Oh Elli, I am so so sorry. My heart goes out to you but please don't blame yourself, it was Mica's time to go. :brokenheart: He is with Freeway now on Rainbow Bridge, Freeway is probably running under Mica's legs having a ball.
You take care of yourself, just as you told me.

Hi everyone! It has only been a couple of days but it seems like much longer reading the posts!!
Elli-- I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure you will miss your wonderful horse for a long time. Please know that you are in my thoughts.
Someone asked what NoS is awhile back and this is the url. http://nosdiet.com/ I had come to the point in my dieting 'career' where I just wanted to eat like a normal person, not a normal overweight person but one of those slim people who you see eating cake at birthdays or enjoying a special dinner out but also knows how to control it for the balance of the week. Another cyber friend had found this site several years ago and I hopped on the wagon. I love the program and am not sure why I fell apart. I am using the cop-out STRESS!! It is not a fast way to lose weight for most of us but it works. There is also an exercise program that goes along with it. The man that designed the program for his own use is not a diet guru, just a regular person who has lost a lot of weight and developed a great 6-pack in the process. Check out the exercise program, many people (mostly the men) really like it.
The program is NO Sweets, NO Seconds and No Snacks except SOMETIMES on days that start with S (Sat, Sun, and special days such as birthday or anniversary). I know, more info. than you wanted but there it is.
Marie-- Don't fret about the small gain, it likely is water and will come off. Stay with the program because you know it works for you!
Just a little update on Neil's foot. We saw the podiatrist yesterday and he probed a bit under the infected area and found it to be a very large and deep ischemic ulcer due to the loss of circulation. He suggests keeping him on antibiotics until it goes away and using a diff. cleanser, if it goes away. I think I feel more confident than he does about the recovery of the toe because I watched the blackened end of the toe recover circulation and heal. At the same time I feel sick to the bottom of my stomach at the prospect of him potentially losing the toe. Neil doesn't really understand what it means and I will leave it at that for now. There is very little pain and he can still go out and about (except for today when it is possibly going to snow!! Send us some of that California heat!!
I have a social worker coming to see Neil this afternoon so I better do a quick dusting and tidy-up!! Catch up with the rest of you later.
Keep smiling. (what else can you do) Gayla0 -
Gayla, the nos diet sounds interesting. I did read an article that said if we cut down on sugar we could lose 30 pounds in one year. I really try to watch my sugar along with no white flour and it seems to be working for me. I do on occasion have a caramel or something sweet but very little. Now that I am exercising again I hope I drop a few more pounds.
So sorry about Neil's toe, I do hope they can save it and the infection will clear up.
Exhausted from having Marisa here all day, going to go chill out on the couch. :laugh:0 -
Gayla, that is what the doc told me. and not to worry about it. I am just so glad Neil is able to get out on his own now. that will make a happyier boy. You need some good days. As I remember you did quite well on the NOS diet. I guess Mo is ttill on it. You had your family pretty well train for it too. Ideal for you. It is best that I stay completely away from Sweets for a little will just make me crave more. Keep us up to date on your progressed. But remmber calories do count no matter what diet you are on. I am still stickin to my every hour thing. except today I have just eaten every 3 hours. I discover a new treat today.. that is 1/2 high fiber whole wheat English muffin, toasted with laughting cow light swiss cheese 1 Wedge and fresh slice strawberries on top for just about 100 calories. yum.
Sandy---these grandkids can wear you out. More energy, Wish I had some.
Elli---Hope eveything is fine with you. So sorry about Mica.
barbiecat---You Rock Girl/
Big G---What a sweetheart you are.
Phoebe-- I guess you are still sewing?
Jeffrey---Busy as ever.
Jake ---are you getting back in the swing of things. Sounds like you are a ood cook.
Beth---How is your BF soing. where is he station? I know you told me but I forgot. I remember you said you both would be home about the same time.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

hi everyone - thank you all for your kind words about Mica. I miss him so much. I was trying to explain to my Soldier/Son (yes! i got to talk to him today) how wierd it feels to not have a horse or any livestock now. Just dogs and 2 cats. I dunno - it's hard to describe, almost like a period in my life is over. I just feel sad
:brokenheart: Couldn't drag myself to the gym this afternoon - worked in the house for an hour and a half and took the dogs for a 2 mile walk. That will have to do!
