Michelle, I used to give out coal to my kids too, but it was candy! I found some candy coal and gave each child some in their sock. I was very quickly sorry I did that! Have you ever had to clean children’s faces that were stained black? I had red before and blue from different candies, but black was the worst! Never bought that again, even though my kids thought it was great fun! 🤩

Kylia: You were really kind to send me Heather's cleaning solution. I really need to use it.

Lisa: The sun room looks amazing. I like knotty wood and it looks like you have a door for Egg.

Lanette and Beth: Inspiring to get your 2024 plans in motion.

Margaret: Had to look up metabolic syndrome. Everything about me is flabby and fits some of the signs. Hoping if I ever get my bad knee replaced I can get more exercise.

Heather: Hope your friend does not have scabies as I read it is caused by skin to skin contact from others you have been close to. If it was that, I would be scared to be around her.

    Beth and Annie: Hugs!

Debbie the family drama is why I live so far from family. It got to me making me have panic attacks along with depression so bad that I kept losing jobs. Moving to TN then to the RV were the best things I did for my health. I’m so sorry you have to go through all that with your family. Maybe you need to take a vacation away for a couple of weeks, just you to relax. Tell me again WHY your DH has to go there twice a day? It seems to just make things worse for everyone. Can he not just go once a day and taper that off as well? I know culture plays a big part in this, and can be very hard to deal with.

Today is make snowflakes day! I have a pattern that I used when I was substitute teaching 3rd graders. Think I will make some for January decorations this year! I’ll post a picture of them when/if I make them. I need to go for bloodwork today before my January appointment with the renal doc.

Debbie: Seems like you are in a No Win situation with your own family and with your husband's. Thank goodness you have your son and his girlfriend, your exercise classes, your church, and the wetlands to bring some stability to your life.

I tried a new recipe this evening with cauliflower, crême fraiche, and Parmesan, mashed into a purée, and finished with sage brown butter. Absolutely heavenly!
I topped it with left over bacon rashers and fried eggs.
    We both loved it.
    Stewed apricots for dessert.

G has arrived at her seafront hotel in Eastbourne and says the itching is less tormenting. The doctor was mentioning an auto immune reaction. She already has RA flareups. Not scabies.
I hope she can get some sleep and enjoy the break from her flat. This has been getting worse over weeks/months.

Looking forward to a new Agatha Christie murder tonight. :p

Just reading and enjoying all the posts. I will take notes later. I remember Fen/Phen back in the 90s. I guess phentermine survived but wasn't there a problem with Fenfluramine. I guess because of safety concerns about the weight loss drugs and costs, I have been holding off.

I went to the Rescue the last 2 days and then yesterday my son, his wife and I went to a museum and out for Italian food. I sort of forced them to go into a furniture store with me. But of course it took me 5 minutes to decide everything was too expensive but another 15 minutes for them to walk around all six floors of the store. They are in their 20's.

I am a little tired now, but will try to make it through an activity this afternoon. I will regret not resting while they are having lunch with friends. Instead, a rug I ordered came and I have the padding mostly out. Maybe they will help me with the rest!

After seeing that furniture store...the leather couch from Macy's looks like a really terrific deal. I am still thinking about it!
If I return the Macy's couch, I must pay a 15% restocking fee and forfeit the delivery fee. Still thinkings.

    Best,
    Rosemarie from Georgia

Heather your friend's rash looks so painful and itchy. Good that the pics are being sent to a dermatologist for review. Hopefully they will be able to identify it and get medication that will help clear it up. I get hives occasionally but nothing as severe as what she is going through and is caused by a thyroid disorder (Hashimotos disease which is an autoimmune disorder).

Machka, sorry to read that you got covid at Christmas. Sounds like you are now on the mend.

Had a wonderful Christmas with family on Christmas Eve. Played some games in the afternoon after our big lunch. Jenga was the one game that was a huge hit and everyone enjoyed. Had appetizers later in the evening and I ate so much on both occasions. Now back to our normal eating and getting out for my walks with the dogs. Took all the decorations down and everything is back in it's place for another year. Think I will wait at least a week before stepping on the scale.

Did a walking DVD then got together the donation for the Salvation Army. I’ll probably go Thursday

Sue – what a pain it is with your oven! You never know when it’s going to cut out. I’d hate that.

At the ceramics christmas party I got a box of Russell Stover candy. I gave it to Jess. Hopefully, she took it to Idaho with her Update: I asked her and she said "but it's mine"

Lisa – Corey does wonderful work

Wednesday here: went to the gym then to the church to count the donation money, then Big Lots to see what they had on sale, then Sams for gas, then Aldi.

