Hi All,
I'd also like to join this thred. I'm 5' 7" and have lowly over the years seen my weight creep up from 9st at college to 9.5 stone when I had an active job, that around 10st 2lb pre pregancy. I then seem to gai a pound or two with every holiday, leaving me at 14lb after Xmas. I have a deskbound job now, which doesn't help.
Started MFP last week and have dropped just over 3lb. I'm determined to get under the 10 stone mark, and am aiming for 9.5 stone. I'm 40 next month and determined to tone up and be fabulous by then.
My husband has been very impressed with my increased excercise, no alcohol and stopping the snacking post Xmas, but colleagues keep saying "you're already slim," and passing the biscuits!

Hi everyone,
I wanted to say hi and join in with you all! Although I'm not over-weight, (5'7 and 10st 12 - 152 lbs) I am 21 lbs heavier than I was 3 years ago - I blame moving in with my boyfriend who has a super fast metabolism and eats like a horse! I also work from home now, so no longer get the 40 mins walk I used to do as part of my commute.
I'm keeping an eye on what I'm eating, trying to run 3 times a week (I'm aiming for a 5k in February and a 10k in April - wishful thinking?!) and my boyfriend is getting me started on some strength/weight training exercises. Now all I need is the motivation to keep going! I'm hoping I can get down to 10 stone (140 lbs) by the end of February - and also fit into some of my old clothes!
I haven't weighed myself this year yet (I last weighed on 31st Dec), but I'm buying some scales on Thursday, so will do so then - am hoping to have shifted at least 4 lbs since Christmas!0 -
Hi ladies...another shortie here!!! LOL I'm 5'1" and 135lbs... doesn't look horrible but my ideal weight is 117--119. If i can get to 120 I'd be more happy with myself. My problem area is my abs... and also want to tone my arms; cant wait to feel SexY again!0

Hey all! Sorry for being so inconsistent with posting :drinker:but I've been battling the binge and am now winning more often than losing
I don't have any post-holiday gain because we didn't celebrate Christmas or Western New Year, but the gloomy, cool, and rainy weather has made me want to just curl up and sleep, waking up only to eat! :laugh: Does anybody else feel this way? On the bright side, I've been eating less because I don't want to go get the food Just been drinking lots of hot water!0 -

Loise, I'm 5'7" also and I started my journey 6 months before my 40th birthday. I met my goal the week before my birthday and have been in maintenance for the last 2.5 months. Best birthday gift I have ever given myself. Good luck on your journey, I wish you all the best and welcome to the thread.0 -
Welcome elfward and DoralisM, I wish you the best in your journey. A lot of us have heard the "you don't need to lose weight" mantra from friends and family. But I can say that, looking the way all those people saw me, has been a good experience for me.
Sparklewolfie, I'm very inconsistent with my posting these days also. I've been so busy, already in the new year, finding time for the forum has been really hard. Most days, I can just get in log and have to run. I'm glad you are feeling stronger in your battle. I hope you continue to feel like you are winning the battle with your monster.

64.5 inches and 151 pounds - need to get back to my ideal weight - 135 in the winter, 130 in the summer. Anything under that and i get a really skinny face and start losing my curves. I've been using the app on and off since last spring and lost 10, and now i'm ready to commit.0 -
Hey all. I'm Kala. I found this message board and figured I'd chime in! I'd like to be a part of this. I am 5'6, 147.5 pounds and would like to get down to 135 so that's about 13 pounds to lose. It's always so hard to lose these last few. I started this summer at 155.6, so I'm almost 10 pounds from there, but still have another goal. I am new-ish to MFP. Need to update somethings on my profile, etc. I have used it before but only to track calories. Never really used the community section, but I think it would be great motivation...so, hello to all!0

hi everyone been reading your thread and was wondering if i could join for support!..im 5ft 4 and about 130ib would like to get back to 118 like i used to be, i lost weight before counting calories then stopped because i thought i could handle just eating healthy...it didnt happen i used it as an excuse to eat loads and accidently on puropse forget about how much i had really eaten each day because i wasnt logging anymore so i am back and ready to get back into it!0

I'm with you! People always tell me I don't need to lose weight but they haven't seen me in a bathing suit. I want to feel better about my body and look good in a bikini! I'm 5'8" and weigh 157 lbs. My goal is 145.0

i'm down here in the middle of the blizzard that hit the southeast and i'm stuck in my apartment with no healthy food all i have is frozen and packages items but i've managed to stay under my calorie count for the past 2 days. it's just the same old food is getting, well...old.