Gayla - i love the idea of the nos diet - but i know myself well enough to know on the days i COULD eat sweets - i would so go overboard. Nothing "normal" about me! I've always WANTED to be like that though - how you were describing people who have an occasional piece of cake, or an ice cream cone and then STOP! I'm sorry about Neil's toe - I'm sending positive healing energy waves his way.
Sandy - Mica will be good to Freeway - he's used to having doggies under his legs! Thank you for that visual. He's such a good horse. I've had him for 21 years! Lots of good memories. And you're right - when the vet called today to talk to me she said the same thing - it was his time...... You're so right Marie - they're ALL family to us!
Well - i lost the pound i gained back - actually the scale this morning was FINALLY under 120. BARELY tho -119.9! We'll see how it is next week. I wasn't too great today.
You're all great - i'll try and check in tomorrow before or after the wiring project! Thanks again friends.0 -
Another busy day
line dance, dog park, exercise bike, planned meals and a bunch of stuff related to the trip we're taking in May.
Elli---I'm so sorry about Mica---I've never had a pet for 21 years---it must be so empty without him:brokenheart:
Gayla----thanks for the info about the NoS diet. It sounds interesting:bigsmile:
Marie----we haven't been baking challah for our sabbath since we stopped eating white bread---tonight we substitued a whole wheat mini pita and it was a perfect addition to our sabbath:bigsmile:
breakfast--we split a three egg omelet with peppers, onion, tomato and salsa and each had two pieces of Sara Lee 45 calorie muti grain bread toasted with spray butter
lunch Gorton's 100 calorie salmon, cauliflower, 1/2 sweet potato, salad
dinner--protein shake with banana
sabbath---apple juice and mini pita
snack---Kashi cereal and soy milk
jake came to the dog park and walked for 25 minutes---he can't do yoga or golf but he's on the mend:bigsmile:
I don't know if I told you that the yoga teacher is 79 years old and one student is 78----that means I can do yoga for a lot of years
It's past my bedtime.
Hugs to all

Good Morning Everyone! And a happy Saturday!
The weather was beautiful yesterday, 80 degrees. I have some bad news. I will need your prayers. Yesterday I lost my job. It was really rotten and I suspect somewhat age induced. But it is what I have to deal with. It has just hit Day and I at a terrible time. One daughter still in college and one just out a bit. Our debt load is at is highest. We will survive, I am now concentrating on the gifts that I have been
given and all the positive in my life. But it really hurts. There was no reason offered for the release, my work numbers were good and I have never had anything but good reviews. Another one of life's challenges!
Ellie- I am so sad to hear of your loss. My heart breaks for you. Take care my thoughts are with you.
Gayla- You hang in there! I am rooting for you! I hope Neil heals quickly.
Everyone else- have a wonderful day!
I am going to get my chl checked today and then work on my garden. I have plenty of time now! LOL
I am also going to use this time to go to 2 a day workouts. That will really speed up my time table.
Check out the new ticker weight!0 -
Jeffrey I seen your ticker before I even read your post thats great. You went over 70 lbs.
I am so sorry about you losing your job. we have gone thru a few of those before we retired. My job went to Mexico.Lucky for us we were not in debt for anything. cars . house, etc. No credit card debt.
You will come out OK sonehow. Better Than ever.Enjoy a few days off.
Marie0 -
Barb, you keep me tired just reading your posts. You and Jake are so good at eating all healthy foods, do you every cheat and have something you never eat? You are doing great and the pounds seem to be melting off of both of you.
Jeff, what a terrible time to lose your job, I really am sorry. :frown: You are such a resourceful person, hopefully you will find something soon. I hope they gave you at least a severance package to help manage for a while. What is your occupation, is the field open for you? I will keep you and your family in my prayers, there is always a reason for everything, let go and let God handle this one.
