hey ladies! glad everyone had a good productive weekend! I wont lie my sunday was very bad eating wise but today I was back on track! woo hooo! It feels great to eat clean and then workout and still have a bunch of calories left to treat urself a little.
I had a delicious dinner with grilled chicken and baked potato and a slice of avocado. it was yummy.
went for a 4 mile walk/jog with my friends which is great cuz its fun to catch up with them, but no we dont spend the whole time chatting just during the warm up and cool down.
one problem I had was when I ran for a bit I started getting "stitches" or pain in my sides. Any idea as to what causes that and how I can fix it? I have heard different things about those and I hadn't had them in a whilel so that was weird.

Well just wanted to pop in and say hi.

    Good night ladies!

Good morning and happy Tuesday! Today is week 4 day 2 of the P90X program and it's still recovery week. Today I completed the Core Synergistics dvd and it's quite the workout. Since I'm not as familiar w/this dvd as some of the other P90X workouts it took me a minute to get in the swing of things and there were a few moves that I truly struggled with (bow/boat, sphinx push ups, dreya roll) but stuck w/it the best I could. Since it's recovery week I have to complete this workout later in the week so hopefully I'll see a little improvement then. Nonetheless, the workout is done and I'm happy that I did my best.

Nola: I'm glad you're enjoying the time spent w/friends. It's really cool that you can exercise w/your girlfriends. I don't have many friends here in GA and those that I do have are not really into fitness so jogging/hiking or anything like that is pretty much out of the question. I do enjoy my friends but it sucks when all they really want to do is go to the club, drink and eat. I'm still able to hang out w/them but I don't usually indulge. Hope you keep it up so you can spend the summer wearing clothes you feel comfortable in.

Dawna: Hope you were ablet o get that morning workout in. Hope your TOM is not like mine b/c I wouldn't wish the pain I experience on anyone. I'm glad those last few days are behind me and I pray it does re-appear right before my LA trip.

Good morning ladies! I am so proud of myself for getting to bed on time and waking up early enough to make a healthy breakfast and get to work on time. I am feeling very energized and motivated today! I absolutely love it! Oh and while I was getting dressed this morning I took a peek in the mirror and I gotta say I liked what I saw. I think if I push myself really hard I will have no problem wearing a bathing suit in July! I am sooo excited to even think about it! wooo hoo! :drinker:

Well today's workout is not yet complete but I am trying to decide between turbo jam, turbo sculpt and the shred. I did my hair last night so of course I don't wanna mess it up too bad today hehehe. But that's just the price I gotta pay for fitness! And it's totally worth it!

Have a great day ladies! :flowerforyou:

hey jocelyne! it's nice to hear from you again. Way to go on the 13lbs! looks like you are currently at my mini goal weight of 168lbs! I'm trying to get there by July 1st and hoping I can even reach it before!
Summer definately kicked my butt back into gear cuz I definately wanna atleast be able to wear a nice tank top and shorts when the weather calls for it and who knows maybe a nice bathing suit - I'll settle for looking good in a tankini.

Happy Hump Day all! Today is week 4 day 3 of the P90X program and I'm still enjoying recovery week. According to the P90X schedule I was suppose to complete the Kenpo X dvd but opted for the Core Cardio and Balance dvd from the Insanity workout. I truly enjoy this dvd. While it's not as long as the others (37 minutes) it gives you a good solid work full body workout. I am also happy to announce today was the first time I was able to complete the entire 3.22 minutes of the shoulder burners in plie stance w/o every putting my arms down. My shoulders were seriously burning but I kept breathing through the burn and before you knew it the entire 3 minutes had passed. I think I'm going to finish my week off w/this workout b/c I really do enjoy it.

Porterbaby: Welcome back. Hope you're able to kick some major butt despite TOM. It can be difficult but I'm sure you can fight through it.

Nola: Do you eat a morning snack or just breakfast and then lunch? I eat breakfast and it's usually pretty hardy but my body is usually hungry again by 9:30 am which is when I have my morning snack. The morning snack will keep me full until lunch time which is about 12:30 pm and then I have an afternoon snack at 3:30 pm. Now this schedule is not etched in stone but during the week I usually have breakfast, am snack, lunch, pm snack and then dinner. Sometimes I may have a little after dinner treat. Now my schedule is crazy on the weekend b/c I don't have set schedule b/c I wake up at different times.

Dawna: Where you at? Hope all is well w/you.

hey choco! I have exactly the same eating schedule as you do, I try to eat breakfast everyday, snack, lunch, snack, and finally dinner. I have been having too much protein left over and trying to up my protein intake. for example yesterday I had 40g of carbs left and 110g of protein. I am thinking I need to get a protein shake to drink after my workouts while I'm cooking dinner so I don't pick on other snacks, etc.

