Nolachick--- ahhh!! I'm SO happy for you! I love that feeling of excitement you get once you can fit into something you haven't been able to in so long!! I bet it is motivating you even more!!! You can do it!! It's good you are drinking lots of water today! Try to limit your sodium intake today, and you'll have less "water weight" retention! I'm excited for you!! IF the scale doesn't make you happy...keep working hard! Sometimes it takes a little bit for everything to catch up!! WAY TO GO!!
I had a great night... I did 45 minutes of Turbo Kick, felt amazzzzing! I could really feel my abs flexing as I did a lot of the moves. Then me and my hubby did ChaLean Extreme while dinner was cooking. Today I am feelin it!! AND I am sooo hungry today! To keep my metabolism in overdrive.. I eat my breakfast all morning long.... 8am (sourdough english muffin) 9am (light cheese) 10am-11am (apple W/ peanut butter). And then I eat lunch around 12:30. And then 2pm (natural almonds) 3pm (carrots) 4pm (banana---gets me energized for my workout at 5:30). I literally eat all day long! Its great though, and keeps my metabolism pumped. Yahoo! My biggest problem area right now is my Abs/ stomach area. I am going to start combining a lot more running into my workouts in conjunction with my current core training exercises.
Have a great weekend!0 -
Thanks for the support ladies. You are the best! :flowerforyou:
I am DEFINATELY more motivated now and I definately will not let these holidays make me slip up. I have already planned for my trip I will be walking/jogging 4 miles 3x a week with my mom and doing the turbo jam dvd's at home. My goal is to actually lose weight those 2 weeks I'm gone. So hopefully that will happen for me.
My reward: a trip to the salon and a new haircut to go with my new body.
Shera I ur new pic! U look amazing. omg those eyes~!
Porterbaby: what have u done since I last replied to ur thread yesterday? Did any of my tips help? I hope u got some things accomplished and kept busy.
Dawna: suggestions on low sodium meals? Tonight I would have a light dinner but I'm going to a concert so I wanna eat well so I'm not starving after and make bad choices.
Have a great friday everyone!0 -

Dawna: suggestions on low sodium meals? Tonight I would have a light dinner but I'm going to a concert so I wanna eat well so I'm not starving after and make bad choices.
Have a great friday everyone!
This is my dinner tonight (low sodium)
Broccoli - Raw, 1 cup, chopped
Fish - Salmon, Atlantic, wild, cooked, dry heat, 3 oz
Potatoes - Red, flesh and skin, baked, 1 potato medium (2-1/4" to 3-1/4" dia)
Onions - Raw, 0.25 cup, chopped
Bolthouse Farms - Baby-Cut Carrot, 1 oz. (85g/8 carrots)
Cheese - Parmesan, shredded, 1 tbsp
Generic - Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 1/2 tbsp
Garlic/Herb seasoning
Basically I am going to cut up my potatoes, and carrots and onions & sprinkle some "salt free" seasoning on it... then I will put them in tin foil (wrapped them all up) and then stick that in the oven for about 30 minutes or so. Yum! I'm already drooling...
This dinner comes to 199mg of sodium. I'm trying to get less than 1800mg of sodium for the DAY. Since my lunch is high sodium, I've gotta go low sodium and drink LOTS of water!! If you eat lots of veggies and some grilled meat, you can probably stay full. You'll even probably have some calories left over for a small snack afterwards. I would just try to go for an overall lower total of sodium for the day. And be sure to drink lots of water!! I wouldn't recommend eating "out", because restaurant foods are loaded with sodium.
Good luck!0 -
im having salmon tonight as well, i put my salmon in a baking dish and use about 1/2-3/4 low sodium broth, top salmon with thin cut lemon slices, occasionally put some low sodium old bay seasoning, bake for ten minutes ( we love the salmon when it undercooked). i also made brown rice and black beans, broccoli, yummy.0

