Well Fox really screwed up the show showing episodes out of order originally and such so no one could follow along... then what happened to Wash in the movie... talk of bringing it back but it certainly would not be the same.

What I liked about Firefly was that it was sci fi but a little more "real". No aliens (sorry I have a hard time believing in them) and such and Joss tried to keep the science not too fiction-y. Plus every other sci fi show trends to be military based, this was more ordinary folk.

@lilaclovebird -that reminds me of a story. I once had a coworker ask me for money so he could buy alcohol on his days off and not have to go to the bar (I'm still trying to figure out the reasoning there...) Anyway, I refused. The next day we worked together, he came in to me and told me how he had to go to the bar and got himself into all kinds of trouble and it was all my fault because I didn't give him money when he asked me for it.

The guy was a diehard alcoholic, and if I remember correctly, his life fell apart not long after this.

Haha that's true about the military thing...still a diehard Trekkie, though!

Seriously? That's why he's an alcoholic. He can't take credit for his own mistakes and can't accept that the brief moment of relief the alcohol gives him is creating more problems than its solving.

I think your avatar is the first pissed off looking Sackboy I've seen.

Or was that your alcoholic co-worker's avatar?

Someone really has a problem when they k now they have the problem, and blames it one someone else like this guy did you.

I used to like Trek and Star Wars too, until I got sick of the military, EVERYONE is super disciplined society. I remember watching TNG (which I actually disliked) and even the kids pretty much didn't act that much like kids. I did like DS9 because Sisko was kind of a badass, especially one he found his cajones (I mean the Defiant).

Otherwise, I look at it this way: no cussin', no ruttin'... just no funnin'.

I had a different pissed off Sackboy avatar that I liked better, but it has disappeared and I can't find it anymore. And yeah, that guy really did have a problem. I wasn't angry at him, because once is so far down the rabbit hole, all you can do is sit back and watch the disaster play out.
DS9 is probably my favorite ST, though it's kinda the black sheep series. I didn't get really far with TOS, and TNG was was pretty good, but Picard was too much of a stuffed shirt sometimes. Sisko punched Q, how do you not enjoy that?! Ummm...*tucks inner geek back into its hiding place*

My afternoon nap was disturbed by the guy replacing our ducting (noisy bugger) in preparation for the heat pump install next week. Worse, he'll be back tomorrow while I'll be sleeping all day. #nightshiftwoes

I only work 2 nights in a row and both shifts were reduced from 12 to 10 hours so I guess I can't really complain.

I did that yesterday...supa fun! But all my classes and finals are done until Jan 7, so I should be able to sleep to my little heart's content!

So his gal & guy walk in with a beer in hand, a case with them. They have a reservation and ask for a police discount. I ask for a credit card and ID, she says she is paying cash, which we don't accept...I give her the whole "we need a CC" deal and she gets pissy saying the CC is for incidentals, she'll pay cash for the room. I repeat myself and she hands me a CC, declined. Try another, declined. Tries to pay cash again, complains about it and says that now we are going to charge her CC a fee if we cancel the reservation. I tell her we won't (can't charge your declined CC, believe it or not ;) ) and she tries a third, declined. As she is packing up her beer, she is all shizzy about "never staying here" blah, blah, blah...

    This is my problem...how?

And just when you think one's heard everything...competitive vaping comes in...that's a new one. shesh humanity never ceases to amaze me.

It will find a way, be assured of that.

Ok, adjusting to a new shift really really sucks, two weeks in and I still can't sleep for anything. Add on that one sinus infection after another...

@lilaclovebird, this one's for you. Unfortunately the store was closed (on a Saturday wtf?), so I couldn't buy it, and from what I could see it's the only one...

If I can get my hands on it, things would be all sorts of shiny, for a while anyway.

I've seen a Firefly board game on ThinkGeek.com but it wasn't Monopoly. Hours and hours of Firefly... *drool*

Poor kiddo came home sick from school today for the first time. Her birthday is a week away, hopefully she is better by then! We were planning on gettting party supplies, granparent presents, etc tomorrow...may be taking it easy instead. Poor turkey.

If you ask her what she want mom to make for dinner, her answer is always "Chicken body with mashed batatoes and veggies or frittata." (Chicken body is whole roasted chicken, lol) So I made a frittata the other night with proscioutto, Mahon cheese and scallions. Usually I use chorizo, peas and sun-dried tomatoes. And always served with homemade garlic mayo. Ridiculous. I could eat that shizz by the spoonful. Spicy raw garlicky goodness...

So...Jeanette...coworker who *kitten* about not getting Tuesday off, called in on Tuesday. This was to be expected. I totally got woken up at 8:30pm (I was taking a nap) that evening by Sergeant Young calling and then realizing that I was off and apologizing for disrupting my evening.
THEN she called in on Wednesday AND Thursday and is off on Fridays and Saturdays. Like, *kitten*! WTF?!
I COULD have had the opportunity for some serious overtime and wasn't called in which I have mixed feelings about.

We ALL know she wasn't actually sick and just wanted to move while she was still borrowing SSP's truck, but state employees are difficult to fire. My only hope is that she will get written up and then she will forget she's been written up within a 12 month period and do it again. THEN she MIGHT... MAYBE get fired.
I know a few people who would LOVE a position here who are much better workers.

There are just too many people in the world who don't have their smurf together and it's really bugging me.

For me...it's not so much that people don't have their poop in a group, it's that they expect others to come in and make up the difference, then get mad when they can't/won't. Like, some people need to suffer the consequences of their actions, or else how will they learn, y'know?

Welp, after a truly craptastic day, almost the first thing I did when I got to work was drop the portable phone and break the antennae.

I'm 167.4 this evening! I also had to tighten my belt. 10 more pounds until I'm in the healthy BMI range.
I plan on checking out the new HT Fitness in Bastrop to see what it would look like cost wise to get a membership and see what all they have to offer.

Jeanette can kiss my @$$ and I'll just have to show her what REAL effort will get you. Also, my house, the one that has been on and off the market since Dec. 2013 is for sale again. Right around the two year anniversary of me moving to Bastrop.
If I were in a better spot financially, I would totally buy it.

You know what cures the blues? French toast with an obscene amount of butter and syrup...or at least I'm gonna find out if it does...
