The Florida incident has had me very upset. My daughter happens to be gay and she tells me how many times people have been horrible to her and others she knows. Even her own father makes comments. She has had people physically attack her verbally abuse her. My daughter is not a small girl and puts many men to shame at the gym. She has always been able to protect herself. Her soon to be wife (yes gay marriage is legal in my state) is a tiny little petite girl. She is easy to bully. I guess I just don't understand the hatred people have for others. I live in fear for my daughter and her future wife.

    Thanks for letting me vent.

Anne - Vent all you like. (Hugs) :flowerforyou:

Penny - thanks for the pics. <3 I will always have your home deep in my heart, DH saw one blue whale, but the Orca team on board have had over 20 sightings of blue whales. What a job they do, out in the cold all day. They are passionate about their work.Every day they post their sightings . My favourites are the white beaked dolphins that follow the bow wave.

Tonight we had another dancing session. The resident pianist is very good and can play almost anything. Only a few of us get up for this late night dancing, but the gentlemen hosts are there, shepherding old ladies round the floor. I must say that in freestyle DH is a lot better than the gentlemen hosts. We danced past midnight.

    Tromso tomorrow.
    Love to all, Heather xxxxxxxxxx

Anne from Wisconsin. I am with you. I have family members that are gay, including (probably) my eight year old grandson. It breaks my heart that people hate! My mother's cousin was gay, had a long term "friend" but they could never show affection in public or live together way back then. I hope things are improving for the small minority that are born this way, into ALL cultures, and then things like that shake my hope for tolerance. I fear for my grandson - it seems that males are even more bullied than women. Although all are. All we can do is try to educate the misinformed, hope that religions stop preaching intolerance, and support those who are gay.

Penny - love the pictures. I sometimes wonder. Do you ever grow used to waking up and seeing such beauty just outside your windows?

:) If you are posting from a computer and have photos saved on that computer, it is very easy to post a photo (click on the icon that looks like a piece of paper with the corner folded over and then search your computer files for the picture you want).....if you are posting from your phone, then I have no idea how to do it.

Hi,I'm new to this site.Tomorrow is my birthday and I will be having a day of celebrations.Concerned about losing control with the eating part of it.I have been struggling since Christmas to get more weight of but not much luck.I have been staying the same weight so I guess you call that maintaining.I need to lose another 40 lbs. to reach my goal but finding it very hard.I walk 2 hours everyday and then some.I seem to have lost my getup and go,that could be what is causing this.Any thoughts on how I can get beyond this block.

Welcome! My birthday is tomorrow as well, so I feel we must be soul sisters. I've been struggling this year as well. I look back and I am down 12 lbs since the beginning of the year but that is just about 2 lbs per month and I'd like to lose more. Re suggested weight training and I agree with that suggestion. Muscle burns more calories than fat and you have the added bonus of feeling more trim. I've also recently started interval training meaning I walk on the treadmill at varying speeds and inclines which is supposed to make my heart stronger. But, I think the first thing is to just be honest with your food logging which is something I need to work on. Weigh and measure and log every bite. Oh and pay attention to those Non-Scale Victories (NSVs). Do your pants feel looser? Have you taken measurements? Sometimes you are losing inches even if you aren't losing pounds. Most importantly, keep coming back here. These ladies are a motivating group and they will have lots of good suggestions. Happy Birthday!

Heather, you posting of your gentlemen hosts reminds me of the one cruise we took. There was this little old lady, sounds funny to say that now, that was always dressed to the T's. She had the best seats and the BEST looking young man with her. He treated her like she was the most precious jewel. I finally asked a staff member and they said she was a very frequent cruiser. She hires through a gentlemen escort service, no not that kind, but these hunks that don't have much money work for this service nd escort little old ladies on cruises and other vacations and treat them like they are the queen. It becomes a lucrative career for them and they travel the world and meet rich old ladies. I am sure some of them make their way into women's wills.

We finally got out to eat tonight, went to Cracker Barrell. It was noisy enough in there that if he had passed some gas and other stuff, no one would have heard it.

Joyce, Indiana - … but, the smell might have had to been blamed on somebody’s turnips.

Having a family member who is gay and having had a gay couple as friends while at art school; I just cannot understand the pure evil of others who are not tolerate of something that, more likely than not, they’re born to be. Not enough known about it; but, it is not necessarily something you’re born with nor is it the environment you grow up it. … It is just; well, it is what it is; and, why do we have to feel like it is necessary to judge them (or anybody). The unnecessary death of “The Voice’s” Christine Grimmy (sp?) is also something that was totally stupid beyond belief. Also in Orlando, FL
Makes you wonder if you want to go out to anyplace ‘in public’. But, to NOT do so means that the ‘enemy’ wins.

We had 5 inches of rain last night. Glad I got the lawn mowed yesterday. Today edged our sidewalk best to do this after a major rain. Yesterday qualifies as this. We are looking into what to do with the old air conditioner now that we have the ductless system. We looked into putting a window into that space. The estimate was $2000. She we are still looking into what we will do.

    Prayers for Orlando.

Miriam hope you feel better soon.

    Hi gals,

Karen – a team effort would work…. Wish you were closer – I’d help!

Karen and Cherie – fun that you got to meet! Between you two and Heather and Penny --- I think I am getting jealous.

