Carol - so sorry about your BIL. Peace to all.
Annie - I would be angry too. All of that planning is stressful enough without him complicating matters and the fact that he pressured your dad is just wrong.
Loving all the pictures. Wishing all who celebrate whenever they celebrate a wonderful time. DD and I celebrated with family at Thanksgiving so this weekend will be a quiet celebration with just the 2 of us. The children at church will do their pageant during the morning service and the choir will sing for the evening service. Going to try out the new air fryer for Christmas dinner.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA10 -
Afternoon ladies
And a lovely time was had by all.
So the first picture is Miles opening his present from me,the 2nd one I think is my son Dan with Miles,3rd one is the kids, myself,my first husband Rich and his brother Jim,andhis wife Bev and Dan,4th one is Dan bought us all mugs with our initials. He gave me a card with the rest of the money he owed me from his trip lol,Tracy bought me and Miles matching jammies, and gave Rich and I a whole bunch of printed pictures and a stamp that hides your identity. And some scratch offs from Bev and Jim..11 -
more drama with MIL/DH-so tired of it. I know he is beyond tired of all of it and wants it to end but he won't listen to any suggestions I try to give- they are all wrong. He is doing this all by himself and it is just too much......Ready to smash things because they are his and he can do it if he wants, only thing he can control. The yelling/cussing/etc out in the garage with the door open. Surprised the neighbors didn't call the police on him.I have told him before he needs to go get some psych help- He even said he hopes they find he has cancer when they do his colonoscopy- or that he might drive off a cliff or that I need to take his guns out of the house because he doesn't feel safe having them here. Same things he has been saying for the past year and a half. A little pity party because he doesn't know what he will eat tomorrow night or Monday morning because I won't be there. I am NOT skipping Christmas with my mom to sit here at the house while he sits in his room, only coming out to complain about going to his mothers and I am NOT going over there Christmas day for lunch. I will go over when I get home from my mom's on Christmas afternoon- we will be home around 4 to go over there.
I missed Christmas last year because I was laid up from surgery. Son and his girlfriend are going up with me- they haven't been up there in a long time. Girlfriend will most likely have to stay here at our house after we get back- MIL doesn't want her at her house.
The two of them have ruined so many holidays. I used to love Christmas- my favorite holiday. Now, I am just ready for it to be over.
At least I will be with mom-
More drama there between younger sister and mom so who knows how that will go.
I will cook for all of us and then rush home to go to MIL's.
Michelle- DH has at least one or two of the original tribbles too. He is a huge Star Trek fan. We have a few original prints by one of the artist that did some for the show.
Annie- all the suggestions you have received are good. Talk to the minister- let him know you are going back to YOUR plans. I understand he is worried about a mess left after the service if it is at the church but assure him it will be cleaned up. Mom deals with that at their church- many leave messes and she is stuck cleaning up their mess. She was even stuck helping clean up after her own birthday party. The room mate and neighbor were the one that started planning the party but when it came to doing any work- they weren't there. Mom, my sister and I and one friend did all the clean up. Took us 3 hrs to do all of it.

Allie ~ Great family photos. So glad you had a good day together!
Carol in GA1 -
Carol Hugs to you and your family.
Annie The other ladies have said it all. I too am pissed on your behalf. You do what is best for you and your family. Hugs continue.
It seems to me that so many people pass at Christmas.
Our mechanic told a lady Merry Christmas yesterday. She told him that it was Happy Holidays. His reply.....Happy Hanukkah. Lol! Seriously people.... If someone said Happy Hanukkah to me, I would simply say Happy Hanukka back. No I am not Jewish, but IMHO, it is a blessing no matter what the holiday. We had 3 customers and one phone call. Closed at noon.
Golf cart is decorated. Picked up gift card for grandson's girlfriend who is joining us this evening. It is wrapped. This seems so strange to me....gifts wrapped, saran wrap balls done, ready for Christmas two days early. Hillbilly parade at 515 this evening. Followed by quick meet and greet with neighbors, then back to our house for chili and presents. The only task for tomorrow is to make two cheesecakes for Monday. Wow!
Thinking of you all with gratefulness!
Have an awesome weekend weather celebrating with large gatherings or small family.

