Granted, I already eat an EXTREMELY clean diet (no gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, caffeine, alcohol, corn, refined sugar, nightshades, etc. etc.) and have been doing so for some time. When you cleanse it is a time to take a break and heal your body, to take a nap and relax, and ride out your emotions. I would recommend doing a two day juice fast at most, and if your diet isn't already dialed you will feel like CRAP, so try a transition day or two before hand and afterwords. Also, purchase a juicer or blender instead of purchasing cold pressed juices from a delivery service. This will be beneficial because 1) the juices are fresher and most likely less processed, and 2) you will save oodles of money. Also, take activated charcoal to help grab those free radicals that will be released.
Juice fasting is an enlightening and powerful cleansing experience, it is NOT a quick fix solution for weight lose. Please, Please, Please consider cutting out Gluten, Refined Sugar, caffeine, soy, eggs, and dairy before attempting this. It will alleviate any withdrawal symptoms you may experience (you will definitely experience symptoms).
Please note that I am not a certified dietician or a doctor, I just know what helps me... and juice fasting does.
I'll bet you're fun at parties.0 -

One thing I find interesting while reading posts on MFP and listening to other people in general, is how they support the placebo effect concept. Last semester we did some reading and research around the concept of the placebo effect as it pertains to nutrition and supplements. Typically the research was done with prescriptions, but basically the same concept applies with buzzword nutrition concepts and supplements.

It's a family of plant that some paleo advocates avoid. It includes potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, and many types of peppers.

EXACTLY! Such a fraud. Unless your kidneys or liver are failing your body is good at filtering and detoxing naturally.

The most entertaining study is a recent one that shows "more expensive" placebos are more effective than "cheaper" placebos. Basically, if people think they're getting a more expensive drug, the placebo effect is stronger than if they think they are getting a less expensive drug even though both are the same sugar pill.0 -

Your body naturally detoxes, buying a cleanse or detox won't do anything other than waste your money0

Altering my diet in a radical way drastically changed my life, seriously... As for the incoherent nonsense, I guess I should proof read.... Bottom line, I was just trying to help someone asking for advice, and this obviously isn't the forum.
Best of luck @mackenzierain, I hope you find what works for you0 -

You might have an ulcer... I agree about going to see a doctor. Not doing a juice cleanse as that might hurt you more than help.0 -

Ha, yeah I believe it. Similar to brand names versus generics. Something like Cheerios versus Oat Circles (in a plain white box), both of which are made by General Mills. Oh wait, they contain gluten so they are evil so don't eat those or you'll have to do a Cheerios-Detox later.

What?! Is this a forus to destroy people's goals? I haven't read a simple word of encouragement.
Do whatever you want, it is your money, time and you never gonna know how bad/good it is until you try it yourself.
I started juicing 2 weeks ago and I can tell the difference, I juice every morning and i feel great.
You should try it and see how it works for you.0 -

I tried it and it made me very hungry the rest pf the day. But OP isn't talking about replacing breakfast with juicing. She's talking about replacing everything with juicing which is not going to help her stomach issue and could even make it worse.
Should we blindly cosign every post that comes up on the forum, regardless of whether it could harm the poster?

I find that periodically juice fasting (smoothies, cold pressed juices, bone broth, bieler broth, and raw or lightly steamed vegetables) is a great way to get yourself back on track especially after a binge. Granted, I already eat an EXTREMELY clean diet (no gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, caffeine, alcohol, corn, refined sugar, nightshades, etc. etc.) and have been doing so for some time.
and then why if don't you just go back to your super clean way of eating?
Methinks if you weren't so restrictive- you wouldn't be binging.
No binging- no need for vapid cleanse.
But you know- I'm just one person- with zero change for my thoughts.0 -

Yes, take care, and see a good doctor! Perhaps you have some sort of food allergy or are lactose intolerant? You could do an elimination diet to see what you might be allergic to (Web MD link), but I'd do it after a full physical to ensure you don't have anything really problematic going on that could get bad quickly.0 -
@OP - I just finished a 10 day master cleanse followed by a 7 day juice fast as a means of transitioning into veganism from a predominately meat and dairy rich diet full of processed foods and McDonalds Bacon Mcdoubles 3 days a week. I rarely ate fruit and I detested vegetables. I Committed 20 days to ridding myself of my unhealthy eating habits and reprogramming my taste buds to enjoy plant rich whole foods.
A fast can be beneficial both physically and spiritually. Even though during the fast I craved the unhealthy foods I was eating before I would always envision myself eating vegan foods after. I started collecting recipes and thinking about the types of food I wanted to start making.
Being on the master cleanse really made me appreciate the flavors in the juices, smoothies and soups and being on the juice fast is making me really appreciate solid whole foods rich in whole grains, nuts, legumes fruits and vegetables and very little sodium, sugar and oil.
A fast, like everything else including what you are going to have for breakfast tomorrow, is a personal choice. If you decide to do it you definitely want online support from a forum for people who juice. I find the majority of people react to fasting much as they react to veganism. No meat and dairy? It must not possibly be healthy for you. But most vegans are really healthy. No solid food for a short temporary period of time? It can't possibly be healthy. Medical opinions vary from doctor to doctor. Doctors to me are like mechanics, it's hard to find one you can trust. Did I really need that surgery or did doc just need a new Mercedes Benz?
This is my experience of the medical system in the United States of America. I have a pain or illness. I tell my symptoms to, as well as get weighed and checked over by a nurse. The doctor comes in and prescribes me some pills. Usually ones I can't afford so I have to call him back and ask for a different prescription. Then either a) the drug chemically makes me feel better or placebo effect and I feel better. Life goes on. Or b) Medicine does not help because doc misdiagnosed my condition. He sends me off to a specialists who sends me for tests, who then prescribes me another pill and then the cycle repeats. In meantime a bill for $5,000 sit at my door. I avoid docs like the plague. Most of my illnesses can be ascribed to stress and diet and I don't need a $5,000 bill to tell me that. If I'm truly drop down on the floor suffering I will seek medical attention, as for everything else I tend to my own health and mending.
As for the fast, it's been a very positive experience for me. I feel really good and everyday onward is a culinary adventure and every trip to the grocery store is an exploration.
I started this MFP counter during my juice fast. Feel free to look at my diary prior to Feb 1st to see what I drank. Good luck and regardless of what you choose to do... I hope you feel better soon-5 -
Wowsas Jaqcui I just had a look at your diary. Did you lose much weight when all you were drinking was juice/soup?0
