Gosh, Gayla, it must be hard with Neil having seizures, do you have to do anything special when he has one? I am so glad you got some time for yourself yesterday and hope you manage to get some alone time today. :flowerforyou:
Marie, I still haven't tried hummus, I forgot when I went to the grocery store. :ohwell:
Freeway is having a bad day today, he won't eat and is anxious. We gave him more valium to quite him, and it seems it must be working since he is finally falling asleep.
I posted my calories for the whole day today since we are having bratwurst and it has so many calories. It was a gift so we have to eat it, but I prefer low calorie dinners.
I think I have 55 calories to spare for a snack tonight, maybe like 5 almonds. I suppose I could get back on the eliptical but I already did 45 minutes today and really don't feel like it. :blushing:
Hope everyone is happy and making someone else happy today.

Good Evening to All,
Jake had a miserable night. His back was so bad that he couldn’t lie down in bed so he spent the night sitting on the couch wrapped in a blanket. I stayed up til midnight with him getting him settled so I didn’t get too much sleep either. I took him to the chiropractor this morning. The good news  is that his back will get better. The bad news :sad:is that it will take a couple of weeks so no golf, no using the new yoga mat, and probably no RV trip next week.
We stuck to good eating today, I went to line dance, and I’ve walked the dogs on the hill four times and will probably walk them once more before bedtime. I can’t walk them in the back yard because we just had the yard re-seeded and nobody will be walking on it, not even the cats. I don’t event want to think about days of not letting the cats out. They let us know when they’re not happy.
:flowerforyou: Sandy, my heart is with you and Freeway—the ups and downs are so hard. It’s true that you’ll know when it’s time and it’s true that it will hurt a lot but you’ll heal in time.
:flowerforyou: B.G. Thanks for mentioning the frozen grapes in snack bags. I thought I’d have to avoid grapes this year because I don’t have any moderation when I eat them. Congrats on getting rid of those nasty holiday pounds.
:flowerforyou: Gayla---you do an amazing job of seeing the bright side even when the going gets rough-best wishes to Neil for better days.
Marie, Jake loves hummus----I bought him some with peppers today. He put it on his turkey bratwurst at lunch today instead of ketchup or salsa. That pumpkin hummus sounds good but I’ve never heard of pumpkin oil.
:flowerforyou: Jeffrey, our new yoga mats are standing in the living room. I’m planning to go to the yoga class at the Senior Center tomorrow and the yoga DVD I ordered is supposed to come tomorrow.
:flowerforyou: Elli---good luck with your fund raiser. I hope the weather cooperates.
I’m doing something nice for me right now
reading all your messages and writing back to you. Earlier today I met a friend for tea and conversation.
Big hugs to all of you,

Thought you just might enjoy this as much as I did.
IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck
(written after she found out she was dying from cancer).
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.
I would have talked less and listened more.
I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.
I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.
I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.
I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would have sat on the lawn with my grass stains.
I would have cried and laughed less while watching television and more while watching life.
I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.
When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, 'Later. Now go get washed up for dinner.' There would have been more 'I love you's' More 'I'm sorry's.'
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute.look at it and really see it . . live it and never give it back. STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF!!!
Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what
Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who do love us.0 -
Good Morning!
Gayla- Well placed message for me right now. Thanks! I hope you and your son are doing well.
Barbie- Tell Jake to take it easy. Sorry about his back. I have had that before and it is not fun. Enjoy your exercise!
Sandy- I hope Freeway feels better. I know how you feel.
Everyone else, I will catch up with you later today! Have a great morning!
Jeffrey0 -
Good morning all,
Gayla---. a really nice thought for today.Worded beautufully. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Barbiecat---- I never heard of pumpkin oil either. I found it at a small herb shoppe close to us. It was rather expensive. 14.95 a bottle. So now I got to find out how to used it other than the pumpkin Hummis. I think the peppers is my faverite of the store bought hummis. Gomma have to learned how to make it.
