    Hello everybody,

today has been a great day---breakfast, line dance, lunch, dog park:bigsmile:

 Jake is feeling better----he slept a lot today and drank lots of liquids. About 4:00 he felt well enough to take a shower, put on clean clothes and pull all the sheets and blankets off the hide-a-bed and wash them. We watched "The Untouchables" on DVD and now we're watching a TV show that we recorded on the DVR.

My friend's husband had a second surgery this morning and seems to be doing better. He is over 80 years old and in good shape (he plays tennis and hikes) and had the idea that he'd have surgery on Thursday and be home by Saturday. I'll talk to her later tonight.

I called the woman who teaches yoga at the senior center to find out about her classes. She told me a lot about her classes but unfortunately I'm not available to go either day that she teaches next week and soon we'll be starting our spring and summer motorhome trips.. I dug out a book on yoga that Jake bought a few years ago and ordered a yoga DVD. It occurred to me that yoga is a fitness activity perfectly suited to doing in a motorhome.

Jeffrey, I agree with you about remembering to count our blessings. During a dark time in my life a few years ago a friend suggested that I write a short gratitude list every day. I've done that nearly every day since then. I write down five things I'm grateful for and try to put something different each day. it keeps me focused on what's right in my life. Is tomorrow the big day for Joe's arrival?

Sandy, I'm sad to hear about freeway. Our pets never stay with us long enough. You mentioned not wanting to sit on the floor too long with your 4 year old. the senior center yoga teacher said that they do some of their warm ups seated in chairs because the seniors in the class can't sit cross-legged on the floor.

Marie, I put hummus on my shopping list. I'll take a look at it and see if it's something we might want. Since during Passover we're not eating any crackers, I'll wait awhile to try it. If we can find some with garlic we'll probably love it.

speaking of garlic, that's one of the best parts of lamb----all the garlic I put on it when I cook it. We have two more little lamb chops for tomorrow. I know that a lot of people don't like lamb but it's one of the things my mother fixed a lot and I grew up with it. Of course, she also cooked liver all the time and I never liked it.

Gayla, Elli, Beth----you three work so hard, I hope this holiday weekend allows you a much needed rest. you deserve to relax and be pampered.

Happy Easter. Passover, weekend, spring, etc. to all

Good morning fabulous seniors! Happy Easter weekend (and Passover!) Well, i keep weighing (even though know i'm not supposed to) and i keep wavering between 120 and 121 now. I think it may take awhile to get below 120 - but i'll just keep on plugging along! Not sure what's going to happen food wise today - i have that wiring class and then not sure what after that. I think my friend (the one who's helping me the MOST) wants to bring her Dad over to see what we've done on the house so far.

Yay Sandy!!!!!!!! I'm proud of you you tried the yoga and you're going to try and incorporate it into your workout! I'm like Jeffrey - i just LOVE it and sweat like CRAZY! I try and do it at least twice a week right now. I'd like to get back to 3 times. This week i did well - i worked out every day starting Sunday. Don't know if i'll make it today. It's really smart to update your wills - hope you get around to it. Mine is so simple really, it's just me and my 2 boys - everything i have gets split up between the 2 of them.
Glad the gd gave u a break from polly pockets! Hope you like the hummu!

Marie - anytime i've made hummus i just throw the cooked garbanzos in the blender with some olive oil and garlic, a little tahini (i'm pretty sure i've bought tahini right at the king soopers. The whole food type stores carry it for sure). I thought i bought plain but actually it is artichoke and garlic. REALLY good! I had it on pita chips last night for supper.

Gayla - i haven't been working hard enough i don't think! Not this past week anyway - all i did was some clean up. I need to get back to stripping the wood upstairs. I had to go pick the appliances - i THINK i've finally made a decision on that. So sorry Neil had a seizure.........i think everyone's right you ARE a saint and Neil is so lucky that you're his Mom..........That's good that his toe seems to be healing.

Well - i better get ready for the wiring class - see how confused i can get TODAY! Have a great weekend everybody! elli

We are back from the vet and the news was as we expected. Freeway's last days are coming and we should be prepared. :brokenheart: As of now he is not in pain although he has a tumor that is growing, so once he has trouble breathing and/or shows other signs we will have to do what is right. Sorry to be so gloomy on such a sunny day, but as I told my husband and friends, he has had the best ten years with us (today is his birthday) and I want everyone to be happy around him so he stays happy to the end.

