The dogs and I have just come back from an hour playing and walking at the dog park with a boxer, labradoodle, weimardoodle, and a bunch of other dogs. The weather here is beautiful here----63 degrees right now.
Today is my weigh-in day and I lost 3 more pounds. YIPPEE

:flowerforyou: Marie---I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about the South Beach Diet. I hope it works for you. I’ll be looking for the new message board. Thanks for doing this for us. I’m going to start thinking of some good goals for May.
:flowerforyou: Sandy---just take it one day at a time. Your Minnesota trip might be the time you get the inspiration for sticking to your food plan. How great that you’ll be able to continue with WII fitness. Is there a good place to walk where you’ll be staying? I’m with you about a goal weight. I’m 5’3” and have set 129 as a goal even though I saw 136 suggested for my age and height. Right now the pounds are coming off but I know that it won’t be the same as I get closer to my goal.
:flowerforyou: Biggramma---glad your weather is more moderate. Glad you and your son were able to enjoy the race together.
:flowerforyou: Elli----you deserve a rest after all your hard work. Being awake and worrying really bugs me too. At least I’m not going back to my old habits of getting up in the middle of the night and eating cookies and watching TV when I can’t sleep.   I know you’ll be so happy when your house is ready.
:flowerforyou: Jeffrey----I had a friend who used to set the timer when she was feeling sorry for herself about something and when the timer went off she would say “that’s enough” and get back to business. It looks like you have the same healthy attitude. Yes, it would be great if you used some of your unexpected “vacation” to load some pictures of yourself and your family. I know I’m not the only one who’d like to see them. Your workout sounds awesome.
:flowerforyou: Beth---Be safe and stay dry---do you have your hula hoop yet? I can’t wait to hear how it goes.
Gotta go---too long sitting down.
Big hugs to all ((( )))

Hi everyone! I have been off for 4 days and now am madly doing laundry!! Oh well, it will get done and then another load will begin. We went in to have brunch with my son and his girlfriend as they leave for San Fran. tomorrow to visit friends.
Neils' foot still looks yucky (very medical term). I have it open to room air and will redress it in a bit. I am waiting for his Doc to call. He will need his anitbiotics extended and we don't have an appt. until Thursday.
Today is the day that my eating changes. Going for brunch made it a bit hard but I did ok. I am going to have a very late lunch and then dinner about 7. I am just planning some fuit and a half bagel so that I am not starving for dinner.
Hopefully I will get back this evening but have to run for now. Take care and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Good evening.....I did not do much today...I just am not feeling 100%...stomach is sort of bothering me....So I just decided to stay home and play games on here and Facebook......
Did change my profile picture...decided that since this is a healthy lifestyle site...I would put a picture of me taken in April 2008 on my big elliptical machine...
I hope everyone is staying healthy...and having a good evening...:flowerforyou:0 -

Hope all goes well with the heart doctor and your feet.
Big hugs,
Barbie0 -
Biggramma - you look awesome! I like your new picture
Gayla - how's Neil's yucky toe doing? It sure is a good thing you're a nurse! I'm so proud of you for making a food change starting yesterday!!!!!!
Marie - Sportea is what i drink a quart of every day. There are zero calories - it's ginseng based, tastes good and i count it as part of my water. It brews cold in the fridge. They have a website - i think it's just www.Sportea.com check it out!:flowerforyou: Hope your doc visit goes well! I know what you mean about all the specialists! sheesh - and of course, you can't see one, without seeing another FIRST.....it seems a little crazy sometimes.:noway:
Barbie - how's the packing and getting ready going?
Jake! So GLAD you're doing better! You must be getting excited to get on the road!
Have a good day everyone :drinker: elli0 -
Another poo poo day. :grumble: I wonder if we will ever have warm weather??
My weight went down to my ten pound loss, so I am happy. I hope to do the same exercise routine today except for yoga instead of arobics.