Jake. Gosh what rotten luck you have been having. Good to know Barbie is taking good care of you.
Sandy, My heart goes out to you at this sad time of your life. Be brave.
Elli---I chat with another Denver girl and she says it is beginning to look like springtime, I guess these snow storms are a sign of spring.
Jeffrey---You are such a nice guy. What do your girls think of thier new Daddy? I bet they are proud of you
Big G----Sunny California, Enjoy the nice weather.
Beth---Good night to you. Sleep tight.
Phoebe---- You ought to be back in Ga. by now. Hope you didn't get into bad weather,.take care.

Marie,
My girls have commented on the new Dad many times. They like to tease me a lot, but mostly they have had fun in taking me shopping. Funny though, they seem to leave with things and I don't! LOL I am driving to Indianapolis Saturday to have lunch with Samantha. Dayanne, my wife, has to work this weekend. I see the same thing happening again! They tell me that I workout too much but I counter with "when you are my age you will have to do this too, to stay where you are now". But they are very supportive as has been my wife. I won't say never, but I hope that I do not have to go down this journey again. I don''t know that I would have the energy for it. I have a "look" or physique, that I have been trying to achieve. I sometimes think that I may just be too old to accomplish it, but I keep trying. A lot of the effort has been for the 3 ladies in my life. I want to be here as long as I can to make sure that they are safe and provided for as long as humanly possible. I think they all know that, but the rest is for me. It has been a challenge and I like that kind of thing.
I am so very proud of everyone on our link. In life, it is very hard to keep doing the right things. Our friends here do, both physically and in living. We are all fighting the good fight! It really gives one hope to know that there are others that are going through the same challenges in all aspects of their daily existance, and that they too, share your struggles.
Again, I get too verbose! LOL My wife tells me that a lot! Everyone have a great day! I think of you all a lot!
Your Friend,
Jeffrey0 -
It is with a broken heart that I am informing you that Freeway is no longer with us. We took him this morning to end his suffering and to allow him to be at peace. He gave us ten wonderful years and we are so grateful he was in our lives. He will be waiting for us at Rainbow Bridge, where he is now playing with all the other pups and he is whole again with four paws and no pain.
http://rainbowbridge.com/Poem.htm0 -
Sandy,
I sent you an email.
Jeffrey0 -
Sandy, thanks for sharing your grieft with us. . Freeway will always have a place in my heart. He was such a lovable looking pooch. Love Marie0
-
Sandy I am so sorry for your loss
...I know you have a :brokenheart: . I am very glad that you know that he is waiting on the other side of the "Rainbow Bridge" Not everyone knows about that....

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Sandy, We're so sorry for your loss. Freeway had a wonderful life with you and you with him.
Our Shilo has gone to the Rainbow Bridge, too, so we know how you feel.
Big hugs,
Barbie and Jake0 -
Sandy, You are in my thoughts tonight. I know you will miss your wonderful Freeway very much. Know, too, that you did the very best you could for him.
Take care, gayla :flowerforyou:0 -
Good Morning Everyone!
TGIF! Whoo Hoooo!
We went to a ball game last night and had a good time. Ft. Wayne has a minor league team and they had thier first game in thier new stadium. Great facility. We ate supper there and I had a chicken burrito and I have paid for it ever since! I am still not feeling right this morning. I won't do that again!
Having lunch with Sam tomorrow. I am supposed to get my new elliptical machine tomorrow too. I am going to try to get some additional yard work done and Day and I need to make a Sam's Club run. Going to be a busy weekend but it beats working!
I will check in with you all later! Have a great Friday!
Jeffrey0 -
Thank you all for your kind words, I feel like you are all personal friends.
You will all think we are probably crazy, but we will have a little "funeral" today, one last look at our Freeway and then we will put his favorite ball and some toys in the casket with him. Then we drive over to his burial site and put him with the other four dogs we have buried in the pet cemetery. I know it sounds strange but it helps my husband who goes into terrible depression when losing an animal. I really appreciate you letting me talk about this. I do feel better that Freeway is out of pain and in a better place, so thank you again for all the kindness and understanding. :flowerforyou:
Yeah Jeff, like you need more exercise with a new eliptical machine. All kidding aside though you will love it, I feel like I get a really good workout with mine.
