Good morning all. It's hump day and 1 day til my L.A. departure......Yippeee! Today is week 6 day 3 of the P90X program and the Back and Bicep workout is complete. I don't know if it's all the excitement I have about going on vacation w/the girls or the fact that I did less intense workouts over the weekend but I have had a lot more energy the past three days than I did last week. Whatever the reason I hope it lasts b/c I really didn't like the way I felt at all. My body was tired and my mood was funky. Since yesterday's protein shake and cheese omelet was so yummy I decided to make it again.
Yesterday I headed to the nail salon after work in order to get my full set and pedicure and today I'm headed to the hair salon where I'll get the hair and eyebrows done. I tell you, it takes a lot of work and MONEY to get ready for vacation....LOL
Nola: Thank for the well wishes regarding my upcoming vacay and I plan to take plenty of pictures. Great job burning over 700 calories. I'm unsure if I could commit to such a lofty goal but glad you rocked it out.
Porterbaby: You have to do what makes you happy but just make sure you don't become obsessive about it. We tend to be our worst critic.0 -
Good Morning!
Today I'm feeling great and have lots of snacks to keep me going! Last night I did my short timed run. I ran 3 miles in under 30 minutes and I climbed about 500 feet. My heart rate was sky high by the time I got to to the top of my run, so I did walk about 30 seconds or so, and then got back into the groove the rest of the way home. I pushed myself really hard and ended up burning more calories than I had anticipated, so I made myself a delicious smoothie. Tonight I am pretty excited as my day "off" from running I am going to play an intense game of Ultimate Frisbee. Its an intense workout, running up and down the field, so I'm going to wear my HRM and see how great of a workout it really is! I am looking forward to the long weekend for a nice relaxing break from work.
Nola- way to meet your goal last night and work hard! I bet you felt sky-high after finishing your workouts knowing you could eat some nice healthy meals! Keep up the good work!
Choco- I'm so excited for you to go on your vacay to LA! You are gonna have a great time! And I agree, it takes alot of money to get ready for a nice vacation. So glad you have some extra energy to get those great workouts in before departure timeHave a grreat time!

Hello Ladies hope you are all doing great !!!!!! I was just wondering if any of u use dvd's for your program ? I am looking for something that is fun but not to hard cause im having shoulder issues and breathing problems ugh now on pumps fun
Let me know what you like the best ....Nothing to kick *kitten* LOL .....Thanks girlies have a great week-end
Jocelyn, Sorry i didn't see your message until today. I use the following DVDs in my workout program: Turbo Jam, Turbo Kick, ChaLean Extreme, and Windsor Pilates. Turbo Kick is pretty intense, and ChaLean Extreme is a strength training DVD, very good, not a lot of hard impact. I'm also looking forward to Turbo Fire that is supposed to come out this summer, its a HIIT workout series. Those are the DVDs I have, but my suggestion would to do some research and then youtube or google those particular videos you think might be beneficial and see if you like the previews. The previews are a pretty good indicator on how the workout will be. Good luck! Take Care!
Oh...and you had mentioned breathing problems and being on pumps... has your doctor given you some ideas as to what types of exercises you could do? Since he knows your situation much better maybe he can suggest the levels of intensity you should be ok with.0 -
Good morning and Happy Thursday! Today is week 6 day 4 of the P90X series which means it's a Yoga day but as usual I've switched it out for a little cardio. Since I just got my hair done last night I didn't want to jump around and sweat it out too bad so I opted for a shorten version of the Cardio X workout (I skipped past the Yoga). I wanted to make sure I got the workout in prior to heading to the airport now anything else I do during the course of the day will just be icing on the cake.
Ladies, thank you so much for the well wishes as it relates to my trip. Since the only computer access I will have will be the Blackberry I doubt I'll be able to post very much but look forward to sharing the details of the trip upon my return.0 -

Great attitude Choco! It's no wonder you have come this far, even when leaving for your trip you are making sure you get those workouts in! Keep it up! Can't wait to hear about your trip.