AWW you guys are so sweet, Dawna sent me a comment as well Thank you ladies!! I didn't lose any weight this week and I haven't measured either but my sz.12 am eagle jeans I can officially pull down w/o unbuttoning!!! OMG feeling great! Aunt flo is gone *B- to the ITCH* so i'm looking forward to weigh in next week HAHA yeah i know i'm odd HAHA but between aunt flo and thanksgiving I had retained 4 lbs this week...glad that's gone!
Thanks again for the wonderful picture comments, you guys are the best!0 -
HELLLOOOOOOOOO LADIES
I couldn't wait to come on today and report my weigh in. I have lost 5lbs in about 3 weeks. Which is major for me, cuz I changed my goals to 1lb a week and still did pretty good. I am officially in the 170's finally! 178
ahhhhhh
feeling so happy and proud of myself for all my hard work.
Have a great day ladies0 -
way to go nola chick, those good weigh ins give you the energy to keep pushing forward. i know i feel re-energized and know i am doing all of the right things.
i am so proud of myself, i just finished running a 5K (after working my 12 hour shift) tonight. i am running my 1st official 5K next weekend and although i have run 5K on the treadmill i wanted to do it on pavement, i am soooo happy. for every 5 lbs i lose i envision a 5lb bag of sugar and how heavy that feels. i feel like i am throwing one over my shoulder and try to feel how much easier it is to run, workout, walk, etc. to think abouth carrying that weight in a backpack and trying to run makes me cringe. keep up the good work everyone!!0 -
NOLA--- THAT IS AWESOME!! WAy to Go! I'm so happy for you! I knew all those workouts would pay off! You've done so well!!
kgrutch- nice job on the 5k! you'll have to keep us updated on how it goes this weekend! it is such a rush and a huge sense of accomplishment!!
I didn't feel like weighing in on Saturday because of Aunt Flo, and I knew it would just be a disappointment. I could just feel that it would be disappointing. So, hopefully this next Saturday!
Friday night I did Turbo Kick Round 30. Saturday I did my 5 mile run, and then did ChaLean Extreme Burn 2. After all of my hard workouts and volunteering I did on Saturday, my husband took me to the mall and we wandered a bit. He wanted me to get a new shirt or something, since he knows all of my current outfits are a little big. So, I got a cute new sweater to wear home for Christmas...its really slimming and I looove it! Tonight is my last night on the Burn phase, and next is the Push phase! yippie! I am also going to try to get Turbo Kick in this evening before I have to babysit for a friend. And then I'll do CE later. Its feeling great to be in shape!!! I should be pretty good getting my veggies & fruit in today!!
Happy Monday!0 -
Good morning Ladies !!!! I have been MIA for a while just been so busy with trying to pack and get ready for a move . Its great to see you are all doing awesome . I missed you guys hopefully life will slow down soon and I can get my butt back in gear
Keep up the good work girls :flowerforyou: :drinker:0 -
i am so excited, just back from ww meeting (i still go there for my official weighins) and i lost 4 lbs this week, i was so excited, last week was only 1.6lbs and i thought it would be more. i think the extra running on top of my regular workouts really pushed down my numbers. i have only 10 days left for my bootcamp challenge and my goal was 3 more lbs so im not sue if i can do it or not but i will keep trying my best. i go into the bodpod next friday (a body fat percentage machine) and whoever has the lost the highest percentage fo bodyfat (not weight) will win $2500.00. wow, that $ would sure be handy, especially at this time of the year. i have no idea if i am even in the running, there are 70 women and 40 men (each gets a top prize). if i even make the top 10 i will be happy.
i did a new class today called the fight club, it is a 1 hour class, you wear boxing gloves, a lot of punching the heavy bag, kicking, abd's, twisting, really good the entire core. i loved and will definitely do it again. its always a little intimidating to do your "first class" but i am glad i did it and now i will do it maybe 1-2 times/week. i did my 60 min bootcamp class after that which kicked my butt. i admire the people who do at home workouts because i would never have the motivation to do this kind of thing without people pushing me.
keep up the good work everyone, just think, we are conscious of our food and workouts and we will not gain during the holidays, we will look even skinnier next to everyone else who will put on 10lbs. lol0 -
Dawna, I'm sure u'll see great results this week after ur aunt flo has left.
Kgrutch! I am sure u'll do great at ur challenge, maybe even the grand prize!
jocelyn! great to hear from u again, I was wondering where u been. glad u haven't forgotten about us and we definately missed u too.
Keep up the great work everyone0 -
hey ladies, came across this really good blog. wow it's very similar to what happened to me. there was a new girl my friends and I were hanging out with and she was always up for going out to eat, bringing over lots of food and always wanting to eat. so we always had take out at our place. and i couldn't figure out how she was so skinny.
this is exactly what I learned!

nolachick, it was a good blog, moderation is the key to success. our portion sizes are so astronomical in the US that when people come from other countries they are in disbelief. i had a 6'8"/300lb patient from Denmark who even remarked how much food we eat over here ( and i thought he would want double/triple portions). what is real eyeopener is the calories in restaurant food. i have not been going to east much at all over the past 6 weeks but when i start again, i will go on the website and decide what i am having before i get there and stick to it. example, olive garden salad, for 1 portion is 350 calories (i would probably have 2 plates thinking i was doing good eating salad, 700 calories later, i was just starting my meal, not to menton 150 calories for the breadstick). most of the meals are around 1000 calories, just a real eye opener when i am eating 1200 calories/day consistently for the last 6 weeks. this is my personal wakeup call for restaurant/fast food calories, i will never fall in that trap again.0
-
I completely agree, now that I go out to eat and check the calories of all my "favorite" dishes I gasp in disbelief! and also a lot of those "salads" out there are packed with so much crap that they end up being far from healthy. I will stick to my boring sandwiches and brocolli for lunch haha. and see what next year brings.0

