hey all!! sorry for this selfish post but i wanted to jump out of my hiding place for a bit lol.. i'll be going back to catch up and hopefully get a better post out soon! hope everyone is doing well and getting excited for the weekend.. i'll be working straight from fri-sun so my excitement is minimal.. not to mention that i've been in such a funk lately.. my motivation is in the gutter and to top it off i pigged out on cookies and rice krispie treats the last couple days.. i managed to get a couple runs in last week, so when i weighed in on monday, i maintained at 160. i was hoping for lower, but i guess it didn't help that i went out to eat like 3 times last week. i'm hoping that reading thru all your past posts will get me back on the path tomorrow, b/c it totally sucks how i'm feeling now. i def have to do something tom, since i have dinner plans with friends on thurs.. ugh i'm ready for january.. new year, new start!0

rai-you can totally reach your goal by the 1st!! just stay focused and you will hit it no problem...we still have 10 days to go!!!0
-
thanks tj. I appreciate your words of encouragement. We are traveling all day tomorrow, but I am going to bring along my turbo jam dvd and see if I can't get up early Thursday and do it. When my schedule is normal I'm a total morning person. Everyone else at the in-laws' house tends to sleep in so I can get my booty downstairs to work out. Also my dog is coming and she'll need to be walked.
ate like waay more chocolate covered almonds than I should. Don't have many calories for the rest of the day, but am dedicated myself now to at least stay under maintanence calories for today!!! Plus tracking everything! I can make it! If I don't make my December goal (although I really really want to)... at least I can have a Christmas full of choices that I'm proud of, right??
I'm going to put up a mini-goal for myself for the rest of this Christmas week/vacation: Focus on family. Not food!
In the past holidays have been basically about FOOD to me. I would be having conversations with family and friends all the while wondering when I could go for another helping without looking like a total pig. I would eat myself sick. This year my goal is to really focus on catching up with the family that will be all around me. I haven't talked to many of them for over a year so I'm sure there will be plenty to talk about.
Merry almost Christmas!0 -
Rai - I love your new goal! Family first! And this really resonates with me:
"If I don't make my December goal (although I really really want to)... at least I can have a Christmas full of choices that I'm proud of, right??"
Exactly! Sometimes life makes it really hard to reach our goals, but making the best of our circumstance and not throwing in the towel is exactly the type of attitude that you should be proud of. That's the "lifestyle" part. The weight WILL come off, over time, despite the holidays and anything else that might get in your way temporarily. Keeping that attitude will lead you to success. You can totally do this, Rachel - It's hard sometimes to maintain that attitude 24/7, but you're doing great and we'll all be there with you, trudging along.
Hope you get your Turbo Fire in tomorrow morning! Just get up and get it done!
Allie - Get back on track, girl! Its hard when you lose your steam like that, but we all have those days/weeks. Just re-commit and get it done. You're doing fabulous! :flowerforyou:
AFM - My body is ACHING today. Combination of standing at work all weekend on work boots, running on packed snow, and just general wear and tear, and my body is feeling run down. I'm supposed to be doing W3 of push-ups this week, but I tried to do my sets last night and I couldn't even get through the first set. Since I've got my "big race" on Sunday I'm going to take'er easy on Fri/Sat and so i'll so some weights today, and some easy cardio, a short run tomorrow and then REST on Fri and Sat. Might do some lifting on Fri but who knows. I know I haven't met my lifting goal for Dec, but oh well... I am making progress. Maybe I can re-commit to it in the New Year and try again. At least I'm doing something!
Can't wait for the New Year to start -- Fresh year and tons of new targets to set, milestones to reach, and PRs to blast all over this b*tch. That's right! Now lets just finish this month strong and then DIG IN in the New Year!
Meag0 -
Thanks for all the motivation this week...I finally got my long run in! 7.66 miles in 120 minutes outside...not too shabby if I do say so myself!!! Now off to make cookies with my girls!!! Gingerbread men, sugar cookies, and Santa's favorite, chocolate chip!!! Thank goodness I have all the extra calories
Melissa0 -
Good Morning!!
Laura – That’s awesome...you have just 1.5lbs to go & 10 days. You can do it even with a couple of cheat meals!! Good luck!!
