Allie--Yes we do watch chasing classic cars and several of the other ones. Love seeing the older cars.
Rebecca--I can feel your excitment about DYS visit and so happy for you. I understand about going out for stamps and coming home with a car. That is why I tell DH he can not retire until I do as when I am working he is home he tends to go shopping. For anything from clothes to motorcycle.
Lanette--HUGS!
Rosemarie--Great news about the grant. Sounds like fun.
Annie--How scary. I agree he has a mind of his own and you can only do so much. Interesting question your dad asked about you finding a husband. First thing that came to mind is he aftraid you will find someone and leave him a lone? Just a thought.
Kylia--Sorry to hear the news about DH's health and his sleeping so much. Pray the doctor can get him to listen. My heart is doing the same thing. The 48 hours I wore the monior it stayed down. It only does it once in a while and I am usually not doing anything. Most the time I don't feel much just a light fluder.
Heather--Great news about your book. Looking forward to it.
Margaret--Sounds like a real nice service.
Debbie--So sorry about your mom's furbaby.
Am all caught up and glad everyone is keeping busy. This past week has been one thing after another. We did get away 2 days for a CMA event, but my shoulder has decided it is not happy and can not breath deep or move. Went to doctor yesterday and he said nothing is broken, badly pulled. So not sleeping well.
But the weather is beautiful at 50 degrees and snow is melting all over.

Good evening all:
Nothing new to report here. Didn't get anything I planned done at work yet was somehow busy all day. PT went well. Gave me another dry needling. The pain had reduced from last week (Friday) and therapist thought another was in order to try to convince foot differently! Not feeling bad right now. I think support stockings help-need to figure out best compression level.
Have to go do preregistration for medical appointments tomorrow and send a couple of emails.
Take care all,

Just got back from a beachwalk with Tina. It was such an enjoyable visit. We stopped midway for liquid refreshment and to scan the horizon for whales. I saw 2 spouts!
Today is last full day of my California Dreaming adventure. Covid and colds have been running thru my family so haven't spent any time with them. Tonight we will see who feels up to meeting for dinner.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

Well, kirby painted the bathroom, we went back to return the lighting fixtures we bought because they didn’t work out. We bought new fixtures, changed the light switches and put up the new mirrors.
I found a picture on Redfin of the bathroom that shows the wall mirrors as it was and how it looks now. Tomorrow, the new shower door gets installed.