Im in my jammies, not the new ones and watching hallmark movies..,
I hope all goes well for everyone over the next few days, holidays can be rough..
Wishing you all the best and love you all!!5 -
Lanette, Lisa is so right, you will LOVE the Vicar of Dibley! I have also watched it multiple times, it doesn’t get old, lol.
Another Brit show that I’ve discovered is called Pie in the Sky, gentle murder mystery with some lighter moments.
Baking is mostly done, had to take a food break. I was taking the butter tarts out of the pan and one fell over onto its face so it had to be eaten. I needed to eat one for quality control anyway so…….two birds, one stone. lol And yes, they turned out good!
Allie, I have a question or concern or something…. While I think it’s nice that Tom the next day to check on your injuries, I have to wonder why he didn’t come out and help you when you fell. Or even better why one, or both, of them didn’t help you out to the car to start with. As you said, you did have your hands full with Alfie and the basket, it would have been a nice gesture on their part. Just my brain with too much time on its hands, thinking far too much!

After all the baking this morning, was still able to get out and work in the sunroom:I was able to work on the insulation while Corey did the wiring. He got his overhead LED lights wired up to the light switch, as well as getting my carriage lamp up and the vent fan installed. He also got the wallboards up that will back his kitchen area, so he will be able to easily hang utensils, or anything else he wants to, on the walls in that area.
I finished the insulation below the eight-foot line, and then helped him get half the ceiling insulated. We'll finish the rest tomorrow, most likely. It really helps to have a six-footer for a husband and a reasonably low ceiling. I would have had to do it from a ladder, but he was able to staple them up to the ceiling joists flat-footed from the floor.
We've decided to put the decision on the flooring off until we get the knotty cedar up on the walls and the ceiling panels up. Any kind of wood grain floor may be simply overwhelming, we just don't know yet.
Lanette - I'm just starting on Jonathan Creek on Britbox, an older mystery series, but with one of my favorite actors in it, Alan Davies. I'll let you know...
Corey's in cooking my supper, shrimp stir fry. Smells wonderful. He's got a cold chicken salad to put together for himself, I think.
Later, my dears,
Love,
Lisa

I haven't climbed a tree in decades!
I got the turkey this morning, cooked it this afternoon. It’s chilling, then tomorrow I will portion it out to take to daughter on Christmas Day.

Thank you to those that sent me calendars! I have been cutting them into squares then folding them into triangles, to be made into envelopes for my letters to pen pals. What I trim away are perfect bookmarks. My plan is to get some pretty sheets of washi paper and back them with that.👍🏼
Thanks again!

The long thin strips I plan to cut them once more, then weave them into pretty colorful bookmarks too.

British shows:
- Vicar of Dibley is good - a comedy.
- Jonathan Creek is good - a mystery. I wish they played that one here more often. I might have to get the boxed set.
- Pie in the Sky is good - a mystery. The only thing with it is that I have to really pay attention because I find the plot to be all interwoven and complex at times.
- New Tricks is all right - a mystery. I've watched most of it through once and it's all right, but I don't like it when the characters' lives start being part of the mystery. For example, I stopped watching Bones and the CSIs because it became more about the detectives than the mystery.
- Are You Being Served - a comedy. I wish they would bring that one back, I loved it!!
- Keeping Up Appearances is good - a comedy.
- As Time Goes By is very good - a heartfelt comedy. We watch this one whenever it's on.
- Qi - a funny quiz show with Alan Davies as the contestant who is always there.