As for me, yesterday I was not able to get my workout in but stuck to my calories very closely, so I wouldn't mess that up atleast. Tonight we are planning on going to watch the Sex and The City opening at midnight so I have plenty of time to get my workout in, plus I took tomorrow off so I'll be sure to get my workouts in this weekend.!0 -
good morning ladies! i wish it were friday
last night we played our first Ultimate Frisbee game. and holy cow! I am sooo excited! I did really well, i either assisted or scored 7 of our 9 points. holla! i was on FIRE! i think a lot of it had to do with how in shape i am. it felt great! i'm not sure what i will do for tonight's workout. i'm leaning towards doing some strength training later. i have a church obligation that i am in charge of, so it may be 8 when i start my workout. if not, i don't feel too guilty resting since i've been working hard this week. i need to go grocery shopping though..i need my paycheck NOW! I'm running out of yummy healthy food!
Choco- have fun on your vacay girl. so glad you got your workout in to get you pumped and ready for the weekend! you'll need that extra energy for all of your fun adventures!
Nola- hope you have a great "Friday" and are able to get your workouts in this weekend Have fun at your movie too!0 -

Hello ladies! I wanted to check in w/the wonderful ladies of 10 in 9. My girlfriends and I arrived safely and hit the ground running. After checking into our hotel, we went to Universal Studios City walk to explore and have lunch. Once done we hopped on L.A.'s public transit system and went to the Staples Center so we could watch the Lakers vs Suns game at the bar w/the locals. WE HAD A BALL!
Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to read the posts b/c the hotel only allows a 45 minute computer session before they charge you but I will give it a shot upon my return.
Despite having been up for 24 hours due to the time change I got up at 5:30 am (Los Angeles time) and hit the hotel's fitness center. I was able to run 3.25 miles in 30 minutes and then I hopped on the elliptical for 10 minutes.0 -

wow choco! you amaze me! glad you are having fun and also finding time to get your workout in.
As for me, I got an awesome workout in last night (I did Turbo Jam cardio Party and boy am I feeling it this morning. )
Then we headed for some appetizers @ applebees (i kno i know, bad bad, but 3 of us girls shared one appetizer)
then went to the movies to watch sex and the city, which I loved! and no popcorn or candy for me! wooo hooo
Now I'm off to try to complete my 3rd - 700 calorie workout for the week. HAve a great day girls!0 -
choco- yay! glad you made it safely and are having a fabulous time! you are hard core girl, getting up at 5:30 on your vacay..haha! especially after a fun-filled evening. now you'll have some wiggle room to enjoy yourself guilt-free today! have fun!
nola- way to get that workout in last night! i bet it helped you make more conscientious decisions throughout the night. hope you have a great workout today!
Last night I got home from work and decided to go for a run instead of doing strength training. i had missed doing my wednesday run and did frisbee instead, so i took a quick 3.5 mile jog before i did all of the rest of the things i needed to do last night. it felt good. around 8:30 i was pooped and decided to have a nice little smoothie...yummm! its supposed to be cold most of the weekend, in the low 50's and 40's. UGH! seriously, I'm getting extremely frustrated with the lack of summer. so i'll probably work out tonight and saturday, rest sunday, and do my long run on monday. since monday is supposed to be the only day thats not rainy. lame! so, my long weekend will probably consist of movies and relaxation, which i don't mind...but i'd prefer relaxing in nice weather in the park or something! have a great long weekend ladies!0 -
hey ladies! so yesterday I was pressed for time and didnt make it to 700 calories, but I did complete 500calories which is still pretty good in my books. It's a long weekend and I'm determined not to let that ruin my diet and exercise so I will count my calories very closely so I don't mess up.
today I got a late start and can't get my workout in but I'll have a nice healthy shake for breakfast before I run out and run errands and hopefully get my workout in after.