Sandy0 -
oh Jeffrey - i'm SO sorry:noway: You and your family are so in my prayers. I'm going to pray that the 1 door closing will be something even better opening for you. Hang in there. I know everyone in our little group will be pulling for you. Thank you for your condolances also.
Barbiecat - you DO wear me out just reading about your day! No WONDER the weight is melting off you! I'm so glad Jake is on the mend and you'll be able to take your big trip in May. Very exciting:happy: I'm glad you're liking yoga too - i know you thought it was going to be too slow paced - but it's good huh? I have a friend - 35ish - at the gym and she told me she knows a woman her age who does nothing but "power yoga" and is "ripped". I don't know what that is. Jeff?
Thanks again everyone for your condolances. 21 years is a long time to have a pet. He was such a good old horse. I really love him and miss him - 'specially when i go out first thing in the morning - he'd always "talk" to me.......I'm going to have to figure out what do do about my 4 little acres getting overgrown too......
I did bad on food last night - the whole comfort thing. But i got up this morning and went to the gym right away and worked off 500 calories, so i felt better (and sweaty) about that......in a few hours the "crew" is coming over and we'll begin the wiring of the house:noway: kinda scary. I have 2 plans in place for tonight just in case i start to THINK about eating crazy. Hopefully i will USE one of those strategies!
Have a good weekend everybody - Jeff - i'm hoping that before your unemployment runs out something awesome will come along........0 -
Hi everyone! We did, indeed, get snow -- enough to look like a fluffy white blanket. Today the snow is nearly gone and will be by the end of the day. I am hoping that it is now time to take off the snow tires!! The robins looked a little dismayed as they huddled in the leafless trees. I have nothing planned to do today, love that!! I am going to reread the NoS plan to be sure I am remembering correctly. Dave will likely follow along as he more or less has been with the program. He really has the no snacking part under control. It will be a hard week for me! :frown: I will try not to be too grouchy. I would like to get Neil with the program but not sure it is a great time for him. Today I get to see his toe, it made me crazy not being able to look at it yesterday but the Doc wants the dressing left on for 2 days to not disturb any healing that takes place. It doesn't hurt so I am thankful for that (I think). I may get on my exercise bike today. Do you think an eliptical would be easier on the knees? My right knee has never returned to normal after a fall several months ago. It makes a lot of noise and often hurts doing stairs.
Jeffrey-- I am so sorry for the loss of your job. I hope it doesn't take long for something else to turn up. I will def. send a prayer for you. If it really is because of age you should be able to challenge that! You are a very positive person and know that often when one door closes another opens, one that will make you excited to go to work every day.
Sandy -- I hope you get to have a relaxing weekend.
Elli -- Don't worry about your food intake yesterday, today is a new day. You will wear off a lot of calories with your construction project this weekend. Best of luck with it, hope it all goes well.
Marie-- You amaze me, girlfriend, with creating such interesting 100 calorie treats. Don't give up on it, those 2 pounds will fall away and you will continue to lose. So glad your Dr. seems to support this plan.
Phoebe -- Are you home for the weekend?
Barbie -- You have an incredible energy level!! That is amazing about the age of your yoga teacher!!
Take care. Gayla0 -
I’m trying to post earlier in the day when my brain isn’t fried.
:flowerforyou: Jeffrey---I’m shocked that anyone wouldn’t want a focused motivated guy like you working for them. Stay in the moment and enjoy the opportunity to do extra workouts and pay extra attention to your yard and your family. That next door will open while you’re busy doing good things for yourself and your family. How great that you finally lost those next two pounds. You have really worked for that.