Inskydiamonds – Congrats on your loss & reaching the half way mark! And, good to know that all your pains are gone now About your Dad, I think you will need to keep convincing him. It takes time for people to realize that they need to lose weight and do it in a healthy manner. But since they are people we care about, we need to keep pushing – sometimes calmly and with love, sometimes over a fight! I was the same but my Dad didn’t stop telling me to lose weight until I realized I needed to. And, I do realize that if he hadn’t taken so much effort to bring it to my attention I may have never realized or realized too late.
Stuartme – Congrats on your loss and getting done with your finals! I didn’t know about eatingwell.com earlier until I think you posted some recipe here, and now I really like that site. Thanks for introducing me to it!
Allislefttogain – you get up at 4:30am!!!!! I really admire you people who get up so early. For me it’s the most difficult thing to do. Hope I’m able to do it someday!
Roobean – Good work with the goodies. Some indulgence is definitely needed (that’s how I think)
Rai – No need to stress so much over such things. This is the season to enjoy and celebrate. You are lucky to be able to do all this & celebrate with your family. I miss doing all the preps for our festivals and celebrating since I don’t have too many people to celebrate with here. Don’t exercise and count calories if you don’t have the time, just try and eat healthy most of the time. Indulge in foods you like too but don’t over do it. And, just enjoy this once a year celebration
Now read your next post Like your thoughts about focusing on family vs food. Good luck & enjoy yourself!
Allie – Hope you are feeling better today. Good that you didn’t gain any weight. Maintaining is definitely better than gaining.
Meag – Take some rest girl. Truly admire your commitment! Btw I love the gingerbread house!
AFM, not doing so well with my goal of cooking twice a week but then cooking isn’t something I enjoy. My husband is responsible for the food Doing well with the rest of the goals – eating a fruit everyday & working out regularly.
I weighed 149lbs 2 weeks back and did not see a loss last week even though I was expecting some. Then, this Monday I skipped gym (1st time this month), so I weighed yesterday. I think I saw 146.5 but when I got back home & realized that’s 2.5lbs down I wasn’t sure if that’s what I really saw. Not logging it until I check again this evening. Fingers crossed!!
This weekend will be difficult with relatives coming over & then the outings planned for this weekend but I intend to get in my workouts & eat healthy, except for the one mean each weekend where I eat what I want.
Good luck everyone & enjoy yourselves!!0 -
I just made some little 2011 new years goals to keep me motivated into the new year. I got the idea from looking at a bunch of your profiles adn see what amazing progress you've gotten so far because you've set specific, timely, achievable goals.
My goals for 2011:
February 2011: 148 lbs (weight as of Dec 22 - 153)
March 2011: 145 lbs
April 2011: Run Vancouver Sun Run (10K) in under 60 mins. (Did it in 68 min last year)
May 2011: 140 lbs if I feel I can do it healthily
June 2011: Have completed 6 months of doing Kungfu 2 - 3 x a week consistently!
I only have goals for the first 6 months because I think I will need to reassess by then.
Let me know if you think my weight loss goals are reasonable - I can be a bit overachieving sometimes.0 -
Morning Everyone!
Meag- you are so Kick *kitten* I hope you know that. You really help me get up and do it when I need the push or feel tired. Good for you with all your workouts. Good idea to take it easy to get through to your race. Good luck! I am sure you will do amazing!!
SpellBinder- It is always exciting to see the scale go down! I hope it sticks good luck!
Rai- You are already ahead of the game being conscious and not giving up. Stick to it and stay focused! I am sure you will do great through the holidays.
AFM- It has been challenging with the guilt/stress lately but I have at least tried to keep to my goals and I have been conscious of what is happening and what I am doing. Def had a little too much chocolate yesterday at work and a cookie but I went and did my hour swim. I think I went too hard on the flip turns when I was doing a 500 and I tweaked my back. I woke up this morning early to do NMTZ but my back was not doing it. I laced up my shoes and tried to do a 30 minute run and stopped when it hurt too bad. My damn back sucks! I might have to take it easy tonight and tomorrow so I don't feel like death soon. O well at least I felt good about myself again. Here's to just making it through the next week and hitting the new year strong!0 -
Rachel Rai – Don’t worry too much about getting in partic workouts—I mean- awesome to try for! Reach for the stars and everything, but don’t beat yourself up if you miss. The people you are buying for or spending time with are more important. You can totally make your goal- just make your last Dec WI on the 3rd (I’m sure the judges won’t hold it against you.) And don’t even bother trying to keep your “official” weight with TOM around. Best to wait until day 1 or 2 is past. You don’t have to take a break to enjoy the holidays tho- Do the same you would do in any other party situation- prioritize! Have what you really want, just in smaller portions- focus on that rather than getting in your workouts in. You can get through this just one step at a time.
