@Gska17 Yes it is! The other night I only had 2 margaritas and I couldn't feel my face haha. And no matter how much food or water I have that night, the hangovers the next day are killer. I rarely had even mild ones when I was larger.1

I couldn't agree with the both of you anymore! My boyfriend and I went to a nice meal last weekend and split a bottle of wine. 2 glasses in and I was tipsy! The after dinner hot chocolate with some kahlua tasted like sheer alcohol, despite my boyfriend saying it didn't taste like it at all. I couldn't even drink it and I used to drink straight jack or multiple bottles of wine like it was no problem. I agree with putting the calories to better use! The chocolate fondue that night > the hot chocolate with kahlua.1 -
That food lasts so much longer. A box of triscuits used to last me days...now it lasts like a week and half!7

I say go shopping - and take an honest friend. I did this, intending to go shopping to buy things for her. But whilst there I tried things on too.
What I picked for myself was about my old size. It swamped me. After about an hour my friend told me off for not buying new clothes and wearing this that were now several sizes too big.
I went home with nothing - it took me a few days to get my head round 1. Being 3 sizes smaller and, 2. My friend telling me off like that (at the time it brought out my inner rebel!)
I slowly went back and brought some clothes that fit me now. She was so right. The clothes are so much cuter. And I feel so much better about myself when I wear them.
Sorry for the long reply about me OP - really I just wanted to say I understand why you would want to buy new clothes - I was there too - but I love my new (still can be improved) body so much more now I'm not hiding it under my old clothes. I hope you can do this for yourself too!2 -

I see a lot of people telling how they don't see their weight loss in the mirror. I am just starting out, and its the opposite for me. I can see my weight loss in the mirror but no else around me seems to notice it. Weird?5

I realized this weekend just how right all of these posts are! I was cold despite it being in the upper 80's yesterday, I discovered random bruises, I had to throw away quite a bit of junk food that went past the expiration date, I couldn't eat enough so to avoid the warning from MFP I ate some cheesecake, and finally I am started to feel so much more comfortable in my own skin!1

That your husband will not like the fact that your butt disappears along with the extra weight. (I'm telling him to be patient, I'm workin' on building it back up, but these things take time.)6

I don't think that's odd. I have lost 60 lbs (still have 100 to go) and not many have commented. Some days I don't think I look any skinnier, but other days I definitely notice.2 -

My grocery bill is much smaller now. For example, before I could polish off a container of cottage cheese in two days, now it takes me 4-5 days. I also stopped buying empty calories/no more gas station snack stops and save that money for something else like new workout clothes. I didn't anticipate that after losing over 70 pounds (with 30-50 more togo) that I would become a magnet for anyone to tell me their diet horror stories or excuses for why they are not losing weight.9

After losing 237lbs I definitely can relate to mostly everyone's stories here, I too feel cold much of the time specially my hands are always freezing!
Not noticing myself in pictures is one and also been totally obsessed with looking an studying my new image.
Been able to tie my shoes without taking them off then slipping them on.
Knees in bed who would have thought it would have been so uncomfortable and also your coccyx and how bad it can be to sit places for a long time.
Feeling like you are a kid again even though you're nearing 29, I am not smaller lighter then i was at secondary school.
Another thing is having no one from your past know you while out.
Guess there is bad sides too like loose skin constantly feeling you need to check calories on things, also fat brain just not catching up like I still try to find a bigger gap to park in so you can get out the door or when walking in the supermarket letting people through if the gaps smaller or you think it's too small.
After been at my highest I kinda became a recluse and shut myself off to the world but now wishing I had more friends now.

After losing 33 lbs. I've given away the clothes that are too big for me. Now, it's great to find pieces of clothing that I haven't worn in years that fit. I have lots of new found clothes to wear and don't need to waste money on buying anything, especially since I'm nowhere near my goal weight. The problem is that nothing matches anything. The pieces were bought at different times, for different purposes and don't fit together well. When I dress to go out, I look like someone who couldn't afford a decent outfit. Going shopping would just be a waste of money and I'm in a waiting game.4

How many people will offer compliments with a disclaimer at the end, like. "You look great, don't stop now!" Looking good- keep going!" What if I'm done??? What if I am not trying to keep losing? That's a big ego killer....
wow, I totally agree with this. Or they weirdly focus on how much more you have to do and not what you've accomplished. I've lost over 50 lbs, but it is still so disheartening to have doctors recommend to me that I lose weight. yeah, I'm working on it...