Happy Saturday!0 -
Hello ladies, I wanted to give you all another quick check in. Yesterday my girlfriends and I spent the entire day sightseeing. We hit Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Blvd and a host of other locations. We ended the night by heading to a night club and got our dance on til the wee hours of the morning.
Despite not getting in to early this morning I was able to get in a great workout today. I ran 3.25 miles on the treadmill using hills program. Since I was running at an incline I didn't run as fast but I can definitely feel a difference in my legs. After the treadmill I finished the workout w/a quick 10 minute stationary bike ride.
My girlfriends and I are off to Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier today.
Hope everyone is doing well and I hope to check in w/you all tomorrow.0 -
way to go Choco! u never seize to amaze me.
Well today I got up, and really brought it! I did workout yesterday and I really wanted to make up for that and get today's workout so today I did 4 miles of walking dvd for about 500 calories and then 40mins of turbo sculpt for about 550 calories. GRAND TOTAL = 1050 CALS! wow never thought I would make it that far! but sure glad I did. plus it was rainy and I knew I wasn't going anywhere so what the heck!
i'm so happy i snapped back into it and I dont wanna talk too fast but if I stick to this I am sure I will make great progress by my birthday in July!0 -
hi ladies! happy memorial day! this morning i got up early and hit the pavement to cover 9 miles. it felt amazing, and only took me about 97 minutes. only 4 more miles to go until i'm at "half marathon" shape. next week i am going to take my "rest" week and only do 4-5 miles. burned over 1300 in my 97 minutes of running so i am ready for some amazing food for grilling! its going to be a fun day, and its finally sunny and decent weather! hope you all have a great day!
nola- way to go on burning soo many calories! you pushed yourself so hard, and you exceeded what you thought you could do! That is great! way to push yourself and earn those calories! you can keep this up! Just don't deprive yourself, but also watch what you are eating and I have no doubt you will make your goals by your birthday!
choco- way to beat the rooster and get up before dawn to get your workouts in to have a more guilty-free vacay! im not sure if i could be that hard core on vacation, especially that early, so i applaud you and am amazed with your determination! way to go girl!! have fun!
have a great memorial day weekend ladies! don't forget to reflect on those who have sacrificed their lives so that we can live ours with freedom!! its almost officially SUMMER! we can do this! hot sexy swimsuit, here we come!0 -
Happy Memorial Day ladies! My L.A. vacation has come to an end but I had an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING time. I must admit tha I'm exhausted from all the running we did. We were usually out of the hotel room by 9-10 am every morning so we could take in as many sites as possible. Saturday we hit Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier as well as did some shopping on Melrose Ave and the Beverly Center. We ended the night by hitting the roller skating rink. The roller rink was hosting an old school skate night so everyone had to be 25 and over to get in. They played all old school music and I loved it. Yesterday we took a tour of celebrity homes which was really cool. We weren't able to see everyone's house b/c of the amount of trees they have imported in order to keep the paparazzis out but it was fun nonetheless. Our flight departed LAX at 6:00 am so we had to be up and out by 3:30 - 4:00 am so i'm really tired plus TOM began yesterday.
Nola: I'm really really proud of you. You have been bringing it w/your exercise AND staying w/in your calories. You should be proud of yourself. Keep up the great work.
Dawna: You're so close to that half a marathon, I know you can accomplish this goal. I never knew frisbee was a sport you actually kept score on so I'm curious to know how someone scores a point.
Ladies I just want to thank you all for the continued support and encouragement. I know you all probably think i'm crazy for all the working out I did while on vacation but I had to continue the routine as much as possible b/c when I get off track it's sometimes very hard for me to get it back. You'll be happy to know that I did indulge as it relates to eating. Whatever I wanted to eat I did but attempted to keep it in moderation. I'm unsure if I gained any weight as a result of my indulging but in all honesty I'm not really worried about it. All my clothes continue to fit well and that's what really matters to me.0 -
choco: glad you were able to enjoy your vacation and I hope u are able to get some rest before starting the new work week. Glad you got to indulge and I'm sure if u were conscious aout your workouts and diet you should be in good shape when u get on the scale again.
dawna: 9 mile run? WOW! that is great! bet you got to enjoy some yummy food after that! good for you! hope u enjoyed your weekend as well.
This weekend was all about running errands that I usually have no time to deal with and try to get things done around the house but at the same time got some rest, got to watch movies and hang out. Today I wore a pair of shorts I haven't worn since summer of '07 (when my bf and I had just met) He's always asking me to wear shorts and I never felt confident enough (nor did any of my shorts fit) but today I decided to try them on for the hell of it and they actually fit. My legs still need some improvement but I felt I could pull them off, and my bf definately noticed and complimented me on them, a couple of times throughtout the day. :blushing:
So that felt great! not only getting complimented but feeling confident enough to wear shorts again! I still have a few I cannot fit into yet so when I fit into those then I'll know I'm at my goal weight.
I would also like to say Thanks to you ladies for not giving up on me. I know each time I messed up I was worried about letting you all down and that really has helped me bounce back and not give up completely.0 -
Good morning all! Due to the start of my TOM and the fact that my legs are killing me due to all the walking I did while in L.A I decided to take it light today and perhaps for the rest of the week. My girlfriends and I walked miles and miles each and everyday that we were in LA in order to take in as many sights as possible. I guess all that walking coupled w/the running on the treadmill at the hotel is the reason I'm sooooo sore today. I felt the soreness coming on Sunday but it really took effect yesterday and it's taking all the strength I have to do a light workout today. I decided to only complete 1 mile of the Leslie Sansone dvd.
Nola: Congrats on fitting into those shorts. Keep plugging away at it one day at a time. This is our year for all of us to attain all of the goals we have set for ourselves. We definitely will have those setbacks but we have to dust ourselves off and continue moving forward.0 -
hi ladies! wow i am worn out this morning! i could go back to bed for a few more hours. i tried napping yesterday in the mid-afternoon while my husband worked on homework, but i couldn't quite fall asleep. Tonight's workout is going to be pretty simple, I'm planning on doing a phase of ChaLean Extreme, and then get some things done around the house. I probably should have done what you did NOLA and use my long weekend to do things around the house that I usually don't have time to do. But, I wasted my day being lazy. haha! but, it felt soooo good! I was able to get caught up on my Dancing with the Stars fix. Weird, cause I usually don't get into the show, but I did this season for some reason. Ha, I rhymed.
Nola- so happy for you on being able to fit into those shorts! How awesome! and so great of your bf to compliment you and make you feel good!
Choco- rest it out girl!! you did a lot on your trip! you need some more rest girl, and i mean resting completely! resting allows your body to fully recover from hard exercise, and its ok to do that once a week. all the experts i've talked to on the subject strongly recommend and insist on a complete rest day at least once a week to help your body recover and to prevent injury. you've been working so hard non-stop, so don't forget that it is okay to rest. your body will thank you for it!0 -
Good morning everyone! I am so happy it's hump day b/c I don't have to work on Friday which means my weekend is rapidly approaching and I need it to get back on track. I'M SO TIRED AND SORE IT'S UNBELIEVABLE. I guess I really pushed my body this weekend b/c I can't recall feeling like this since beginning this lifestyle change. I will have to continue to take it light this week or else my body will give out on me so I decided to do A LOT of stretching this morning.