Pip - That looks outstanding.1

Heather - you are correct I just need to do it.
The doctors here are doing that too, it’s terrible. I personally can’t be there when they open to get in the queue so it’s hard to see a doctor when you need one. I’m trying to find a new doctor but so far, no success.
Awe - I hope John and Bea feel better soon.
Machka - that’s a lot of books. I’ve read 4 in January. All Nora Roberts. I have decided to reread her trilogy’s. I said to my daughter when I started this one that I miss the days I took the bus and had bus transfers as book marks. The date on the “bookmark” left in the book gave me an idea of when I last read it. She suggested I make myself an old fashioned library card for the book, then I can just stamp it. It might be a fun little project. I have read some of her books 6 or 7 times. It’s like visiting old friends to me.
I love the “allsleepmatters” my daughter shared that post a few times. This is the same daughter who in kindergarten had to draw a picture of her favourite place on earth and she drew her bed with her in it. I still have that drawing.
One little boy in her class drew Heaven because he was sure there was a McDonald’s on every corner. At that time there wasn’t a McDonald’s closer than an hour away from town.
Lanette - thank you. I think others are noticing it as well.
It was a long road getting here.
Your poor SIL is there anything she can take for pain? My daughter had two slipped discs and was petrified of opioids. She used that “weed that shall not be named” for pain and it helped her for two years until she had surgery.
Rosemarie - is there a chance you may be depressed and that is making you tired? I know that happened to me. I was also very irritable.
Anmlmzdiet - I kicked the Coke habit a few years ago and then started again. I have been trying to limit myself the last month or so and am almost ready to kick it all. It’s so addictive.
Margaret - Some people just don’t understand what the other person is going through because they haven’t experienced it yet.
My SIL when one of my BF’s mother passed in an accident was at the house before the funeral asking if she could have something to remember her by. This same SIL when my FIL passed last year was livid when my MIL was adamant that DH brought things home with us.
Lisa - is your time value equivalent to the money that you would be saving? If it’s worth the investment of time it might be worth it.
Rita - Saudade - there are a few people that I would love to sit and talk with again. I miss them terribly. My maternal grandparents, my dad and my friend Linda. I could tell her absolutely anything and there was no judgement. She is the one I mentioned above that passed and my SIL was so inconsiderate.
Carol - I enjoyed Fern Michael’s too. I really enjoyed the Texas, Vegas and Kentucky series she had. I should try to find those again.
Feel better soon.
Vicki - is CMA country music association? Hope your shoulder heals fast.
Rori & Tina - it’s so nice when we get to meet in person I bet. Lovely photo ladies.
Pip - I love the bathroom redo. That’s a very pretty shade of yellow.
My wall has been completed for the mudding, I’ve cleaned up the dust for the first round, I’m sure more will settle overnight but it wasn’t bad. He has an attachment so his shop vac collects as he’s sanding. I put most things back since it will be at least another week before I can paint and the Grands will be here this weekend.
I had to look up a job posting for an Education Assistant today to write a cover letter that I could use to apply for it. I’m not really applying, it’s for our class this week. Career & Employment Strategies. There was only one full time posting and it was only for 30 hours a week. I like the idea of working that, but since it’s already a lower wage than what I was making, I can’t afford less than 37-38 hours per week. I hope when it comes time for me to actually apply there are some openings with more hours. I will also be starting as casual I would imagine.
I hope I don’t have to go back to office work after this. Although maybe an admin position at a school would be open since I have the EA too. I’m not really worrying right now, I won’t be getting a job until after June, a lot can change in that time.
I spoke to my BF tonight, she was livid when she called me. Her sister took their mother to the doctor yesterday and for no explanation had their mom’s drivers licence revoked. There is no reason that this should have been done, so the 4 siblings are having a meeting tomorrow night to find out what’s going on. Her sister is a spitting image of their father who abused their Mom for years. They divorced 37 years ago. Their Mom has said that she gets tongue tied and nervous around her sister so the thought is that her sister said something and their mother agreed. Their mother was having some memory issues but upon testing found it to be a medication she was on. She is doing very well now and just had a pacemaker put in and they cleared her to do whatever. This isolates her with a terrible man, no neighbours and no way to get to town. I hope they figure it out and she gets it back.
Our water ban is not expected to be over until next week. The repair should be done on Sunday, but by the time it is pumping at regular rates will be a few days later.
I made a card for Lauryn today. She loves music, books and all things shiny.
Kaitlyn’s will be tomorrow.
Her fund has stalled, no donations for three days. It currently sits at $10,106. When she stopped in last night for a minute she said they have the appointment on Friday with the geneticist. We’ll know more about the path they have to take after that. She also has to have another test done next month that will tell more of the story.

Tomorrow is my last day with my Granddaughter and her DH and my two Great Grandsons. Thursday I will fly back to WA and I’ll miss them terribly but at the same time I’m anxious to get home to my dog, Ella and my routine.
Lanette and all. Thanks for asking about my sister. I’m concerned that she has had a cold since middle December and can’t shake it. Also concerns about her adrenal insufficiency. We have appts at the cancer center in Seattle from February 12 thru 19. There will be scans and lab work and appts with all the specialists. I think we have to stay near the cancer center the first 3 days but I’m hoping the rest of the days we can day trip from home. We are so lucky to have a good team of doctors. I’ll update after the appointments.

Betsy - You have such a lot on your plate and in your heart. (((HUGS)))
A better night. I slept upstairs, in case John was restless with his cold, or snoring. I had an hour reading from 3 am till 4 am, but got seven hours in altogether.
I assume I will get his cold.
Perhaps, because his lunch is cancelled, we can have an art session after lunch. I might make a card or two with felt tip pen patterns I've seen on Instagram.
Lovely card, Tracey! She will be so delighted.

Machka: I have been a long time fan of Nora Roberts, Mary Higgins Clark and Sandra Brown. Also like Patricia Cornwall, Fern Michaels, and Lisa Regan (although some of hers have gotten old).