Elli and Jeff, maybe I didn't do the yoga right if I wasn't sweating. :noway: I will still stay with it and hope it works along with the other stuff.

Marie, congratulations on the pound loss, doesn't it feel good when that happens? :drinker:

Barb, so glad Jake is feeling better and what a guy doing his own linen laundry. I love lamb chops, haven't had them in a very long time, but I really do enjoy them when I do. I love your gratitude list, it really does focus on what we have and not material things.

Have a great Easter, Passover or just plain Sunday, I just can't wait to taste whipped cream tomorrow after not eating sweets for six weeks.

    Good Morning,
This is just a quick note.

When all four pets were in bed with me this morning, I changed their name to "Sweeties".  When they started to pester me to go out and chase each other around, I went back to calling them "Naughties"

We spent 40 minutes at the dog park followed by a stop at the grocery store where I had a choice of three brands and about six different flavors of hummus----I found hummus in the part of the store that had all the fancy, cheeses, dips, sushi, etc. Jake asked for garlic hummus to put on the lamb and fresh asparagus for lunch   Marie and Elli---Jake said to thank you for suggesting hummus to me

More later--I need a shower and clean clothes.

Sandy--I'm so sorry about Freeway  , we've experienced that with many cats and dogs and it doesn't get any easier

oh Sandy - i'm sorry about little Freeway - but you're so right - you want his last days to be happy......you've been so good to him. I agree with Barbie - it never gets any easier - i've held horses heads in my lap and laid down on the the floor with big dogs...........:brokenheart: you and yours are in my thoughts. Don't worry about not sweating doing yoga - i sweat because the room is between 105 and 110 degrees and 40% humidity! We're all sweating before we even START!

Barbie and Jake - i hope you guys like the hummus - it really is good stuff! I think you're right Barb - yoga will be a good thing to do in the motor home! I guess you won't be doing too much sweating to the oldies in there!:noway:

Marie - you are doing so great with your weight loss! 40 pounds will be HUGE!!!!!!!! I know you can do it!

Well - i'm off to the gym - my 7th day in a row! woo hoooooooo!!!!!!! Tomorrow in laws from CA will be here. My dil from Colo Spgs will be coming up and my son and his gf will be here too - we'll all go out to eat, plus there will be no workout tomorrow. I'm a little worried about the monday morning weigh in..........i'd sure like to make my 3 pounds April goal.......guess we'll see! Happy Day all!:flowerforyou:

Thank you for all your kind words about Freeway. He is a special dog, who has given us ten wonderful years. We had a little celebration for his birthday and he was happy.

I went to the store today and forgot to look for hummus, will try to remember the next time I go.

Marie, you continue to amaze me with all that you do, and your commitiment to losing weight.

Hi all. Thanks all of you for the kind words.

I posted some pictures on my profile of Kathy's puppies and her ducks , but she still had them in a box in the garage with a light for them. and a picture of Jerry down at the stock tank fishing. He caught some small ones and threw them all back in. . Jerry took pictures of the house and family members but he had the camera on Movies and I couldn't get them. they were cute tho.

Barbiecat---- I stay clean on my eating. No cake, no potatoe salad, no dips that look so yummy.no cole slaw. filled up on a big salad with plenty of raw veggies. , small piece of ham,and some strawberries Big glass of water.

Sandy so sorry about Freeway. enjoy him while you can. We lost our precious Angel last year. She was my walking dog. Her and caliecat slept with us every night. We never did let Sammy sleep with us except when a big storm comes up at night. And that meant that calliecat could no longer get on the bed.

Jeffrey---Did you having a nice week end?

Lafla---I went to zarr's and I just cannot navigate on it. Are you still posting recipes on it? I can't see how to go to a recipes.

Phoebe---Be careful out on the roads lots of storms out there

Elli.I am making a trip to the store to get stuff for hummus tomoprrow.

Beth----What you guys doing for Easter?

Jake hope you are filling better by now.

Big G. Ready for Easter dinner?

It is rather late so off to beddy bye for me.

