Hello Everyone!
I whined about my Walmart order (100$) that said it was delivered on Dec. 6th. Well, today it showed up on my front porch. I will be returning it to Walmart as I got the exact same thing from Amazon for $55. Aside from being embarrassed that I may have spoken too soon, I am glad that it can be taken care of. Especially after I wrote a bad review to Walmart.
I am looking over all the posts and just want to say thank you all for being here and prayers for those who need them. Today I was happy to read in my devotional (Ecclesiastes 7) that there is a time for everything and it made me think that we all go through good time and bad times.

Barbara - So glad your oven is repaired!
Annie - I agree with Heather now is the time to get help. One of your Dad’s church members may come and visit for a bit so you can get out as well. My parents church helped Mom out that way.
Heather - I looked at that duck, he is adorable!
Lisa - Bell bottoms are becoming popular again I think. You’ll be right in style.
Pip - Hugs to you.
Kim - that is so true.
I’m finding myself grieving my own Dad more again this year. He passed 11 year this past Saturday. I think because I loved my FIL so much he helped ease a bit of the pain. I realized though that this is the first year since I was probably 6 or 7 that I don’t get to write Dad on a Christmas tag.
Heather - your decoration is beautiful! You’ve given me an idea for some I have in a tray on my table.
Pip - I love the dogs sweaters.
I finished the 4 stockings tonight. I made them for our youngest daughter’s best friend. She gave me a not so subtle hint that she would really appreciate them and that she only bought a cheap “Baby’s First Christmas” stocking for their daughter last year.
Dad is a fire captain for the volunteer department in their town, she loves the mountains. Their grandmother buys a nutcracker each year for Grandson since he was born (he’s 12) and started a snow babies collection for the baby last year.
I sent her a picture of the backs to show they were complete and tease her a little and she said she loved them already.

Tracey - Those stockings are absolutely wonderful! Such creativity, and loving care goes into them.

Online shopping-I love it, generally. However, it's more expensive and I hate how the grocery store bags everything in plastic bags. That's something I do not need more of. I also spend less when I do this. If I go in, I pick up this and that because it looks neat, but I don't need it. Then my bill is far more.
However, in times of stress, it's a lifesaver.
Buy time. It's worth it.
For clothes-I tried going to the mall to find them, but the selection is slim, unflattering for me, or never in my size. Sadly, shopping online can also be overwhelming. The good news is that when I feel that getting to me, I just close the website and buy nothing.

Groceries are the same price here whether we buy them online or go into a store.
And the selection is about the same.
Sometimes they charge a small delivery fee, often they don't.
If I went to a store, I would have to drive which would cost time and money.
Just makes way more sense to save time and money. 😀
So far I have only purchased clothing online from the one department store I mentioned. I have been there in person quite a number of times in the past and have an idea what their clothing is like.
They've got good prices and good sales whether I go in person or shop online.
I got 2 lightweight 3/4 length pyjama bottoms for summer just recently for $7 each. 😀

Very nice.
Here's a Christmas tree idea if you get more ... photo taken by me this afternoon while walking through a shopping centre near work.

Great job on the garden beds! You will have a harvest before you know it? My sister has garden beds in large galvanized tubs. Some are cinder block ones. She has lots of rabbits, foxes, and nutras. So I know if she didn't have the beds she'd be fighting them. Now I am not positive rabbits don't hop into her tubs now.

Yes!!
If all goes well, we'll get two harvests ... it can often work that way with the long growing season here.
We have all sorts of "hoppies" that can get into our gardens - wallabies, pademelons, potoroos, bettongs, bandicoots, possums.

What to know about dehydration and joint pain
People with conditions such as arthritis may experience more discomfort in their joints if they are dehydrated.
This article discusses dehydration and joint pain, including definitions, how dehydration may cause joint pain, other causes of joint pain, and treatment.
.
.
.
How can dehydration affect the joints?
Because water makes up as much as 80% of cartilage, dehydration can have a large impact on the function of cartilage.
To work properly, cartilage needs plenty of water. The water within cartilage is essential for supporting its structure. Water also provides a medium through which different molecules within the cartilage can travel.
Cartilage reduces the friction between the bones that joints connect. If cartilage is not healthy, the increased friction in the joints may lead to joint pain.
Water also flushes toxins out of the body. This can reduce inflammation, which may also prevent or decrease joint pain.
This is especially true for people with arthritis, a condition that causes joint swelling or inflammation. Dehydration may worsen arthritis symptoms and lead to flare-ups of specific forms of arthritis, such as gout.

We had a scare with my mother this past weekend and it took a while for the story to come out. Turns out whatever happened (and I'm still not 100% what that was), happened a week earlier and she had not been well for the week, but was refusing to go to Emergency.
Finally, she went on Sunday and was diagnosed with a UTI (although I'm still not convinced she didn't have a TIA at the start of the whole thing ... but Emergency did check for that first. They had the same idea I had).
Plus she was very dehydrated.
We all know what happens when an older person gets a UTI ... it's even worse if a person is severely dehydrated.
She doesn't drink much to begin with ... almost half the recommended amount for women. Then when this all started, she cut her fluid intake way back.
I think she's doing a little bit better. She's on medication and is trying to drink a bit more. She's sounding a little more like my mother in her communications.
It's not easy when she's on the other side of the world.
Drink up ladies! No, not alcohol ... water!
I drink 2-3 litres of fluids a day which is just about right for women. They say for women to drink 2.2 litres or about 9 cups a day now.
Being a bit dehydrated makes me ache all over, gives me a pounding headache, makes me tired, gives me a higher chance of constipation and makes my kidneys hurt.
Plus my hands get wrinkly when I'm dehydrated.
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/9013-dehydration
Dehydration symptoms in adults may include:
Headache, delirium and confusion.
Tiredness (fatigue).
Dizziness, weakness and lightheadedness.
Dry mouth and/or a dry cough.
High heart rate but low blood pressure.
Loss of appetite but maybe craving sugar.
Flushed (red) skin.
Swollen feet.
Muscle cramps.
Heat intolerance or chills.
Constipation.
Dark-colored pee (urine). Your pee should be a pale, clear color.

