porterbaby: I'm very sorry to hear that. exercise can be a good stress reliever but remember to eat healthy ok.

nothing new with me except that i got up early this morning and made myself a good breakfast and had a good lunch today. let's hope this holds me over until dinner and I don't get home s tarving before my workout. I brought some fruit as my pm snack but I've already eaten a cookie so I'll try to make it til 5.

hope everyone is having a good day.

    good afternoon!
I'm thoroughly looking forward to my lunch today. I packed a yummy BBQ chicken sandwich and a cesear salad from home. Its calling my name right now! Last night was beautiful so I went for an evening jog. Atlhough my tummy wasn't happy with me. Even though I waited 3 hours after eating dinner to take the jog, I felt sick when I got to the top of the hill. I'm committing myself to wake up early tomorrow and not give any excuses. I've been getting to bed early enough..its just when the alarm clock goes off I just want to snuggle for another hour with the hubby. I told him he has to push me out of bed tomorrow. Haha! Tonight I am going to do the Burn Intervals-- cardio mixed with endurance lifting. Its going to be awesome! I made a menu of food for the next 2 weeks so I avoid the urge to just want to "grab something quick". I've got my big bag of snacks for today...I'm really hungry for some reason. Its about time for lunch...so BBQ sandwich here I come!

    Have a great day ladies!

Good afternoon all, I feel so neglectful b/c I usually post first thing in the morning but this day has really gotten away from me. I woke up on time but decided to lay in the bed another 30 minutes which threw my entire morning routine off. Today is week 5 day 2 of the P90X program which means it's Plyometrics day. I had not done this workout since re-starting P90X because I wanted my knee to rest from all the Insanity jumping. The rest from all the jumping proved to be truly beneficial b/c I was able to rock out the Plyometrics dvd this morning. I completed the entire workout w/o modifying any of the moves......WooHoo :drinker: :drinker:

Porterbaby: Sorry to learn of your loss. This is definitely the time when family comes together to support one another. Hope you get all the support you need to get through this difficult time.

Nola: I also have a Leslie Sansone dvd I usually throw it in on a rest day or if i'm not feeling well but want to do some type of workout. It's amazing how quickly the time goes by.

Dawna: Thank you for such kind words. It feels good to be recognized for the hardwork and dedication. You're also a dedicated person so I have no doubt that you'll be able to complete your half marathon. I'm LA bound next Thursday and I can't wait. I'm sooooooo ready for a vacay plus I have seen my best girlfriends since they came down for the concert in March. Just to be in their presence and laugh will make everything alright. I go home (Boston) in July and I can't wait for that trip also. I haven't seen my family in almost a year and I miss them dearly.

hey ladies! had a great workout again to the leslie sansone dvd. I find that its not too drastic but definately feels like a workout especially since today I literally sat at my desk all day and didnt get a lot of breaks to walk around like i usually try to do.
I had sushi for dinner which i think is pretty good except I ate way later than I would have liked but I drank lots of water to wash it down quickly.

Choco: way to go on that plyo workout! I think that's one of the toughest workouts from p90x so getting through it without mods is awesome!

dawna: glad u are getting better weather, too bad u got sick. I hope u figure out what causes it so u can fully enjoy ur afternoon jogs.

It's hump day, It's hump day! Can you tell I'm excited it's mid week? I've been really tired these past two days and I'm not feeling that great today either. I'm not sure if my mind and body have already gone on vacation but I need to get it together b/c there's a full week before my friends and I leave for Los Angeles.

Anyway, today is week 5 day 3 of the P90X program which means it's back and bicep day. This was my first time completing this workout and it wasn't too bad. I still can't really do pull ups so i'm opting for the resistance bands. I can feel the pull in the back so i think I'm getting a good workout. I used 10 lb weights for every exercise that required dumbbells and I was able to feel the burn by the last 3 reps. I know I'll have to invest in 12 or 15 lbs soon enough b/c there are a few moves that I felt I could have rocked out w/heavier weights.

