Hi Phoebe, was just thinking of you. I was reading my Ex family web site and they were talking about Ga. What A lovely place and all that fine eating on the gulf. One cousin just came back from there and said she ate her way all over Savannah I have never had the pleasure of being in ga. Would sure like to go there. We was in New Orleans once . Jerry and I had a ball, in our younger days, Oh what fond menories.

gonna go out in the yard today. Jerry is planting our seeds, I seen a Steavie plant but I think I just as soon as get mine out of the pkg. but I may go back and get one later. They say you just drop a leaf in your tea or coffee and it will sweeten it.

Have yourself a nice day. Marie

hi everyone! Hope your wednesday is going well. I just ate my salad for lunch, taking a quick break before i get back to work!

Marie - glad your storm wasn't too bad and sammy didn't go crazy! My dog Billy is 11 years old, he's an outside dog and weighs about 55 pounds. Last year during the stormy, thundery season (and then of course we also have hunters shooting off guns) he figured he could get into the house through the little dashchund door that Hercky uses!!!!!!!!!!1:noway: i couldn't BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!! I keep trying to get some medication for him - poor thing gets SO freaked out! OH a Stevia plant! how cool! I use stevia leaf that i buy in the store to sweeten drinks, oatmeal, etc.! it's great stuff! not artificial!

yes Jeffrey - we are expecting 2 storms - one today - hasn't started yet, just lots of wind, and then 1 on Saturday when i'm doing a fundraiser with my friend Jamie for a class - she's a freshman in hs. I'm their sponser so we have to sit outside Petco from 10 till 4 collecting donations for the humane society. Which sounds like GREAT fun as long as it's not snowing and cold!!!!!! Guess we'll see. Glad your arm is better. I weighed this morning - know i shouldn't and i'm down another pound. I just don't think that will hold though 'till Monday morning and that's my "official" weigh in. I don't record anything 'till then. Do you do yoga today? I'm going tonight to hot yoga! good stuff!!!!!!

Phoebe - a friend of mine who drives for HVH stopped by yesterday and he was saying the same thing - anymore running from here to CA is a good run for him..........that's AWFUL!!!!!!!! He also is a Vietnam Vet - i will tell him about the agent orange/diabetes connection.........scary stuff. Boy, your Jim sounds like he can build ANYTHING! That is so awesome. Your house must be beautiful!!!!!! That cedar headboard sounds wonderful! Lucky you!!!!!!

Wow - you guys with your April last frost - i always wait 'till mothers day before planting most things (i get lettuce, onions and garlic in earlier) and sometimes i STILL have to replant if we get a freeze..........don't know if i'll even GET to plant a garden this year:frown:

OK! I'm back to work - oh, heard from my Soldier/son again today - his internet's been working! So that always makes me so happy! Have a great day all! ttyl!!!!!!!!! elli

you are getting to be a jack of all trade. really admire you for that.

I had a nice salad for lunch too. I am trying to stay away from bread. I added some chili beans to mine.
While at Walmart this morning bought some fresh chopped red and green peppers and chopped onion, cucumbers, really getting lazy with all these convenics pkg. w/ a little salsa and light ranch dressing. and my coffee.

Hi everyone, slow day here isn't it? well, we are keeping busy, and where is Biggramma?

Marie, I haven't visited all that much of Georgia myself, just here and there. I wasn't born here.
I get dried stevia leaf from the health food store. It is organic too. I just put it in my mouth for a sweet treat.. it is sweet like sugar with no real flavor that I can tell. Of course for coffee/tea etc I guess the kind in the grocery is best.. I think they call one brand of it.. Truvia.. don't know if wal mart has it.

Elli, yep, it is tough all over.. but we are glad we still have a job. That is funny about your big dog in a small door.. bless its heart!! I will be thinking about you Saturday in the cold, I hope you get some donations.. hey maybe everyone will feel more sorry for you and donate more.. but you know they are going to be thinking you are Crazy!! :smooched:
Jim is not a great carpenter, with all the exactness that requires.. but he loves to work at it, and I told him a while back that I didn't want to buy any more furniture.. If I think we need something, he can make it! Except for maybe a sofa!!
    have a great evening

I just wrote a really long post, then hit the wrong button and lost the whole thing:sad:

Hi everybody, my day has rushed by with lots of fun things, We're packing for a long weekend out of town. We'll leave after my line dance class tomorrow and get back late Sunday afternoon. Jim will be playing golf on Friday and I'll be spending part of the day with a friend at the fitness center and pool at the hotel. We are bringing a lot of food so we can avoid restaurants as much as possible. WE're bringing our laptop computer so I may be able to keep in touch with you while we're gone.

Sandy, I agree with you about exercising at night. I had a lot more energy at 9AM at line dance. at 6PM when I got on the exercise bike it was a lot tougher. I was watching skating so I was a little bit energized by the skaters.

Elli---you continue to amaze me with your work on your house and all the exercise you do. Your son is going to be amazed when he gets home and sees his slim mom and you new house.

Phoebe, your cats are as entertaining as mine. They must bring you a lot of pleasure---did you say that they travel with you?

Jeffrey, I'm so glad your arm is better. It must have been so frustrating. I know you'll reach your next goal soon.

Marie, thanks for your leadership and encouragement on this thread (and all the good stuff you've done on the other threads you're involved in). You are so helpful to all of us.

This was the first day of reaching for my goals and I feel great about them. I hope for good days for all of us in April.

We had cold rain this morning. The people at higher elevations near here had snow. Spring is still around the corner.

Best wishes to all. Time to drink some more water and have my cereal snack.:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

Hope you and Jake have a lovely weekend. Be looking for your return and post if you get a chance to.

Hi everyone! I expect you are all getting tucked into bed and here I am just getting on the computer. We have had a busy couple of days. Neil was at his trying best yesterday but is back to his sweet self today, hoping it will last more than a day. I know he is feeling housebound and depressed. We took him out tonight so he could see his brother and sil's new house. Well, new to them house. They have all sorts of plans, most of which involve work from my husband. I know he will enjoy helping them. We went out for dinner after the house viewing and now Neil is tucked in bed and Dave and I are both madly typing at our computers.

Marie -- You are an inspiration, my friend. Enjoy those veggies!

Phoebe -- You were asking when it warms up here. If feels mighty warm today (about 34F). The river is still covered with ice but that didn't stop someone from wanting to jump over the bridge (no it wasn't me although the thought has entered my mind a few times over the past couple of months!!). I am making an assumption but as I was crossing the river this morning there were 3 police cars on the bridge and they were very involved with a woman. We usually get snow at least once in April and sometimes a snowfall in May. We have had way more than our share this year so I am hoping for none. Are you two off for awhile or do you get a chance to post while you travel? Your posts always make me smile.

Barbie-- Way to go on reaching your goals! That is huge!! Have a wonderful weekend.

Elli -- I took a look at your pictures. Wow!! That is a big project. You are very brave, I wouldn't know where to begin!! How wonderful it will be to have your son home.

Jeffrey-- Your exercise regime makes me tired!! You must have built up a lot of muscle, good for you.

Good night from your lazy friend (sigh). Gayla

    Hi Everyone,
I am very late today and/or morning. Had things to do this morning and then had a lunch date and then to bingo. For lunch I had a ham and cheese crepe so I kind of used a lot of my calories.
I did well though and managed to stay under my days total.

We will miss you Barb, hope you and Jake have a wonderful weekend together. I am sure two lovebirds like you will have a great time. I am impressed with your goals and if I knew how to add them like you did at the bottom I would add a couple of my own.

Since it is late and I am very tired, I just will say hi to all of you and address you all tomorrow with more personal notes.

I love this site and love the encouragement.

I certainly will miss Barbiecat. Glad it is just for the weekend., She is one of the nicest person I know. I look froward to her post and to see what kind of advise she has for us. She is living the life of a true MFP

 Barbiecat---- I know you are busy this morning getting ready to leave for you trip. Have a nice. one.. And a safe one. glad you are taking you own food with you. Jeffrey, I know you and your family are going to be together this week end. Have fun. Lose that lb while you are gone.

 Phoebe---You bring the light into my eyes. I have not work on any cards in a long time. I will do up some Christmas cards later on tho.

 Lafla--. Jerry got our seeds all planted yesterday. He made our garden a little larger this year.. We will still go buy some tomatoes plants so we will have tomatoes sooner.

 Biggramma. Sure do miss you. Hope to see you soon. Your buddies are here for you.

Jeez i love you guys - you're all always so upbeat and encouraging with great ideas! Even if i'm having a bad day you make me feel better. I have to go to the dentist today:angry: - probably my WORST thing (like - i'd rather give birth?!?). And i have all kinds of "stuff" going on. AND to top it off last night when i was flossing a piece of a back tooth just broke off:grumble: Oh i can't STAND teeth. I'm tempted to have them all pulled and get dentures. thoughts???? Sorry for venting.