You will sometimes get annoyed or even angry when people offer you seconds or say you "deserve" a treat. I'm trying to lose weight! Extra calories means more work for me! Back off! (I'm still training my boyfriend about this).
Poor boyfriend, hope HE gets treats when he behaves and performs lol

Maybe. Or maybe you just know a lot of polite people who realize they shouldn't be commenting on other people's weight. I work in a hospital, so there are few boundaries, I know way too much about the coworkers, and few things are off limits. +1 here. (and congrats). I've heard them all. One former coworker who still does an odd shift, sees me and after calling me "Skinny minnie" no matter how many times I tell her not to (I hate that phrase, not looking to be skinny, just fit and healthy), will launch into how she can't lose weight. I used to ask her if she was doing anything about it - always a "too busy" answer. Now I just cut her off and tell her I'm not looking to hear all the negative stuff. I think if you don't want to do anything, fine, own that and be happy. If you are doing things and need support, I'm there for you.
Also realizing that I really have to stop making self-deprecating remarks about my weight, because I've lost enough, where people who didn't know me two years ago would think I'm just being annoying. We get new interns every year and it's weird to think these new ones didn't know the morbidly obese me.
Not letting it bother me when I don't get asked if I want to order takeout at work. I'd like to be asked, I usually wouldn't order, but at least let me decide for myself.
Not to get discouraged when the same bathing suit still fits - remember, they cling to you and have a lot of room to keep clinging.
That I get annoyed in my gym classes when the instructor moves about the room and gets between me and the mirror. I'm the one who normally runs to the last row, preferably behind a pillar.
That it's wonderful to find people doing and experiencing the same things. Loving this thread, check it every day.

What shocked me the most has been the scowls I get from some co-workers who say they want to lose weight but don't try to. And the comments that they make about my weight loss - you're too skinny now, you look sick, why are you still working out, etc. It's eye opening to see how un-supportive people can be when you actually make positive changes in your life.
THIS. I've run into SO much of this lately, and it's completely unbelievable... I had no idea I was going to run into this much anti-support when I first started losing weight. I guess it was naive and optimistic to think the people I knew would all be supportive of my success and hard work. *sigh*3 -
A few things:
I am super-sensitive to cold now.
Everyone wants your "secret" but then yawn when you tell them it's all about developing new habits, being consistent as possible, and not giving up when you are less than perfect.
You are treated differently - and I would like to think it is because my confidence has soared, but the jury is still out on that.
It is an amazing feeling to go dress shopping and be able to choose one because it is to your taste, not because it fits and covers up problem areas.
You could lose a good amount of weight and think no one has noticed, lose one pound more and the floodgates of compliments open. You will tire of them and feel ungrateful.
Dating -well that should be a whole other thread! I'm still learning!8 -
What's blown me away is the number of people who *don't* believe me when I tell them I'm down 84 pounds by portion control, mindful eating & exercise!
I've heard "surrrrre, you didn't have the surgery" more times than anyone should (& no, there's nothing wrong with weight loss surgery--it's just not what I did), & been directly called a liar when I said there were no "magic" pills involved. I always say it's just a combination of stubbornness & hard work.7 -

THIS. I am juggling all these odd bits and pieces after losing about 50 pounds. So I am reluctantly trying to wear some of the big things, lose faster to get into some of the smaller things, but realistically, I'm going to need to shop for those dreaded basic bits...probably in black again. Things I will also be getting rid of because I have lots more to lose. I keep checking out the ROSS and the Goodwill shops and they are picked clean or just not my style. Just to keep up with being presentable at work.1 -
Eninad, may be most cost-effective to have some things taken to the tailor and brought in... A sort of compromise between buying all new clothes and not liking the ones you have now?
