people talking behind my back at the gym

I would say just ignore it. People that talk about other people don't have anything worth while going on in their lives. Keep up the great work! Sounds like you are motivated and working hard!0

Next time, exercise next to them..0

After my spin class my t-shirt is soaked, my shorts are sweaty, my face is red, hair dripping, even my fingernails sweat! I take 2 hand towels into class to wipe my face, neck, and arms. Yeah.....lose them bit**es.
^^THIS^^
I love working up a good sweat on the spin bike and really don't care what people think - sweating is the point! Have to say I go to the gym everyday and have a complete change of kit for each session, I don't wear anything unwashed because I do like a good sweat.
Anyway next time flex one of your hard won biceps or quads and let the nasty lady know you'd rather have a fit bod that smell like a bouquet.0 -
Is this woman who told you in middle school? She should have ignored it.
I'd go without deoderant to my next class and REALLY give them something to smell.0 -
Southern_Belle's response to bully at gym
"Oh darlin, bless your heart, that was so kind of you to get me new body wash, you've certainly saved me a trip to Target. In return, I'd like to buy you that real nice heavy duty toilet paper since you're being such an *kitten* and need to clean up all the **** coming out your hole!" Smily sweetly and walk away. :flowerforyou:

Unfreakingbelievable!!!! Cannot believe people are so catty that they will attack someone for doing what you are supposed to do! WOW!
I'm glad you took the free stuff and are taking it back to get what you want. You are AWESOME! Don't let the *****es deter you! You got this shiz!!!
I would definitely report them as well girl. This way the gym knows what they are pulling and you have it on record.
I love all the ideas about eating food that makes you stink worse to mess with them. Garlic may be one..but if you are like me and eat onion a lot!!! Well....don't wear deodorant and whew!!! Its gonna get stinky in there!! Get em girl!0 -
Fling some sweat on them... you know, "accidentally".

Make sure you give them a BIG HUG after they give you the stuff.
Why didn't that lady who told you-- talk to THEM??!! They are the ones who needed the talking too.
And yes, I would report them to the management0 -
It's awful that they are doing this, but if you are a stinky sweat-er, that does permeate a room quite quickly. It may be that your deodorant is failing you--it happens every now and then (just switch to another one). You can't do anything about the sweat, but you can do something about the smell. Sweat itself does not smell.
Just a quick edit--gyms and people do smell of course! If you give off a really strong offensive odor, however, and you can not get rid of it, consider telling your doctor about it. It may signal diabetes, hormone changes, liver disease, etc.0 -
I was working out at the gym today minding my own business when a lay comes in and asks to speak with me alone. She told me a bunch of the girls in spin class on Tuesday were making fun of me because i sweat a lot and smell like it after my work out. My response was duh!! They then went on to say they bought me a bunch of hygiene stuff. I take showers i can't really help it that i sweat a lot. I don't know am i being to sensitive? She said they were laughing at me as well. I feel like I'm in school again.
They're not working very hard if they come out of their workouts not smelling sweaty! Poor things. You should pity them.
Basically they're bullies. It's hard not to be sensitive. But try not to let it get to you. You must be doing something right for them to feel the need to be so catty! You might smell sweaty after your workouts, but they stink throughout the day.0 -
Take the free stuff. Next time while in class be sure to go in DRENCHED in the stinkiest perfume you can find. :laugh:0
-
Florida is crazy! People post **** like this from Florida all the time. (Well, I see if from Texas and Arizona, too. Must be the heat.)
Next time you see this lady, give her a big sweaty hug and thank her for her helpful advice. I promise, she'll give you a wide berth in the future. :laugh:0 -
I'm not so sure reporting them to management is the right thing to do, it seems so..... well high school really. Just as the one women coming to you and telling you what they said was also. I wonder what exactly one would want management to do. They're not going to kick out paying customers because they said something mean to you, and unless they just keep after you it is not really harassment.
I would just ignore them as I doubt that they will give you bath products directly, these types of people don't usually have the b@lls to speak to you directly. They would be more inclined to leave them anonymously, and in that case I sure wouldn't keep them (really do you think they are going to be expensive bath products, NO), I'd toss them in the trash where they would be sure to see how they wasted their money.
As someone else said it may be time for you to switch deodorants, they do tend to be less effective after a while. If you are going through any hormonal changes, that may make your perspiration smell stronger. In that case there are advanced clinical deodorants that are stronger.0 -

Btw. If I am not a sweaty, stinky hot mess at the end of the workout I am freaking mad at myself. Igbo there to sweat.
They are likely the girls there that do there hair and makeup in the morning before heading to the gym. Lol0 -
A few of my friends and I told a girl we knew the same thing when we were 15/16. We thought it was our 'duty'. Of course it wasn't and I still feel bad about it now.
Perhaps have a word with the manager of the gym about it... it's bullying, albeit of the passive-aggressive variety, and it's not acceptable.
Chin up honey, you're doing great. To hell with them.0 -
Get the free stuff.....then key their cars :devil:0
-
They did give me free stuff
What did they Say when they gave it to you. Geez.
I would Be giving them a copy of mean girls and heathers and tell them to grow the eff up. Or move up to Canada. We love sweat here. Lol .0 -
Maybe you should post a sign on the door "Odor causing sweat not allowed in this facility."
And then, bring a can of an annoying air freshener scent, something like strawberry cheesecake meadow, and spray it while everyone is in spin class. When any of them start to complain, spray it at them and say "hush!"
Before management escorts you out, you can explain why you did it.
Which, would lead you to find another gym that allows sweating.0 -
Next time run up to the girls and give them a nice big ole sweaty funky hug and say " great workout right? It must be exhausting runnig your mouths behind people's back".0
-
They are stupid. Who cares. Take the stuff and use it for good. Have the last laugh. I am sorry they did that. They need to grow up. Ifyou feel like it say something. Otherwise just remember stupidty is a disease.0