I tried the Self "bikini ready" workout on Netflix last night and it was tough. Lots of hand-weights, squats, and it seemed to require a lot more coordination than 30DS and I have no coordination so watching to figure out the moves wastes time.
Making the Cut sounds interesting, I am thinking I do need to get strict on my diet if I want to see abs, but I just worry that I wouldn't be able to maintain that kind of discipline and it would just come back (like when I am eating and drinking all-inlcusive in DR Feb. 19-can't wait!)0 -

If your diet is too high in sodium or carbs, it will be hard to see your abs, but you can always carb deplete for special occasions. If you are still talking about fat loss, it is interesting to note that there is only like a 50 cal difference between maintaining at 5 lbs less. Your big problem honestly is the beer. It promotes fat deposits on the abdomen. I would try to ease off as a lifestyle change.... :flowerforyou:
About the article you posted - she is totally right, it's so easy to claim "maintenance day" or not count as strictly. Plus you can't get away with a big deficit. I think this is why people say to approach fat loss 30 days at a time so we won't lose focus0 -

My Zumba and Aerobics classes start tonight. Super excited! I already burned almost 100 cals by shoveling this morning, can't imagine what 2 hours of cardio are gonna burn.0

woohoo! I got rid of those pesky holiday pounds!!! now to get back to hitting my goal of 110 - 115...
slow carbing and ESE is working out quite well so far. the only issue i have is that i get a major sweet craving at night! not sure what to do about that. i can workout and earn the right to eat something yummier than vegetables, legumes, or meat.
so my hubby and i stumbled on a super yummy recipe to cover our ice cream cravings:
1 can coconut milk - pour into an ice cube tray and freeze the day before!!!
1/3 cup cocoa powder
3 TBS agave nectar
blend it all together until it's a creamy consistency (i have the vitamix, so it handles this really well)

I haven't posted in the forums yet because I didn't really think I fit in. Now I do! I'm currently at 133lbs and my goal is 120. My coworkers can't fathom in the slightest bit why I'm trying to lose weight and it gets frustrating. Everyone knows their own body type and where they should be at/feel comfortable. They keep shoving pastries in my face and I have to run away.0

I don't think I'm going to be able to move tomorrow... My sorority sister is my workout buddy and she made me go early and do some leg and arm weights and then we did weights and toning during step aerobics. But I LOVE Zumba. I love getting to shake my hips!0 -

Woohoo! I'm definitely in this boat, I lost about 120 pounds last year, and the got stalled and took a break out of frustration, but as of Monday I am back on the wagon, I'm 5'10 and 154 right now, looking to get to whatever weight it is that will blow off these last pounds hanging out in my stomach, I'm thinking hopefully 130-135 should do it, I was at about 145 when I took a break and slowly put on 9 pounds, Christmas was deadly, no gym+tons of food+a death in the family=food everywhere.
But I'm hoping to be done by May and ready to be one hot animal by summer, I'm taking Crossfit classes Monday and Fridays right now, once it gets easier hopefully adding Wednesday to that as well and shooting for 3 days a week of cardio at the gym. weekends are hard to get to the gym for me so I'm considering those bonus work-outs but I'm definitely going to be trying to make it.
But another "skinny fat" girl I work with is on board, so we're both shooting to drop 20 pounds by May (June if that fails haha).

My belly is the first place I lose weight. It's been flat for months now. Before you throw rotten tomatoes at me... My *kitten* is still huge! :sad:
He he he... Seriously, I came to declare that I'm going to weigh Saturday! For the first time since Thanksgiving weekend. Meep! I'm excited and nervous. I just want 3lbs. That's it. Just 3. (I've accepted that averaging about half pound a week will be ok now that I'm smaller.) I've also decided to take a significant step toward building a healthy relationship with my scale. It's coming to live with my boyfriend here in town instead of 100mi away with my parents. It'll be easier to weigh myself more frequently, but it'll be too inconvenient to weigh compulsively. I think it's time.0 -
