Jess -- I don't have any plans for the 4th, really. Unusual for me, but I really want a BBQ pork sandwich, baked beans, and potato chips (HELLOOOOO SODIUM!). Maybe I'll make that for dinner on Saturday. I don't know why for some reason I really have it stuck in my head that she's coming July 3rd. Now that the show has happened I think I'm really getting my hopes up for it even though I'm trying really hard not to expect her to be here before her due date. I'm going to be so sad when I'm still pregnant on the 4th. Both my mom and MIL have predicted July 7th independently of each other. That'd be okay, but I really don't want to have to come to work at all next week.

Julie - ACK! So exciting! I love that the main reason you want her to come is so you don't have to work next week. I like it!
Jess - Sounds like a fun weekend - make sure you bring some veggies and fruit to grill too!
    lstpaul - Congrats on the smaller size! I'm with Heather - if I'm a 10 in one, I'm a 10 in all!
Allison - Thanks for keeping us chatting and motivated!
Momma - So glad you all had a great weekend. That picture is gorgeous - I want to go to there!
Heather - Thanks for the half-marathon rally...Fall 2012 seems much more doable than Fall 2011!!

    Checking in from yesterday:
    Cals - Under!
Water - 96 oz - CHECK on that goal!
Exercise - 45 minutes of Zumba, 35 minutes of fast walking. Burned 674 cals according to the HRM!
Proud - Great Zumba class, then a long walk. AND I made good choices at home while still treating myself with pudding! YUM!

Went to the gyno for my annual today. All is good. When I weighed in, I was about 3 lbs heavier than at home (going w/the home scale!). However, the cool thing was the nurse put the large weight on the 100 notch. When I smiled and politely moved it to the 150 notch, she got all surprised saying I didn't look over 150! Since this woman weighs LOTS of people everyday, I'm taking that as a supreme compliment!

Today is nothing but meetings for me, so here's a quick check-in.

    Yesterday:
    Calories: 429 under
    Sodium: 391 under
Water: 88+ ounces (not entirely sure, at LEAST 11 cups, though)
Exercise: 1 hour of personal training torture
Proud: I did the entire hour of PT without stopping or grumbling. That type of workout would have scared the bejeesus out of my a year ago (or 6 months ago!) but I just knew that it would be hard, but I could push myself and do it. And I did!

Anyway, I got home and had a great healthy, protein-rich dinner. Was too full to eat back more of those calories, so took a hot bath and passed out. I am quite sore today.

Also - I'm doing really well on my non-weight goals. I haven't been night snacking, I went to yoga this week, and while I haven't run yet this week, I plan to do a good one this weekend.

Okay ladies..I've got the urge to chop all my hair off. It's too dang hot for all this hair! Here's the haircut I'm thinking of getting. Maybe a little bit longer. Let me know what y'all think!

Momma, that picture is gorgeous! Where did you go (if you don't mind telling us)? My BIL is getting married in Monterey/Santa Cruz next year & I wanna know if I can expect some scenery like that! I'm an East coast girl. I've never been to California before so I'm excited about their wedding! Not so excited about a coast to coast plane ride with a 10-11ish month old though. :indifferent: Sorry, other passengers... :ohwell:

Allison-Great job on your meeting all your goals for the week. You're doing simply amazing!!

Lauren-Way to go on the scale! That's gotta feel great!! I can't wait till they don't have to use the 200 pounder!!

ReneckWmn: We are going to our family farmhouse in Wisconsin for the weekend, then early on the 4th driving to St. Louis (9 hour plus drive ... yuck!), staying there for 2 nights while my daughter check's out Missouri S & T and Univ. of St. Louis. Then we head to Univ. of Illinois at Urbana, and Purdue and will stay in Indiana for a night, then off to Chicago to tour Northwestern Univ. and stay in Chicago for 2 nights to sight-see, then back home to St. Paul with a stop at Univ. of Wisconsin at Madison. So six colleges in 5 days. Mostly my daughter and husband will do the touring (since I've been told I'm a 'helicopter parent' and am not wanted on the tours  , but my 10-yr old and I will hopefully have fun sight-seeing and swimming in the hotel pools. I'm NOT looking forward to all that driving/riding.

Julie, that is Santa Cruz! Monterey is just south of where that picture was taken. There is some beautiful coastline there. Also there is a boardwalk with rides and concerts. I am not sure if you have ever seen the 80's movie with Keifer Sutherland lost boys? That is Santa Cruz.

    Jess, love the haircut

lstpaul, how exciting about touring colleges. We dropped ours off for freshmen orientation before heading down to Santa Cruz. She will be going to school about 33 miles north of where we just spent our vacation. She loved the whole orientation thing and was able to get all the classes that she needed for the first semester. Senior year goes soooooo fast and you will be sending in applications for college as soon as October!