I didn't workout yesterday and don't know if I will today but I did lose a pound or so. I imagine that is stress but I have been watching what I eat. This is another competition weekend and a long one at that. It starts tonight and end late Sunday night. This time we are at Pheasant Run in St. Charles.
Bryanna does her solo tonight for the first time, so I am excited for her.
I will check in one more time today, but hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I couldn't have picked better friends, thank you. :bigsmile:0 -
Sandy- Tell Brianna good luck! She will do great! The new elliptical is needed. We finally wore the other one out. This one is a pretty good upgrade. It is a Sole, so it should last for years. Take care and have a good weekend!0
-
Sandy,
Your funeral sounds lovely. We had Shilo cremated and bought two wooden boxes for her ashes so half the ashes are on the mantle in the house and the other half are with us in the motorhome because Shilo loved to travel. We believe that our pets are as much a part of our family as the human members and frequently ask less and give more. They should have equal ceremony and memory with their passing.
Hugs to you,
Barbie and Jake0 -
Hi everyone - sorry i've been out of touch for a day or two.
Sandy - i'm sending you love and hugs - also sent u a message. I hope Bryanna does GREAT! I'm also glad you have the competition this weekend to keep you busy.
Jeffrey - you are such a nice person - i love the sentiments you shared about your wife and daughters. They are lucky! Hope you're enjoying that new elliptical and especially lunch with Sam tomorrow!!!! I'm glad they're so proud of you! My boys are like that too - doesn't it feel great?
Barbie - how is Jake doing? Did you say you're not going on your trip now? I hope he's healing!!!!!!
Darn - now i forgot about what everyone else said - i'll have to go back and post again later on.
It's been raining here since last night - we're supposedly in another winter storm warning - 'till tomorrow afternoon. We have the fundraiser tomorrow morning - hope we dont have to cancel AGAIN! I don't think we will tho - i think it's just going to rain and be muddy and gross!:grumble:
Well - i'm done working now - i'm going to put the pick up in 4 wheel drive and try to make it off the dirt road! I missed the gym yesterday and ate very badly. I feel FAT:sick: If i make it to the gym i plan on staying for about 2 hours!!!!!!
I'll be back later. Happy Friday evernone! Those of you who are having it enjoy the spring!
OH - Marie - yes, these spring storms are characteristic of "springtime in the rockies" It DOES mean Spring is coming - it just seems to be taking longer this year. Probably because we had such a warm winter!!!!!!!!elli

Hi its me again.
Good to hear from you elli, We had a nice shower this morning. surpose to be more later on. Went to the store this mornin to get my faverite yogurt and pick me up a nice potted plant for my kitchen table. Just for me. They are white daisy. Will get Jerry to plant outside when they start to droop. I also found some mini pite bread. They are so cute about the size of a medium cookie. I get 2 for 50 calories, Nice for my hummus. They are called Toufayan mini pitettes. I got them at TomThumb. We go there every Friday morning to pick up a few things that Walmart does not carry.

Jake---up and at them today. I hope.
Marie0 -
Good evening to you all. Glorious sunshine today. We had some snow flurries yesterday but nothing that stuck around thankfully. I was at the dentist yesterday for a cleaning, in two weeks I am back to get a crown and a night guard so I won't break anymore teeth. Stress and grinding go together I guess!! I am not a good dental patient, bad memories surface from my childhood dental work. So glad it is different now, I just need to remember to breathe. It is odd how you can know that it won't hurt but you still go into high alert mode.
Neil went to the nursing home to have a bath today, nice deep whirlpool tub that they can get him into with a lift. He smells good and I think must feel better about the world. He got his bike out today and took a ride down to the BAR to have a soft drink. Hope the happy lasts.