Marie, congratulations on your loss and good luck at the heart doctor. I remember when we only had one doctor and I liked it better. Although without these great heart doctors, and the new treatments we wouldn't be living so long.
Barbie, another 3 pounds, the weight seems to melt off of you.I know you work hard and you are very focused on your diet. Good job, keep up the good work.
Bgamma, you elliptical is great and you look so thin. Are you still using it?
Jeff, hope you are well, congratulations on your weight loss as well.
Elli, hope you got some rest and take some time to just relax. You are going to burn yourself out. :frown:
Jake, good for you on getting your body back to when you met your bride.Glad your back is feeling better.
Gayla, good luck on the change of diet. Poor Neil, I bet he wishes his foot would heal so he can do what he wants. I again applaude you for all that you do for him. :drinker:
Phoebe, are you MIA again?
Beth, hope all is well there, sounds like we will have to send Jeff there to look for you, :noway:
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Yes barbiecat I will have Hummus only with vegies instead of crakers or mini pitas for the first couple weeks. Had some yesterday with cucumbers. They have a recipe for hummus in their book. But I think I will make another batch o pumpkin hummus since I got got that bottle of pumpkin oil. It should go good with celery sticks. I did have to eat a mini pita yesterday for my blood sugar got too low. Enjoy every bite of it. The first 2 weeks no fruit, no bread. But after that you can have them aain. I am keeping a real close look at my my blood sugar on this plan.
here is my menu for today:
Breakfast---!/2 c egg beaters, 1/2 c spinach., 6 oz. tomatoes juice
Snack---Hummus and sl. cucumbers
Lunch---grilled chicken, Big salad
Snack---Laughing cow and a very small salad
Supper---Grilled fish, Green beans, salad
Snack---1/2 c. ricotti cheese., with vanaila, apkg stevia
Pretty simple
Have a good day
Marie0 -
Marie - you are so disciplined! I couldn't do 2 weeks with no fruit, no bread!
the ricotta with vanilla and stevia sounds good - i've also made it with stevia and cinnamon. elli

Elli, will try that tonight. thanks0

Good morning.....Hope this finds you all doing well....
In answer to the questions about my elliptical machine......If you look at my pictures on my profile you will see it is very large...my son who at the time weighed 383 bought it so it would hold his weight.(and he only used it for one month  ) however I do use it every day except Sunday....I give my body one day of rest a week....I do two 15 minute sessions on level 2 most days...sometimes I can go 20 minutes.....I am very impressed when I read about those of you who walk on yours for 30 -45 minutes....
This machine is in my small living room and does take up a lot of room..but that is ok...I do not need much room......as long as I have room for my sofa, computer desk and my TV I am happy....
These pictures were taken last April right after we got this machine...for me it has been very helpful in maintaining my weight loss....
Have a terrific Tuesday.:flowerforyou:0 -
Good for you Bgamma, I only do level one that is why I can go for 45 minutes, although I am very tired when I get done. I prefer to only do 30 minutes and 30 minutes of something else, but I do feel it gives me the best workout and burns the most calories. When I am bad :glasses: I do more to make up for the calories I shouldn't have. But most of the time I am good.
You are definitely an inspiration to all of us. You not only took off the weight you are maintaining it.
Thanks for sharing with us.

Good Afternoon from rainy, muggy Washington.
We woke up to rain and by afternoon it was hot (55 degrees) and muggy. The dogs and I had a wonderful hour at the dog park and I’m exhausted so I figure that I’ve earned some time to sit down at the computer. The dogs are sacked out in bed.
:flowerforyou: Big G. thanks for posting the picture of you and the elliptical. You both look great. When Jake wanted to buy the exercise bike I couldn’t imagine it sitting in the middle of the living room. Now I love it because I can exercise in front of the TV and I don’t feel left out or isolated. So I understand you putting it in the middle of your living room. If getting fit and healthy is important then exercise equipment should have an important place in the house. I tried an elliptical at a gym when we were on vacation. I liked it but I stayed on level one.