Tara – You, as usual, are totally killing it!!! WTG!
Meag- I CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR RACE!!! Def take it easy until race day tho.
SpellBinder- I think you’ve proly lost a good bit- you’ve done pretty well in sticking to your goals! Do you always log your weight at night?
Also as far as cooking goes (I’m sure there will be limited time in the ’10 range but for the New Year) I find it easiest to cook if I have everything prepped ahead of time- ie when I get in from the market, since I’m in chore mode, I chop up everything that will be chopped! And put them in baggies or Tupperware- mushrooms, onions, peppers, cucumbers, broccoli- anything I would want to just toss into a soup or wrap or pasta. Also check out your local deli for useful dinner supplements- I buy this great seafood salad, and then heat in a frying pan with a little soy sauce and ginger, and put over pasta or rice- viola! Dinner! Taco seasoning (I make my own), chicken broth, lemon juice, and pasta sauce- all can be mixed with meats, fish, veggies and pasta or rice (or sometimes wraps)- for endless simple dinners.
Allie- Deep breath of Chillin out. You can totally do this. With all those splurges, maintaining is totally a success! Try to take a day or two where you focus just on eating as healthy as you can- recenter yourself, readjust your body to healthy foods (maybe the Sunday after Christmas?) I had a similar week last week, maintaining with lots of parties and little splurges and spent my weekend just resetting my body (eggs for breakfast, small snack, veggie heavy lunch, greek yogurt, and then 2 of my fave dinner dishes). The one thing that will not help is getting down on yourself- it’s a counter productive waste of time!
Melissa – WTG girl! Sweet run!
Seripha- Awesome goals! You may find at the end that the lbs come off more slowly than they do now (so I’ve heard- I’ve never been there) but with the idea in the back of your head to reassess I think you’ll be pretty good. I actually set out my weekly goals through my goal weight and reassess every 3 months. The first 3 I was ahead of my goals so in the back of my mind, those are being “stored up” for weeks that I don’t lose when I get close to my goal (if that makes any sense). Also- KungFu? I am the intriguedness! Are you taking classes? Have a vid? I really am interested in KungFu (for totally dorky reasons) so I would love to hear more!
Aly – I’m glad you are feeling better, keep with it and you’ll get there!
AFM: Blew my 5k PR out of the water last night- 31:40!!! It was totally awesome- about 5.7 mph average speed for the 5k’s (plus a lighter jog for the rest- it was supposed to be a 4m run). WI Sat- should be interesting as I will be home. Contemplating taking my scale home b/c my parentals have the worst scale known to man. Last time I was home it listed me at 145 (I was 159). But it also varies A LOT which concerns me much more.
Just a bit of a tip that helped me get through Thanksgiving: WALK!!! Esp after a big meal or a cheat or indulgence or what ever you want to call it. Esp at family holidays it’s a really great activity- everyone can go together, you can be social and simultaneously away from extra food to pick at until you get your appetite in check (I always pick most just after I’ve eaten). And I really can’t speak to the science behind it, but I always find my “extra weight” from these meals is much more limited (I’ve even lost!) when I throw in 20-30 min of walking right after I eat. Any way, just something to keep in mind going into the week of parties.
Cheers to everyone and good luck going into the par-tay weekend!
Peace,
~Gonks0 -
Megg - It's through classes through a local kung fu school. The shifu there is a really good guy and he is pretty much the top kungfu guy for BC. I was taking a 1.5 hour class once a week last semester and we chatted at the end and he said I could go to the top if I really dedicated myself - so I'm going to do it and see what happens!
I wouldn't recommend a video for any martial art. To have proper technique and to be safe and not hurt yourself, it's important to have an instructor there who's accredited and knowlegable. If you're interested in getting into it I would suggest finding a couple schools in your area and dropping into the adult classes and see how it goes.
And I totally got into it for geeky reasons too. Like to know kungfu and be all pew pew pew with mad skills. But now I really like it also for it's strength and flexibility training. It's a good mix of kickings, punching, etc with classical techniques that are very much like dancing (which I love).0 -
I generally have always liked martial arts (though have had limited experience in them) but KungFu in particular I like b/c of a TV show that models it's fighting on 4 KungFu styles. I'm a total dork about it, but someday when I have $$ I plan to find a place to practice/learn cuz I would love to be all "pew pew pew" as it were :-)0

Rai-I love turbo Jam!! did you manage to get that workout in?? great thinkin bringing it along!