YAAAAAYYYY!!! They haven't set a date or a place yet so that's why I'm not sure if it'll be Monterey or Santa Cruz. Right now they live in Hawaii because he's stationed at Pearl Harbor. Hubby and I have being trying our darndest to convince them to just get married there since neither of us have ever been to HI. But her family is in Monterey so they decided to wait until he's stationed there again next year.\

I have seen The Lost Boys a few times, but man it's been LOOOONNNNGGGG time so I definitely don't remember it.

you will enjoy it. Be prepared though it is very chilli at night. And the daily average does not change much. 60's- upper 70's year round. We leave here in the valley and it is 105 get there and it is 78* in the summer. It feels quite warm though when you are just sitting on that beach. I have swam in the ocean in February before just because it is mild there. The nice thing is that when we are in the 50*s (yes we fluctuate that much here) and freezing it is still in the 60*s and 70*s there. Very consistent weather! I personally          Santa Cruz. Very fond memories growing up. My dad was from the area and he always took us. Back in the 70's you could stay on the pier all night and fish. During the day we would play on the beach and go to the boardwalk with our mom and my dad slept in the car. Then late at night we would meet dad on the pier and he would fish while we slept on the pier. I was always a bit afraid I would roll into the ocean.

Hi guys! Sorry I've been MIA - work then cottage on the weekends. And on my phone I can enter food but not see the message boards which really is frustrating because this message string is 80% of my success here!

Julie - my sister got married in that area - it's really beautiful! It was my husband's first trip to CA and he was like "Oh THIS is why its so popular!" He grew up with trips to the New England coast and Virgina.

    My goals for July:
    Lose 10 pounds
    Exercises 3 days a week
    swim once a week
    No Alcohol *sob!*

I'm going for ten pounds and I'm doing that because I think the added work to give up my wine had better be worth it!!!

Julie- my sister swears by scrubbing the kitchen floor from a squat to get labor rolling. Her last one was very stubborn so after three nights of floor scrubbing she added a smoothie made with fresh fruit, yogurt and *gag* 2 TBSP of cod liver oil. She said it is gross but worth it - labor starts within hours...

    Checking in for Wednesday:
    Calories - just over
    Water - OK
    Exercise - none
Proud - we went to my favorite bar for dinner and I ate mostly steamed mussels and only a four wings! PLUS I had iced tea and not one drop of alcohol!

I forgot to weigh in this morning, which I think is a good thing - I'm feeling incredibly sore from Wednesday's workout AND I feel like my rings are tighter this morning. I just feel all bloated and retaining watery and gross.

Not a good start to the holiday weekend.

    I'm cranky. :grumble:

    Yesterday
    Calories: 185 over
    Sodium: 660 under
    Water: 80 ounces
    Exercise: 40 minute slow walk
Proud: I enjoyed making a yummy dinner with a friend that's moving away this weekend. We got froyo as a last hurrah of sorts and while it put me over on cals, I didn't worry about it because I'd been so under the day before.

    So far, so good!

    Thursday check-in:

Er, I don't remember exactly what I weighed last week but I think I'm up a little. At my doc appointment this week I had gained about half a pound (but they round up :frown: ). It's a bit embarrassing, but just so I know for next week I'll announce that I've gained 38.4 pounds. :embarassed: I'm seriously pushing my 40 pound limit, eh? I was down half a pound from earlier this week though, so maybe I'm going in the opposite direction now.

Hopefully I won't need the total gained for next week because I'll have a baby instead.

So far I'm not doing so well on my monthly challenge, but I have high hopes for next week! :drinker:

Met my weight loss goal for the week, I am on track to meet that monthly weight loss goal of 8 pounds. 2.2 down 5.8 to go !!
Did NOT meet my daily water goal. Most day's but not all. 100% next week!!!
Met my exercise goal of 150 minutes per week. Did not meet my 2x strength for week.

So overall I am quite pleased with myself for this week.

I am so proud of all of you ladies

    My goals for July:
Lose 10 pounds - not quite the 2.5 I need but 1.4 is at least a start!
Exercises 3 days a week - I'll get two in this weekend :)
swim once a week -packing my suit for the lake!
No Alcohol *sob!* -I might have had a glass of Cline old vine zin last night... BUT JUST A GLASS! *fail*

I'm going to add a goal to my July quest - I'm going to update my measurements on the site. It will be ugly and possibly make me feel a wee bit depressed... but it's time I start back it this "FOR REALZ" and that's a good way to get to it!

Still here and doing great!! I have being running (yes I said running) on my elliptical everyday for 60 minutes and eating great. My husband is borderline diabetic and high blood pressure and a list of other things so we are trying to reverse it before it goes fulll blown. He has lost 28 pounds himself already but he is now on a lowfat, low sodium ,sugar free diet docs orders so I am trying to help him stick to it by doing it with him.Doctor said it would hurt me a bit either to follow it .Hope we can reverse this before it turns into diabetes and he has to start taking meds for it and high blood pressure.I have lost 7 pounds this week yes I said 7!! I am so excited

Ann, that's fantastic!! I think it's great you and hubby are doing this together. Way to go!!
Mstahl, good work on packing your suit. Enjoy the swimming!

Checking in from yesterday (yes, on a weekend!)
Cals - Right on point with exercise
    Water - 120 oz
Exercise - 1 hour of zumba, 20 min of hard walking = 700 burned cals!!
Proud - Great Zumba class, I'm really getting the hang of the routines!