:flowerforyou: Sandy---thank you for your kind words. In January Jake and I made the decision that losing weight was a matter of life or death for us. We spend a lot of time talking about what to eat, how to exercise, how to avoid or navigate social eating situations, and how we have given up eating for entertainment. We took a lot of time reading labels and researching the calories and nutrition in food. We found that sticking to “clean eating “ allowed us a lot more food for our calories. Peanut butter or cashew butter are the foods that I love that are high calorie and hard to fit in. If we have a lighter lunch of fish, broccoli, and salad then there are usually enough calories for peanut butter and apple or cashew butter and a mini pita especially on a day filled with exercise. We are always on the lookout for a new food idea (Marie:flowerforyou: has had a bunch of good ideas in her 100 calorie meals)
:flowerforyou: Elli---good luck on your wiring. You’ve done your planning and education so I know it will go well even if it is scary. Having an eating plan is a good idea so you don’t end up making impulsive (bad) choices. Going to the gym to work off your comfort eating was so smart.
:flowerforyou: Gayla----is there a gym you can go to and try out some different exercise machines and make your own decision about what would be easier on your knees? I know that we bought a treadmill years ago after visiting a gym and using their treadmill. What about yoga or tai chi? They are both slower moving and lower impact.
Jake is doing great. He has done a little yoga at home. We’re starting to load the motorhome for our trip. We leave May 4. We travel with a laptop and there is wifi in all the campgrounds so we’ll be able to keep in touch.
Lunch today
lean sweet turkey sausage, broccoli, salad
Snack----mini pita with smart balance spread and cashew butter yum yum
Big hugs to all (((( )))))

Not sure I will be able to post tomorrow unless it is later in the evening. I am going to a baby shower and it starts at noon. Sunday I like to relax in the morning and read the paper while I drink my coffee.
Hope to get at least 30 minutes of exercise in before getting ready.
Jeff, great job in losing 71 pounds, you were aiming for 70 and got an extra pound for continued good workouts.Hope you and your wife are coping all right and taking advantage of your time together. Things will get better, just give it time.
Barbie, you must be taking good care of Jake, he will be back to his old self again soon. I wish I had your determination, you are so focused.
Elli, 500 calories? What did you do? I am sure I would faint if I worked that hard. You are such a hard worker, hope the wiring went well tonight.
Gayla, I have a stationary bike and an eliptical but I have bad knees and my knee doctor told me the eliptical is easier on the knees. A treadmill is the worst because of the pounding on the knees.
I don't use the bike anymore but I do some arobics but must admit that sometimes hurts my knees.
I had these series of shots that lubricate the knees and it seemed to help along with the aleve I take.
Going up and down stairs is the most painful and I can just forget about running. :grumble:
That is why I am glad my son told me to check this site out because I have never counted calories before and I finally have lost ten pounds which I tried to do for years. Although no one seems to notice I lost any weight because no one even mentioned it to me.Oh, well at least I know my clothes fit better and I feel better about myself.
Marie, our heroin, you do better than any of us, you just stay with your diet and stay healthy. I am so proud of you.
Bgama, how are you today? Hope all is well with you, missed your post today.
Phoebe, are you still sewing, what are you making, something huge??
Beth, hope it stopped raining and your shoes are all dry. Hope all is well with you and the rest of the troops. Keep safe and out of harms way. :flowerforyou:0 -
Good morning all,
Nice sunshining day here. May rain a little later on.
Don't have much to say. Just wnted to let you all know mt thoughts are with each of you.
this thread is the highlight of my life.Marie

I hope you all are having a very Blessed Sunday.:flowerforyou:0 -
Big G. Have a nice relaxing day and enjoy the race

Happy Sunday.
We have nice weather here so the dogs and I spent an hour at the dog park then Jake and I worked in the yard. He planted rose bushes, transplanted dahlias, and added new drip lines to the sprinkler system. Yes, his back is much better:bigsmile:   I pulled a lot of weeds.  Then I came in and rode the exercise bike.
The teenage girls who groom the dogs are coming over in a few minutes. It's always a lot of fun to have them here.
Enjoy your day no matter what the weather is like.
Barbie0 -
Barbie getting them doggies all nice and clean for their trip. Sammie sure need a bath. AHope Jerry break down and give him one soon. I am going to change out date here next Fridaay and let it run a month. Does that sound OK to you guys? So be looking for it next Friday morning. It will be for the month of May.