:flowerforyou: Elli
we brew herb tea in big jars and then chill them in the refrigerator. I’m going to be on the lookout for Sport tea. It sounds easier. We are very busy getting ready to travel. We have a lot of lists and bags to put things in. Jake is out there now doing some of the things he needs to get ready (like packing his golf clubs under the bed)
:flowerforyou: Sandy----Congrats on your weight loss----keep up the exercising and don’t let the weather get you down. Spring will come sooner or later. Do you do yoga at home or at a class?
:flowerforyou: Marie—your new food plan sounds tasty
we went through Passover with no grains but we could eat fruit. I’m glad you can have hummus. Jake put some on his fish yesterday
:flowerforyou: Gayla---good luck on your new eating plan.
big hugs to all((( )))

Hi everyone! Feeling lucky today! All around us there has been snow today and none of that pesky white stuff on our lawn!! I hope it stays that way until December. The eating has gone well today. I did get a bit hungry between lunch and dinner but made it through. I made chili for dinner with lots of beans so it should hold me until bedtime or morning, I hope. I am not adjusting my single portions too much this week, mostly want to get the snacking under control. My computer is in the kitchen right next to the fridge, I don't think it is healthy for me. Three more days and I will have an S day so will plan to have something special.
Why is food always prime in my life?? I remember special occasions by what we ate. I am really sick!! :noway: Going to the movies is more about the popcorn than the movie, I think you are seeing this clearly. Worst of all, I love to cook!!
Neil's toe is much the same, I will fix it up tonight and hope that it is improved by Thursday. His surgeon wants to leave it until then. He is worried about him becoming antibiotic resistant, as I am.
Marie--It sounds like you have a good Dr. I hope all the tests turn out ok.
Beth -- I hope everything is ok for you. You pop into my thoughts frequently.
BG -- You go, girl, on your eliptical.
Elli -- How did the wiring go? Hope you are hanging in there.
Sandy -- WTG with the loss. Exercise really is the key.
Barbie-- Woohoo, you will be on the road in no time. You are an exercise maniac!! Nice to see the weight falling off.
Jeffrey -- I hope you are having an ok day. Enjoy these days because you will be back to work soon.
Phoebe -- How are you, working girl??
Neil is calling me to watch something on TV and as you know, he is the boss!! Better run. Sleep well!
Gayla :yawn:0 -
Hi All,
Sorry its been a bit... Been running about here like a chicken with my dang head cut off... a lot to do when your running a construction site or sites as it may be. I have tried to read everything but I know I will forget some things because guess who doesn't have a pen in the room that now has paper!!!! I still am waiting on the hula hoop... Mail is getting delayed lately not sure what the deal is but we are now waiting more then a week and a half for packages I am sure it could just be one of those things...but I really want that hoop
The weather has been realatively nice not much rain but a lot of wind, which is playing havoc with my construction when I have to use a crane to lift the steel into place.
Jeffrey - you don't have to come and find me but Toby Keith came and found us all here in Afghanistan so we all had fun Monday night listening to him (ok I will admit I don't mind the view of his backside either)
Marie - My BF will get back from Iraq in December unless they extend him which I do hope doesn't happen at that point it will have been a year. They did tell him that he can not move to the base that is closest to me but he is still only going to be an hour and a half away depending on traffic in the tide water area. That food you sent was yummy. Let me know how all your tests come out.
BG - what a huge Elliptical and your so tiny next to it! but I love using the ones at the gym. 45 minutes in the morning and 45 minutes at night unless I work too much which has been a lot lately.
Sandy - great job on the weight loss I am a little bit (ok only .5") taller and am trying to get back down to fit in my clothes I just picked a random weight of 120 to make it something I had to work hard for...personally if I can be 800lbs and fit in my size 5 I would surprisingly be good with that.