I went to the gym this morning and did 30 min on the treadmill (running, walking, walking on an incline) and 30 minutes on the weight machines. I'd really like to see more definition in my muscles, so I know I need to start adding more weights.

    HAPPY LONG WEEKEND!!

I am now the proud owner of a (slightly used) washer and dryer! I am also now the proud owner of my first ever screwdriver. I'm a grown-up!

I continued to be cranky through last night, so had nice hermit evening and am feeling social again today. I'm still sore, so no workout beyond moving the washer and dryer up my stairs and into the laundry room. I might go for a walk downtown later, though, once it cools down.

Oh, and when out running errands this morning I caved and bought a digital scale for the bathroom. It appeared to weigh me 1/2 a pound heavier than the gym scale, so I just need to do some testing to see how it really compares. If I get too obsessed about getting on it in the mornings, I'm going to return it.

    Yesterday -

    Calories: 56 under
    Water: 80 ounces
    Sodium: 453 under
    Exercise: nada
Proud: I was able to keep the crankiness in check. Mostly.

    Happy 4th everyone!

Hope you all had great holiday weekends! Mine was pretty relaxed and enjoyable. I went to the gym twice (Sat and Mon) and did some walking on Sun. Not too shabby!

    Checking in for the weekend:
    Saturday
Cals - Over by 350....not too shabby for a BBQ day.
    Water - 96 oz!
Exercise - 30 min on the treadmill (mostly walking at an incline), 30 min on the weight machines
    Proud - Good workout!

    Sunday
Cals - Over by 800....errr....not so good....
Water - 88 oz (so close!)
Exercise - Walking for 25 min
Proud - My meals were good....my snacking was a bit out of control!

    Monday
Cals - Overby 127 - BOOYAH! That's pretty good to me!
Water - 112 oz (I got up to pee like 3 times in the middle of the night! Hubby kept asking if I was feeling ok!)
Exercise - 30 min on the elliptical, 30 min on the weight machines
    Proud - Uh....only over by 127 on July 4th?!? I'd say that's pretty awesome!

Looking forward to seeing everyone's check-ins!

Verdict on the new scale? TAKING IT BACK! If it were consistent, I think I could deal with having it in the bathroom and only getting on it a few times per week. HOWEVER, it is completely insane! It'll tell me one weight, then another, then another, then another! There's no consistency! Even with a 5 lb weight, it gave me several different readings.

Back to weighing on the gym scales once/week and that's IT.

    Saturday
    Calories: 30 under
    Sodium: 390 under
    Water: 64 ounces
Exercise: getting the washer/dryer off a truck, up some stairs, and into my apartment.
    Proud: I own a screwdriver!

    Sunday
    Calories: 162 under
    Sodium: 20 over
    Water: 56 ounces
    Exercise: none
Proud: I went out to dinner and still stayed under my cals.

    Monday
    Calories: 13 under
    Sodium: 442 over
    Water: 80 ounces
    Exercise: 50 minute walk
Proud: I got a lot accomplished around the house yesterday and made a really healthy/tasty dinner.

    hello!

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! I didn't track calories - so below are my best guesses :)

    Saturday:
Calories - over by less than 400 calories
    Water - not enough
    Exercise - not much

    Sunday:
Calories - over by 500 calories
Water - only if you count coffee and diet coke :ohwell:
    Exercise - a little walking

    Monday:
    Calories - over
    Water- plenty
    Exercise - nada

I was careful but not great over the weekend. I went out for lunch with family and didn't order anything but as I was sitting at the kids table I still had cheesy bread and some pasta. On Monday I had a spoon full of potato salad, red sauce with a little pasta and a lot of green beans, some cheese and a burger with lettuce for a bun. Then three half pieces of desert. OOPS!

I've been fighting a summer cold all weekend which just stinks! But the weather was beautiful and while family was out doing great outdoor activities like swimming and sailing... I was in a hammock reading. Well... you know... I uh... work really hard all week and all... and well... (yeah FAIL!).:grumble:

    Hi ladies!

I had an appointment today and my OB thinks baby will be here in the next few days! I'm 3cm dilated & totally effaced. That's almost 2 more cm dilated than I was last Wednesday. I've been having stronger contractions since last night & cramps and a backache on and off so I think I may actually be in slow early labor.

She stripped my membranes which I wasn't expecting & said they'd probably break my water at my next appointment if I were to make it until then but she said she'd be very surprised if baby wasn't here this weekend or sooner.

MIL and mom both predicted 7/7 independently of each other. My favorite OB is on call that day so my fingers are crossed that's the day!

SQUEEE!!!! JULIE - SO EXCITING!!!! YEAH HOORAY FOR YOU!!!! I can't wait to hear the updates!

    Yesterday's check-in:
Cals - Over by less than 100.
    Water - 88 oz....just 1 glass short of my 96 oz goal
Exercise - 55 min of pilates in the park, 30 min of walking
Proud - Enjoyed a pilates class (oh my core!) with a beautiful view....