Dawna: I know you're absolutely right about resting the body but I get nervous that if I stop I'm going to lose my momentum and fall off completely. I know i'm being a bit unrational in my thinking but I've never gone this long w/working out consistently so I wanted to stay active so I don't lose my drive. I usually struggle the most when returning from vacation b/c I get in relaxed mode and then before I know it i'm making excuses as to why I can't exercise and why I should eat what I want. I guess I was soooo scared about going back there I over did it. I will take it light but don't know if I can truly not do anything. Thank you for the advice and support b/c I know you're right. I may need an intervention.....LOL.0 -
Good Morning ladies! hope you are all having a great day! I am glad that the ice cream is no longer in our home because I've been craving it lately. The thing is, I havent' been craving the sugar as much as the dairy part. So, I'm going to try to get more dairy in my diet, even though I really hate milk. but, I need the calcium especially with how much impact i am putting on my joints and bones by running so much. I think one way I can get my milk in is to make smoothies or protein shakes. I just can't stand the taste of milk plain, I won't even eat it with cereal. Its weird. But, I know my body needs it, and I have not been impressed with soy milk or almond milk or rice milk. So I just need to find more ways to use it. I don't think i'll have a problem, but I am glad that I can listen to my body and know what I need.
Tonight I am doing a short/timed run. Trying to get my speed up and get a few miles in. I also really want to do an Abs workout tonight. We'll see, usually by the time my run is over I'm starving. Once it finally warms up here I'm hoping to get my runs accomplished in the early morning. Right now its too darn cold to do that!
Choco-- I do know what you mean about feeling like you could lose the groove after vacation. I typically work so much harder while on vacation to get exercises in and eat good food. I feel so much more aware because I know it could be the easiest time for a major slip-up and get out of the good habits I have. But, now that you're at home in your typical environment & schedule maybe it will be somewhat easier to feel okay taking a break.
Have a great day ladies! So glad we had Monday off here at work....makes the week so much shorter! YAHOO!0 -
hey ladies, just wanted to check in quickly. was out of the office all day and will try to follow up your posts later.
Last night my workout was very ****ty, I walked for 20mins and burned maybe 150 cals. I just didnt have any energy left in me what so ever. it was one of those days that it wud have payed off to give myself rest and be ready to take it on today but I tried to push myself and it didnt work. Hopefully today I'll get something done right. I already told my bf if it's raining outside and we can't go ride our bikes, we gotta do a p90x workout. I haven't done it in a year so I know I'll be pretty rusty. wish me luck!0 -
Ladies, I just want to thank you for your continued support on my weight loss journey. I had an absolute blast in L.A. and would definitely go back for another visit. The only downside was that we didn't get to take in all the sights but we did our best. We hit the ground running last Thursday. We were able to hangout by the Staples Center which was packed w/ppl since the Lakers were playing the Suns. We hit Rodeo Dr., Sunset Blvd and Melrose Ave. We were also able to check out the Kodak Theater (home of the academy awards), the walk of fame and Grauman Chinese Theater. We did a tour of celebrity homes and were able to see the homes of Aaron Spelling, Hugh Hefner, Tom Cruise, Dr. Phil and David Beckham. Now when I say see the homes I really mean see the streets and the gates and some of the house b/c a lot of the celebrities spend lots of money to ensure their privacy so there were alot of trees and things of that nature. Nonetheless the tour was exciting and my girlfriends and I had a great time. We hit the night club a couple of times and even went rollerskating. I had so much fun and it was exactly what I need. The only downside to that trip is that I'm so sore that I've not been able to continue w/my intense workout schedule.0

hi ladies! hope ya'll are having a great day! its been a busy one for me...i'm ready to go home! tonight my husband and i are playing in our Ultimate Frisbee league. I can't remember if I explained it, but it is a high intensity high cardio game. Its kind of like soccer, football and basketball mixed into one. Pretty much you run up and down the field, passing the frisbee to your teammates to score a point in the "end zone". If you drop the frisbee, or accidentally take a step with the frisbee (no traveling allowed with the frisbee) the frisbee drops to the ground and the other team picks it up and tries to score. So, its a lot of sprinting back and forth. Especially since a lot of the time you can't judge where your teammate could throw it, with wind and things, so a lot of sprinting and strategy and quick thinking are involved. But, I love it! Going to have a delicious dinner afterwards. I have found that it is actually very easy to make home-prepared and non-processed foods at home, especially with my "Menu". I usually use whatever I had for dinner as lunch leftovers for the next day. So tonight is a yummy homemade chicken cordon bleu pasta. My mouth is salivating just thinking about it.0

CHOCO: looking great in that pic girl. u must have been turning some heads in LA! go girl! also a lot of the times we need a vacation from our vacations cuz u get really tired from all the sight seeing, travelling, staying out, dancing, etc that u just need to give ur body some rest when u get back. dont be afraid to give ur body some time off to rest, sleep in, do light workouts like walking, stretching etc. don't worry u wont gain back anything as long as u watch ur food intake.
