Lauren: I finally found the 5k I'm going to sign up for (probably today) for our 5k weekend. There are only two that I can find for the Twin Cities metro area; one is in St. Paul, which would be crazy and the other is just south of the metro. The only down side is that the south metro one says the course has "gently rolling hills." Yikes! It think it's on the path at a golf course. It's the Dakotah Fitness Turkey Trot.
Allison: Great job on the C25k. It's amazing how well the program works! You're doing fantastic. I didn't start running until I was right around 200 lbs. so I'm super impressed!0 -
Jess: I'm not as country as people seem to think I am, either. I mean, I listed to just about every kind of music (with the exceptions of hardcore rap, heavy metal and classical). But apparently having a horse means I am supremely hick or redneck. Oh, well, there are worse things we could be called!0

Random FYI: All the folic acid I've been taking (in my women's multivitamin) is making my hair and nails grow like crazy. Seriously. I have shaved my underarms more often in the last 2 months than I ever have in the rest of my entire life (like... combined). So, not that anyone cares, but I used to waffle back and forth on my opinion about multiviatmins and now I'm officially convinced that, yes, multivitamins are a good thing (even if taking them means I have to shave everything more often :grumble:).
Heather & Jess -- I used to be really independent, too. I lived by myself for years. I once stubbornly stood and held a door open for a guy for FOUR HOURS because I was holding it for him first yet he claimed (claims - he brought it up when I saw him this May for the first time in several years) he was holding it for me first. The only reason we stopped holding the door for each other is because the business closed for the night.
But oh boy I'm spoiled now. I think I can actually feel my muscles withering every time dh insists on carrying heavy bags of groceries into the house or opens my car door.0 -

Julie I love this story! That is so me!! He was an hour late so the stuff I started moving was like shoe boxes, bags of clothes piddly stuff!! He's calling me going "What are you doing" I'm moving stuff to the truck his reponse "Good God woman you are so stubborn and independent why can't you just let me help you!?" my response "hello!! I'm Jessica have you met me? I'm independent..sue me! My best friend and I moved almost our entire apartment OURSELF! Yeah that's right I didn't stutter"...he's one of "those" guys and I'm one of those independent stubborn don't ask for help girls. He was texting me today telling me how sore he was from moving stuff...I couldn't help but giggle! He doesn't know it but I took a picture of him outside loading up my washer and dryer. LOL I was shocked he came to do it!
Heather-People are quick to tag you as "country" if you even listen to country music...doesn't help that I wear boots and jeans often..go to country bars..and the list goes on! LOL0 -
Julie - As soon as I read your post about folic acid I had an "ah ha!" moment. I've been trying to figure out why hair/nails have been crazy the last week or so. TADA! I started taking vitamins from the girly doctor two weeks ago.0

Is this gonna happen if I take a mutli vitamin? Not looking forward to that!! Except I don't have to worry about the shaving the armpits thing! Had to get laser hair removal for medical purposes last year. YES!! :laugh:0 -
Hey Girls, Ryan had a fantastic day. Things went very well. I am happy now if we can keep it going. IT is going to work out.
Heather I am not sure if anyone knows my name, it is Sherry0 -

It just occurred to me today. I thought maybe it was because my hormones were all out of whack for a couple of weeks but it has continued even though I'm seemingly having a very normal cycle this go 'round.
I bite my nails, and I looked at them today and was like "WTF!? Didn't I JUST chew all those off?" That was right about the time I was taking my first prenatal vitamin which triggered the thought that I'm sure I was deficient in folic acid prior to starting to take the vitamins made for women (they just have more iron, calcium, and folic acid than regular multis) a couple months ago. So that triggered a quick Google search about hair/nail growth and voila! Folic acid. Duh.0 -
Momma - I am soo glad ryan had a great day today.
I am soo peeved...i wanted to hear on the prequal today...it is 3:30 and still nothing :sad:0 -
Deb - sorry you still haven't heard anything. How annoying!
Ladies - general question. Do you use heart rate monitors and, if so, which one do you use? I want to buy one this weekend (I think) and need some input!