Marie0 -
Good morning all. I am starting to change my eating up a little. It is basic the same but it is south Beach Diet. Alice My daughter is on it and has work quite well for her. So I thought i will give it a try. Just to shake things up a little. I will start this morning. Even tho I have lost a lb of what I gain last week.
Gayla, Are you starting the NO S diet soon? Hope Neil got to go back to work. It is just wonderful that he is able to get out on his own some now.
Phoebe---What 'cha doing? we are having storms overhead now.
Jeffrey---- Hey my good buddie, How are you doing? busy at the gym and your garden.
Sandy---Hope you enjoy the baby shower yesterday. And that you can go in a slower pace this week.
BigG, How was the nascar race. seen a little on the news and look like a pretty bad accident.
barbiecat--- It is stormy out there. We needed it.
Jack---did you get those rose bushes planted?
Elli----How's the wiring coming along?
Beth---- My dear friend how was your weekend?
Love to all Marie0 -
Good Morning,
It is nice and warm here for now, but we too are expecting thunder storms. The baby shower was great, there was so much food there it was incredible. I did not do well and must confess I over ate and over drank. :explode: I just hate when I do that and wish I had better self control. :grumble:
I think I must have gained at least two pounds but again I am not recording it for my own self confidence. :blushing: Back to the drawing board today and hopefully this time I will stay on track. I am going to Minnesota next week to watch my grandsons, so I have to get into the swing of things so I can watch my calories while I am there. Luckily my daughter had the Wii Fit and the Wii Fitness coach, so I should be able to be a good girl.
Good luck with the new diet Marie, and I think your plan to start a new message board is good as long as they don't lock us out before then. You are doing a great job with it and we appreciate your hard work.
Hope everyone else is doing good and keeping on track. Try and have a wonderful day. :flowerforyou:
Sandy0 -
Hi all, as of today I've lost a total of 54 lbs. Almost there. I haven't weighed this little since Barbie and I were married. Cool huh?
Back's getting better, I'm getting wiser. That's what wisdom is you know, living through our dumb mistakes and then, at least saying that we'll "never do that again." We may do it again we'll know, however what the results will be if we do. Sometimes I surprise myself with my brilliance.
jake0 -
Barbiecat--- read on another thread where you have lost another 3 lbs. how great. You will have to go out and buy new cloths for your trip. ,
Sandy just hope you didn't do too much damage control. I have lost one of the 2 lbs I gain last week. I am on the South beach diet starting this morning. That eating every hour was just oo much trouble
This is baceially the same type of food. clean eating.
Marie0 -
GOOD MORNING..... I forgot to weigh this morning..and I have already eaten so I guess I will either do it in the morning..or just wait until next Monday...
Had a very quiet weekend...just enjoyed having my son home...and watched that very exciting Nascar race yesterday...The finish was something else...that was one of the worse accidents I have seen in along time....at one point I thought the car might go through the fence but thank goodness it held....was sorry to see that some of the fans were injured.....In the olden days of racing the fans were allowed to stand right at the fence and it was not a catch fence in those days..some might have been killed yesterday....Racing is so much safer now....for the drivers and the fans....
It is breezy here this morning...should get into the 70's today...
Not much going on today....might go to Target...but have not decided yet....
Have a good Monday....:flowerforyou:0 -
Big G---- I have forgotten to tell you they are turning our target into a super target. They have been working on it a long time. They took over a bunch of other stores to do it.
Have a good day.

Biggramma - i was glad to see on the weather that you have cooled down a big out there! WOW - it was HOT! Glad you had some time with your son. I love it when i get to hang out with my boys!
Marie - good luck with the new diet plan. I think you may be onto something there - changing things up so you don't get bored!
Jake - WOW! 54 pounds is AWESOME! You and Barbie are pretty amazing. Glad your back is getting better! You have a big trip coming up. Sounds like such a blast!
Sandy - I'm with you - i'm not recording my 2 pound gain. Makes me too depressed! What are you watching your grandsons do in MN? Why am i thinking ice hockey?????? You've lost 10 pounds - that is so GREAT. When i look at your pictures i see a woman who seems to be at a perfect weight! You look great. Are you here mostly for maintenance now? I'm hoping to lose the last 5 (i guess now 7) pounds i've been struggling with and then staying here to MAINTAIN.