So ... my present for Christmas is ....
COVID!!
Yay. I'm pretty sure this is thanks to the disease ships which have been coming here in great numbers recently.
It's the first time I've had it and I've had 4 vaccines. I think. Or maybe 5. Whatever it is, I'm up to date.
Yesterday was pretty awful - just like my reaction to my second vaccination, only worse. 24+ hours of fever and pain. I hurt so bad. Everything hurt - joints, muscles, skin, hair, the works! Plus runny nose and sore throat.
Today I just have the runny nose and sore throat. Thank goodness!!
Interesting (to me) story about the runny nose and sore throat ...I have not been sick since 2019, and I can't remember what happened then, so it must not have been bad, but up till late 2017, I got sick frequently with colds and flus. I usually had at least one a year, and when I started university again, the number went up to 2 or 3 colds or flus a year. Cold were particularly horrible. My nose would completely shut down so I could not breathe through it, and invariably, I would end up with a sinus infection so that my "cold" would last 2-3 weeks. And they seemed to get worse as the years went by. I would spend weeks with a pounding headache, sleeping sitting upright so I could have some vague chance of breathing, and missing university and work. I really dreaded getting a cold.
Then my husband ended up in hospital in 2018, and I stopped attending classes in person for a while. And I stopped getting sick! Of course, in 2019, I was attending classes in person again, and did get sick, but not as badly as usual. I wonder if my body finally had time to heal and build up antibodies ... and if the swelling in my turbinates had a chance to go down a bit.
2020 came ... and one of the many good things about that time period was that I had my deviated septum fixed. My septum was badly deviated and my turbinates were somewhat swollen all the time meaning that at the best of times, I could barely breathe, but when I had a cold, everything would swell shut. It wasn't that I had a blocked nose because of the mucous (and if I blew my nose it would clear), it was that I had a blocked nose because of the structure of my nose. Blowing my nose would often result in no change whatsoever.
So my deviated septum was fixed and I noticed how well I could breathe while cycling!! I could do exciting things like cycle up a hill while breathing through my nose!!
But because of all the precautions in place, I haven't had a chance to check out my fixed deviated septum in a cold situation ... until now. I haven't been sick at all since 2019! Amazing what happens when people keep their distance, wash their hands and wear masks.
While I was lying there in pain yesterday, I found myself being so pleased that I could breathe!! I can blow my nose and get results! I don't have to prop myself up into a sitting position in order to get a bit of sleep! I don't have agonising sinus pain! Just imagine being able to breathe during cold symptoms!! So exciting.
I'm not excited about having COVID, and hope that yesterday was the worst of it. But I am excited I can breathe!

Annie: big ((hug)) and condolences. Wish I could be there to lend a hand.
Carol: so, so sorry to hear of your BILs passing. May you find peace and comfort in your memories of him.
Quiet weekend after a whirlwind week. Saw holiday tribute concerts for Elvis and John Denver. Also saw the Broadway musical SIX, which is very entertaining. My housemate is on last stages of his first case of Covid. Because of him and my proximity to the general public at work, I got updated Covid and flu vaccines. Two days later I still feel achey and tired. So, taking it easy. May check out The Vicar of Dibley thanks to all of you who rave about it.
Christmas Day will find me working at the Nuggets basketball game which suits me perfectly.
Happy Christmas to you and yours. Keep smiling and shining. We can do this.

Just popping in to send condolences and hugs to Annie.
Allie-Rest is your friend. Sorry about your fall!
I know others are going through rough times. Sending virtual hugs your way.
I’m trying to catch up, but am at least 10 pages behind.

Had good time at my sisters until they start talking politics, ughhh, otherwise, good times.

Allie, thanks for the explanation! I wondered if they (him) had offered and you refused, which I totally understand! A gal has to have her pride, after all. I am glad you weren’t more seriously injured, that had the potential to be really nasty!
Machka, apparently Santa has a strange sense of humour, bringing you Covid for Christmas! I do hope you are over the worst of it now and how lovely to be able to still breathe!
Debbie, I do hope you enjoy your time with your mom, too bad you have to hurry back to the nastiness that is your mil….
Got the desserts all ready for tomorrow, just have to make the buns and the stuffing in the morning. Hmmm, better get the bread machine out now so that I remember!

I slept! Though I did have to move beds, as I had a throat tickle. Can't help coughing!
It's pancake day for us. I will try to make two at once, and get John and the kids to help a bit.
Ham and cheese. Lemon and sugar. Ice cream and chocolate sprinkles.
Edie spotted that not all the sprinkles are gluten free, but she knows which is which. I also have chocolate chips. I'm making the pancakes with gluten free flour.
John has devised a quiz based on Richard Osman 's House of Games.
Sorry about the Covid, Machka!

If you can find the Christmas one where the Vicar of Dibley has to eat three Christmas dinners, it would be fun for the holiday!
Used to be my mother’s favourite. Even when she was in hospital with a triple heart bypass, she was still doing Dawn French (Geraldine) impressions. It was then I realised I did love her. Changed my whole relationship with her.

Machka: Commiserations. Hope it is short lived. Good to be able to breathe easy.