Hi everyone! We just got home from our son and dil's new home. The move has been done, now the fun (ugh) of unpacking. We went in for a chili dinner. I made a ceaser salad and coleslaw as my contribution. Her parents and sister were there to help with the move as well as my other son and a friend so it was a big table. It was a relaxing and fun evening.

I need to straighten something out. I think I have really misrepresented myself. I don't want you to think that I am a saint or an exceptional parent!! I do try but most of the time I expect I miss the mark. There have been several times over the past 2 months that I have said to Dave "I don't think I would have won the mother of the year award today!" and for sure I would not have. I like to think that I am patient but my patience has been severly tried and I have often failed. I believe that each one of you would (and have) handled whatever has come your way with patience and humanity. That is all we can ask of ourselves. I can tell that you are all caring and wonderful people and I do appreciate your kind remarks to me. I just couldn't accept without setting the record straight, just a regular gal who makes mistakes but most days do the best I can.
While I am on this little rant I also need to confess that I am as lazy as a girl can be, a great planner but not so good at following through!! I am computer addicted, love to read and watch tv. Hmm, I also am a terrible night owl and love to sleep in in the morning. I haven't even touched on bad eating and little exercise!!!
On the good side, I am a glass half full kind of person. I like to see the best in people. I love the children I work with and admire their parents enormously. They inspire me continuously. I am tremendously devoted to family and friends.
It looks like most of all I really like to talk about myself so I will end this now!

Marie -- I will have to go check out your pictures. Good job on the eating, I did not fair so well. Every time you mention the coconut cake I have a craving for it. Dave has an aversion to coconut so I never make coconut anything but I do love it. I still go to Zaar and my posting name there is GaylaV. I think it just takes time to figure out how to get around. There are lots of recipes for many kinds of diets and once you get the system they are not too hard to find. If you are looking for something specific just put in the name of it and usually several options open up. Anything you want me to look for?

    Take care everyone. Gayla

I decided to change my ticker to include the 4 pounds I lost between January 14 when I said “That’s enough!” and February 7 when I found MFP. Someone asked me how much weight I’d lost and I had to do mental arithmetic to figure it out because it wasn’t the number on my ticker.

Happy Easter to all---it rained here last night but the rest of the day looks promising.

We're having matzo ball soup for lunch----it's a little higher calorie than usual but we'll practice portion control   we have to because I made the soup a few weeks ago and froze it in measured portions and I'll make a modest amount of matzo balls instead of the usual double or triple recipe   for the two of us, and I've weighed the chicken. Then if I do a whole CD of "Sweatin' to the Oldies", go to the dog park and get on the exercise bike, my calories will match up.

Elli---I found out yesterday that Jake's daughter in California is staring hot yoga. She's32 years old and had her first baby in October and is still struggling to lose the baby weight

Marie---congrats on staying with your clean eating----I'll bet you feel much better today because you did that.

Gayla :flowerforyou: I love your honesty---we all have feet of clay and do our best walking through whatever field of quicksand that's in our path----keep up the good work and take it one day at a time.

Next step for me: breakfast, then dog park.

Just a quick hello and Happy Easter/Sunday from me!

Marie - you did SO GREAT resisting all that yummy food! Im SO proud of you. Oh - and thank you for posting those pictures. The ducks are so cute and oh those PUPPIES!!!!!!!! SO adorable! It would be so hard to give them away! Also, just from the backgrounds Kathy's place looks beautiful! And I had to laugh - what you referred to as a "stock tank" we would call a "sump pond"!

Hi Barbie - i'm glad you added those other 4 pounds! Look how GREAT you're doing!!!!!!!!! And you do some kind of exercise EVERY Day. So impressive. I'm going to try and walk the dogs today because i know i won't make it to the gym, but i need to get a shower by 11 'cause family will be showing up arond noon - then we still have to figure out what exactly we're doing! OH - i'm excited to hear what Jake's daughter thinks of hot yoga!!!!! If she can do it at least 3 times a week it that baby weight should just start melting off!

Happy Easter Big G! Hope you have a wonderful, peaceful day!

Gayla - as much as you can tell we're all pretty good folks, i can tell the same about you - your humility makes you even more so! I also have the feeling as much as you are inspired by the families you work with - they are with you! I hope you have a terrific day and that Neil has a fun easter and is feeling good!

