Well, I actually did a couple of 10 day juice fasts in the past. I'm not trying to say it's something that most people should do. At the time, I was already doing well as far as my weight loss goes. I went from 238 to 184 and decided I wanted a challenge, so I tried a 10 day juice fast. It was actually really simple for me because I had already adapted to such a healthy lifestyle at that time (exercising almost every day, kept myself super active at work, and counted every calorie). I wouldn't do a juice fast as a way to lose weight. I felt a lot better after the 10 days were over and started a vegan diet afterwards. But, that's all in the past and I've totally messed up my diet since then (I did that juice fast like almost 3 years ago after all). I wouldn't recommend a juice fast and I won't say how much weight I lost after it was done. I think these kinds of things should only be done under doctor supervision and if a person has no other alternative to their weight loss issues.

Wow! Seemingly every time I come to the community to ask or comment, the negativity blows me away

What exactly is negative? People trying to help others avoid unnecessary and potentially dangerous endeavors like a detox or cleanse?

I've always found that arming people with solid information and helping them to understand that they can make this journey on their own without expensive gimmicks or dangerous routines is very positive. But I guess to each their own.

    This needs a bump.

Just had two more detox diet eejits block me on FB for asking exactly what toxins their miracle diets remove.

Funny how they can't answer a simple question. . .

There is nothing negative in telling people they don't need to torture themselves with a "detox' or 'cleanse' which will do absolutely nothing for them, and in fact may be harmful.

Negativity? So, telling someone that torturing themselves is negative? Maybe you should stick around and listen to those who have have a mass of experience and wealth of knowledge instead of being so quick to judge. What has been said here is caring...being negative would be to tell someone that they don't G.A.S and to go ahead with the torture. Why should mfp endorse a dangerous practice when it's not necessary? Some tend to get frustrated as they're so tired of those who go against excellent information which has to be repeated over and over again as no one bothers with the stickies, or don't do their research. People make it so hard on themselves when it doesn't have to be that way. No need for 'detoxes' or any stupid rule for weight loss. Eat less than you burn....simple.

I've seen negativity before in threads on MFP and online in general but I honestly think this one doesnt have any. Or I havent witnessed any? It seems just happily informative and really positive.
:( Perhaps you have this thread confused with another thread or something? No one here seems to be rude or anything at all, just trying to help. And the help is appreciated as I, for a moment, did think about doing a cleanse but steered away because of information here/from others :)!

Asking people to think about their potential actions is not negative. We are emotional beings who want to believe that there is an easy, better way to do the hard things.