Elli - since I am in the AF and we have to test (and this girl doesn't test well) I am only a E6 waiting on 7. How is your son doing? I will re-read everything later to make sure I haven't missed anything...
Barbie - Enjoy your trip on the road... I would just be happy to be in a vehicle that drives more then 25K (15 mph)
Gayla - I hope everything goes well with Neil's appointment. I am glad your doing so well on your eating...wish I could say the same but I am trying and I think at this point that is all that counts. I am glad I don't have a fridge hereno place to hide anything bad for me. I can however still see snow on the mountains here...sure you dont want it?
Jake - Glad you are feeling better and getting out and about.
Phoebe - hope your doing well0 -
good morning everyone - i'm up a little earlier than usual this morning so have time to check in before i go to work. It's nice here this morning - 45 degrees already and not cloudy! It's wierd to not have to go out first thing and take care of a horse.....i'll adjust tho. Still not sure what i'm going to do about weed control!:noway:
I've been trying to do good - i went over by about 150 calories yesterday - that was WITH my work out calories. I didn't work out as hard 'cause i'm not feeling that great - think i have a cold (my dil, of course, said wouldn't it be so ironic if i were the first coloradoan to get swine flu..........thanks a LOT andi!:grumble: )
Gayla - thanks for asking about the wiring - we got most of the upstairs done - i figure it will take us another 2 weekends. I'm just worrying about lots of stuff right now - mostly the inspections. We don't have a permit for the old part of the house and we're doing so much more than i had realized we'd do.......just worrisome. I can't afford to do the WHOLE house up to code! You and i are SO much alike when it comes to food. I think about it SO much and also LOVE to cook. That's the most exciting thing about my house - i'm getting a KILLER kitchen! I've always wished i could be one of those people who was indifferent about food:indifferent: my older boy is so that way and i envy him! Gee - i SO hope Neil doesn't become antibiotic resistant - personally, i think that's why we HAVE all these super bugs - we've become so dependent on antibiotics and way overuse them. Well - there's my soapbox for the day.
Marie - sure hope you're not going to need bypass surgery...........you're taking such good care of yourself!
Hey Barbie - i used to brew tea also - the Sportea is so easy and good! Hope you can find it. Check it out online if you can't find it in the store. I totally get the golf clubs under the bed in the motorhome. I have the spare tire under mine in the camper! I think you're awesome to walk the dogs even in the rain - i use the rain as an excuse to NOT walk the dogs - like THEY care:glasses:
Beth - so good to hear from you. I bet you'll be going to dinner soon! Oh Toby Keith!!!!!! NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE! That's too cool! I love it when people go "over there" and look after you guys. Is your BF AF also? Are you based in TX? Dillon was at Ft. Sam for medic training a few years back so i got to spend a little time in San Antonio. He's doing well - thanks for asking. Ready to be done with this deployment - it'll be 12 months on May 22. Hopefully you'll get your E7 SOON! That will be AWESOME!!!!!! E6 isn't too bad eiter! He's E6 promotable now - but who knows WHEN that will be. The thing i know about the Army is that i know NOTHING until it actually happens! His stuff used to take about a week to get to him but now it's taking THREE weeks. Go figure. Hope the hula hoop gets there already!!!!!! I know what you mean about fitting into your clothes - who CARES what the scale says?!?!? Unfortunately i also know i need to stay under 120 to feel comfortable in my clothes - i'm shorter than you guys i think - 5'2". Just don't get TOO skinny!!!!!!! Take care Beth - hugs and thanks to you and all your Soldiers
Wow - i'm talky early in the morning  NOW i better go to work! Have a great day everyone! :drinker: elli0 -
Where o Where is Phoebe, I missed you . Its been a long time since I have heard from you..Hope all is well with you and Jim.
