How much are you deadlifting?
Replies

5'6.5 female, 127lbs
Work weight for my "heavy" sets is 185
Calculated ORM is 208 - but I don't believe I could pull it.
Haven't tested a ORM since last Jan. (which was 175 at the time).
Working on a program that will lead up to a ORM test: One month pulling sets of 5, one month pulling sets of 3, one month pulling sets of 2, and then a ORM test.
My ultimate goal is a 250lb deadlift.
ETA: I am in month two, so work sets are 3x3, then one lighter set of 8. Next I get to try to pull 190lb , and I am scared. Sometimes I wonder how I got myself in this position!0 -

Certainly no threats and not even sure why you would say that. The issue comes with your highjacking this thread, posting the video, and just continuing with this line of . . . not sure what to even call it. smh
You clearly are getting the attention you wanted though so my guess is that is exactly it. A bit of trolling and attention seeking? But I don't get it at all.
The serious lifters in here know what they're talking about. If you have any real interest in any of this, then I'd suggesting reading more and stop posting.
In truth, I hate to type, but there were responses, and, I felt it would be rude to fail to answer them - only problem was - there were a lot of responses from a small (but vocal) minority -but even with their views in the minority, they deserve to be answered, and even the minority (in this case, my vocal critics) is *sometimes* right.
ETA that I had made formatting errors -and apologise for any confusion: I think the format's correct now.
Minority? No-one has actually agreed with you on this thread!0 -
I thought we were going to get back to time travel...
It's never too late get back to that discussion.
If you know what I mean.
I see what you did there0 -

While the deadlift is only one lift, and doesn't measure all the body's strength, nonetheless, if uses probably more muscles than any other lift out there. So, if you had to compete for a physical job (or if, God forbid, you had to fight some crazy bloke who was attacking, robbing, or assaulting you), then ACTUAL strength (not what Mr. Wilkes might say) would be the important factor, would it not?
Of course. I want to compete. However, I want to be really strong in all areas too.(And, does it not make you feel better when you accomplish a real accomplishment of, say, actual strength? Can I be faulted for wanting to know my actual strengths and weaknesses?)
Getting stronger always makes me feel better, that's one of my main goals in life, to get as strong as possible.
It doesn't take away the fact that you can't use blocks to compare 2 different person's strengths. You mentioned real life strength such as for a job or assault. As an example, I remember someone mentioning before that they needed to be able to deadlift 250lbs for their job as a paramedic. People are heavy nowadays and if you're helping people live, it doesn't matter what gender, weight, height etc you are, you need to be able to help them. Same goes for defending yourself. You can't magically make somebody match you in size/stature to give yourself the best chances.
It just seems like you're using your height etc to defend your reasons for doing things a certain way. If you want to lift like that, that is more than fine. You're making yourself stronger and that's all that matters, your personal goals. It's when you start comparing it to others strength that's one issue, and it's almost like you're using height as a limiting factor. We have wilks etc to be realistic in terms of the way our bodies are different for lifts (gender, weight etc) but I still hate to use any of those as a limiting factor. Even with an equal wilks score, I would not like to assume I'm as strong as a person with bigger lifts. We're at the same level (beginner/advanced...) but not the same strength.0 -

I think it'll take more than a few forum posts to shatter any of his delusional fantasies, to be honest0 -

The original topic:I've got some questions for you. Are you male/female? Height/Weight? How much can you deadlift? I am currently f/5'6/200lbs and I'm deadlifting 90lbs. I want to lift heavier but how much heavier?0

I'm at 275 (4x6) with having it in my routine for about a month and half. Always had a really strong back and legs so I feel like the number is climbing pretty quickly even though its not exactly decent right now.....not sure if its a good newbie number for the lift or not. I'm calling myself a newbie but it was fixture in my strength training for football around 12 years ago so I'm claiming a clean slate starting out.0