I have made a note of Fern Michaels and Lisa Regan.
But I do have to avoid all series because I can't get a whole series of anything here.
I like stories with mystery and suspense.

Pip-the before and after change in bathroom is amazing! A bit like on the show "No Demo Reno."
Lanette-regarding your SIL and pain-it will not knock you out like opioids, but after my last hip surgery they had changed up pain medicine protocol. They had me alternating Ibuprofen and acetaminophen . So one does of one at 8, does of the the next one at 10. That kept it in your system (and maybe the time between was longer). I also used that when I had a compression fracture (I didn't know it until almost 2 months after it happened). Thought it was a bad muscle pull/bruise. I did get a script for a mild muscle relaxant and that also helped release things.
Vicki-how did you pull a muscle in your shoulder? That sounds painful.
Roriand Tina-how nice you got to meet-and whale watching! Picture is very nice. Kylia and I will get one next time we see each other.
Betsy-I know that feeling of going to miss them but wanting to get back to routine. That happens when I visit kids in AZ (or they come here). Hope sister's cold improves and doctors find answers.
Slept very well last night. Think I am losing some of the stress (although there is always something stressful). Also foot is not the consistent level of pain. Apple Watch says I am averaging just under 7 hours sleep per night. I guess I may always have the occasional wake up or restless sleep but this is such an improvement. Didn't realize how bad it was until it started getting better.
Need to get workout in now before I leave for Columbus-will be in car for over 2 hours, not my favorite!
Take care all,

Good Wednesday,
Ginny Unfortunately I have had migraines all my life. My sister, youngest daughter, and oldest grand daughter have too. My mom has never even had a headache nor has my oldest daughter. I do know that when they tried cutting my estradiol dose it sent me to bed! They are affected by atmospheric pressures. I think my precursor is "feeling off". Still feeling it today.....sucks!
Terry Thank you for the design option. I think that will work!
Machka I enjoy Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown, and Mary Higgens Clark too.
@anmlmzdiet - Soda is hard withdrawal! Mine were Pepsi and Mountain Dew. It has been -wow- over 15 years since I quit. Every once in a while now I will have a splash in an adult beverage, but that is few and far between. Just stick with it! The idea of not drinking my calories helped me. As for being prolific, yep! I have been reading but not note taking and am only on page 70. Sometimes by the time I respond everyone else has already answered . Just keep on checking in.
@pinh. Keep moving as you can! Each extra small thing adds up!
Margaret Some people just don't understand courtesies. Arriving late is why my DH and I stop overnight before heading to my brother's. It is only 7 hr drive, but if we leave in morning then it just feels like we lost a day traveling. When we leave after work we would be arriving in middle of night. So we go halfway, stop, and arrive at acceptable hour. I am glad the service was beautiful, now remember to BREATH.
On to next page....

Vicki - sorry about that shoulder. How did you injure it? Praying it heals quickly.
Rori - great photo of you and Tina! Thanks for sharing, bet you gals had a nice visit. Thrilling when we get to meet each other in person.
Pip - that bathroom is awesome. Well done! Great paint job and the lights and blind are very nice If you two ever need a "side hustle" I bet you could hang out your shingle.
Lisa - that increase in disability is worth looking into for sure. Trawling through the paperwork involved might be worth it.
Margaret - glad the visitors have left and you can get things back in order at your house. Sorry the niece and family thought they were going to a full service B & B, they probably had no clue. Good that now you know to put stipulations in beforehand if they plan stop by again.
Rebecca - when do the boys arrive?
Carol - hope the colds get better soon.
Tracey - you have such a unique set of skills with your accounting background, artistic talent and the upcoming EA certification. Do you have a particular job in mind? I have a feeling once you get your foot in the door, others will see what an asset you are and it can lead to something that fits you perfectly. That birthday card is awesome. Hope your BF's mom's driver's license situation gets settled.
Betsy - thanks for the update on your sis. You can't beat the docs in Seattle for great medical care for her. And safe travels back to the lower 48, it looks like Anchorage is really getting dumped on with heavy snow these days.
Heather - hope John and Bea feel much better soon and you don't catch the crud.
Ginny - So glad your sleep is improving and your foot discomfort is backing off. Thank you for the pain med ideas. I'll check with my SIL today and see if they've come up with anything for her. Have a safe drive to Columbus.
I was reading up on calcium yesterday. The information from online "experts" runs the gamut from "dairy is the best source" to "no more than 1 serving of dairy per day since too much can harm bone health". Good gravy. I think it has to do with our genetics and cultural background, digestion.... many factors are involved. That's the trouble with these one-size-fits-all recommendations.
I went back to my MFP logs and did an assessment. Looks like I'm getting calcium from many sources, not just dairy, and some days I'm over the recommended amount for my age, some days I'm under, and most days I'm close to the mark.
That reminds me. I sauteed collards for supper last night. Chopped up the leaves and cooked them down in a little EVOO. Quite tasty. First time I've eaten them. Large amount of calcium right there.
Going shopping this morning. I want to hit the health food store - I see they are now carrying Kefir grains. I bought Kefir starter off Amazon a couple years ago - I liked the result but it wasn't the traditional grains. It ferments perfectly on the warm seed germination mat I keep on a little counter in the kitchen, so hoping the grains should do the same.
Make it a wonderful day.