Meag-i agree...rest up, be ready for that race, you have been working like mad and altho you are a rock...everyone needs a break sometimes
Spell-I have got my fingers crossed for you and am sure that you will do well...you have been consistent at logging and seem to be also on your workouts!! keep us posted!
Seripha-I think that those are great goals for the new year, and should be very doable! and it's cool that you threw in some non scale goals as well!
Gonks-thanks girly congrats on your 5k run time that is awesome!! and i most DEF bring your scale along for your WI!!
AFM-well I had my WI today and although I am happy I had a loss, I don't feel that it reflected all of the work I put in this week! I only lost 1lb, which puts me at a toal of 5.2 so far for the month (goal is 8!), and leaves me with 2.8lbs to go in 9 days!! yikes!! I am going to keep doing what I am doing and maybe add in even more water and i guess some more cardio and see where that takes me!!0 -
Quick update ---- I did weigh-in at 146.5lbs!!!!!!! I'm so happy but still can't believe it. In fact, for some reason I'm not even comfortable logging it since I feel it's just temporary and will see a gain tomorrow. But I'm just about to log it...yayy!!
And I have 1.5lbs to go for this month's goal...WI on 1/3..0 -
When I first started running my mile, my bf had me just run the mile 5 days out of the week and then a mile and a half 1 day a week. That way you build up to being able to do it more often. Truthfully, as soon as I realized I could do the 1.5 miles, I started doing that almost everyday. I think most of it is in my mind. When I find out I CAN go further, I try to do it all the time.
But anyways, I would say stick with the 1 just trying to improve the time. Then slow it down some and go for the 1.5 one or two days a week.
Just a little comparison for you, I started running my whole 1 mile in September or so and now I'm already doing 2 miles, and I ran my first 2.5 miles today!
GOOD LUCK!0 -
ugh i messed up. meant to quote somebody. sorry people.0
-
Actually, I need some advice my friends. Tonight I ran my first mile straight! *Does wild happy dance* What is a normal increment from here? LOL! I'm working on my December goals and I have no idea where to go from here. I was trying to hard to get to that first mile and now that I'm here I don't know where to go. Do I just keep adding half a mile? Or do I say I want to run this many miles a week? I like having very distinct goals and I'm not sure what to say with this...
Any suggestions??

We're going to hit a new thread soon - In a few posts, you'll need to find the new thread linked at the bottom of page 20. It will be titled "Kicking *kitten* In Our Twenties - December Challenge!! - Part 2". Bump it or comment if you want to keep following. Otherwise you'll be left in the cold!
Update time - Glad to see some posts here!
Melissa - AWESOME run - 7.66 miles! Brilliant job, lady! And the cookies sound incredible. I'm glad they are all the way in Michigan away from my greedy paws  Hope you had a great time baking with the girls today and gifting the neighbours/friends. Sounds like a wonderful tradition and a great way to keep the cookie-eating in check. Besides, the neighbours probably love you! haha
Spellbinder - GREAT loss. And great job staying on track. Cooking regularly or not, you are doing a wonderful job and really staying accountable. Keep it up, even over the weekend - just do what you can, when you can, and enjoy your cheat meal!
Seripha - Great goals for 2011  I wish I could plan ahead like that! hehe I tend to set my new goals as I meet my current ones, without any expectations on my progress, but perhaps I need to be a little more confident and set longer term goals for myself... The only one I have right now is to run a Half in 2011 at some point. Not very specific, huh  I can't wait to hear about your 10k time - Under 1h would be such a mega accomplishment! 10k in under 60 mins is definitely a goal of mine for 2011, as well.
