@Teresa502 @martaindale thank you! Yes, I've heard driving there is challenging... And will be making sure I've got Collision Damage Waiver excess and all the other excesses covered.

San Jose. Osa peninsula+ MonteVerde for the nature and wildlife. Guanacaste for NYE for all the 'wooooo costaaaa ricaaaa babyyyy puraaa vidaaa babyyy' Americans partying on the beach! 😊

@quilteryoyo won't always do big vacays in December. In fact the last 3 were all October into November. I think this one is/was dictated to by rainy season.
So you never know!

That said, given I have a buddy in Asheville and that lies kinda half way-ish between FL and NJ... I'm sure there must be some NC race on or something the next I do that trip!

The 10k in my city (tomorrow?) just canceled the kids' race because of a big storm that's headed our way... sounds like awesome weather to race in and I'm jealous I can't do it 🤣

Nice uneventful 4 miles… rabbits, sun, light showers, rainbow. I don’t relish going out in the rain but I don’t mind what happens after I’ve set off… I am pretty much hardened to teaching skiing through all weathers, from blistering sun to sleet and hail: the only time we cancel lessons is for lightning storms (which has only happened once in the last 8 years) because of the metal on the slope, skis, poles and poma lift!

@polskagirl01 I generally like running in the rain at the end of a "running in the rain run" but not before going out and getting wet. Once I am wet, then I suppose I enjoy it, but it usually takes a while to get to that point .

Today I had a tempo workout planned 3x1600m repeats, then 2x 200 meter repeats. It is still quite cold out, but looks like it will be getting back up to "normal" temperatures in the next few days. I thought the workout would be really hard, but it was actually not difficult to hit all of my splits. I really think that I benefited greatly from the weather, but I will take it as a win. I can tell my overall endurance has improved, probably as a result of the long runs, as the 17.3km this morning didn't feel difficult, as well as my other long runs this week. I am starting to get excited about Berlin, although I am definitely someone who really enjoys the training process just as much as the event. Two weeks and two days to go.

150.3/270km for September.

@tarun_yadavA Anything with carbs and perhaps a nice cocktail. Pizza and an Aperol? Or a nice Mojito, perhaps. I’m supposed to meet an old friend after the race who lives in Berlin, so wherever we find a place that does not require hours of walking or U-Bahn to get to . Worst case, room service .

@tarun_yadavA I'm sure there are many races in NC. Let me know the next time you plan to be here and I'll see what I can find. Maybe we could talk @Teresa502 into meeting us for a race too. And maybe others in the "area."

Nice run @AmunahSki . I'm with you. I have enjoyed running in the rain, if it starts after I'm already out running. I don't think I have ever purposefully went out in the rain to run.

I went to the gym this morning. I was tired when I got home, so took a nice long nap.

I ran 6.25 miles this morning. It was 68°F and clear. There were lots of stars out. It was an uneventful, but nice run.

Got in 5.8 (at 09"39).

Going out for a meal tonight (Cantonese). Youngest had his 11+ entrance exams (will have to translate to American another time)... But he's been studying most of the summer (excl his birthday) so treating him tonight. Wok rice! Lol

I'm not sure I can even get the kids to youth group tonight because certain roads are flooded... but they're still holding the 10k in the city, and now people are fighting on Facebook about whether that was a good decision or not... meanwhile, it just keeps raining.

Hmmm... should I go rescue the pumpkins? I definitely don't want them to rot now that they've grown so well all summer. And by "rescue", I actually mean harvest by cutting up in the yard. I can't move them. Cutting them up would probably count as a workout for me (oooh, but it would be in the rain!) 😆

@polskagirl01 Save the pumpkins!! They looks like they are doing so well. It would be a shame to have them rot on the wet ground.

@tarun_yadavA Good job to your son for getting through his exams. He earned his wok rice! Definitely come back and explain what the 11+ entrance exams are.

Oh wow @polskagirl01 your pumpkins have grown up! I remember when they were just baby yellow flowers 😀 Yes I think you should do what you can to either save them or harvest them. It would be a shame for them to rot after all your hard work raising them.

I had to do a progression run today, but it was 79F when I woke up at 4am this morning, so I opted to do it on the treadmill. Wasn't as bad as I expected.