Gayla,, ssems like your are getting into the swing of things. After a few weeks it will seem natually to eat smaller portions. Good luck. You are off to a good start.
elli, One busy girl. You are really going to apprecate your makeover house when you get thru.
Beth----My Texas Angel, so nice to hear from you. I did get your e-mail. glad to get that too.
Be careful over there. Take care.
BigG---Wowowow. What a knockout you are. You look so good and trim.
Barbiecat---I am also glad I did not have to give up my hummus now that I found it and the laughing cow.. Absolutely my two faverite snacks food. seems like Jake is enjoying it too.
sandy----Well you will be off again. Hope you can keep your eating under control and don't gain anyweight. them guys ought to keep you busy.
Jeffrey---Hope thing are looking up somewhat. How long were you with that company?
Everbody have a nice day.
Marie0 -
Hi guys ok so I get to post 2x in one day. also got the Hoop
put it together and well...I will be outside with this bad boy its huge!!!
Elli - I wonder what the deal is with the mail lately? could be just hard getting things out to the FOB's and COB's. My BF is actually in the Army and before you asks outranks meI was also stationed in Wichita Falls Texas for a long time so that is where the TexasAngel name came from I wouldnt mind moving back to Texas
Marie - I ma just going to include you in my family email so sometimes it might not make a lot of sense. So when will you know what the Doc's got planned or have an idea as to what is going on?
Jeffrey - I am so very sorry about your job (ok so I am seriously behind on here) I am sure that there is a master plan somewhere and your name is on it with a job made for you.
I know its only noon on the east coast but I hope y'all have a great night and day
Beth0 -
hey Beth - i'm so glad you finally got the hula hoop! it's big huh? How much weight? Is it all different colors? I know the ones at my old gym were pretty colorful. Hope you like it! I remember being sore the first few times i used it - it was a good sore tho! I really liked it!
When my son and his wife first hooked up she was an E5 and he was an E4. It was pretty funny. So when you come back to the states in.....is it Oct? Where will you be based? Hopefully you and your bf will be close to each other! My dil said we have a tentative leave iraq day now of Aug. 7. That makes us both pretty happy!
OK - well, hope you're happily hula hooping! Take care Beth and thanks for keeping in touch with us!0 -
Beth, I go in for my stress test next thurs. and then They will get me appt for Yet another test That will have to go to the hospital for. He wants to see if my heart is up to the surgery on my legs. another thing he has to considere is my kidney. If it takes the pain out of my legs and ankle idt will be worth it all. I have had this for a long time.
How's that hoola hoop doing.? I never could get aone agoing.
I know you must be missing your BF.
Marie0 -
Woke up a little under the weather. I went for dinner with a friend last night and the food didn't seem to agree with me. I think it was too rich, veal picante with some pasta and marinara, When I got home my tummy was hurting and I couldn't get comfortable.
This morning I took one of my husband's pills for his stomach and it seems to be better. I think I will try to exercise now and see how I feel after that. Tonight is my bingo night and I would really like to go.
Nice hearing from you Beth, glad you got your hoola hoop, Keep us informed on how you do and if it a good workout.
Elli, I am sure you are really going to enjoy your house when it is done. Just have patience, it will be done before you know it.
Marie, you do take such good care of yourself, that I also hope surgery won't be necessary. But if it is, they do wonders with bypass surgery this days. Whatever God's plan is for you, I am sure you can handle.
Bgamma, hope you are having a good day and whipping that elliptical.
Barb and Jake, when do you leave on your trip? Where are you going again? I know you told us but some of us do not have the best memories. :glasses:
Will check in later, I still haven't made a bed or anything and it is after noon.
Sandy0 -
Good Afternoon Everyone!
Sorry I have been away. Just busy being a house husband! LOL I have been exercising extra this week. It helps keep the emotions down.
BG- Nice picture! I love the ellitical myself. You keep going!
Marie- My thoughts are with you. You keep us posted. I had been with the firm for 6 years.