Well yesterday I kicked some major butt at the gym! I did 10 mins elliptical, 20 mins on treadmill (HIIT of 5.5 andd 3.5 intervals) and finally 20mins of the stairclimber/stepper (this alone was a HUGE accomplishment since before I would pass out after only 5mins). Today I think I'll let my legs cool down and do some strength training and abs!

Nola: Great job rockin it out at the gym yesterday. I'm sure your legs may be a little angry w/you right now but they'll be loving you when your rocking your short shorts this summer.....LOL. I purchased some Whey Protein powder by Optimum Nutrition at GNC and it has really saved the day w/helping me increase my protein intake. I'm sure eating it from actual food would be better but I know I would not get in nearly as much as I do if it weren't for the powder. I have french vanilla and extreme chocolate and love both. I usually mix the french vanilla w/frozen berries and 1% milk and the chocolate w/a banana and 1% milk and both are delicious to me. I believe they are about 120/130 calories a scoop and 24 grams of protein a scoop. On days where I don't have a lot of calories/fat grams left put a decent amount of protein I mix the powder w/water and to my surprise I still like it. I'm a big smoothie/shake type of girl so no matter what I mix it with I put it in the blender w/ice cubes. Oh, I forgot I also add 1/2 scoop of the french vanilla to my oatmeal and yogurt so I can really up my intake.

Hi ladies! Sorry I haven't posted much. I haven't been feeling that great this week. I had a major headache for 2 days, and my eyes were twitching, I lacked energy and not to mention TOM came into town. I've been trying to get some rest. I feel more energized today but I didn't dare get up too early to avoid another major headache. So, I got to work early so I can leave a bit early to get a good workout in tonight. I'm also planning on playing some volleyball with friends. I'm not sure whats been going on though. I had decided if the headache was still lasting today I would go to the Doc...but after going to bed last night around 7pm, I woke up this morning feeling better and the headache was gone. I kind of wonder if I did something to my jaw on Sunday. I remember biting into something rather hard...and then later that night I got a headache. I feel super guilty, which my husband has been telling me I shouldn't..just because life happens and things happen and I'm trying to realize that I can pick up right where I left off and just keep chugging along. So, that is what today is...my day to keep moving along, and pick up where I left off on Saturday. You ladies and all of your powerful workouts inspire me and I am excited to be feeling better to be able to get my workouts in.

So glad to hear everyone's enjoying their workouts...it makes me anxious to get home and do my workout!! Yippee!

Hi ladies! Well, I'm excited to say that I "made up" for my lack of energy. I was rocking the energy today! I did 40 minutes of Turbo Kick... and then rocked out a session of ChaLean Extreme. Then some friends asked me to go play volleyball with them tonight. It was a pretty competative 90 minutes of volleyball. It was so awesome. I wore my HRM just to get an idea...and I burned over 700 calories in those 90 minutes. It was way fun. Hope ya'll had a great night! I was soo excited my energy was back today and my headache was gone. It was a gooood day!

Good morning all! Let me start by stating that I'm really tired and I had absolutely NO DESIRE to get out the bed this morning never mind trying to complete a workout. However, I dug deeper and found some strength from within and got out the bed and 40 minutes later the workout was complete. Today is week 4 day 5 of the P90X program and I was supposed to do the stretch X dvd but opted for Cardio X instead.

I've felt so distracted lately and I need to get my mind right. I am sooooooo looking forward to this L.A. trip b/c I just dont want to be in GA right now. I'm not sure what this funky mood is about but it's been here a few days and I need it to go invade someone else's space. I know that "This Too Shall Pass" so i'm holding on until then.

Hope everyone has a great day and I'll try to check in later.

Dawna: Glad to learn you're feeling better and you must have been to complete a workout like that. I can't imagine doing 2 full workouts and STILL having enough energy to play 90 minutes of volleyball. Way to rock it out.

hey choco: I know how u feel, I sometimes get into the same mood and wanna leave nola for a few ddays just to get away. glad u are trying to work thru it and that u have this awesome trip coming up so u can de-stress.

dawna: glad u were able to get ur energy back and have such an awesome workout! I wish I cud play spports like volleyball but I'm so clumsy and have no coordination I suck at all sports. lol

as for me yesterday i was just too tired and didn't listen to my body. I tried to push myself to atleast complete the shred level 1 since it's only 20mins but I ended up making myself sick - got dizzy, got a head ache, just shud skipped the workout and gotten some rest. and I think since I've been doing a lot of work on my legs (mon 4 mile walk/jog, tues stairmaster + treadmill) they are freaking out and they hurt at night so I have to wrap them in a blanket and take some tylenol.
not fun! today I will take a rest day for myself and my sanity lol.

Hi ladies! Wowz I am sore today. My left quad is really sore, it had to have been the squats combined with the volleyball. So, tonight I am going to take a light jog to try to loosen up the muscles and take a niiice long stretch. My legs need the extra long stretch. And then I'm going to make some Mexican Lasagna...its yummy, and I've tried to find ways to make it healthier. So far I'm at 310 calories per slice... for 1/9th of a 9X13 pan. Not too bad for a slice of lasagna. Yikes I need to stop talking about it, its making me hungry. Well, hope you ladies are having a great day! My week is literally looking brighter...the sun is out and the temps are finally supposed to reach 70!! FINALLY!!! I am excited for my Saturday run....hopefully the wind won't be too bad. I guess I can't be too picky. I'd rather have wind than snow.

Tomorrow is the start of the weekend....yahoo!

Good morning everyone and Thank Goodness It's Friday! This week seemed particularly long and I'm glad to have it almost behind me. My mood started out a bit funky but I'm sooo glad I didn't let it get the best of me b/c I feel much better today. I purchased a airline ticket to go home in a couple of months (I live in GA but am originally from Boston) and as soon as I clicked the "purchase" button my spirtis lifted. I absolutely love GA but I have no family here so I guess I'm really missing my family and close girlfriends. Anyway, the ticket is purchased and my mood is better.

Today is week 4 day 5 of the P90X program and I decided to complete the Core Cardio and Balance dvd. As I stated in previous posts, I really enjoy this workout and I woke up w/alot of energy and really gave it my all.

Nola: Hope your body feels better soon. I've done some type of exercise everyday for over a 120 days so I can't really talk but you should listen to your body. If pushing yourself is going to make you sick then it's not worth it. This has been a year of firsts for me. I can't believe I've done some type of exercise (walking, stretching, dvd) everyday since January 3 and that I've worked out throught TOM. I never did anything like that.

Dawna: Hope your quads feel better too but it seems like you have a good plan to get you were you need to be. Enjoy the mexican lasagna. Also, enjoy that 70 degree weather b/c you deserve it.

Porterbaby: Seems like you have got a pretty solid workout schedule so keep us posted on how it works out for you.

choco! u really know how to kick some butt! u have worked out straight and that's awesome. I usually try to do something anything light or heavy everyday also. but my body and my legs especially are not used to running so all that strain on them at once is what think affected me. I definately wanna become a runner so I think I will take up something like c25k and run every OTHER day instead of everyday which is where I think I went wrong. Today I don't have a work out planned but will try to get in a nice bike ride after work.

dawna hope u had a good stretch and feeling better today.

porterbaby sometimes its nice to have some time to urself in which u dedicate to doing everything u need to get done. u will feel so much better and less stressed I think when u can do everything on ur own schedule when u want and how u want.

Good morning and happy Saturday! I hope everyone's weekend has gotten off to a great start. Today is week 4 day 6 of the P90X program and I just finished rocking out the Core Synergistics dvd. I did see some small improvement w/a few of the exercises so that put a smile on my face.

Well today will be mixed w/work and fun. I have a work assignment that needs to be completed this weekend so I'm going to knock that out some time today and then there's a kite festival here in GA and I'm going to check that out.

Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone's Sunday has been as great and productive as mine. It's an absolutely beautiful day here in GA and I was able to enjoy it a little bit before returning home. Today is week 4 day 7 of the P90X program so it's suppose to be a rest day. Instead of doing my typical WATP or Stretch X dvd I decided to try my hand at jogging/running outside.

I was up and out the house by 8:45 am and at the park by 9 am. So I began jogging a little timid b/c I wasn't really sure if I would be able to jog for the duration of the course. I tried jogging outside back in the colder months and didn't do to well so I didn't have high expectations. However, I was able to get into a decent rhythm and before I knew it I had jogged 1.22 miles in 10 minutes and 30 seconds.....Once at my starting point I took a quick breather and took off running again and would you believe it that I was able to finish in slightly less than 10 minutes......WooHoo, WooHoo, WooHoo! Now I'll admit if felt damn good knowing I could complete more than 2 miles in 20 minutes but I'm unsure if I can do it again.

My hat goes off and I'm taking a bow to all you runners out there b/c that's serious business. Although I did pretty well today I do wonder if I could have done better if I wasn't struggling w/where to put my ipod, car keys, id and phone. So, my question to all you runners is what do you do w/all your things? I can't imagine jogging around the park w/o my id and a cell phone in case of an emergency put I didn't really have great place to put everything. I had a really small purse that I used but it was a bit of an inconvenience.

After completing my 2+ miles around the park I walked another one as a cool down.

Porterbaby: I'm really sorry to learn about your uncle. I'm hoping you're able to make it to Ohio to spend his last days w/him and to tell him how important he is to you. I'm also glad your man is able to go with you and offer you support. Just remember we are never given more than we can handle so be strong.

Nola: Hope your choices got better throughout yesterday and hopefully the rain let up so you could get that bike ride in

Dawna: Hope your weekend is going well.

    hi ladies!
it was great to read your posts. this weekend has been a great one. the weather has been sooo nice, hence the absense from the thread. it was in the 70s-80s here this weekend and it felt WONDERFUL! so friday night i took a short run, covered 3.25 miles in just under 30 minutes. I was booking it...which was nice to see I have improved on my short distance speed. Then on Saturday I ran 7 miles in about 65 minutes. It felt great and I felt like I could have gone longer, but I didn't want my knees to be crying the next day. I'm trying to increase my "distance" run by about 10% each week. Then today I went for a nice 60 minute walk. It was a beautiful day, and I took today's walk without any ipods or anything..just a nice time for meditation. My eating has been pretty great, and I was super excited when I found out that I do not fit into any pairs of shorts that I own. I literally HAVE to go shopping for some new shorts because my shorts are soo huge. I have about 6 inches to spare in them. So, mall, here I come!

Choco- way to go on your running girl. Its so great that you are aware of you body as to avoid possible injury. As far as all of the stuff...this is what I typically do. I use an i-pod shuffle so I can attach it to my shorts/capris. I usually will take my car/house key off the rest of the key chain and tie it within my shoe laces (so its secure and not flopping around). I will usually carry my cell phone in one of my hands and just rotate between the two hands. And typically I don't carry any wallet or anything. I do wear a wrist band that has my ID information on it. I really want to get one of those little tie backpacks. Its not really a backpack as much as it is just a small carrying case that you can wear like a backpack. It sinches shut, and its lightweight. I need one of those soon!

Nola-- sometimes we just need to take some time for ourselves. Hope you enjoyed your ice cream! And hope you are able to not let it de-rail your progress!

Porterbaby- sorry to hear of your loss. stay strong and use this time to tell those that you care about how much you love them. take care and safe travels!

Good morning and happy Monday all! Today is week 5 day 1 of the P90X program which means it's Chest, Shoulders and Triceps day. This was my very first time completing this workout and I just want to say that it should be illegal to have to do that many push-ups (slow motion 3 in 1, plange, floor fly, 2 twitch speed, side to side, 1 arm, clap/plyo and 1 arm balance push ups) in on day. Since these push ups are soooo much more extreme (in my opinion) than the ones done during month 1 I had to complete a great portion of them on my knees and as a result earned my first P90X injury............rug burn on my knee. :noway: :noway: I've never been a fan of chest exercises and these push ups definitely didn't help but I know next week to use my yoga mat.

Dawna: Your running ability is absolutely amazing. I'm glad you had wonderful weather and were able to get out and enjoy it.

    Hello hello!
Well this morning I skipped getting up at 5am because the weather-man had sunny skies forecasted for today, so I wanted to get a nice evening jog in. Its too cold in the mornings just yet to be getting up and doing my run then. I want to cover about 5 1/2 miles tonight. I'm hoping that I can do my long runs on Saturdays and work my way up to do a Half Marathon by the end of the summer. So for right now I'm going to be increasing my cardio and doing strength training 1-2 days a week. I just want to focus on this goal of running a Half Marathon. Plus, I think it will help me shed lots of fat, and then I'll work on toning and building muscle more later. I know I should be doing more lifting...but with as much running as I've been doing I don't want to over-do it on my body. My friend also scheduled me to teach a kickboxing class in the beginning of June, so I'll be also working on my routine for that.

Its such a beautiful day...I didn't want to come back after lunch!! I ate leftover Mexican lasagna...and its soo yummy. And only 280 calories per slice. I tweeked the recipe this weekend...and its one of my favorites. Not to mention the good carbs (whole wheats) to give me energy and endurance for my run tonight. Yippee!

Choco- thats too bad about the rug burn. I started getting that when I would do army crawls & planks in the livingroom, I had to bust out the yogamat as well. your determination and your ability to set goals and work hard to achieve them continues to amaze me. you don't give up and you don't let anything get in your way (not for long anyways). i think thats one of the most important things about learning to incorporate fitness into everyday life. when do you head to boston & la??

ok ladies. just checking in for the evening. i wasnt able to go out doors cuz i had a bad head ache and with the temp outside @ 93degrees i knew i wudnt be able to handle it. so i stayed in and threw some lean boneless pork ribs in the oven to bake and did a new workout dvd - leslie samsone walk the miles. I completed 3 miles and I actually enjoyed it. I thought it wud be too light but considering i hadn't worked out all weekend, it was just what I needed!

dinner complete, workout complete. now i can shower, relax and get ready to do it all over again tomorrow.

Good night my 10 in 9 ladies! :flowerforyou:
