Thanks for the info. I was able to see the Dr. yesterday. He said surgery is basically the only way to get rid of my pain. The disc is pressing against the nerve, and the only way to have lasting results is to remove that piece, freeing up the nerve. Understandable. I also have a bulging disc right above that one. So, my L4-L5, and L5-S1 are both messed up. 8 week recovery after surgery.
I have been going crazy too. I was already set in my routine of daily exercise, and was seeing major improvement in my body which kept me motivated. Luckily I will still be able to go on my cruise in July...even though my hopes of a perfect tummy are out the window.
  :explode: :grumble:  :brokenheart: and any other emoticon that expresses complete rage and disgust...
I'll keep you guys posted, and thanks again for the support!

Adnana: Sorry to hear that you are in this position. It has been a week since my ACDF (anterior cervical discotomy with fusion) surgery and let me tell you the recovery is the worst part for me. I literally felt better immediately after the surgery. I'm serious in this last week I've felt better than I did for the last 5 months. Part of me is angry because I feel like right now I've been prescribed all these pain meds and I honestly don't need them. I'm really only taking the Motrin just to make sure the swelling is in control and I'm barely taking any of the other meds. Where was all the desire to make me comfortable when I was in real pain? I know that your surgery will be more extensive because it is in the lumbar region but don't let it freak you out if you decide on the surgery. I read so many negative posts on the net that I really was freaking out about my surgery. Now I'm so glad that I did it.

Sure wish I was running it again this year. You just can't beat a run where people hand out free beer. I had 2 on my run last year. Just for the experience

Really?? Oh, I couldn't handle that. I can't drink beer even when I'm NOT running. Maybe next year??

I can feel yesterday's WO and it is great! Also got in a 4 mile run last night. Needed to burn off some stress! Trying to decide whether to run or try the burn interval.

I had a great run this morning!!!! Total 6.21 miles but I walk to warm up and cool down each for 10 mins so total running 4.63.m. I use mapmyrun.com so I can get all this info. This route is pretty hilly. :noway: And it was pretty humid this morning, 83% Yikes!!!

Teachnrun, how many times a week do you run? Lately I've only been able to manage 2 runs outdoors. Maybe one on the treadmill but I really don't enjoy that. If you havent tried the burn intervals, skip your run if you can, it is fun but challenging at the same time.

Burn circuit 2 and ab burner tomorrow morning!!!! :flowerforyou:

I run 4-5 times a week. I'm following a Runner's World smartcoach program to train for a 20K the last Saturday in May. This is a light week: no long runs

I'm ready to run outside, but our weather lately is NOT cooperating. Lots of rain and wind, and I am fair weather. I have to admit to watching TV on my laptop while I run on the TM.

Maybe I'll do both tonight  If so, I'd better get busy

I did third round of burn 2 this morning. I went very slooooooooooooooow and heavy so will see if I finally get sore...  For some of the exercises I could only do up to 11. I definitely need to get 25lb dumbells. I really don't want to spend the money on the bowflex weights...I am going to Zumba tomorrow instead of intervals and then run or do intervals on Sunday. I am trying to do the circuits on Mon, Wed and Fri.

    Have a great day!!!! :flowerforyou:

I did Burn 3 this morning. I will go heavier on a couple of the exercises next time. My delts are still a touch sore from Wed. Didn't get intervals in last night but I did run 5 miles. I just couldn't justify more time from my kids. It has been a rough emotional week with my 14 year old. Anyway bows I've at least done one session of each of the Burn workouts, so I know what to expect and what adjustments to make. I am enjoying the program!

    Have a great day!

Have a great run/wo everyone and an excellent weekend!

  • Well I decided to go back to the Lean Phase, missed some workouts so just going to start over week one on Lean Phase... man what a great workout ;) then I did 30 min of cardio on the wii fit fitness coach and actually burned more calories doing that than CE... :) But I think the combo of them both is going to bring great results ;)

Started week two. Did Burn One yesterday, ran 3 miles this morning, and did Burn It Off tonight. (I was busy all day Sunday, so did not try Burn It Off or Recharge as I had originally planned. But, went to church, helped DD with a school project. cleaned out the fridge, and did nursery duty at church Sunday night)

I'm finding the more I do, the more I like this program. I've been upping my weights and I can feel the difference. I really like the Burn Intervals. Great workout!

Good morning ChaLeaners!!!! :drinker: :drinker: The start of week 4!!!!! I did burn 1 and ab burner today. I increased my weights on most of the exercises. On some of them I reached failure at the 10th rep. My arms still feel heavy. I stopped by Sears yesterday to look at the Bowflex weights. They are great!!!! I just dont like the price   I am going to monitor their sales very closely and see if they go on sale. I really need heavier weights for my leg exercises, 25/30lbs but I want these weights soooooooo bad :grumble:

    Have a great day!!! :flowerforyou:

No Burn yesterday, so I did it today. Burn Three is scheduled for tomorrow. That will make back to back so I hope that is okay. Long run scheduled for Saturday, as well as lawn mowing and a softball game for DD so I won't have time on Saturday or I would do Burn It Off or Burn Intervals.

What is everyone else up to?

Hello! I'm on the 4th wk of the burn phase. I did burn 2 and extreme abs this morning. I was going to do burn it off but felt I did not have the energy to do it. I did about 30 mins on the stationary bike instead. I am planning on doing burn 3 on Monday and start the push phase on Wed until Sun May 17. I will take a week off since I am going to Vegas with my husband until the 21st. I will start back up as soon as I come back. How is the push phase? I am looking forward to it. I am going to watch the videos this weekend if I have time. Have a great day!!! :flowerforyou:

Good morning!!! I did burn 3, ab burner and fat blaster this morning. :drinker: It is the end of week 4 for me. :drinker: I have a dilemma and I hope you help me make a decision. Taking a poll. I am going on vacation next week, to Vegas, with my husband and I am not planning on working out.

    1. Should I start the push phase on Wed (P2Fri, P3 Sun) and then continue with push week 2 when I come back?
    2. Or same as above and repeat week 1 when I come back?
    3. Or do another week of the burn phase this week and start push when I come back?

Looking forward to hearing from you! Have a great day!! :flowerforyou:

Burn One for me today. I upped some weights again. I think next time I'm going to go up to 25 on a few of the lower body/ab exercises.

Has anyone looked at the Reebok weights at Target? They are adjustable; they will go up to 25 lbs. and are $59/weight.

Alf: I'm obviously behind you, but I think I would wait to start the next phase; maybe repeat another week of Burn? It will be good to hear the opinions of those who have gone before

    Jess, lovely new pic!

I'm planning to run and do some abs in the morning.

I'm preparing from the all clear from my surgeon next week so that I can finally start the CX although I know that she will only increase my weight allowance to about 20 - 25 lbs and no push-ups. Has anyone done CX with the bands? I'm still considering buying the set of 3 from BeachBody before my 30 day free trial ends. We have a 2 week vacation planned for this summer and I know that I could keep up while traveling if I had the bands.
  • Good Morning.. I'm just flying by to say Hi , now off to do CE Burn Intervals ;) Have a GREAT DAY

Good morning! I did burn intervals this am. I love that workout. That was all I had time for this morning unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion. So far I have one vote for ea option so I have not decided yet. I am more inclined to start push now since I can't wait to see what is all about. Good to hear from you Duffy!! Glad you are doing well.