Time to get some dinner on the table. Have a great evening. Gayla0 -
Gayla, womderful news . Neil getting out on his own. That must have really made you happy too. I',m glad Niel is in a Happy mood. What kind of bike doe he have? Still having snow flurries. We had a nice rain this morning Which we badly needed. May even have some more later tonight.
Tomorrow is my WI. Keep your fingers cross.
Marie0 -
hi all - hope you're having a good evening! We still have rain and now our winter storm warning has been lifted so i think it's just going to be sloppy gloppy mud! So tomorrow we should be able to do our humane society fundraiser! yay!!!!!!!!!!
Gayla - I'm the same as you with the dentist. I got 1 permanent crown on on THursday - then Tuesday i have to go back for the next crown. Ugh:sick: I'm a TERRIBLE dental patient - same thing, brings up awful childhood memories! yes yes - must remember to BREATHE and relax! Oh that's awesome that Neil got in a bike ride AND a bath!
Marie - those mini pitas sound awesome! I'm going to look for those! Sounds great with the hummus!
Hey Beth - how's everything ver there? When is your deployment over? You already have enough years in to retire don't you? Will you be getting out?????
Well i made it to the gym today - but still ate too much:grumble: Just having a tough time right now! Well, tomorrow's a new day! I'll be so glad when the sun comes out!
Have a great weekend friends! elli0 -
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Hello to all my wonderful friends.:flowerforyou:  I don't want to ever wish that I'd spent more time telling people how much they mean to me.
Gayla, those wise words from Erma Bombeck sure made me think. Thanks for sharing it.
I thought I was the only one who had trouble breathing at the dentist. I have to do some sort of prayer and meditation to keep me focused and breathing. How great that Neil could get out on his own. You both must be happy about that.
Marie, you seem to find something new and exciting every time you go shopping With Passover over, I went to the store and bought several interesting crackers for hummus. We're going to an event tomorrow where lunch will be served with a dessert potluck. We're going to bring our own lunch---hummus, crackers, hard boiled egg, tomato, and apple.
Jeffrey---only you could wear out an exercise machine   I'll bet your new one will be so much better.
Sandy, good luck to Bryanna. You'll probably bring her good vibrations. Be gentle to yourself. Grief takes awhile before it passes and doesn't hurt so much.
Elli--I keep fooling myself into thinking it's spring. I have to remember that we had snow here on April 24 last year but i keep going out in light weight clothes and freezing. I did go to the dog park today without my wool scarf and hat in the drizzly rain. All those people from the south get our hopes up for spring.
Jake is doing better. He's been to the chiropractor three times this week. He can get in bed to sleep and can walk around ,do a few things, and drive, but his back muscles have spasms that hurt a lot. We canceled the trip for next weekend but plan to be on the road on May 4 headed for Northern California.
We watched some of the yoga video tonight. I tried more of the poses than Jake (he could do the mountain and volcano but not much more) a lot of it was familiar from the class I went to on Thursday. Jake is already saying we should buy more yoga videos but I think one will be enough for awhile thank you Jeffrey, Sandy, and Elli for recommending yoga to me.
today at line dance some people asked me what I was doing to lose weight. One woman called me at home later to ask me where she could buy the "Sweatin' to the Oldies". she said I made it sound like so much fun that she wanted to try it.
We're watching the Mariners baseball game and right now the Mariners are winning. I think I'll get on the exercise bike to watch the rest of the game.
Big hugs to all of you
Barbie0 -
yep, I'm up too late, and I'm pooped, and I'm crying, now that I've read about Freeway.. it is such a tough thing to go through. Sandy, thank you for being such a good 'Mom'. You know, we all count ourselves lucky to have had our pets for as long as we can, but it is equally important to note that these pets of ours are some of the luckiest animals in the world. It honors them when we continue to do what we can for homeless pets.