What an eye opening blog. Moderation is indeed the key and I too was amazed how many hidden calories are hidden in restaurant/fast food. I love zaxby's grilled chicken house salad and just knew I was eating healthy until I decided to check out the website a while back and found that the salad was worth about 10 or 12 Weight Watchers. As I looked closer I noticed the shredded cheese, fried onions and texas toasts were the culprits. So now when i order the salad I say w/o cheese, onions and texas toast. What I then do is add my own 1/4 cup of fat free shredded cheddar cheese (45 calories) and make my own garlic toast w/the bread I use which is only 40 calories a slice. Sometimes it takes a little extra work but in the end it's definitely worth it.0 -
This was my original comment but I accidentally captured it under the quotes:

Thanks for the post Nolachick. It was a great read. My husband and rarely go out to eat anymore because of the high portion sizes, high calories, high fat, and high sodium! We have been experimenting making meals at home that are similar to restaurant meals but much more healthier! Its more work, but it is worth it.
This week has been an "off" week for me. I have been exercising, but I just haven't felt like working out. But, I'm pushing through it. Its odd because I'm not sick, not pregnant, Aunt Flo is not in town, I'm not eating bad foods, I'm getting enough sleep, and doing everything right- I just am in that kind of mood. But, I am pushing through very hard regardless. Last night I did Turbo Kick Round 33 for 60 minutes, and did ChaLean Extreme for 40 minutes. Then, I attempted to do Extreme Ab Burner, and could only get through like 4 minutes. I was wiped out. Tonight I'm going to do the entire workout.0 -
dawna, you should take it easy, a lot of the times you just need to listen to ur body and let it catch up. after all ur intense exercises, I'm sure it wants a break. (IMHO)maybe not take the whole week off but maybe take every other day off, and in between just do light walking/jogging. trust me it will help to pump u up for next week. My bf takes a week off every 6weeks or so to just let his body recoup. and he's into fitness hard core. haha.
I'm kind of going thru the same thing this week. Its the week I'm trying the hardest cuz I leave to see my family on saturday, but its the off with in terms of diet and exercise. I'm craving bad food and not able to get up in the morning for my workouts. but last night I made myself do atleast the 20minute workout and then a lil zumba for like 15 mins ( I don't have any DVD's so I just looked some up on youtube) - it was fun.
glad to hear from u again tho, I was starting to worry cuz I usually look forward to ur posts everyday!
Haven't heard from some of u....patty? jocelyn? porterbaby? how u ladies been?0 -
i'm doing just fine nolachick, thanks for for caring.0

i need to know something, i'm 5' 7" and i was wondering what is everyone's height? the reason i need to know, is i set my goal to lose 100 lbs. all together. i started at 226lbs. is losing 100lbs. for my height and my frame, is that too much. because to some of my family in ohio says me losing 50lbs. is good enough that i don't need to lose anymore weight. but to me i'm still uncomfortable with my body. i told them that my bmi, show that i'm still overweight. to be normal weight is 116-153lbs. i'm small or medium frame i'm not for sure. i have to get tape measure. they really upset me.0
-
I just checked your BMI and it said ur healthy is in the range 116 - 159lbs. First of all 116 @ that height is ridiculous. I don't think anyone at that height should weigh less than 125 .
To be honest, I'm only 5'5" and I think I look really thin at 150 that's probably my super goal! but if you have 2 more inches in height I would imagine you to look great at 150! I think your goals should be a personal thing, so maybe they just aren't used to seeing you at ur current weight and can't imagine you losing more. I will say one thing tho - when you are setting a goal, don't be so much focused on the numbers on the scale. Go with whatever weight makes u feel happy and whatever weight is realistic for you to maintain. Perhaps you get to 140 or 150 and feel comfortable with your body. It all depends on how you feel. Also remember that it helps to tone up before you feel good at a certain weight, so start doing some of that to see if you become more comfortable with ur body.
Hope that helps and I didnt confuse you. Have a good day.0 -
no you didn't confused me , in fact you're very helpful. thank you very much, nolachick you are a very sweet and a wonderful woman. i appreciate everything you tell me and in helping me . good luck with your goal.0
-
:blushing: :blushing: :blushing: Your're very welcome porterbaby! I'm glad I can help.0

I agree with nolachick, i'm also 5'5" and I was always between 150-155 in high school and I was skinny and should have enjoyed being there LOL I always thought I was fat.
I think you really need to see how you feel at 150 and go from there. I love my family and friends I really do but it's so hard to hear it when they say "you look really good at **weight, because to be honest they said that when I was 180-190 and they told me I didn't need to lose any weigh. I knew that I was overweight I knew I didn't feel good about myself and I chose to do something about it. Even now im at 165 and my BMI is overweight and my good friends next door told me (who is 120 & 5'7") that I looked good and I didn't need to do anything HAHA I still don't feel right in my body and I'd love to get back to 150 and see how i feel. I think another 15 will be right on the money if I could just pick up those dumbells and tone a bit more that would be excellent.
Sorry, i don't know if that actually helps you I kind of got side tracked. Your doing amazing! I can't imagine the hurdles you've overcome to get to 50lbs lost but I have to give you HUGE kudo's very proud of you! Keep it up and before long you'll get to a point where you feel great and who cares what # that you stop at!0 -
Good Morning ladies! I agree with ya nolachick, not many people at 5'7" should weigh 116 pounds. I personally think that is a super low weight for that height, but it depends on your body shape sometimes. I have a cousin who is naturally taller and super thin. But, her bone structure is small, and she has always naturally been that small and looked healthy. (she's 5'8" and probably 118) Not me, if I get to 125, I start to look gaunt and sick. (been there, done that)
I agree with you too, Shera! We shouldn't be caring too much about what others feel our "good" weight is. I am so sick of hearing that from my sisters (who are younger and heavier) that say I don't look healthy or my healthy weight is "such and such". Because WE are the ones that live in our bodies and WE know what feels good and healthy. I typically try to shrug it off an just say "thanks! so, how is work going?" haha- nothing like changing the subject to avoid confrontation. Haha!
Porterbaby- First off, congrats on your weight loss, you are doing amazing!! I hope you are feeling healthier and stronger!! As far as how low of a weight you should go.....Here's my two cents....haha
Something that has helped for me is to make small & big goals. My big goal right now is 160 (which I'm hoping to be at on my weigh in on Saturday!). My small goals are every 5 pounds inbetween (170,165,155,145). My big goals right now are at the 10 pound marks (160,150, 140). At every "step" of making the new small OR big goal, I re-evaluate what I need to do, as well as think about how long I need to pace myself in order to make my goal. Pacing yourself is so important. You don't want to lose all of your weight real fast, especially when you are getting down that low, because you may risk getting into unhealthy eating habits (starvation mode). Just be careful, and listen to your body. As I make my "small" big goals I am able to more accurately determine where I would feel the greatest, and healthiest. At my "small" goals I typically re-evalutate what I need to do to look better by the next 5 pounds. Typically its not JUST the weight loss... it is toning, or focusing on specific areas. Like right now I am trying to focus on my core. So, I'm adjusting my workouts and my routine to incorporate things that will help "whittle my middle". When I get to my 150 pound "big" goal, I am probably going to adjust my eating & workouts again, it all depends on what I feel my body needs to reach the goals. I know that once I do get to 150, I am going to pace myself slower. Instead of losing 1 pound a week, I am going to shoot for 1 pound every 2 weeks. (Keep in mind this is for me...it is going to be different with every person).
I am 5'7" and I weighed in the 150s through high school, but my junior year I weighed around 125. I didn't look the healthiest, kind of guant. Granted I didn't lose the weight the correct way to get there, but I just looked a little better with some curves. I would shoot for smaller goals and re-assess. Maybe 126 is good for you, maybe it isnt. (such as, it was good for my cousin, but not good for me). I know that sometimes it gets hard to be honest with yourself because I know for me I always think "oh I could be smaller if I tried harder". But, like I said you don't want to risk being unhealthy. Focus on smaller goals and be truly honest with yourself. For example: If I make my goal of 140 (which is my ideal goal), I may just want to maintain that weight for a while before even thinking or attempting to lose anymore weight. Sometimes when we focus on maintaining a weight before moving onto the next "major goal", we tend to stick with our healthy habits and keep the weight off for good. Or when I do get to 140, I may decide that I feel the greatest I ever have and all I want to do is maintain. As you can see, I haven't even listed 140 as my "goal" on my weight tracker. I'm not even going to think about that weight until I reach my "big" goal of 150. For me focusing on smaller goals and changing what I do to reach them step by step is easier for me.
I find that I ramble on and on... sorry ladies!0 -
thanks kicklikeagirl, shera and nloachick. i appreciate it.0
