Yea and any pictures?
No pictures since none of it was exactly pretty. I had two cups of hot spiced cider, lunch was a cheesesteak and home-brewed birch beer (a Ren Faire staple) because lines were insane at some of the more exciting places, but I also had Irish nachos (potato chips/thin fries with cheddar, sour cream and chives). And then I ate an entire apple strudel with salted caramel ice cream.
Irish nachos...i could go for that, even if I did marry a Welsh guy.

I've been super on track all year except for the past 3 months I was in a play. It was all high-energy, dancing, jumping, lifting other dancers etc. It took ALL MY TIME. I was at work from 9-5 and play rehearsal from 6-10 every night. So, I decided the best way to get the calories and protein I needed was to eat a fast food hamburger every night before rehearsal (because I was too lazy to plan ahead and pack my own dinner!)
I easily maintained my weight for those 3 months even with all the junk I was eating thanks to the amount of movement the play required, but I immediately noticed the negative consequences following closing night.
I took a break and almost immediately slid right back into old habits of not counting my calories or doing any exercise. I told myself I deserved a break but it has just taught me that I can't give an inch or I'll take a mile (or ten).
Don't get me wrong, I had SO much fun taking part in the play. It definitely made me live outside my normal comfort zone and I made a TON of new friends. However, it's time to get my act back together. I'm back on track drinking tons of water and cutting out the fast food and am upping my daily activities and feeling more like myself.
Here's to constant vigilance and a reminder to myself that I LIKE being active! (Ugh, why is it so hard to remember that some mornings?)0 -

I started my weight loss journey heavier than the 252 I know the pain!! I am down 30lbs but I think I'm going to look for some sort of tummy wrap to help hold it in while I'm in the fitness classes... It is a pain.. Hopefully one day I will be down enough weight to also talk to my dr. about having the surgery to remove the skin..0 -

Constant vigilance. Not that I am practicing what I preach this week. Or even the last month. I vow to be back in the gym after the funeral tomorrow.

It's normal to fall off the wagon a bit. I've found I have to stop thinking of this as something I'm doing "until I get to goal" and rather something I'm teaching myself to do for the rest of my life, so it's okay to have an extra cookie now and then, but I can't go crazy because I now understand that's how all the unwanted weight got there in the first place. And it's totally not going to help me learn to arm balance in yoga.0 -

I totally agree with this. Its a lifestyle change. And when I have cheesecake, etc. its not an invitation to just eat everything under the sun. Gain a few...focus on losing it immediately. It creeps on fast, it falls off really slowly!0 -

Cheesecake makes everything better. One more day and then you can return to a more 'normal' situation. And hopefully move beyond the sadly lacking MIL.0 -

Anyway, I have to go out to lunch and bowling with co-workers today for "team building." I'm not looking forward to it...0 -

Sorry for your loss0 -
Sort of. I have to stay late for this as well (1 hour). I'd rather go home at my regular time.0 -

I hate having to stay later than my shift for work activities.0 -
Someone evil brought in girl scout cookies today. I've already eaten 50
-
The mint ones. In Canada (as far as I know) we only get mint ones in the fall, then in the spring it's a combo box with the vanilla & chocolate filled ones.
I realized I typed Girl Scouts, but I guess it's Girl Guides, right?0 -

I knew I could count on you POF!! It's funny how the thread is really slow for a few days and then it picks up for a few. I can tell when my Confession friends are busy IRL.

I hate team building. Just let me work. They made us have a team photo taken last week. It was for a retiring coworker or I would have told them to shove it.0 -

We survived the funeral. My boys and husband were pall bearers. I am proud of them. It's a hard thing to do as a teenager. It was.so strange. The MIL and the aunt decided they didn't want me to sing, so I didn't. Memaw will just have to haunt them for changing her funeral plan. I don't think it's worth the fight, personally.0

Just sing your song for Memaw without them! I remember my brothers being pall bearers for my grandmother's funeral when we were teens. Very tough.0 -
In other news, there was no cheesecake, but there were cheese grits and sweet potato casserole Comfort food for my Southern soul.0

I'll do it if it gets me out of the office! We had an "employee appreciation week" over the summer. We'll also have United Way week later this month. Not much work gets done at the office those weeks...
Of course, next week there's a Cricket tournament during one afternoon. Um, I don't even know the rules of Cricket. I suppose I'll pass...0 -

I'm on the "Social Committee" in my office (voluntold, not by choice) and I think it's kind of the worst. I don't mind organizing the Christmas hamper donations/Food Bank volunteer work and that sort of thing, because it benefits people, but most of the potlucks/lunches/activities just seem like...if people wanted to do that stuff they could do it without it being formally organized, I guess. I like my coworkers but I don't like them any better after being forced to play weird office games or whatever. Charity stuff is one thing but the random parties and games and stuff are not for me.0 -

Hi main thread! I'm about a million posts behind so zero chance of catching up, but thought I'd popover and see what's happening

Well not ALL of the county is on fire....
Our South gate at Smithville campus is totally eff'd. The whole area is on fire and we are JUST NOW being informed that some of our fire hydrants don't work.
Currently no buildings threatened but that may change.
Wind is picking up. Fire is 30-40% contained.
They are currently splitting the crew so half of them can get some sleep.
I am feeling all KINDS of anxious because there is a problem and I can not fix it and I just see EVERYTHING going wrong and the whole campus going up in flames and all of our research being lost.
I am like a ticking time bomb for cancer here. I am only waiting for WHEN I get cancer, not if given my genetic history. People like me NEED scientists doing studies and research. This is mucking up the whole thing.
I will not hold myself accountable for the grief bacon I may or may not consume while staying up all night and listening to the radio and watching my camera as the South gate to one of my campuses goes up in flames.
/temporarily end rant
I am safe. The campus has been evacuated(well everyone except the mice). My family is so close to the Bastrop Campus that they are on stand by for bringing in food and supplies for the officers to take as needed.
*kitten* we've just had an explosion! *kitten*!0