Nola: glad you got in another workout yesterday. I also have some bad news.....I will not be attending Essence festival this year. I made an executive decision not to attend b/c the airline flights have gone up and i'm tired of looking. I love my friend but the fact that she waited so long to give me the hotel information is making think this trip may not be as fun as my trip to San Diego last year. I'm now looking into spending that weekend w/my auntie out in PA. My auntis only 2 years older than me so we really enjoy ourselves when together. I wanted to thank you again for your assistance on tryin to make this trip a reality.

choco: that's too bad but i totally understand. I was really looking forward to meeting u and getting to hang out and maybe even through in some nice workouts! I know u wud kick my butt into gear. But I hope u enjoy all ur upcoming trips - sounds like so much fun! I am so jealous!

It's Thursday and just one day closer to the weekend. My body is still not cooperating b/c I really feel like I'm dragging in body and mind. I'm beginning to wonder if i'm overexerting myself in some form or fashion b/c I've been going strong w/these workouts since January and I've been working back in the office since February. While I am a morning person and much rather get the workout over and done w/it, I wonder if all these 5 am workouts are beginning to run their course. I'm going to try to stay w/this routine until next week since vacation starts then and there won't be a real routine. I just know something has to give b/c I'm not really feeling like myself and I don't like it.

Today is week 5 day 4 of the P90X program which means it's a YOGA day. If you've read any of my previous posts you know I don't do yoga so I switched it ups w/Insanity's Core Cardio and Balance dvd. Love this workout, it's short and to the point but definitely gets the job done.

I hope everyone has a great day and I'll try to check in a little later.

Nola: I'm disappointed that I wont be attending Essence and hangin out w/you too. I will definitely let you know if an opportunity presents itself for me to hit NO for a visit. Who knows if I'm lucky I might be able to cop tickets to see the Falcons take on the Saints during football season. I've never had the luxury of attending a professional football game and I'm absolutely dying to do so.

Dawna: I see you gettin sexy for the summer....rock out that new haircut ms. lady. Hope you enjoyed your Zumba class.

Good morning ladies! TGIF! This has been one of the longest weeks ever! I tried to remain active for the most part and eat better, but I think all the eating out last weekend caught up to me and last night when I weighed in I was up 4lbs. I was pissed but I needed a slap in the face to snap me back into it. I can't keep yo-yoing with my food and that's what usually messes me up. Eating. I used to binge and food has always been an issue for me. I was able to control that for a while by thinking before eating and distinguishing feelings of sadness, anger, anxiety, stress etc from being hungry. I have to snap myself out of this phase where I just wanna eat junk food to make myself feel better cuz after I just feel gross. I feel like I'm losing control and I'm losing this battle. I'm tired of starting over every week and then failing at the end. UGH!

I ordered the book Skinny Italian by Teresa Guidese (sp?) in the hopes of eating better and cooking healthier rather than eating out all the time. If you watch the show, she is a very hands on mom and cooks dinner for her family everyday and in the book she gives all the recipes AND all the nutrition info which to me is great! So wish me luck girls.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Good afternoon and happy Friday! This has been one heck of a week and I can't wait for it to end and the weekend to begin. I really hope I can return to my normal vibrant self soon. Once again I awoke w/no desire to get up and workout but I made myself. However, I wasn't able to complete the P90X Leg and Back routine b/c I had wasted too much time, so, I opted for a shorter (still a decent intensity) workout. I completed 36 minutes of the Cardio Mix and Melt dvd from the Melt It Off series.

Nola: Sorry to learn about the scale showing a 4 lb gain but I am glad you're taking responsibility for it. I think when you're able to take responsibility for your action you're more likely to succeed. It's a lot easier to make excuses for the issue than to tackle it head on. You've acknowledged that you're an emotional eater and that in the past you were able to find ways to distinguish emotion from actual hunger, you're going to have to go back to that place and take a long look at what's going on when you have those moments of not caring. Lately, I've been feeling like not working out and eating whatever but I've been pushing through it in hopes the emotion/feeling will pass. It hasn't thus far but i'm hopeful it will sooner than later. At this point I've been trying to convince myself to hang in there until next week b/c that's when I go on vacation. While I do plan on exercising while in LA (workout clothes and sneakers are already packed) I also plan to eat what I want. I hope to not overindulge but I don't want to look back on the vacation and say I coulda, shoulda, woulda. I really hope you're able to get back on track b/c I don't want you in that coulda, shoulda, woulda point later in the year.