Did anyone manage to find the Sportea? It really is good stuff.:drinker:
I'm tired  we worked hard over the weekend - then i worried and couldn't sleep last night. I'll be glad when i can ever move back into my house. It seems a very long way off. Don't mean to complain - i have a great little place to stay.
Well - i better get back to WORK! Have a good monday everybody.elli

Good Morning and Afternoon Everyone!
Jake- Glad to see you back! and congratulations on the weight loss! That is quite a job!
Everyone- Thank you for your nice thoughts on my job loss. I had a little pity party and I am moving on now. I was a rotten deal and it stunk. But a lot of life is like that. I have already produced a 1600 calorie burn and I still have my Plyometrics yet to do. That will be 900-1100 calorie burn. So it will be a good day! I had a salmon pattie for lunch and a banana. The banana will stablize electrolites in the body and kicking it up like I have I will really appreciate that later ( reduction of leg cramps). I will try to start up loading some pics in the next day or so then you can see me! LOL
Gayla- how is Neils toe doing?
Marie- Always good to read your post.
Barbie- Keep at it!
Sandy- Have a great day!
Elle- This week will be better for us!
Beth- Where you at? Don't make me come and look for you! LOL
BG- Did it cool off yet?
Pheobe- Whats new with you?
If I missed anyone I will catch up with you later! I am going to try for a 3# loss this week. Not too much to go to get there already!
Jeffrey0 -
I feel better now, this morning I did 45 minutes on my elliptical and 30 minutes of arobics so I gained 235 calories. I just feel better when I exercise, so I am so happy to be on this site with you my friends sharing our ups and downs.
Elli, I am going to Minnesota to stay with my two grandsons while my daughter and her husband go on a trip to California and then on a 5 day cruise. They are home schooled so I think I will just be overseeing what they do and keep them on track. We will also do some things together, and probably play some Wii games. They are 10 and 12, so I am sure they would rather play with their friends then their grandma.
And Elli I am 5' 4" and would like to weigh 129 pounds. I am right now at 136 (or maybe 138 today) and for my age (67) it is probably an okay weight, but I would just like to get as close to 130 as I can.
I started out at my heaviest weight which I think was close to 150 but when I joined this site I was at 146. I wasn't exercising like I used to, so for me this in the ideal place to be to keep me focused.
All your stories and weight loses are so inspirational, especially those who have lost so much.
I know I will never look 35 again and I am happy with my life, but I also don't want to be an "old" grandma. My 14 year granddaughter compliments me a lot and since I do exercise again I have more energy and can keep up with these kids. So I am enjoying my life to it's fullest and of course it is always great when people think I am younger than I am.
Thanks for listening and letting me go on and on. :ohwell:
Sandy0 -
Jeffrey - yes! this week WILL be a better week for us! I appreciate your positive attitude!. OK - do you mean to tell me today you will eat your regular calories PLUS the 2600 :noway: (that is freaking AMAZING!) you burned??????? I hope you'll take a few days just to "regroup" before you start job hunting. I know we're all going to be pulling for you!
Sandy - that sounds like fun with your 2 grandsons. Your daughter and her hubby are so lucky to have you! I think you and i are kind of in the same boat weightwise. I'm 5'2" and feel the best at 115. Today i'm almost back up to 122:grumble: I'm sure we're both at an "ok" weight - we just feel better 5 or 6 pounds lighter. I LOVE it that your 14 yr old granddaughter compliments you. I too, never want to be an OLD gramma - but those dang kids are going to have to get GOING!
Beth - you better talk to us before Jeff heads over there!!!!!!!!I told my son about you - of course he wanted to know your rank.......boys! Hopefully whatever your rank you're snoozing away right now  (its 2pm in CO - that makes it midnight in Iraq - don't know about Afganastan). BeSafe!

Hi everybody:bigsmile:
We've got great weather here and it's too nice to stay indoors.
I played golf this morning and now I'm off to see the chiropractor:laugh:
