Hello everyone...just a quick check in, the grankids are here and time for a quick break......

Verda, I'm up there with ya...I'm 43 and live in Indiana, we have the rain/sleet combo, lows in teens and highs in the 30's. I just don't like the sleet, makes it dangerous.
Merry Christmas everyone...can't wait until next year!!
  • Hello everyone. Is it too late to join the group. I've been off the site for a few days and just started it over the weekend. I'm looking for a good support group.

I've started going to the gym in the early am, about 5:15 or so, 3 weeks ago. I currently weighing in at 232 or so and desire to get to 170 or less. In the past I've made many weight loss goals but never achieved them. Right now I need support to make it past the infamous 3 month mark, where I usually fade off the face of the earth and gain back the weight and get lazy again. But, imagine this, I love going to the gym and lifting weights. I've figured out I stop because I don't have a support group. Can this group be the magic ingredient I need?

    What do you say team??

Bigtest, let me check and make sure we have all of the 12 “on-board” with this group before we start this year. Give me a few days to check and I’ll get back to you. I am trying to keep the group size small so it is easier to manage and we have some accountability. I do LOVE your profile and think God has some big plans for you, I completely agree to mix faith and fitness, very powerful. There are also TONS of groups on MFP so don’t feel discouraged, I’ve been in/out of several myself and they are all great. Again, give me a few days and I’ll send you a note.

Seems like I am right in the middle at 37. Feels both old and young to me, just depends on the day. I am from Iowa and love it here. Today the weather just stinks. I am sooooo glad we left early to get to the In-laws. Whew… wind, ice, snow, more ice, now more snow and wind…. repeat again tomorrow. BUT Christmas with family is, of course, priceless.

Hey team- Just stopping by to say hi. I can't wait to kick things into gear! I desperately need it... haven't been a good girl at all lately. Nicole and Raymond, I know you guys know "my story" but for the rest of you... long story short... I was really sick a towards the end of summer/beginning of fall. Turns out I have a thyroid issue, and they think I may have Celiac's disease which would mean I can't have any gluten, wheat, etc. for the rest of my life. I went off of gluten and felt SO much better- like a whole new person. I recently saw a specialist who wants to do an endoscopy to determine for certain whether I have Celiac's or not. The good news/bad news is, I have to eat gluten again before the endoscopy so that if it's damaging my intestines (meaning I have Celiac's) they can find it. So, this is my last few weeks EVER of having stuff with gluten in it- bread, pasta, cake, pizza, cookies, brownies, etc. As you can imagine, I haven't been taking it easy at all. At first it wasn't bother me too much, but the last week or so it's really been effecting me in a bad way, so I'm looking forward to getting rolling here... we're going on vacation at the end of April and I want to be able to look and feel good in my bikini!

Hey Kelynn, glad to meet you, but sorry too hear of your troubles...:frown: I hope they can get to the bottom of it for you, feeling bad is the pits! I have a SIL that had a thyroid issue and she also had to give up gluten based foods, took her a while to figure things out, but I just seen her at 5K run and she looked fantastic, she finished 3rd in her age group (50-60 yr old) and said she feels the best she has in years...so maybe that can give you a little hope...maybe with the new eating (after this last test) you'll feel better than you ever have!!!!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
She was sick for almost 10 years before she got to the bottom of things...
I am getting my grocery list around and heading to the store today for some foods. I am going to try hard to prepare things in advance and plan everything out...I tend to have set-backs when life gets busy and I have to come up with dinner plans last minute...with no minutes to cook
    Talk with everyone soon!

Hello. My name is Kelly. I'm a single girl who will be turning 40 in March. I made it my goal to be fit by 40 but I don't think I will be able to that without this groups help. I would like to join this small group. I tried joining bigger groups but got lost. I'm serious about loosing weight. I have lost around 45 pounds and I need to loose 30 pounds more. I'm much fitter than I was a year ago. I am in the second week of 30 Day Shed, but I also go to the gym about 4 to 5 days a week. I really went to be thin for life. I will not give up and let myself or my team down!!!!

I JUST found this, add me if you end up having room please .

MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE IS: FOREST GUMP!! I love the fact how one person CAN make a difference and touch other lives just as we each can, and I love how he just felt like running!

My first serious 5k is Feb 6
Goal: 1/2 Marathon (Chevron Marathon) that will be here in Jan 2011.
I'd like to increase my running time and distance by continuing to run like FOREST GUMP.
Currently running 3-4 times a week, would like to increase that to 5 days a week.

I'm a 41yr old married Texan Gal that has been overweight for years and began this journey in October 2009.

    Oct 2009: 203pds
CW Dec 2009 190pds (went up a few pds due to the holidays and my slacking)
    GW: 150 (for this year)

Dream to become a serious runner and keep running!

Currently eating under 1800 cals a day and under 57 grams of fat per day. My calories actually are around 1300 a day but I cant go over 1800.

    Trying to drink more water.

Fit me in if you can..I am a regular poster

  • Hey team!!!!
Just saying HI!! I've been a little MIA this last week because of all the crazy Christmas events! My fiance and I both have LARGE families so we just finished our 5th Christmas dinner today! Only 1 more to go, thank goodness! I'm definitely scared to get on the scale for our weigh-in on Jan 2nd :S
Not sure if I've given this info yet.. but I'm 25 and from Ontario, Canada... and... we have NO SNOW!! Sounds like you American's are taking all the snow this year, fine by me :P

Looking forward to a BIG START on the 2nd!!!!!!! Happy New Year everyone!

Tick tock..tick tock... 2010 is coming soon. I am sooo ready to get past the holiday glutony.

I've been doing the family rotation too. MIA for a whole different reason. NO wireless at the in-laws and think it's dial-up. SO... plenty of puzzles, cooking, and, of course, shoveling. Our own Kelynn the ninja shoveler knows about this too. Maybe that makes me the Samurai scooper?

    Gotta run, more to come.

Raymond, our fearless leader... I officially dub you the Samurai Scooper. Now, we just need to find a photo of you that will match my Ninja Shoveler portrait!

(By the way, I'm sure everyone else is reading this going "what in the heck is this wack-nut talking about!?!?) :blushing:

Yea, long silly story about the Samurai Scooper and Ninja Shoveler... we're just both a little crazy, that's all, right Raymond?

I'm excited to get rolling here too! Can't wait to officially begin!
  • Rainman,

Will I be joining the group?

    You bet!

I thought about it, and came to the conclusion it's best to start with a few extra folks and give it a few weeks to see how it will stabilize. We'll include bigtest, kellygirl, and jessica if you all still want to join? I'll be working on the roster and first chart this week and have it ready to post this weekend.

For everyone, I will start a new board posting in the next couple days to provide a small greeting, posting formats, members of this post, and date/time to post information. That way I can highlight the group is full until we get to the 90 day mark and then we'll update the roster as needed.

    Any objections?

Sounds good to me. I am ready for the New Year. My exercising has been a little off since Monday due to my husbands uncle, that we stay with and take care of, being in the hospital. He had a stroke the day after Christmas and wouldn't go to the hospital until Monday. But I am hoping I can get back to somewhat normal by Saturday.

Hope all is well with everyone else.

    Happy New Year!!!!