I'm home, yep, we have the weekend here. It is Jim's annual drag race event, he is packed and will leave in a few hours. I've stayed busy today, starting some sewing projects that are overdue.. recovering cushions, pillows etc. I've been ordering the fabric, most of it is here, so I had better get to it.
Gayla, great that Neil feels like getting out and about.. I hope the surgeries are not spaced too close together! I used to have terrible headaches that were caused by my teeth grinding, it took a long time to find out the cause. After I had some bridgework done, it somehow changed my bite pattern just a little, and no more headaches!! My teeth were hitting in just the right spot to cause a whale of a lot of pain.
I'm missing most of you, I know, but I am tired and up too late.. I have to rise pretty early myself, returns to make at Ikea, then off to visit my MIL. I want to get back home before dark, so I can let the cats out for a while.. they love this warm weather.. we are covered in pollen dust... yellow everywhere.. when the cats roll on the patio, they get up yellow!!
Marie, I'm sorry I was gone for so long, hope you are well.. still on 100 calories per hour?
take care
>^..^<0 -
Hi all,
Sorry its been a while before writing back... and man it takes a bit to keep up with you...sure I am the younger?
Things here in sunny FINALLY Afghanistan are not to bad, I have been MIA due to a lot of personnel problems with people this past week... all crazy weird off the wall kind of things. I am however happy to tell you one of our guys managed to watch his wife in the labor and delivery room (he tells me minus the porn view) of his first son this morning about 1 am so needless to say I didn't get any sleep either as I was the one waiting for my troop to come home to make sure everything was OK with momma and the baby and we didn't need to send him home on the fist fast track out of here.
The heater has been fixed...my lovely little hut is now equipped with a heater AND Internet...so I am a happy camper.
Gayla; Great news about Neil...nothing like a bit of independence and feeling a wee bit better to lift someone's spirits. Your a great mom even though you seem to think that means you are super human to me it just means your good at loving and caring for him and that is Super.
Marie; The guys want to fight for my package the little weasels...I told them IF I didn't like something they could have it... they have already been at me to see what I like and don't...they are also starting in on the short jokes again... they asked if I wanted anything made for my room...I told them a stool and I got a set of steps...jokes on them its perfect height and now I don't have ot stand on a chair to get into bed.
Elli; Good luck on your fund raiser, I am sure y'all will do great. My deployment is supposed to end the beginning of Oct I think it may go till Nov mostly due to troop movements in and out. Army has priority which is as it should be... they are here for 12-18 months and they need to be allowed to go home first we are only here for 6-7. I could retire when I get home as I will have 20 in on the 1st of August but since my daughter is an extreme asthmatic I want to wait till she is closer to graduation.
Sandy; I am so very sorry to hear about Freeway... its always so hard to loose someone you love so much.
Jeffery; The dang hula hoop had to be reordered....they sent it to my house...AKA the billing address. My dad sent it back (so we don't have to pay for postage) and they are sending me one here. I just want the dang thing... not much to do here after duty except go to the gym and sometimes I don't feel like walking the mile there and back
Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend. I also may have a name for you this week...one of our guys took a really bad hazing to the point the others almost broke him...so I have been spending time trying to bring him back on track and boost his confindence and let him know that people care.0 -
It was so nice to get up and read all the posting that you guys posted after I went to bed last night.
ONE LB LOST THIS MORNING====11 LBS LOST Slow bud steady. As Beth said I am a" Happy trooper"
this morningPhoebe, Glad you are in town. Good luck to Jim on his drag racing event. So you are going to be doing some sewing this week end. I have all these machine sitting around here and don't used them, But I used to all day long . Making things to go in my craft booth at the craft mall. All the craft malls around here are all gone. I missed them sdbut it got where there was no handcrafted things. Just things people bought and put in there booths.
Beth, Nice hearing from you this morning.g lad you got the pkg. Ok. That was a fast delivery They are a healthy meal for sure. but 2 serving per can I always ate the whole thing. getting your little hut all fix up. That nice. Thats a shame about your hoop going to your dad place, now have to wait all over again. Enjoy it when you get it.