Well - i'll be checking in tomorrow - i have the feeling today i'll go over, but so be it.............i will survive and enjoy my "people"! elli

    Howdy all,
good to see you up and about Jake. That flu is something else. Jerry and I have been real lucky so far this year..Barbiecat took great care of you. I have never eaten Lamb before. I am just not a big meat eater. I do like a big jucy hamburger ever once in a while.

Lafla, We have a cloudy day here. going try Zarr again today. Maybe I will have better luck, I used to get on it all the time. So I don;t know what iI am doing wrong. Did you have anice visit with your friend. It is always nice to get toether again width old friends..

Phoebe---Hope all is well and that the trip was fine.

Elli---There is a recipe in Eating Clean cookbook for Pumpkin Hummus and I thing I will try that first as soon as i finish what I have. I wonder if I can freeze it. For this will make more than I can eat in s short time?

Jeffrey---I got my Richard Simmons tapes out The one i have out now is Latin Blast Off I play it out and will try it out this afternoon. I like what he said ' shake off the fat'

Sandy, How are you doing on all your exercise? you are really getting with it. keep it up.

Big M----How is Sunny California. We are having a cloudy day here in Texas and a little chill in the air. Had a very nice rain during the night. we needed that. For they have been having quite a few fires around.

    Happy Easter/ Passover/Sunday!!

If I updated my ticker today it probably would say I gained five pounds from all the food I ate at brunch. It was worth it though to just eat what I wanted for one day, I have worked hard on losing weight and will get back on track tomorrow. I know I am already over by 200 calories today but still under 1500 so it is not horrible is it? I could go downstairs and exercise but in all honesty I just don't feel like it today.

Marie, I am so proud of you for keeping true to your weight loss. My will power is not as strong as yours.

Phoebe, have fun with those pets of yours, we have them for such a short time. :brokenheart:

Barb and Jake, you are are honored couple, you seem so happy. Glad you are feeling better Jake but not a good way to lose weight. :noway:

Bgamma, I agree with you, I know I over ate and should have known better but it was just so good. :drinker:

Jeffrey, hope your day is filled with happiness and love today.

Lafla, I agree with Elli, even though you may lose patience as we all do, I firmly believe God only gives special parents special kids. He knows who can handle them and who can't. You, your husband and your kids are just want Neil needs.

Beth, hope your Easter was wonderful and they gave you something good to eat.

MFPals.......you are like family, hope your day was special.

    Happy Monday Everyone!

I over ate! BADLY! Back on the wagon today! We had a good Easter, although it was rough without the girls. We talked to them several times but it was not the same. But today is a new day with new opportunities!

We got Joe home on Saturday. Yesterday he was in complete control of the house! No fights, some hissing, and a lot of staring. He has now turned into a "full of it" 10 month old kitten. He has adapted very well to the do's and don'ts of the house. He also has developed quite a taste for ham! LOL I have never seen a cat that wants to play as much as this one. He is very lively. It was funny when we picked him up, as we were leaving the assistant at the shelter had us a wait a minute and then came back with a large Easter basket full of cat toys and food! It was too funny, I mean there must have been 15 toys and 10# of food in this basket.

I am glad to hear from everyone on the post. Jak glad your feeling better. Nothing else much to report here for now. I will check in later on.

Marie! Whoo Hoo double Digit loss!

I ate, I gained, I will start again!!!! I am glad to hear my hero Jeff over ate yesterday as I did.
We are all tough though and will get right back on track today. I doubt any of us could have gained more than a pound or two and most of that is probably just a lot of salt that we normally don't eat. :ohwell: That's my story and I am sticking to it. :drinker:

Jeff, enjoy that little guy Joe, he sounds like a wonderful addition to your family. Sorry you couldn't be with your girls yesterday, I know the feeling since two of my children and their children live out of state.

Marie, be careful with that tape, we wouldn't want you hurt, your are our leader. Freeway had a good day and night yesterday, so for now he is doing okay. Are you saying your cat doesn't use a cat box and does her business outside? How did you every train her for that?

Barb, you are probably at the dog park and then "sweating to the oldies" and then riding the bike, gosh I am tired just from writing about your routine. Hope you and Jake had a wonderful Passover.