HI IM HERE!!!!!
Momma- YAY FOR RYAN HAVING A GREAT DAY!
Julie/Tstout- yup, pregnant ladies tend to grow hair really fast (thanks to the vitamins) which usually leads to a massive haircut during the 3rd trimseter. I thought it was funny when I was told this, but sure enough right around my 3rd trimester I chopped about 8 inches off! lol
Jess- GREAT JOB ON YOUR 210!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOORAY!!!!!!!!!! I love that u are a country girl, uhm Im "colored" lol sorry I had to say it...and people still consider me a country girl cause I listen to country music, pick up trucks, and country bars.
Purple- way to plan things out! you'll be out of the 250s in no time
I was at 204.2 this monring so I had a 4lbs loss this week. Hoping to see something closer to onederland next week. Tomorrow Is the first weigh in for BL at the gym! Im nervous because I really need to buckle down and get a move on!

Check in
calories, over by 200 ( even wiht the exercise I did) I was @ my maintenance calories 1900ish
exercise, 30 day shred + Just dance ( with my 4 year old son) He wanted to dance to "who let the dogs out" while I wanted to dance to "eye of the tiger" or "fame" so I played/danced with him for about 25 minutes, before my family came over..I was all sweating (with the A.C. on) then I played the Wii resort for a while...
water, not really sure how much but I know it was more than 64 oz
challenge, 125% done!

Have a great evening/weekend!!!0 -
09.24.10
Cals: 1872 (goal 1500)
Exercise: yeah... about that...
Water: 13 cups so far
Proud: I let dh talk me into cookies (which were on sale & I had a coupon which meant they were really cheap which of course means I bought them earlier this week). They're the pre mixed scored into squares take & bake kind so I put 4 in the oven to bake (2 each) instead of making the whole package. Very smart move because oh. my. goodness. they were so good. So even though it would've been nice not to want them, it was nice I was smart enough to impose moderation in that way. Win?0 -
Total win Julie, Hooray for self-control and foresight!!0

Hello girls.. sorry I have been MIA. Been busy.. but you would think I would be use to it at this point.
I really have not been watching what I eat.. In fact my husband took me out to eat the other day at Jasmin Garden.. yep LOADED in sodium, then yesterday brought homemade tamales home. Yum.. any way.. I have not been drinking as much water as I should (leg and feet cramps) and I have had too much sodium.. So, my weight is actually up last and this week. So, I guess I will update my ticker and get my rear in gear. I really need to start MGD (making good decisions)
Took my daughter out to find some black heels for choir and to see if we could find a dress. We ended up getting two dresses, a light shawl and her shoes for 50.00. I was pretty happy about that!
I have a client/friend coming in this morning and then I need to get out in the yard and do some thinning of my day lilies, Iris, Move some fountain grass, clean up some flower beds, mow, weed eat.. yep.. fall work!
Tomorrow we are going on a fall colors motorcycle ride. I am looking forward to it! It has been cooling down into the 40's here at night so, since we are heading up into the mountains, it may be a brisk ride. Thank goodness for those leathers. I am hoping to get some good pics, if I do, I will share with you guys next week!
Working out of the home is not going to bad. I am needing to do a little more creative advertising to let people know where I am at and get them in the door. Finally got my new bus cards and some promo post cards in the mail yesterday and I am pretty happy with them!
Well, I better go get in the shower, I have to take my son to work, before my client comes!

Hello gals...soo excited..after beeing totally bummed last night cause no call on the prequal...we got an email this morning !!!!

HOpefully we will hear in the next few days if they accepted.
We also got where they will pay up to 3 months rent of our house here...So when it is done we can move and not have to worry about the 3 months we have left here !!!0 -

