@Robin.. (and anyone else who is having hot temps right now... on really hot days I dip a cloth in cold water and wear it around my neck. Get it soaking wet so it drips... not pretty but refreshing. I know there also gel things you can buy and freeze and wear around your neck or as a bandana. It cuts the heat like you would not believe. Maybe that will get you out for short bursts of exercise and take away some of the effects of the heat.

Hi!! I just joined MFP three days ago and I'm determined to get the weight off this time. One of the things I need is support and I've been looking at the different groups and I like what this thread has to offer. I really look forward to getting to know you all.

My Tuesday goals were to log all my calories, exercise for 30 minutes, get all my laundry done and put away, and to participate in the MFP community. Happy to say I achieved my goals for the day and looking forward to tomorrow's goals.

I wasn't able to get to the treadmill tonight for my regular evening walk... We walk to the gym area and there were some thunderstorms with heavy rain rolling through.

Scale this morning said I've managed to lose 10 pounds so far this month! Oh the early stages of weight loss, when it just *falls* off... I'll miss this in a couple months, I'm sure. Updated my "goals" section, and it took 10 calories away from me for the day.

I hope everyone has a great night! :)

Woke up very early for some reason, so I loaded the dog in the car and went to the greenway for a long walk. It was already humid, but bearable and walking as the sun rose was great.

Now back to trying to get caught up at work. Have a great day everyone!

@Robin~I think on some level we are all guilty of being our own worst enemy, I call it “self-sabotage” and I wish I knew the answer. It makes you wonder if deep down we are afraid of what happens after we reach our goals…

@ferafilia~How great that your hubs wants to run with you, you’ll be great support for one another. The best advice I can give is to try using a c25k program on your smartphone to ease into running and don’t run every day to give yourself proper recovery times between runs. Also, shoes are your best friend—so I recommend visiting a running store in your area to get properly fitted. Most of all have fun!

AFM~Not much to report. My Wednesday Wish is that my cast is removed tomorrow and I’m put in a splint. Weather here has been weird, it’s like Spring is late in arriving—we’ve had storms, heavy rains/flooding last two days and more is expected this afternoon/evening. On a good note, it’s keeping temps down—of course, humidity is up. :grumble:

    Happy Global Beatles Day
Today is Global Beatles Day, honoring “the phenomenon and the ideals of the Beatles”. And with messages like “all you need is love” and “in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make”, I think we could all learn a little something about getting along globally from the Fab Four.

Good morning everyone. I hope you are all having a great hump day:happy: I am not sure what was going on with me yesterday but I was just physically exhausted all day so didnt get much of anything done.Today has started off much better. I was up at seven and out walking the dogs by 8. It wasnt as long a walk as I planned cause it is garbage day in the neighborhood so once the trucks started coming in we headed home. Today is my parents 42nd anniversary so I am going to head over there in a bit and wish them a happy day and see if they have anything planned. Other then that it is just clean up the house because as usual one down day results in the house looking like a disaster area. Have a great day everyone and dont work to hard:flowerforyou:  :drinker: :drinker:

I think I might be overdosing on cherries today. They have a lot more calories then I would have thought but I would rather have these calories then chips or cookies:bigsmile:

Queen- Thanks for the update. When I add up your miles it is higher than the total miles you are giving me. Not sure what is up with that. The total miles I have for you is 105.61. That is per the spread sheet and the addition I just did on the calculator. You are farther along that you thought.

jt- I t can think of worst things to eat than cherries. We all have days where we are exhausted. Rest is the best option. I am also working my way to exercise exhaustion. I have been going at it strong for over a week. Not sure I will take a break may just switch to weight training for a day.

Wednesday wish- that Kelley gets her cast off tomorrow. Good luck Kelley- hope it comes off.

The win for me today- Today, I was out doing errands and several of them would take me near my favorite yogurt stops.
    conversation between me and brain:
Me Yogurt would be really good right now as I am walking out of the bank and heading to Target (yogurt place next to Target).
    Brain- Shop first
Me- On way out of Target heading towards car- Yogurt would be really good right now it's hot outside- what flavors do they have?
Brain- You don't need yogurt, it is not worth it keep walking to car.
Me- I keep walking to car without the yogurt

    Brain won round 1

Headed to Amish Market- my downfall is their milkshakes and desserts. Pulling into the parking lot I remember that it was Wednesday and they are closed.

Me- disappointed they are closed, Sweet Frog (yogurt shop) is across the shopping center.
Brain-you don't need it, not worth stopping. Think about dinner instead-
Me- What do I want for dinner- Boston market since the Amish market was closed
    brain- Keep driving

This conversation keep going on until I got home. Bottom line is that I did not get yogurt today. I settled for a breakfast bar and a iced tea- not exactly what I wanted. I did get some chocolate covered almonds at my last stop but I will eat those over the next week or two.

Brain won this round and I did not get my yogurt.

    Hello everyone!!

Today wasn't the best day for me. I had hubby take really honest pics for my "before" shots. This is not my first rodeo by the way and to face the fact that I'm heavier today than I was for my last before pics was hard to face. But it is what it is and I really can't change the way I currently look....no matter how many times I keep staring at the pics. :embarassed:

So, my Wednesday wish is that this really is my time to get this weight off!! I plan to take pics every 10 lbs and it would be nice if that wasn't a year from now. Ya know?

@laurie: I have conversations like that with myself all the time... And usually out loud  Good for you for not giving in to your cravings. :drinker:

Last run of the month, most likely. It was a recovery run, as I ran yesterday morning, but am leaving tomorrow morning for a 4 day holiday with my BF. It was really nice to run a shorter distance and feel good when I was finished rather than push myself to not stop until time was up.

Teresa - I had the same problem last month. I lost 55(ish)... in 2011. and between then and middle 2014? I gained 80. My hubby took my 'before' pictures, too.. And I almost cried. I take my photos the last day of each month. First progress pic will be on Monday. Hoping to see some sort of change! I'm with you on the wish, too... Hoping my 3rd time is the charm!

Laurie - Kudos on the NSV! It's tough to avoid those treats we love so much. Your post reminds me of Awkward Yeti comics, Heart vs Brain episodes. (this one stands out for some reason http://theawkwardyeti.com/comic/fiscal-responsibility).

jt - that was me the other day with grapes. I love seedless red grapes, especially when they have the really firm skin and they kind of pop when you chew them mmm.

AFM - I haven't eaten much today... My kitty is back at the vet, and has to stay over night while they try to figure out what's causing her bladder infection. She developed it back in December, and we treated it with antibiotics through April, thought it was gone, then it came back, and they did an ultrasound.... said "hey, there's a stone, gotta do surgery!".. only when they did the surgery there was not actually a stone. 6 weeks later, all her hair had finally grown back, and she has the urinary issue again... and they shaved her again for another ultrasound (which they didn't call and get consent for, btw, and it's $200, I'm a bit miffed).. and they found the same not-a-stone in there as they saw before... SO... they are going to consult with an internal specialist and get back to me some time tomorrow. Six months and counting with this bladder issue. Think Dr. House knows someone that specializes in feline issues. :-\

Fera- The cartoon was cute. Thanks for posting the link. Hope they can figure out what is wrong with your kitty. It is no fun when they are sick.

A productive day but I am tired tonight. Trying to avoid a snack but I may not have the will power to say no.

@robin - I think we're all our own worst enemy at times. Life and the stresses it brings make it hard sometimes to focus on anything more than just getting through every day. You've recognized the problem and now you can go about solving it!

@teresa - Welcome! You'll find this thread a lot of fun and support. Be encouraged. You've taken the first step and that's the hardest one. I don't think there's anyone here who hasn't lost (and regained) weight multiple times. I sure have and even though I failed to keep it off in the past, I refuse to accept that I will be anything but successful this time.

    @ferafilia - YAY for 10 pounds!!

@kah - Fingers crossed you are sporting a splint by the end of today.

@laurie - LOL at your debate with your brain. And thanks again for being the keeper of the mileage.

AFM - Finally have my head above water again at work. I sure do pay for taking a vacation when I get back, but it's always worth it. Summer is definitely here. It's hot, humid and we're getting thunder storms most afternoons. It's hard to believe it's almost July. I'm finally in a good pattern of getting up early to go on a walk. I really need a rest day, but if I don't take my dog on a long walk every day, he looks at me with judgement in his eyes. And his behavior goes to pot when he doesn't get his exercise. Maybe I'll ask DH to take him one morning this weekend so I can sleep late and rest my tired feet.

    Good morning.

    625_zps5bb38069.jpg

Happy National Handshake Day! Today, we celebrate one of the most common greetings between two people.
Did you know that handshakes have been practiced since at least the 2nd century B.C.? Many researchers believe that the handshake originated in the Western world. It was a gesture of peace, demonstrated by the fact that the hands held no weapons.
Today, a handshake is offered upon meeting or parting. It is an expression of goodwill, gratitude and congratulations. Many people believe that a handshake reveals something about the character of the person who gives it. A firm handshake reflects a confident personality while a floppy handshake reveals a shy one.

“Put all excuses aside and remember this: YOU are capable.” ~Zig Ziglar
