    Bump for inspiration!
  • I have lost 147 with 3 more to go. No surgery just lifting and cardio and proper nutrition. About 1 year and 9 months.

WOW what a difference, you look amazing!

  • I was watching a tv programme called Embarrassing Fat Bodies last week and a bariatric surgeon (in the UK) told the presenter that 35% of people who lose a substantial amount of weight via gastric surgery -- i.e. his own patients -- gain most of it back within two years.

This announcement FLOORED me! I always thought surgery was CERTAIN and would sort out someone for LIFE.

Not so, and therefore NOT WORTH THE RISK.

Couldn't agree more! My sister had a gastric bypass operation (in the UK) and lost an amazing 11 stone within a year. She's now back to eating all the junk that got her fat in the first place, and is slowly piling the weight back on. Not only that, she now has to have regular vitaimin D injections because the lack of vitaimin intake following her operation has affected her bones. SO not worth it, healthy living is the best way to lose weigh in my opinion, and the only way to change poor eating habits...

As of Friday, I'm down 170.
  • No surgery here! Just hard work and dedication; and I also have hypothyroid on top of all that!

Me!!! I lost the first 82 mainly through exercise and healthier food choices.

Joined MFP when I had 42 pounds til goal.

Still struggling with the last 20 or so... I know I have to get serious with the calorie control, but that has never been a strongpoint for me. :(

I did. I lost I think 130 after my doctor refused to allow me to have gastric bypass. he told me i was young and healthy and that i ought to try it by diet and exercise. he told me if it didn't work, then he would consider. i am glad he had faith in me because I found faith in myself.
This was probably 2010 when I didn't want to lose weight. I was so miserable inside.

this is me now. actually this is an old photo. i weigh less than this now, but i can't see the 10 lb. difference. lol

I've lost 125 lbs no surgery. All I've done is count my calories and worked out.

Yes, I did as well. Pics in profile and other posts. I have been stuck around the 105ish pounds lost for a few months but no real gain and just working on items to keep going. I still have around another 90 pounds to lose. I lost the 100+ pounds in just under a year.

I have also lost 100lbs (recently hit the big 1-0-0!!) without surgery (from 260-160). Yeah, it took me 6 years of ups and downs, but I made it. :D I really need to find my before pictures. :p

And here I thought the 70-80 pounds I want to lose was a lot! :-) I want you all to know that what you have done is absolutely AMAZING! You look great and you should be very proud of yourselves! This thread re-emphasizes the importance of healthy eating, exercise and determination in a major way. Love it!

I have lost 110 lbs with diet and exercise. Even more if you count my highest pregnancy weight (359) to my current weight (180). I ran my first marathon, lift weights, and still use MyFitnessPal. No gimmicks!