09.25.10
Cals: 2259 (goal 2321). 562 deficit. With3 beers and 2 big cookies.
Exercise: Ran 2 miles. Ellipticalled 2 miles. 15 mins strength
Water: I have 7 cups logged. It'll be higher before bed.
Proud: I damaged controlled with the best of them at the gym this evening. I seriously wanted beer tonight because I nearly panicked at the thought of the possibility of not drinking any for 9 months.
Edit: Challenge COMPLETE!0 -
Oh my word I am the only poster on Sunday? I hope that means everyone else is out in the beautiful weather getting some exercise!
check in:
cals: OK
water: 100
exercise: 30 min walk, 30 min elliptical, plus arm work
proud: I am officially in a 4X pant. I might be able to buy something at a normal store that has big sizes now!!! :bigsmile:0 -
Hey ladies!!! *waves*
I had a great weekend - some work, a LOT of relaxing, and an awesome "family" dinner tonight with lasagna, salad, desserts, plus some veggies and wine. :drinker: Ran 25 minutes with C25K week 7 day 2 and realized that both the machine AND MFP were underestimating my cals burned - bought a Polar F6 on Friday night and put it to good use today, banking exercise cals against dinner. I'm still under for the day and am only a little over on sodium.
I am heading out of town tomorrow for 4 days, so I think access to the internet (except on the iPhone) will be limited. I'm bringing lots and lots of snacks with me on the trip so I have some healthy options as well as my resistance band, workout clothes, and sneakers so I can work in some gym time in the mornings. Wish me luck - between airports and bus rides and fast food....there's a lot out of my control this week!0 -
Good morning Gals !!!!
Had such an awesome weekend!!! We got the contract back on the house yesterday they accepted all of our demands with a 1500 increase, but that it put us right where we wanted to be...We figured we got at least probably 10k in upgrades in this house. So we went up initilaed the contract yesterday so it is officall we will have our house in late spring. We are set to close like in april-may. They are buying us out of 3 months of our lease (or up to 3 months) so if it is done on schedule the we will have both houses for a few months...but they will pay for our rent so we just have to keep up some utilites maybe on both...we can't "offically" move until serena is out of school which is June...but we can move stuff back and forth
Next step i think is to go to the design center and pick everything out !! Which dh can't get off work till after october 12th, so won't really be till then.
Now on the eating end...not soo good...didn't really pay attention to any calories ate out alot and such...didn't exercise 1 bit all weekend....scale was not nice to me this morning like 4 1/2 lbs up I know alot of sodium...so hopeuflly i can flush all that out over the next few days and at least be back to 245 by friday....wanted to hit that 1/2 way mark this week, but that would mean getting back to 245 , then loosing 2 more
Getting back on track today!!0 -
Blue -- I did go outside (on my porch) and enjoy the weather (80* and pouring rain) yesterday. But no exercise happened (well, maybe rocking chair action is exercise ). I was busy stuffing my face.
Purple -- Have fun on your trip!
Deb -- Yay on the house!! I'm so excited for you!
So yesterday I stuffed my face like a big fat pig. But I held myself accountable and logged it all and I was about 350 over what I think is maintenance for me. I plan to pay that back at the gym tonight but of course I'm annoyed that I didn't have more self control, especially since I weighed 192.2 after breakfast and coffee yesterday so I'm pretty sure I would've showed a loss today if I had eaten healthy foods instead of crap. I didn't weigh myself this morning but I could barely get my rings on (and they have been really loose lately) I'm so bloated from all the sodium.
Today will be good so I'm not really worried about it. I just wish after nearly 13 months I wouldn't want to pig out like that. I guess instead of focusing on that, I should recognize the fact that my pig out days now are better/more healthy than a regular day 13 months ago.0 -
Julie - I am with you with the pigging out this weekend, except i didn't log any of mine  But i am with you that a few pig out days is soo much different than i would eat like this everday...I am soo okay with pigging out a few days, but knowing i have to not do that everyday...0
-
Good to see you Blue!!! I hope you got some rest yesterday.
Deb, YAY on the house how exciting........
Well, I won't be going out to enjoy the weather today. 101* today in our area. That is a common temp in July and August but not too common at the the end of Sept. I think the record for today is like 102*. Our averages this time of year are in the low 80's. So I will be staying in today. Good thing I have my Leslie Sansone Walk yourself slim dvd.