Sorry to hear about your mother's UTI, Machka. My mother had intense delusions and hallucinations with hers.( My recent one caused me severe depression, but I was never dehydrated.) You would have spotted the signs earlier if you had been nearby, but you weren't, and I was only able to tell my brother what I suspected over the phone, because I didn't live nearby. He was desperate, thinking she had gone mad. I only recognised the symptoms because I had seen it on an episode of ER!
The men have been this morning to mend our front side fence, which blew down in a recent storm. John waved at the neighbour, who was looking through a window, and he came out to chat. Turns out that his wife, who we have chatted to many times, is a well-respected ice-skating coach, who has coached famous Olympic gold-medallists!!! We had no idea! She is still working. I must say, she looks very fit and slim for her age. The couple look after her mother, who receives nursing care in her own apartment. They split their time between the two properties. The care they employ must cost an absolute fortune, and they have been doing it for years. The husband gets some respite by going to work on his brother's farm locally.
Amazing what you don't know about people!
The fence looks great now. Good job.
John is going to make the stuffing for Christmas today and freeze it. As he had to thaw out chicken livers, I suggested it would be safest to thoroughly cook it today, and just reheat it at Christmas.
I am also going to have packet Paxo sage and onion, for nostalgia's sake, and because I really like it!

The "funny" thing was that I was so focused on stroke because of the symptoms I was being told, that I didn't think of UTI. It was my brother who suggested UTI!
He's quite a distance away from me and my parents, but we communicated more over the weekend than we have in a while! We found that we both have kidney stones in common!
My father just seemed confused, and his guess was that she had developed dementia suddenly one morning.
In talking to my aunt and uncle who were trying to help, it seems I'm going to have to research the aged care system in Canada and try to get my parents on a waiting list for care.

Tracey ~ Love the stockings! Do you have to sew all the beads on or glue. I just can't imaging all the work you put into them either way. Very creative.
Heather ~ Your silvery ball are beautiful.
Machka ~ Healing thoughts for your mom. I easily drink about two liters (qts) of water a day.

Rosemarie - good to hear you do have a reliable cleaner if you need one. It's impressive how much a professional cleaner can get done in just a couple hours. I'm keeping Collette as long as I can afford her and she wants to work. Yes, there's something about a clean house that lifts spirits.
I wonder what's going on with that young gal at the Cat Rescue. She must be in her own world - perhaps she's not intentionally ignoring you but just has a lot on her mind? It's good you don't have to be around her every day. I wonder if some kids these days get so attuned to communicating through their phones and devices they haven't a clue about communicating with people in real life.
Debbie - do you have a big kitchen? Your house must look like a baker's assembly line. Good job! I bet everything you make is delicious and will be appreciated. My neighbor Cheryl is like you and posted this photo of cookie & candy trays she'll be delivering to the neighbors today. I'm pretty sure one of them has my name on it. I feel more confident that I CAN stash them in the freezer and work on them little by little. Since I've been upping protein, I don't crave sugary treats much anymore. One thing I miss about work is that I'd set goodies like these on the break room table and they'd disappear quickly. Those engineers had a sweet tooth.
Lisa - nice job on the bell bottoms - I've seen them back in style in catalogs. Glad the propane tank is hooked up, you'll be all set for whatever winter brings your way. Glad you liked the chicken Christmas tree.
Carol - good ole Walmart, better late than never. Nice that it's finally resolved and you can return it and get your money back.
Barbara - glad the oven is holding temperature - that's a nice Christmas present right there.
Margaret - I read a little more about making the chaffles in a waffle iron. Several people commented to just make that recipe and cook it in a skillet like a pancake. I think that's what I'll do. Maybe make several little ones. I need to pick up almond flour next time I'm at the store.
Machka - thank you for the information about dehydration. Hope your mom is OK and starts drinking more fluids - that has to be scary for you being so far away.
Make it a good day!

Good morning ladies!
Machka, hope your mother recovers well. The distance and time difference must be a special challenge.
Thanks for all your kind words. Yes, simplify and ask for help are two great strategies. I did leave Mom with Dad so I could get groceries yesterday and it seemed to be okay. But mom also said in a later discussion that it was fine to leave her alone. I'm afraid she would try to cook. Or simply fall.
My sister wanted to come on Saturday but couldn't get a flight. Too close to Christmas, I guess.
Have a great day my friends!

Rosemarie-I have worked with some of our animal shelter staff and many of them march to the beat of a different drum. They do not have great people skills. I wouldn't take it personally. Socialization is not a skill everyone has.
Sounds like everyone is gearing up nicely for Christmas. Missing folks is part of it but I have found I can just have sad moments and not a sad season.
On antibiotic for my UTI-haven't heard from doctor. Massage was very helpful-think I will make a monthly event.
Children arrived safely and yesterday was a whirlwind. Step DIL upset because this past weekend I didn't confirm date to get everyone together (step kids have one time that will work. My kids had scheduled things with their friends already. I think as adults they can reach out to each other.
The grandkids are wonderful. Spent some time at my house after pick up (meeting friends for dinner before heading to hotel). Don't know why I worried about cleaning house-GS had all sorts of things pulled out to play with before I knew it!
Going to see if they want to go down for breakfast.
Take care all,