I think your weight-loss goals are very reasonable assuming you are seeing progress now. If it's taken you 12 months to lose 4 lbs, then probably not, but your weight loss seems to be moving along so 13lbs in 5 months seems very healthy and reasonable to me! If in March, you find it's just not happening, re-adjust. Nothing is set in stone. Just don't set yourself up for failure, allow for some flexibility, and work to conquer the goals you set. Most of all - be proud of all your successes thus far! You are doing fab, girl :drinker:
Aly - Thank you so much :blushing: Your posts are always so complimentary and make me blush! haha I'm glad that my commitment is motivating you to push harder and I hope that continues to be the case. Your athleticism has definitely helped to spur my interest in racing and possibly diversifying my training in the future to compete in other events. We'll see! Really hoping your back is feeling better in the morning - Take it easy and be kind to yourself. Definitely no weights until you see some noticeable improvement. No sense aggravating it - back pain is the worse and can be really debilitating if it's serious, so be careful! <<hugs>>
Gonks - I CAN'T WAIT TO RACE MY RACE!!!! hahahaha I'll definitely RACE home to tell you all about it! I'm sooo psyched and it's coming up in no time! I feel like it's really, really sneaking up on me. EEK! 10 freaking miles -- My head might explode!
FREAKING AWESOME 5K TIME, YOU ROCK STAR!! Holy, that totally deserved caps. You are amazing and I'm so bloody proud of you! I was like *beaming* with excitement when I saw this on my news feed earlier. WTG Gonks!! Love to see your pace/time progress -- It feels *almost* as good as my own  Can't wait to start training in Jan. We are going to kick so much *kitten*! :drinker:
Tara - 1lbs is 1lbs! Pretty solid loss for a week's work, girl. Plus you had a brilliant loss not too long ago so you should be very happy with it! Might not reflect all your hard work, but perhaps your body just needs time to recover? Give it time. The scale is moving down and that's all that matters! I'd take your WI on the 29th for the month and just call it a bit early... Don't bother having another WI on the 1st b/c it won't accurately reflect your weight loss after only 2 days. Our weight fluctuates so much during the week, could be majorly up or down. That's just my $0.02
knbrooks - Are you new to the thread? I don't remember seeing you post here before, but perhaps I'm just totally blanking :ohwell: Either way, welcome! And you're totally right - Running is very much a MENTAL game and doing something once leaves you with no excuses. You know you can do it and push yourself to repeat and repeat and repeat until it gets easy. You can't justify the "I can't" attitude anymore and so you just don't allow yourself to quit. So on days you feel strong and like you can conquer the world, aim high and push yourself, set your limits and then use those limits to set your running schedule for future weeks. Then, as you meet new goals, test your limits further and so on. I try to set and meet a new goal every single week - either distance, pace/time, or something else (like length/distance without walking, hill programs, speed intervals, etc). Reaching small goals helps to re-assure me of my progress and keeps me moving. It's a great motivator!
AFM --
Today was great! At least, I'm really freaking happy right now  Reading this thread always leaves me feeling wonderful. I love being a part of such a stellar community of women supporting women on their journey to be healthier, happier and more fulfilled. It's such a joy to know you all and to be a part of your MFP journey!
I had a wonderful evening with the boy tonight that ended with a lot of love-y gushing-ness and happiness, so that's got me feeling all ridiculous as well. Life is SO stressful sometimes but being with him brings me back to earth and reminds me that I CAN handle things and that nothing is out of control unless I allow myself to lose control - I'm the boss, here! And by here, I mean the boss of my life. I make my own decisions and I control my destiny, so to speak, and I know I can be successful in all facets of my life without totally freaking out and having an anxiety attack every 5 seconds. I just need to slowww down sometimes and take things day by day.
Had a very successful, productive day today. Finished up a bunch of stuff on my To Do list, finally, got a few really cute new shirts for $8 at Old Navy for lounging around the house (all XS - craziness!). Went to the gym today and got a good workout. I tried the "Cybex Arc Trainer" machine for the first time... And while I totally *hate* workout machines, this one was somewhat tolerable. It was still really hard to stay motivated and I couldn't bare more than 22 mins on it without wanting to slit my wrists, but at least it was better than the bike. For those of you that can elliptical for more than 15 mins - KUDOS! You have wayyyy more patience than me! :noway: Not a chance. I kept switching up my resistance and incline on the machine every 2-3 mins to keep things interesting and that seemed to help. Always trying to push myself to do more and more.
After that short burn (238 cals in 22 mins, not too shabby), I did 30 mins of lifting and REALLY pushed myself. I'm kicking *kitten* with my lifting and really forcing myself to lift more weight every single set. Increased 40lbs on leg press, 20lbs on bench press, and 15lbs on my calf raises. Rows and upright rows stayed the same but only because I had KILLED myself last week. I'm lifting 40lbs barbells for my rows now and I'm happy with it. Was definitely getting some stares/ogling at the gym, and I have to be honest - I LOVE IT! I'm a total gym babe now and it's hysterical! What silly boys....