I am off to a good start so we will see how this week goes.0 -
I'm with Julie and Deb on pigging out! Had a birthday party Saturday night. I made a promise not to drink and I forgot to eat dinner so instead I stuffed my face with sausage balls dip and 1 piece of cake. It wasn't a pretty day/night. BUT I'm ready to be disciplined till at least my sisters wedding. I'm making the commitment today to get better about tracking. I usually don't track Fri-Sunday..that's almost half the week. I can't be doing this.
I'm starting Insanity tonight. Doing my FIT test. Was going to do it this morning but I was unsure how long it would take and I didn't want to be rushed so I'm doing it tonight! I'm excited! Need to have my before pictures and measurements taken as well!
Hope everybody had a fab weekend.
Deb-Congrats on the house!! That's fantastic!!!!
Julie-Your night on the rocking chair sounds amazing!! I have been looking for a hammock to put u at my parents house. It's so relaxing to sit outside, especially when it's raining.
Blue-Hope you adjust to the new hectic schedule soon.
Momma-Have a great workout. I know you are going to make this week a great week for you!0 -
Nice to see you girls ( Colorado and Blue) miss you around
Deb, so happy for you! We were planning on building a home too, a while back, but that would cost us 400+ and, well, that is not in our budget. We also planned on selling our home, this past summer, however, my family didn't find a house as big as our townhouse. I love the townhome we are in. It;s a straigh through ( 3 bedroom and 2 1/2 bath) style ( which means walk in the front door and you walk into the living room, then the dinning room, then the kitchen, and last is the family room...when I stand in the living room I could see *straight thought* the family room) people alway assume, by looking outside, it's a small home. But it's pretty big and nice size rooms. So we are staying here until maybe we can find something we like in the future. Congrats to building your dream home
Julie, you are not alone...I ate way too much Sunday...even over my maintenance calories..those darn philly pretzels took a hold on me...I ate 5 by the end of the evening. So I feel so guilty to say I ate 3000+ calories, but I am going to work my *kitten* off to see 200 this week....We are back on track, right!
Momma, it was so unexpectedly hot here Wednesday, Thurday, and Friday.. and today is rainy and cool..go figure. No wonder people are getting sick around here.... Stay cool girl! and WTG on doing a walking dvd instead of walking in the heat :flowerforyou:0 -
Jess, GOod luck on your INSANTY fit test!!! You are awesome!!!
Purple, Have a fun and safe trip!!! miss ya!0 -
**SIGH** Back up to 208.6 this morning.
Bleh!
Anyway, my weekend was pretty good. My son went pee pee in the pottty 2 times! Hes not even 2yrs old yet and we are not actively trying to train him but since he has shown some interest in it I have offered to put him on the potty every once in awhile and he went! I was so surprised, happy and impressed! Woohoo! Hope to be done with diapers within the year! Bobby also surpised me by cleaning the house and doing laundry..oh and cooking dinner! Then he bought me lunch Sunday..which he never does! I usually pay for all our outtings because I make significantly more...so even though it was taco bell, lol and it was like $10 he made a point of paying for it and said he wanted to treat me, lol so it made me really happy that he took the little money he had and used it on me
Eating wise- Not so great...obviously! I gained 5lbs booo. At the biggest loser weigh in at the gym on Saturday their scale read 205.8. So my goal for next weigh in is 200lbs. A little ambitious yes...put Im shooting for the stars   My goal for the entire program is to end up at 185. (Also quite ambitious)
So I better get my butt into gear...like now!
Today Im doing Day 2 of WK 1- going to try to run at 5.5 again through the whole thing.
Tomorrow the plan is to do WK1D3
Wed and Thurs- Spin class
Frid- WK2D1
Weekend- RECOVER!
I am going to be tweaking my diet a little. Going back to my 1200 not eating excercise cals...and changing up some of my food choices. I am commiting to this 8 week BL program. I have several "parties" within these 8 weeks but I going to come up with a game plan prior to going to them. Tomorrow is my BFF's birthday and she wants to go out to dinner. So I better come up with a plan for that today!
Be back later to chat
Cris0 -
Deb- Congrats on your new house!!!
Momma- Im so sick of the heat too! It was like 90 on Friday, Its back down to upper 70's today but humid...ugh! Come on 50 weather!
Hi blue!!!
Julie- I am not craving cookies, thank you very much
Jess- hi! cant wait to hear about your insanity thingy!0