Wish I could get at least the boxes for the Christmas gifts put away. But I know that Lynette will give me the boxes back (I had to use the largest ones I had for her gifts) and they’ll need to be stored. I’d like to at least get the decorations down by the time we go to FL so when we come back I can start opening the pool

Heather – yea for the windfall! Care to share????? I thought so (that you wouldn’t) G’s itching looks – itchy

When I was counting the donations at the church, I asked the lady who is the secretary if she brought the children by to see the decorations. She hadn’t so I showed her a short video of the decorations. She asked me to text her the address so she can bring her girls by. She’d like to walk under the arches to the house then she’ll come see the trees. I’m just going to have a plate of cookies. Actually, I have the plate in the freezer so I can just take it out when she comes. But I did need to wash the tablecloth, which really isn’t a big deal

kylia – Vince is one of those “we may need it someday” people like your dh. I have been known to throw out things that I know haven’t been used in forever and not mentioned it to Vince

Lisa – Vince doesn’t eat soup – except for lobster bisque. Do you know how expensive that can be? Which reminds me that I have another can of the lobster corn bisque in the pantry. I have a few other things that I want finished first and then he’ll get a little bit every night until it’s gone

Took the tablecloth out of the dryer. Unfortunately, it still has the creases from when it was in the package but I have no desire to steam them out.

Drkatie – that’s what I did with the mole – just covered it. I’m hesitant to take the bandaid off (like after a shower) since it’s not exactly easy to put on. But otherwise, I do think I’ll live, but I would like to get it frozen off asap

Someone here talked about the incline interval workout (CRS right now). I did it, only I couldn’t use a uTube since I was at the gym and there isn’t a TV that I can use. So what I did was 2 minutes at each 2, 4, 6 and 8% incline. It was a good workout

I don’t like to take meds unless I absolutely need to. Like I know that I need the prolia, the calcium supplement, the lamictal. But that’s IT. I don’t like to take meds if I can get by without them. So far, I’ve been pretty lucky. At times I need an antibiotic for one thing or another, but that’s only for a few days. Or I might need an antihistamine, but even that’s short lived. I remember when MIL passed, she’d been taking 10 different medications. My dad took about 5.

Rita – LOL black faces. Maybe you should get it for Halloween?????

Carol – have you spoken to Lenora lately? I think of her often. I see where she hasn’t logged into MFP in something like 6 months.

Kristin – welcome. We can do this so come back often to give us your update

Heather – you’re another food porn person. All the food you talk about sounds so very yummy

Rosemarie – I’m constantly amazed at how Jess and Denise talk about how expensive things are, yet when they go shopping they buy only the best. Like I made a blanket for Denise, what is she using? A blanket from Victoria Secret. Jess has to have organic potting soil and lots of other organic foods. I don’t know. Yet she asks us how to save money. We just told her not going out to dinner as much and cooking at home. She still goes out to dinner much more than we do. Guess part of it is because she doesn’t have the bills that we have (mortgage, etc)

Pip - good job "walking with weights". Where did you get your sling for Chispa? Rosie weighs around 15#, I wonder if she'd hold still and let me walk holding her. :*

Y Amazon of course. It has a snap so you could attach her to the collar but I don’t have to use it for her, she just stays there. Just put small dog sling carrier in the search bar. Make sure it has a 15# weight capacity

Well I have to say I haven't been taking naps, and those cortisone shots in the hip helped a whole lot
But,procrastination is my middle name and im just stuck in my ways..I have to go to Ace hardware and pick up a basic harware set as mine is buried in my storage unit.
I have to do my laundry and get rid of a boatload of papers and other junk.
But I'll tackle it a little at a time

:) Once again I am reminded that the way to save money is to not spend it and one way to declutter is to not buy anything. Easier said than done, but quite simple. Buying something is a way to feel better just like drugs, alcohol, or emotional eating.

:) The dishwasher has been emptied so all the extra bowls and pots for turkey and soup cooking are put away for a few months. the box of holiday decorations is ready to go back on the shelf. Now it's time to gather whatever is needed to file income tax. That will be here soon.

Hanging the laundry outside today is a gamble. It's windy ... perfect for drying. But it has been threatening to rain and I see that a very light rain has just started.

Is the wind strong enough to dry the clothes anyway?
    Will the rain stop shortly?
    Will the rain get heavier?

It's so hard to tell, but I really don't want to bring everything in, only to have the rain stop.

I've also been cleaning the kitchen a bit ... when my husband goes to sleep.

Machka - you’re right. We still just say “go get tested” I have not heard it shortened to RATS.
I love how you keep Christmas going well into January. I would do that as well if I thought I could get away with it.