Anyway - Short run tomorrow (2-3 miles?) and maybe some push-ups if I can lift my arms. Then Fri/Sat I am taking some rest time. Might lift but nothing strenuous. Definitely some R&R before Sunday!
Have a great Thursday everyone - Keep at it and work extra hard leading into the holidays!
Meag0 -
so remembered everything EXCEPT my turbo jam dvd!!!!!! :grumble: but my in-laws have P90 and P90 X so might do that in the morning- also have some stuff on demand. Whenever everyone gets up we are opening presents so I'm going to set my alarm to get 8 hours of sleep and if I'm up before mostly everyone I'll either do the dvds or take my doggie for a walk/run (brrrrr!). thank you everyone for their encouraging words. I've hunted out some healthy foods (fruit, veggies) in the house tonight to have for b-fast and snacking so I'm looking forward to starting out a new, better day tracking my cals.
i'm kind of confused on what to do as far as... what my goals for this Christmas holiday are for tracking/working out. Virtually impossible to do what I do at home. When you are visiting family your schedule is whatever theirs' is soo... I think my best bet is to just try my best. I'm going to try to make healthy choices (which for me... tracking helps a lot since I really need to see my intake recorded for it to sink in sometimes...but if I can't get to my computer I'll have to let it go), try and listen to my body when it is "full" and stop eating, enjoy a few holiday treats, and get workouts in when I can but not beat myself up if I can't. I'm going to have a really great time, but I'm also looking forward to getting back on track when I get home next week.
It is not a race.. it is not a race... the weight will come off over time. Even with all the set backs I've had this week... I took me much longer to put this weight on than it did to loose it... I won't balloon up in a couple days, although I understand I can still do some damage. I've working to hard just to binge on everything in site. I can enjoy holiday foods without eating til I want to puke. Dang!! I wish I could have learned that skill a long time ago... enjoying certain foods in moderation... eating just one cookie..
Something I did today that I'm proud of: Said no to a Bojangles b-fast biscuit this morning as we began our travels...even though I REALLY WANTED IT!! There was no reason to eat it. I wasn't hungry and was about to go to sleep. Drank water instead!
Love you all girls and thanks for listening to me rant and rave about my struggles. I know I've been selfish lately with the posts so thanks for bearing with me.0 -
Where... is everyone? DUDETTES!! I know it's Christmas and all, but come on! haha
Anyway, long day for me today. Up early, tons of errands done, got in a run but it was pretty lame and slow, and worked tonight at the bar. We were at max capacity by 1230 and the whole night was a total gong show. A girl had her nose broken in a "misunderstanding" of sorts in the women's restroom... Needless to say, it was a busy night! Tomorrow I am finishing up some stuff around the house, hitting the gym and then heading over to the boys for a night of lounging around, making homemade turkey tacos (w/ homemade taco seasoning and corn tortillas - yum!) and doing a whole lot of nothing. Hopefully an early night. Up tomorrow and home in the morning, since he's got to get to his family xmas shindig. I'm coming home to do laundry. Woot.
For breakfast on Sat we're trying these dessert packets my mom apparently used to make for us when we were younger... Here's the recipe. Super easy and hopefully (apparently) super yummy!
4 sheets phyllo pastry
4 cups of frozen or fresh fruit (frozen is easier but use what you have, and as much as you like)
1 package fat-free/sugar-free vanilla pudding mix (could use chocolate, I'm sure)
Pam
Preheat oven to 350F. Combine fruit and pudding mix in a bowl and set aside. Thaw phyllo pastry ahead of time and separate sheets. Spray each sheet lightly with Pam and fold in half. Arrange 1/4 of the fruit mixture on each sheet and fold into packets, so that each side has roughly the same number of phyllo layers (hard to explain in words, but you can figure it out!). Place seem side down on a cookie sheet (spray with Pam, as well, to avoid sticking) and spray tops lightly with Pam to help them brown in the oven. Bake for 15 mins or longer, until phyllo is golden brown and fruit is warmed through.
Per serving:
Calories 173
Carbs 38
Fat 1
Protein 4
Fiber 5
Sodium 442
(this is using 1 cup frozen blueberries, 2 cups frozen strawberries and 2 kiwi fruit for 4 servings)
This makes a substantial dessert! And apparently it tastes quite a bit like those flaky pastries you can buy in the stores... I'll let you guys know how they turn out Sat morning!