Sandy- hope you are feeling better!
Jake- How are you hitting them?
Beth- It is about time! You know a lot of people get "me" mixed up with Toby Kieth. It is just a curse that I live with! Have fun with the hoop! Anything else going on?
Elli- Is your week going better? How is the electrical coming?
Barbie- What new and exciting with you all?
Gayla- Anything new with Neil's foot? Are you seeing any signs of spring yet?
Today I cleaned house and unloaded a truck load of dirt, about 20 wheel barrows for my garden and flowers. Early this morning I did 2 hours of yoga. I have been working on my resume and looking for work. I did pick up a job laying a retaining wall here close to home. So that is good and I will get on that when the weather breaks. Nice little cash job! OH! I have gotten my wife on MFP now! Her name is Dayanne. If any of you have time send her a email. Her address is just "Dayanne" She is a Dietician. Joe the cat, is learning about mooching food. I have no idea where he has learned that! He really seems to like teryaki chicken better than anything. . Well I had better get back to being a "Trophy Husband!"
You all have a great day!
Jeffrey0 -
Hi, I just joined mfp 2 days ago and getting used to logging food and ex [walking mostly is what I do]. This looks like it might be the group for me, your SGS club. How does one join? I'm 63, have about 75 lbs to lose total, have already lost 40 and set a goal of 15 to get me going. Then I assume I can set a new goal?
I have diabetes type2 with other heart/lung/hypertensive issues which I hope will improve more with more weight loss and exercise.
I live in Canada in the West and am enjoying being able to get outside more with spring coming at last.
Look forward to connecting with you all.
EllenJ0 -
Welcome Ellen,
I think you will like our boards, most of us are senior citizens and the rest can' t wait.
Marie is also a diebetic and she will be more than happy to have someone to cabitz with.
You are already way on your way to meet your goals if you have lost 40 pounds, take one day at a time and before you know it your other 35 will be gone.
We are a friendly bunch, and we support each other 100%, even when we have slips.
Have fun keep in touch and keep coming back.
Sandy0 -
HI Ellen! And Welcome!
I think I am the YOUNGEST here!(Except for Beth, and maybe Elli) LOL I am 55 and heading towards 56 rapidly. My wife and I live here in Indiana and stay pretty active. Congratulations on your weight loss! I am certain that you are headed in the right direction!
Jeffrey0 -
Hey I lost my posst. BooHoo!!!
Jeffrey---Tobey Kieth --wow wow
This is for Dayanne---Welcome to MFP. You are very welcome to join us here. Jeffrey has not said too much about you. Just those DARN CATS! We have another husband and wife. Barbiecat and Jake. A very lovely and fun couple. Drop by and say hello. Would love to hear from you.
Ellen---You just join by posting here. And a big welcome to you. This is the best bunch on MFP.
I am a diabetic also among other things. Seems as you age you start fallen apart and so hard to lose the weight.. Wecome to our group.
Marie0 -
Hi Ellen, and Dayanne, welcome, hope you enjoy it here.
We are fine, healthy, not got the flu bug yet.. won't be surprised either way about getting it.. just the luck of the draw.
We got home this morning early, so I'm still tired.. need to get dinner going, just veggies and cornbread.
Jim was doing some fence work, and a huge section of fence fell on him.. hit him in the mouth.. I think one tooth is loose, and his lip is busted.. I think he needs a couple of stitches, but he won't hear of it.
So, he is going to really enjoy the fresh corn on the cob tonight..
Pollen is bothering me too.. ugh.. headachy..
the cats have enjoyed their day at home.. the love these warmer temps.
Jeffrey, you've heard it already, but it is tough to get sacked without any warning..hope you know you are a valuable asset to any place you go, and you will be fine. You'd make a great physical therapist! You are so upbeat, you'd be great in public relations, like at the airport, wouldn't that be a fun job? Flying perks too!!
take care all, Jim is calling..0