Beth - thank you. I had a sense of déjà-vu this year when we were unwrapping presents. It’s an odd feeling.
So sorry for your Mom’s decline. I hope she is able to recover. I’ll pray for some strength and rest for all of you.

Flea - lovely family. The men in our family say Die Hard is a Christmas movie too.

Rebecca - I just love how you and your family uses technology. I can’t seem to get anyone in my family to use it for connecting that way.
I remember my Mom & grandmother being frustrated when something in a store changed. I get it now. Just like I get why they were always fussing about “what to make for supper”.
You have inspired me. I have asked my girls what their favourite Christmas shape is. I am going to make a jewelry picture like yours for them. I am going to use my grandmother’s wedding dress as the background. They were married in February 13, 1941 in Kingston, ON while Grampie was in boot camp to go overseas for WWII, her dress is a deep dark green velvet. I’ll have to see if I can find their wedding picture to share with you ladies.

Terri - sorry for the sudden loss of your friend.
I agree we need to make as many memories as possible with our loved ones.

Ginny - I hope you find relief soon. What a sweet granddaughter you have there.

Barbara - I made sugar cookies. My grandmother had never written her recipe down that we could find. Years ago, close to 30 now, I decided I would try to make them. I would make a batch, have cousins taste test get feedback and try again. Her secret ingredient was nutmeg.
I have to say though, I am not a baker, it is not something I find enjoyable and relaxing. My eldest daughter has been making the cookies since she was a teenager. She couldn’t this year, so I’m quite proud of my accomplishment. I am taking some to one of my cousin’s granddaughter’s today, her Mom and Grandfather were some of my taste testers. Her Mom and I were the same age and she passed suddenly when we were 51. Her Grandfather was my Dad’s age. That side of my family is huge.
By the way - your roast and potatoes sounds so much better to me than the turkey we had. I think my family would disown me if I didn’t make a turkey. Apparently my son in law was going to make a ham too, I was excited when I found out, but he had forgotten he had mentioned it to my daughter and didn’t do it. 😂

Kylia - Love the pictures! I think I’ll take Christmas down on New Years Day. I like keeping them up a bit longer so I have the pretty lights in dark and gloomy January.
I usually only buy wants for Christmas and birthdays. Like you, I grew up with Christmas being about needs and a couple wants from Grandparents. DH really only wanted us to buy wants over the years, he dislikes if I buy needs.

Rosemarie - I hope you got your tv stand together. I am hoping to redo my living room in January. I want to paint and buy a new sofa. DH is going to make a new shelf/storage system for me in the spring or summer.
I used to take the grands more often so the parents could have date nights. It seemed to have fell off during Covid I hope to pick it up again.

Allie - I personally haven’t used Ozempic, but I know a couple who have with great success. It’s very hard on the stomach at first, though apparently it settles after a few months. I would definitely make sure all of your medical team was aware though, you have a lot of health problems that it may make worse.

    Carol - nice photos.

Rita - I have a sign in my kitchen that says “not my cows, not my pasture, not my bull$hit”.
    I love the sentiment.

Sue - I miss the days of no electronics in appliances. They don’t last very long because of them.
    Your Christmas sounds so peaceful.

Vicki - I hope you are able to fix what’s off swiftly. I hate having that feeling.

Heather - I like to decorate earlier and leave it up until usually New Year’s Day. I enjoy the lights so much. I would leave it up longer but DH would start complaining.
    Great news on your pension!
I feel so bad for your friend G. What a bout she has had with this. Hopefully they can get her some relief soon.

Lanette - I think it’s smart to save for later too. I get DH to do that.

Lisa - your sunroom is coming right along. It’s going to be great.
I too got rid of all but tax documents. I have everything I need scanned and all bills are electronic now.
I’m glad you enjoyed the little cartoon.

I did almost nothing today. I went to Michael’s because the item I wanted for Christmas was on sale 50% off, they didn’t have one in stock when DH did his shopping so bought me a GC. Since he was so generous and not aware of the sale, o bought another item also 50% off and I have 25.00 left. I then went to Walmart to exchange the pj’s he bought me, when I went to put them on last night someone had switched the pant size to 2XL instead of XL. I can get away with L on the bottom, but the boobage makes me need XL. I knew I would never be comfortable in a 2XL. Turns out they didn’t have any in stock so gave me a refund. I found another pair that were now on clearance for $8 so bought a wallet too.
I went to put the set I bought on tonight and the top is a crop top. I told DH I’m keeping it because I really like the bottom, I may make myself a shirt to go with it though.

Tomorrow I am going to pick eldest daughter up and go to exchange the book she bought me for Christmas then I have to go for a mammogram.

I guess I should head to bed. I have done not much of anything today and I’m still tired.