Bgamma, I'm with you, I ate because it was so good..................................:blushing:

Elli, you are another one who exhausts me just from reading. You are such a postitive person, it is great getting to know you. :flowerforyou:

Gayla, so happy you had a good Easter and that Neil is on the mend from his cold.

Phoebe, your cats sound like they are a riot. Have a safe trip and keep in touch.

Beth, you deserved more than ice cream and chocolate but you get all of our hearts.

Think I will TRY 45 minutes of eliptical today, 30 minutes or arobics and 30 minutes of yoga. Remember I said try so don't hold me to it. It is a gloomy rainy day here so I need to do something to keep me going.

    Happy Monday!!!

Sandy! YUP! I over ate! LOL I will be paying the price for a few days. You know the funny thing is that I really don't feel too great. My systems has adapted to my diet and I have thrown it out of sync. I have an hour and a half of yoga tonight. That will get it started in the right direction. I am also going to do an hour on the eliptical.

Just got done talking with the vet on getting Joe all "tuned up". $480 Ouch! Ya gotta love those free pets! LOL Oh well, one of God's creatures got a break. Joe is now an offical winner of the Jeffrey Lotto for Kitties! There have been 5 winners to date!

What a nasty, cold, wet day here. Yuck! Tomorrow is going to be more of the same here then better after Wednesday.

    Everyone take care!

Good Morning....I was a bad girl yesterday...so therefore I was a bad girl today...I DID NOT WEIGH IN.... I can feel the weight is up...mainly from the sodium.....so today I am going to be very good and will be drinking a lot of water..:drinker: :drinker: and will then weigh in tomorrow.

I have a doctors appointment next week and I do not want to show a gain....I want to show a loss but will be happy if it is the same as it was a few months ago....Tomorrow I will be going and having my blood drawn....I hate that...

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend....Mine was quiet but nice.....I am disappointed than none of my kids or grandkids called me....Even the one that lives with me did not show up for dinner nor did he come home last evening...But since he is 27 I really can not say anything....However I tend to feel like he lives in my home free that he should show some consideration to me, oh well maybe I just expect to much...and am living in the past when young people respected the old people...I know I was raised to RESPECT MY ELDERS..but it does not seem to be that way anymore...you just have to read the news or watch TV to see that...and even the commericals now days show the kids being rude to adults.........Of course my oldest son was home...and that was nice...

    Sorry for the mini rant....

Have a wonderful Monday....and I am back on track...the leftover ham is in the freezer the other leftovers will be eaten in moderation....wish the grandson was home to eat some of it....but there really is not much left...my son and I ate well yesterday..twice....

Hi everyone! BigGramma - I'm kind of pissed off at your 27 yr old grandson right now:angry: My S/S is 27 and i would really give him "what for" if he treated his 1 remaining grandparent badly. Some things in the past were BETTER than they are today. So you just go ahead and vent when you need to! Don't worry about not weighing in - sometimes we just sabatouge oursleves with the darned old scale! You've lost SO much weight - and you're right back on track! I bet your Doc is SO happy with you!

We went to this GREAT Italian buffet restaurant down in Denver that we don't dare go to more than once or twice a year.........ate WAY too much but just had a blast! so the cool thing was although the food was SO good - it wasn't all about the food, you know??????? I also took the day off from working out yesterday - i walked the dogs in the morning, AND that dang old cow is GONE:bigsmile:  i'm SOOOOOO happy! So planning another walk with them today and the gym after work!

Barbie and Jake - how's things with you and the beautiful poodles? And by the way - exactly what IS the little red car? i can't tell by the picture! When will you be taking off? Bet you're getting excited. I LOVE road trips!

Phoebe - i used to love running up to Yakima! There was a holiday inn up there that had a buffet with the amazing prawns on it!!!!!!! Sheesh - look what i remember about my days otr! the FOOD:blushing:
I actually remember being covered in ash the very first time i ran up there - from Mt. St. Helens. That was a while back...........Hope your trip is going well!

BG- You go ahead with your rant! I don't blame you one bit! I support your rant 100% and you are being far nicer in your choice of words than I would be! For what it was worth all of you were in our Easter Prayers, so never think that you are not thought of!

Elli- I will miss the cow..... LOL Keep us informed of any additional dead livestock! LOL