Barbiecat. You will forever remain young at heart. But you are still a young trooper. Keep at them and you wont end up like me. My pumpkin hummus get better as it aged. Will be making more of it again.
Glad Jake is on the mend This eating 100 calories 13 times a day is working for me.Sandy Have a happy weekend with you family. and good luck to your Granddaughter
Jeffrey Hope you enjoy your lunch with Sam. Don't eat to much for you just got a lb to reach that 70 lb. lost.
Gayla-- Neil is a luckey guy to have you and Dave as his parents. It is nice he can get out on his own and enjoy a break from his very day life. Does he still like to pick out his clothes to wear after a nice bath.
Big G--Thanks for sending this rain to us from sunny California. We needed it.
Elli I don't think my little round pita will last me a week. Will buy 2 pkg next time and freeze one..I think I will make me a couple of mini hambugers for tonight out of them.
Enjoy life this week end. Do something nice just for you. I bought me a nice potted plant yesterday beautiful daisy. White ones just for me.

Good morning everyone! People all around us have SO much snow - over 3 feet in some places. Lucky us - we just go RAIN!!!!!!!! Yippeeeeee. So me and my girls are off for our humane society fund raiser.
Thank you Beth - i'm sure it will go well. Sorry about the hula hoop! DARN!!!!! I know when i send my son stuff from here it takes about a week to Iraq. This deployment has been 15 months for him - it's a long one and i'll be so glad when it's DONE! (Aug). You're such a great Mom - staying in 'till your girl graduates! Glad your little hut is getting in good shape! OHHHHHH - the Solder getting to see his wife give birth - AWESOME! I'm a labor doula and i volunteer for OSD (Operation Special Delivery) and on 1 birth the Dad (Marine in Iraq) was on the phone with Mom as she pushed baby out and got to hear his son's first cry. SUCH an emotional event!!!!! Kudos to you for being there for him. I have the feeling your Soldiers are very lucky to have you.
Barbie - glad to hear Jake is on the mend. I'm so glad you think you're going to like the yoga! My Mom always advised me to do yoga - i know she felt like it helped her so much as she aged (she lived a great life 'till 85 yrs young). Well - i heard on the news we're supposed to be close to 80 degrees next week. We're hopping from winter into summer which is pretty characteristic!
Marie - that 100 cal diet IS working for you! Congratulations on your weight loss!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME!
I'm going to look for the mini pitas!
Hi Sandy, Phoebe, Gayla, Jeffrey and anyone else i may have left out:frown: I better get the pick up started and get ready to go into town! I'm dropping little Hercky off at my friend's in town so he doesn't have to hang out by himself for too long......Sandy - hope you and your husband are doing all right.
elli0 -
I goof I have a 12 lb lost. that even better.Marie0
-
Good morning.........Send the rain back.....we need it so much.......did you see the big water march they had here in California...trying to get the government to turn the pumps back on.......It is awful on the west side of our valley....farmers are plowing their fields under because of lack of water.....so many farmer workers out of work....It is really sad to see our valley drying up....
Good job on the weight loss Marie....You have worked so hard....
It is going to be very warm here today...in the 80's.....and maybe in the 90's tomorrow.....I sure hope they are wrong...because hot weather and me do not get along.....
Please know that all of our troops are in my prayers......They are the true heros.....May God Bless them all and bring them home safe......
Have a super Saturday....:flowerforyou:0 -
Hi Friends
Bryanna's jazz solo was great yesterday, she got a platinum score which is the highest but did not place.
It was the first time she did it so she was a little nervous, but still looked great. :flowerforyou:
I love you all and appreciate all your support, just wanted to thank you.
I have to keep this short today because it is a long day of competition which means I have to get ready to go. There are over 900 numbers total for the weekend so it is a big competition.
I haven't exercised but I have been watching my calories and I am doing well. There is a lot of walking at this place so I feel I am getting some exercise.
Have a good day and I will check in tomorrow.
Sandy0