DAWNA: sounds like ur ultimate frisbee game is lots of fun. I would love to be involved with sports but I am so accident prone that I ALWAYS get hurt by the ball, fall and twist/scrape/ or hurt something. and I have no coordination lol. enjoy your yummy dinner cuz u certainly deserve it!
JOCELYN: booty sculpt? wow never heard of that. did u mean turbo sculpt (thats theone that came with my turbo jam DVD and I absolutely love it!)
As for me, I definately have been taking it easy this week. with a busy day at work I have no energy to come home and workout. I have been paying very close attention to my calories and not letting myself go over especially since I have not been exercising as much as I would like to. I ddid try walking on tues for about 20mins and wed I did ab ripper X (holy cow I am STILL sore! ouch!) but it felt great! I hope I can get lots of rest tonight so tomorrow I get up energized and ready to take on my workout!
Any plans for the weekend ladies?0 -

hi ladies. i'm so proud of everyone you ladies you all are working so hard. lately since i've been in ohio still. i've had the most frustrated weeks. i just can't get any hard core workout. i've been trying really hard, but i just can't seem to get anywhere. i'm just getting very frustrated. i'll figure out something, to get back to the nitty gritty.0

Thank you for the compliment Nola. I must admit I was feeling ULTRA SEXY while in L.A. unfortunately didn't meet any HOT guys....but had fun w/my girlies.
While my eating on vacation was ok (I definitely splurged) it has been horrid since I returned home. I didn't have any groceries upon my return which forced me to eat out and I'm not going to lie I didn't always make the best choices. I should be back on schedule come Monday. I told myself I wasn't going to weigh myself and get all up in arms about it b/c my clothes are still fitting well and anything that I may have put on will hopefully come off just as quick.0 -
Good evening everyone! I'm still taking it light so I completed a new dvd called Hip Hop dance mix. There are a variety of different dance moves in this workout that's suppose to shape up your body. You can create your own custom workout by choosing from any of the five dance options.
1. Hip Hop basics
2. Fat burning funk
3. Edgy grooves
4. Body re-mix
5. Cardio street heat
I decided to dance to the fat burning funk and cardio street heat workouts today. This wasn't my favorite dvd but it at least changed things up from my Leslie Sansone workout.
Nonetheless, today's workout is complete.0 -
Good morning! Today is the final day of my light workouts b/c I plan on bringing it beginning tomorrow. While my back is hurting a little still every other part of my body is cooperating so if I take it easy today I'm hopeful I'll be able to pick up w/P90X tomorrow. Since today is a light workout day I decided to go for a jog/run. This was the first time I've ever jogged/ran on the streets. Usually I'm on a treadmill or at a local park. Jogging/running on the streets is a lot harder than the treadmill or park b/c the pavement is so uneven. It is a warm day here in GA but there is a nice breeze so I was able to catch a good rhythm. Since I had never run outside before I didn't want to bite off more than I could chew so I took a fairly straightforward/easy route. When the workout was complete I had jogged/ran 2.22 miles in a total of 19.25 minutes. For all you joggers/runners out there how did I do? I have no idea if the distance I covered in that timeframe is considered slow, medium or fast paced. I'm thinking about completing a 5k at some point and would like to begin measuring my progress. Any feedback would be extremely helpful.0