Barbie and Jake - have the BEST time! I'm so amazed that even on a trip you're making provisions to stay on program!

Gayla - I'm glad Neil was feeling better yesterday - hope he continues to feel better! That's so great that your hubby can help the kids with their new house projects!

Marie - your garden is IN already?!?!?!?! WAY COOL! I'm a little jealous right now! I'm afraid i may have to get my veggies this year from the farmers market - which is all right - they have it once a week in the same little town where my gym is.........it's just not the same as growing your own you know? But i KNOW how much work the garden takes (i do it organically) and with the house i just don't know if i'll have the time.:frown: It will only be the 2nd time in the 22 years i've lived here that i haven't had a big garden:cry: Oh well - it'll be all right!

Sandy - you did so great staying under your calories after a big lunch. I have a hard time with that - i KNOW i should eat less at night but that's when i want my bigger meal. Plus i work out AFTER work so i always have lots of calories left over then. If i eat a lot at lunch i could be in trouble!

Everyone have a great day! After my "adventures in dentistry" this afternoon i have to go talk to the cabinet guy, pick up horse feed, go to the gym! Hopefully i'll get back on for another post tonight!
    and hugs!!!!!! elli

    Good Morning One and All!

Sounds like everyone is happy! I really like that! Dayanne and I getting ready to take off this afternoon for the long weekend and to see our oldest. I know I have bored you all with that for several days! I will try to find or do something new and entertaining! LOL

Elli- Had a great yoga workout last night. I am really starting to improve on my balance postures. The ankle that I injured is finally feeling stronger. Keep your eye on the weather!

Sandy- You are doing so well! I am very happy for you!

Gayla- Glad your son is feeling better! I think I may be at a new weight now but I am not going to post until after this weekend. The strength factor really has been improved. Thank you for you comment! I appreciate it!

Marie- Keep going! You are doing wonderful!

Everyone else- Sorry I missed you, but please accept my encouragement!

A sunny good morning to all of you. It is sunny right now but we are expecting more rain tonight.
Can't wait until it is warm enough to sit outside on the patio and cook on the grill.

Barb and Jake, have a fun weekend, sounds like you will be eating healthy, love your determination.

Jeff, you also have a great time with your family, my guess is that you lose that one pound before you even leave.

Phoebe, did you say you are on the road again this weekend?

Lafla, glad your son is feeling better and hope he continues to have good days.

Bgamma, wish you would check in with us, just to tell us about your grandchild.

Elli, you wear us all out just by reading your post. At the rate you are going the house will be done by summer.

Marie, great job on the garden. I don't plant a vegetable garden but I do put in lots and lots of flowers.
We won't plant until the end of May since we never know when another frost might hit.
We only put Cannes in the ground, everything else is in planters. I have a fountain in the center of my yard but no grass, so when I am done it looks gorgeous. Will post a picture once everything is in bloom. I can't wait.

    Have a good day everyone.

Love you guys!!

Oh shucks.. that's so cute!! Ever notice how weird things look when you put your fingers on the wrong place on your keyboards??

It is a dark and stormy day here, but the cats are outside, when they come in, wet feet and all.. they slide everywhere.. and we laugh.. poor kitty kitty..

I've been working in this room forever, and I am just about to get the bed cleaned off so I can remove the comforter to wash it.. talk about a mess!! It is pretty much down to the scrapbook area now.. so I can concentrate on it instead of tripping over stuff.
I must install the new apc backup unit on my pc today.. which means disconnecting everything, and then trying to put it all back together.. I'm leaning toward an all in one wireless printer scan, copy, maybe fax, and a laptop computer.. this, I think, would get rid of a few wires..anyway, if you don't hear from me.. you know what I am doing.. and maybe I'm messing things up!!

I got a recipe from taste of home weekly light desserts that sounds promising, but I don't have a need to bake it.. it is a pineapple orange cake.. made much lighter, and kept moist by refrigerating it. I learned from my aunt that a cake with a whipped topping as a frosting ingredient will be more moist after refrigeration for at least overnight. If any of you need the recipe, I'll post it, but not unless someone asks.. coz I don't want to start a trend that no one wants.

Elli, do you mean you have horses too? How did I miss that?
You know, when we were looking in this area for our house, we found one that had a basement. In the majority of the basement, the previous owner had made a greenhouse/green room. Complete with long built in shelves for the plants, and grow lights mounted over them.. very nice.. it was a great selling point for me, but Jim couldn't 'envision' the new carpet/kitchen as I could.. so we didn't get it..
I'd imagine a lot of people in cold climate areas have greenhouses, do they?
Jeffrey, you are never boring, don't even think about it!!
Gayla, if 34 were the high here, the grocers would be running low on bread and milk, people would fear a deep freeze!! I remember a year in Albuquerque, a man was on a bridge, and the whole freeway was shut down, the police didn't want him to jump off and land on a car.. or truck.. I just wanted to avoid the awful detour.. but it was a scenic trip with lots of traffic lights. He turned out to be a mentally disturbed(no kidding!!) homeless man. They got him off of the bridge, but they sure took a while.. I think I would have sent a tranquiler dart his way!!
so we made it thru April Fools day, didn't we?
I don't think we mentioned it.. can't be sure..
    take care

I'mmm back  Didn't exercise today :blushing: I went to a meeting and then did a little shopping at Wallie Mart  My neighbor had given us some humongous stuffed pork chops so I defrosted them and am now baking them. I have no idea how long to cook them since I am not a good cook. I think they weighed in at four pounds for the two of them, so I hope I can stay under my calories. I am baking them for about an hour at 350, does that sound right????

Jeffrey you are certainly not ever boring, we love bragging about our children and grandchildren.
I didn't know you had horses either Ellie do you ride or show them? Years ago when I was young I had a horse, it was so big and so fiesty that I had to have someone else show him for me.
Phoebe do you do a lot of scrapbooking? My daughter does stamping and she loves it. My hobby is the computer, I love to make DVD's. I hope to transfer all my home movies onto DVD, so far I only have done two years. :ohwell:
Marie, you are the most postitive person, what a wonderful thing that is. You sound like a very special person and so computer savy.
Well in case any of you read this before my pork chops are done, I will post it so I can see how long to cook them.

We made it to the hotel safely. we were the first ones on the ferry so we could sit in the car and enjoy the beautiful view out the window:bigsmile: . the car was so stuffed with all the bags we brought for just four days
blender to make Isagenix protein shakes, electric kettle to heat water for tea, bottled water, golf clubs, workout clothes, cooler, food, etc.

day 1----Isagenix shake for breakfast----lunch at home before we left, salmon burger, salad, frozen green beans, supper, veggie delight on multigrain at Subway---bedtime snack, Kashi cereal with soy milk

the hotel is next to a fitness center and hotel guests can use the center so we walked over and checked it out---Jake will play golf tomorrow and my friend, Harriet and I will go to the fitness center.

Sandy, you asked about putting your goals at the bottom of the page---go to "My Home" then go to "settings" then go to "change forum signature" you can add a bunch to your signature----if you add too much, they tell you and you'll have to edit it until it's short enough----good luck

My friend , Harriet, who came over with us is the one who's lost 40 pounds since May. We ate together at Subway tonight and when we told her that we were going to fix our dinner in our room tomorrow, she decided to pick something up at the store so she could do the same thing.

the event we've come to is having a no host dinner tomorrow at a buffet and we didn't want to be in the same room with all that food, so we're glad to be able to eat a planned meal in the hotel and then join everyone in the meeting room.

It's very quiet here without the dogs and the cats but it will be nice to have the bed to ourselves.

You are all so great.  I am so glad to have you in my life.:heart:

Oh barbiecat, Its so nice for you to take time out for us. I was atraid You would not have a chance to talk to us this weekend. tell us more about that cell phone with the step counts. What brand is it and do you think it is fairly accurate? I'm planning on getting a new cell phone pretty soon. The one I had Was just a At&t pay as you go. I didn't used it much Just on trips and very little otherwise. and calling my son I had built my acct up 500 dollors and they cut me off Charge off my 500 Dollars. I paid 25.00 dollars every 3 months and no more than i used it . It quickly added up So I haven't renewed it yet. But I miss it calling My son in ST Louis.

You and Jake are on the road quite a bit And sounds like you are having a ball. Running around all over calif.

Looking forward to hearing from you again.

Hi all I am Maries friend who is deployed...so I am kind of crashing. Things here are rather boring at the moment while we wait for the main group of engineers to join us so we can finish some projects in the next couple of months. I am going to be training for a half marathon while I am here and as Marie has stated...well the food here is rather ummm interesting... should make loosing weight easier. I hope you all have a great day.

    Good Morning,
Welcome Texas, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I am sitting for the 3 1/2 year old today, so I will make this short. I want to get my exercise in before she gets here.
Glad you arrived safe Barb, enjoy your weekend. How great is it that you are determined to watch your calories even while out of town. :drinker:
Marie, even though it doesn't count steps it sounds like you could use the jitterbug phone like my husband. It doesn't do anything fancy just makes and receives calls. If you do any texting then that is not the phone for you. :noway:
Hope Jeff is enjoying his time away. Everyone else have a wonderful day, I will check in later. :flowerforyou:

    Good morning everyone!

Beth - i'm so glad you joined our group! Marie has told us about you! Thank you SO much for your service to our country. You have a special place in my heart already becuase i love Marie and i'm an Army mom - my son is deployed as well. I think it's great that you're training for the 1/2 marathon! My son has been doing crossfit!

Glad you arrived safely Barbie - hope you and Jake are having a wonderful time. You continue to amaze me with all your food preparation. I fear i would be doing the opposite! Good thing i don't get away from home too much:laugh: That's great that you and Harriet have a place to work out!

Sandy and Phoebe - i just have the one old horse now - he's 27. I've had him since he was a 6 year old green broke........needless to say we've been through a lot together:smile: He's my buddy. No - i never showed him - just rode him. I don't even do that anymore - just let him hang out. He just had his feet trimmed this morning.

Tomorrow I'm doing a fundraiser with a group of high school girls - i'm their sponser. We're raising money for the humane society which is great except we're supposed to set up outside and we're in another winter storm warning:grumble: I told the girls to call and see if we could set up inside.
But i'm worried about not getting to work out today OR tomorrow - today i have a bunch of house stuff to do after work. I'll just REALLY have to watch my calorie intake. It's hard when i don't work out 'cause i get used to eating about 1500 a day - down to 1200 doesn't seem like a lot of food.:ohwell:

Where's Biggramma?????? Hope that granddaughter isn't wearing her out!

Marie - i'm so happy that Beth has joined us!

Jeffrey - isn't yoga just the BEST? My studio just got done with the 60 day challange - 60 classes in 60 days:noway: I didn't do it, but i THINK maybe next year i'll give it a try. It's hard for me 'cause it takes 30 minutes to get there, 90 minutes of class, 30 minutes to get home.......makes for a long afternoon! Glad your ankle AND shoulder are doing better. it always helps EVERYTHING so much when we lose weight - especially as much as YOU'VE lost:happy:

OK - i better get to work! Talk to you later! elli

hi everyone, Hi Beth, great to hear from you.. let us know if we can send a care package with goodies that you like.. be happy to do it!!
I can't imagine what the food is like there, I thought it would be good, at least by military standards, but I guess I was wrong. Of course, there is a good point in what you said about losing weight coz you don't like the food..
what if we chose food we don't really like.. then we wouldn't want to eat so much of it, would we?
that won't work for everyone, my aunt says she never met a food she didn't like!

Barbie, glad you are safe and sound, please do something fun for all of us!!
Sandy, glad you had good results with your chops.. Jim likes his grilled with bar b q sauce.. and I just don't eat them at all anymore, got tired of eating them cooked that way. I eat veggies steamed when he has chops.
got to eat a light lunch before we leave for a dr. appt.
Marie, we got your storm last night.. wind rain, good sleeping weather!
    take care all

ps hi elli, you slipped in while I was typing. what is ol number 27s' name? take care

Hi folks! Wow, miss a day here and you have a lot of catching up to do. I only work 3 days a week but they are long days which means I don't always post on those days. It is a bit more cloudy today but warm enough that it is melting. We now have lots of grass showing and I expect the trees will start budding out soon. I haven't done my Spring tour to check all my trees and shrubs. It is so nice to hear the birds. I saw 2 geese yesterday which I took as a good sign that we will, indeed, see Spring! My Neil update -- he has been mellow since my last post, yesterday we had his massage therapist come to the house which was a big help. His toe is sore today, I wish the blackened tip would fall off, leaving healthy pink toe underneath!! He sees his surgeon on Tuesday and we will hear more about the next surgery then. I think we will put him on some anti-depressants following that surgery. Maybe both of us!
Today I planned to clean my pantry but so far it hasn't happened. Dave is off helping the kids with their renovations, Neil slept in so I drank coffee and read a magazine. I really enjoyed it, so it must count for something. :ohwell:

I hope people that are off enjoying the weekend are having great weather and a wonderful time. To the rest of you, take care and eat well.

    Back atcha later. Gayla