WE CAN DO THIS! IT'S A LIFESTYLE CHANGE SO WE WILL DEFINITELY COME ACROSS OBSTACLES BUT IF WE STAY FOCUSED WE CAN OVERCOME IT ALL!

Happy Friday! I am excited for the weekend and really pumped for my run tomorrow. I am hoping and praying the weather is decent. As long as its not raining I'm fine. If its windy, well I'll have to deal with it-- wind storms are a typical event, and I have to just think it will only make me stronger with the wind resistence. Tomorrow I'm going to jog about 7 miles, the first week of training. Today is my rest day so that my body has full energy for tomorrow's run.

Choco- about your post yesterday...I think you are OK to give yourself a break. Its something I've learned throughout my fitness life is that when we run ourselves to the max every single day, we tend to start to fizzle out. Your body does need at least one complete rest day where you can rest and regain the energy you need for harder workouts. You have been working nonstop for the last 5 months hard. Even two rest days will help you regain the energy you need. And I'm sure your vacation will be amazing and help you regain some energy. Don't sacrifice fun on your vacation to get your workout in. Its great to get a workout in if you can, but enjoy your friends, enjoy the time off.

Nola-- Also sorry to hear about your loss. And like Choco said, I'm glad you're taking responsibility for it. Its very easy for our bodies to gain weight, but so hard to lose it. Which is why the yo-yo thing doesn't work very well. But, this is your journey, and you really have to have that inner desire. One thing that has helped me is to have some solid reasons why I want to make these changes. Looks and how we fit in our clothes can be a good reason, but sometimes it takes a little more to really get us adjusted to a lifestyle change. Something with more meaning, something that resides deep within us.

Any fun plans for the weekend ladies? Do you know of any good romantic comedies? My hubby has to study all night and I want to rent a movie that I can enjoy by myself. I have been watching episodes of Dancing with the Stars cause I love watching Nicole Scherzinger dance, but I'm all caught up. I think I'm going to make me some homemade salsa and watch a little chick flick. I don't like "raunchy" movies, or a lot of violence or harsh language, so no Rated R movies...but do ya'll know of any good romantic comedies? Could be recent, or older....I'm trying to find a good romantic movie I havent' seen before...

Thanks for your suppport ladies. I really needed that. I guess I am also feeling overwhelmed that it's summer time and I'm not able to go home and spend it with my family. so i am in robot mode just waiting for the time to pass me by. usually that helps with the workouts cuz i wanna kill time and destress and I do like working out and pushing myself but that darn food is difficult to control. i guess cuz in my family everything revolves around food and home cooked meals (we have an in house house keeper but my mom does all the cooking) going out to eat as a family etc, stress with work again. don't worry I will snap back cuz I know I'm strong. I bought some protein powder this week and can't wait to try it out. I'm hoping that some extra protein will really help me out somehow hahaha. I have not been getting as much as i shud in my meals so maybe thats why i never feel satisfied.

    Thanks again ladies.

Choco: I say just enjoy ur trip. i'm sure u are going to do a lot of walking during the day and dancing at night so don't even sweat the workout! eat a little of whatever u want but moderately of course. i hope u have lots of fun. and i agree 100% with dawna. listen to ur body and give urself a break when u need one.

dawna:: i love watching rom-coms. I have so many favorites i can't even remember half of them. I like ever after with drew barry more, my #1 classic is probably my best friend's wedding ummm the notebook always makes me cry too hahaha.

tonight we are supposed to go to a pub crawl and tomorrow we are supposed to have a bbq at my house for one of my friend's who's visiting from out of town.

Whatever u all do, hope u have a great weekend and hope u all have time to check in once in a while.

Good afternoon all! I decided to listen to my body today and not complete an intense workout. I had been dragging all week and my mood was not the best. Instead of completing the Kenpo X workout I decided to do the Leslie Sansone WATP dvd. I'm about to head out and complete some errands.

hello ladies! hope you are enjoying your Saturday! i woke up this morning a little disappointed that it was 40 degrees, and extremely windy. but i put on my brave face and warm under-armour and went on my 7.7 mile run. it was very very windy and the resistence was hard. i was just worried today about getting the miles in, but i couldn't help but think i would have been faster if i hadn't had such heavy winds. but it felt good after. i took about 25 minutes to stretch afterwards and i'm feeling great. at the beginning of the run i kept thinking "a Half Marathon is not going to happen"...and then around mile 7 i was thinking "i could really do a Half Marathon, I just know it". i'm still debating, but i'm going to train for it, and then in a few weeks register. it was a dang good calorie burn though...running for about 87 minutes straight, I burned just over 1000 calories. :noway: crazy, but so good  gonna eat some yummy healthy food today!! hope you all have a great weekend, I'm hoping to find Avatar so I can watch that with my hubby tonight!

Dawna: Absolutely great job w/your run....You get :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: for putting on the brave face and heading out there in the cold. When is the 1/2 marathon b/c I have no doubt that if you continue running like you do that you'll finish it w/no problem. How do you track the number of miles you run during each workout, is it a course that tells you, markers or just your heart rate monitor? How do you decide how many miles you're going to run each weekend?

Keep up the great work and enjoy eating (healthy) the 1000 calories you burned, you deserve it.

Good afternoon everyone! I have been logging in and completing my workouts late this weekend in a real attempt to catch up on my rest and relaxation. While I still feel a little drained I can tell the rest has helped especially as it relates to my mood. It's been a low key weekend and it will be short work week for me as my trip to LA is finally arriving this Thursday. I'm extremely excited although disappointed that the weather in LA will be 10-15 degrees cooler than GA weather. Nonetheless, I plan to enjoy myself to the fullest.

Since today is technically my rest day I decided to take it light. I headed to the park in an attempt to jog another 2+ miles but because I waited so long to get out there the temperature was too brutal for my liking (80 degrees w/humidity) so I ran a mile and walked a mile. If I continue to try to run outside I will have to do it a lot earlier b/c I didn't like how I felt one bit.

Now I'm off to fold and iron clothes and then chill for the rest of the day.

u all have been doing great this weekend and I am so proud of you. Choco I know exactly what u mean about the weather outside - today was almost 90 degrees outside and what felt like 100% humidity! OMG I felt like I was going to die of heat stroke. I pushed myself and 50mins later I had completed about 4miles. now time to wash the car and run errands with the boo and I think tonight my friends and I are going to be a little silly and go watch the new shrek movie. hope its fun!

GREAT JOB w/getting your jog/run on despite the unbearable heat. You're much better than me b/c I wouldn't be able to do it. I don't like to be hot and absolutely hate sweating so i was sooooo not in my element out there. Seems like you earned the right to be silly w/your friends tonight after rocking out your workout. Keep it up.

Good morning and happy Monday all! Today is week 6 day 1 of the P90X program which means it's Chest, Shoulders and Triceps day. Last week was my first time completing this routine and I received my first injury (rug burn). I was better prepared this morning, I strapped on the knee pads and I used a yoga mat to ensure no rug burns this week. Looking like I was prepared for battle I pressed play and got busy. I still think having to complete all these push ups (slow motion 3 in 1, plange, floor fly, 2 twitch speed, side to side, 1 arm, clap/plyo and 1 arm balance push ups) in one day should be illegal but I didn't complain nearly as much as last week. I'm hopeful that my level of complaining will continue to decrease as my upper body strength increases

Hi ladies! This weekend was pretty good. Saturday turned out to be a rainy & cold day. It actually snowed for about 15 minutes or so. Pretty lame. So, I was happy I got my run in the morning when the sun was at least out. Sunday I rested, and just went for a leisurely walk. I had a lot of church meetings, and I felt like I was running around all day, so I'm sure there was some sort of working out involved compared to my usual working days at my desk. I have found a new passion and love for avacados. They are sooo yummy, and can be addicting. So, I can only buy one avo when I go to the store. I made some quacamole this weekend. I just ended up mashing some of my avacado with some of my husband's homemade fresh salsa and added some garlic powder. It was soooo yummy and helped me to quickly replenish the calories I burned in my run. Me & the hubby also decided on Saturday to rent Avatar. Holy cow, I really enjoyed that movie. It was really long, but it seemed to go by super fast.