There seem to be a lot of "long term" colds around. The weather doesn't help. I hope all get better soon.
Safe travels to those traveling.
Ginny When I had my thumb surgeries I alternated pain med with Tylenol which kept the pain at a dull level. It worked well. I too feel like I have been busy, but can't say what I got accomplished. I will say that I am still foggy brained and not feeling charitable still today. I NEED sunshine!
DH had a good birthday. His best friend took him to the casino and lunch during the day. No winning, but good time. Then my youngest daughter and family joined us for dinner and picked up the tab! It was relaxing and wonderful! (Yes, this is my trouble child) I found our she is histamine intolerant. That accounts for a lot of her health issues. I had to look it up. Basically her body can't process histamine, so then they build up and cause all sorts of symptoms...headache, nausea, diarrhea, itching, rashes, etc. I am thankful for the doctor that thought to test for this.
Migraine has really put a dent in my goals. Just keep doing what I can.....
I really can't handle noise right now....the TV, shower running, phone ringing....just feels like sensory overload. Man, I am grumpy....
Old age and medical...putting in spoiler to be sensitiveSo my brother called to say that his FIL who is 95 and been sick since before Christmas, was taken to hospital for not eating or drinking. They found mass in his throat.
My thought is why subject him to sedations, tests, hospitals....in my opinion, just no. His wife died 2 yrs ago. He is 95! He is a wonderful man. His loss would vibrate badly through the family, but why...It tirns out the lump was just some atuck matter that they cleared with an endoscope. More testing this week. I think something is wrong with my thinking. If someone or furry something is suffering especially old, why prolong? I hope he gets home soon with comfort and peace. It just seems intrusive to me. I hope i didn't offend anyone, but it really bothers me to subject to drastic measures when a decline as been noted. Maybe i am too accepting of death as a fact of life.I am not saying that it doesn't hurt when it happens, but.....This weighs heavy on my thoughts especially as i get older. I don't want heroics.
Better get ready for work. Ugh.
I am thankful for all of you!
Much love,

Pip Love the bathroom update!2
-
Kylia-sorry they are the atmospheric type. The pressure changes set off my arthritis. Now that I realize it I check accuweather to get an idea. If they are predicting high impact for arthritis I get some anti-inflammatory in my system ahead of time (catching up is tough). It gives sinus presssure, migraines and other stuff.3

As part of my job, I am participating in the consultation process for the new aged care act here in Australia.
One of the key points of the new act is an emphasis on the person's own choice.
No longer are we "putting mom in the nursing home". Now "mom" gets to decide if she wants to remain wherever she is currently living or if she wants to move somewhere else.
No longer are family members to decide what procedures the 95-year-old FIL will undergo. It's up to him. If he wants to do whatever it takes to continue living to 102 ... that's his decision.
And if it is a bad decision, certain designated people (a point I'm arguing in the consultations) can suggest alternatives, but the decision comes down to the person.
"We" ... as family, friends, acquaintances, etc. ... don't get to make those decisions.
However, the aged care acts in other countries may be different.
