your family in it ... where you invited my husband and I into your home for dinner?? I swear I had deja-vu when I saw your photo! That was exactly how I envisioned your family at the table. You are blessed!
Pip ... I enjoyed all the throw-back photos, but the most recent photo of you and Kirby was my favorite. You both looked happy and relaxed.
Allie ... nasty looking bruise!
Rosemarie and Flea and Rori ... thinking of you as your go through the holiday season without your loved ones.
I have been way behind on keeping up with the posts, but finally took time this afternoon as I was waiting for a roast to cook to catch up. There were certainly more things I would have liked to comment on as I was reading ... but most of you had already said what I would have.
My mom:I am exhausted. Saw a photo of me taken today and I look exactly how I feel. My mom was diagnosed with covid on the morning of the 9th and fell that afternoon from extreme covid fatigue. She spent 4 days in the hospital due to the covid and covid induced fatigue/fog but fortunately ended up with a mild case of covid. On the 14th she was moved to a rehab facility near me and placed in a quarantined room with another covid positive patient. For 10 days I went in to both the hospital and then the rehab at mealtimes to feed her. She didn't have the strength nor the inclination to do so herself and to rely on hospital/rehab staff is naive to say the least. Laying in bed or slouched in a recliner for 10 days may have be her undoing. It was horrible and the woman she shared the quarantine room with wanted to sleep in the dark... 6 days my mom sat in the dark! She has lost the ability to assist in transfers and is currently reliant on lift equipment. In NY, this will be an issue for her in terms of being able to go back to assisted living due to licensing laws of facilities. She finally started rehab on the Dec. 20th and is to receive rehab until the 10th of January when they'll decide whether she can return to assisted living or be moved into long term care. She needs to be able to transfer with only one person assisting. (She's currently a 2-person heavy lift and they're using equipment instead) The cost differential between assisted living and long-term care is obscene. More importantly though, is my mother's emotional/mental health has suffered significantly. It looked pretty grim for a while as we thought she had given up, but the last few days have been better. It has not helped that hospital beds have aggravated an existing back condition causing her non-stop back pain. I've spent every day with her for several hours to help keep her motivated and grounded (a lot of confusion at times) and that has helped, but it has worn me out. Today, we had our Christmas in the morning, then we went to the rehab facility and saw to it that family got to FaceTime (she is unable to hear on the rehab phone), I got home at 4:00 and, because I misjudged time on my roast, we ate at 8:00 pm. I'm only up now because I need to let my dinner digest somewhat before going to bed!
Thank you for sharing your photos and traditions ... it has helped me these past few weeks!
Beth near Buffalo where we had a balmy 57 degree Christmas Day which was much appreciated after last year's Christmas Blizzard

My three loves, plus a spare. (They have their back to the camera. My eldest's partner.)
We had a lovely day. Watched Die Hard while we were waiting for the couple to arrive. My two son's say it is a Christmas movie.
I remain unconvinced. Lol