Choco- in answer to your questions, my half marathon is August 28th. After my almost 8 mile run on Saturday, I feel confident I can train adequately for the Half Marathon. I track the miles I run using a sweet website that is similar to a Google map, but you can "draw" on the map and the site will automatically calculate the miles for you. Its www.mapmyrun.com
I love it, and I love running outside so its a good website for me to use to calculate my trails. I usually map out where I want to go before hand so I know how many miles I need. As far as deciding how many miles, I have set up a schedule to prevent injury, but yet a regimen hard enough to get me into marathon shape by the time of the race. I use my HRM to calculate my pace during the race, but the mapmyrun website helps me to map out my runs before I actually hit the pavement. Its nice cause I can adjust the route if I need additional miles.

Nola- how was Shrek? Glad to hear you pushed yourself to make the 4 miles. That is awesome! Way to set a goal and push hard to make it. So happy for you! Were you working out outside? Was it early in the morning if it was? I'm sure it was hard with that heat & humidity! Be careful about working out in extreme conditions...its a scary deal. Just don't want to hear about you passing out or anything while outside in the heat & pushing your body so hard.

    Good Morning ladies,
ya'll are doing great, I am so proud of you! you really make me push myself harder hearing about how great you're doing. I know this will take me longer than others, but slow and steady wins the race. I don't care if it takes 6 months to lose 6 lbs,, a loss is a loss and I gotta start somewhere.

    Have a great day ladies!

p.s. shrek was pretty good b ut I'm not sure I would recommend it in 3D as it didn't seem any different from regular movies and the extra cost was not worth it in my opinion.

Dawna: I h ave no doubt you will be able to complete your marathon successfully as you seem to be a great runner, with a great training plan I'm sure you'll do just great.

Choco: I don't have any upper strength either and the last time I did the shred I was happy with myself merely for doing 15 female pushups. hahaha. I shud be starting up p90x soon tho, so I'm sure I'll be cursing at Tony especially since he makes it look so easy!

Good morning all! Today is week 6 day 2 of the P90X program and the Plyometrics workout is COMPLETE! I really, really brought it this morning despite the fact that I didn't go to sleep until about 2 am and was up at 5 am to begin the work day. I'm sure the lack of sleep will catch up w/me at some point today. I had a nice recovery drink and a yummy cheese omlet and now I'm about to start getting dressed to head to work.

The countdown has begun, 2 days before departing for L.A......can you tell i'm excited (smile). I need a vacay so bad. Today after work I head straight to the nail salon so I can get a full set (acrylic nails) and a pedicure.

Nola: Slow and steady indeed wins the race but glad you got that booty back into gear. This weekend is the unofficial start of the summer and I want everyone looking and feeling fabulous. My abs don't look how I wish they would but I'm soo happy w/my progress that I wont complain. My abs may never look how I want them too and that's alright as long as I continue to bring it to the best of my ability. Great job ladies, keep it up!

hi ladies. seems like everyone is doing so good on their weight loss. while i was in kentucky, everyone on my dad's side of the family didn't reconized me. my brother upset me though in the furnael home, he told me to stop losing weight and snapped at me infront of people. but i got news for him i'm still going to keep on losing until i reach my goal. i'm still in ohio and i didn't bring exercise tapes so i've been using my bands, dancing to music and help mow grass with the push mower.

    thanks for checking in cheryl!

porterbaby: I'm glad u were able to find ways to stay active and not like ur time away from home set u back. don't worry about what others say, as long as you are still eating healthy and looking healthy, I say go for it!

as for me I have a challenge from another group to burn 700 calories per workout atleast 3x this week. I will definately start by trying that out today! not sure what the plan is just yet, but whatever my body feels like doing, I'll do it. I am thinking since the gym was not much fun yesterday I shud probably do a fun workout today like Turbo Jam which is what I really enjoy. Wish me luck@

hey ladies! not sure where everyone is but hope you're doing great.

Choco: I know you are about to go on your much awaited trip to LA. I hope you have lots of fun and take lots of pictures to show us.

Today I pushed myself to meet the High Heels & Fishnets goal of 700 calories.
    My workout consisted of:
    *Turbo Jam -20min workout
    *Turbo Jam - Turbo Sculpt
*Leslie Sansone - Walk the miles for 1.5miles

I had a healthy lunch and I believe some calories left over. Feels great!

Tomorrow I don't think I'll be able to workout but I will surely try to get moving throughout the day.