    Linda – cute kitties!!!

Rosie in So Cal - what an exciting event… on to the next chapters..

    Paula – welcome

Joyce in SD – great pic!

Casey – welcome – My grandmother lived in Oceanside years ago – she is gone now, but I have fond memories of that place.

Katiebug – Glad to be in good company, my mailman walks the route…

Michele – I love ice!!! Cute turtles!!!

Becca – you have only 2 jobs this month 1 take care of you, 2 take care of family…. You can keep up with us next month… just know we are here sending hugs good thoughts and love.

CJ – I am really curious about your long term goal to live out of suitcase permanently…. I love to travel but love my roots…. Are you wanting to be on the road all the time?

Lisabridwell – So first you are not too heavy for yoga – we each start somewhere! And there is a lot to read – I usually try to have a meal with everyone, as I live alone so breakfast or lunch is my usual choice, but like today – dinner is in the oven, the cleaning lady is here and I am sitting typing to you.

    Tamyena – welcome

Pip – hard to take it easy for you, but do the best you can, rest and ice is probably the best medicine.

Beth – great picture – I am convinced the more a mom complains the more they leave it the way it is.. my god son lets his hair get longer and longer – he’ll tell me it is driving him a bit nut but that his mom is losing a gasket! So he just waits until she offers to pay for the haircut, then another week or two and he’ll get an offer of a haircut and gas money – then he goes for it… and she still has not figured this out.

Anne – sending hugs - it is scary and seems so unfair – to hate for no reason.

    June Goals
1 fun thing a week, graduation, visiting with Vickie, working in Eden garden,
Log everyday to the best I can, over if need be.
    11,000 + steps everyday

Evening folks. Another lovely day in the Caribbean. Four dives today which really burns the calories. I eat like a horse when diving like this. Lol. Just can't keep eating like this after I get home.

    Greetings!
Linda/IA – I am just a couple hours north of Sioux City on I29. I’ve been to a couple conferences in Sioux City in past years and have enjoyed shopping there. A few years ago my husband and I drove to Sioux City on Easter to eat at a restaurant we enjoy. A few days later, we got a speeding ticket in the mail from the cameras they have posted along the interstate. Turned into a rather expensive meal out! Happy Birthday tomorrow!! Hope you have a fabulous day!

    Also Happy Birthday to stumplovingly!

Joyce – glad to hear you and Charlie were able to go out. Cracker Barrel and a good selection of food with several with lower calorie counts.

A couple years ago, I lost 30 pounds using MFP, but I since slowly put most of it back on. So I’m starting over and have about 70 to lose. Due to the heat, my exercise machines (treadmill, exercise bike, and weight machine) aren’t very accessible, so I need to figure something out because I know I can’t do this without moving more.

It’s late and I need to water the flowers on my desk before heading to bed. Wishing and praying for everyone whatever it is you need most.

    1056287i3zmwzup2m.gifStats for today:
    17,000 steps
    174 minutes of dog walking
66 minutes riding the exercise bike

t110001.gif It has been windy here and not at all like summer should be..the dogs don't mind the wind, but I skipped working in the yard in favor of indoor tasks.

:) Jake had his appointment with his primary care doctor to get her OK for his spine surgery...he some blood drawn for some tests and if they turn out OK, he'll be set for his surgery on June 29. He is very uncomfortable and spends a lot of time in the recliner so I've done almost all of the dog walking.

:)Joyce, how great that you and Charlie got to go out to Cracker Barrel for dinner

Thank you for all your kind words. I am so concerned as to the type of legacy we are leaving our children and grandchildren. At times like this, it is good to part of such a caring community.
I was not sore at all after the bike ride this morning. I picked up and swept all the branches and leaves that had come down onto my nice new patio (is this bragging) during the last week of rain and wind storms then picked up branches and twigs from the yard. After mowing about a quarter of the back lawn, I turned the mower over and cleaned out the deck and blade, let it cool, and then restarted it. My grass had grown quite high in the rain followed by two hot, sunny days. When I mowed this time, the mower began to leave gouges in the yard and was hard to push. I checked the wheels and all were tightly attached and clear of grass and thin branches or vines. I think that the blade has gotten out of alignment from hitting a rock that I was not aware of. I will have to take it into service tomorrow. Meanwhile, I have a geometric pop art lawn. Then it was on to PT for 2 hours for elbow, arm, knee and thigh work. OUCH. Now I am so tired and sore. The youngsters who run the place (hard to believe that they have doctorates in physical therapy, they look like teenagers to me) are sadists in disguise. >:)

Did 1 segment (about 10 min) of a Butt Lift DVD, held my plank for 2 min 50 sec, then about 50 min of the extremepump class. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Jeanette Jenkins Cardio Sculpt DVD

Dawn - one other thing I found, after I had been measuring my food, I was sort-of able to eyeball it. But I didn't constantly depend on eyeballing it, when I'd come home I go right back to measuring. It's just so easy (this is human nature) to continue to "enlarge" the portions

DrKatie - is your paper delivered in the early morning (when it's dark out)? Ours is, and I'm sure the reason the paperdelivery person put them on our mailbox is so that he/she can tell where the mailbox is in the dark/fog. Let me know what the people who have theirs in a brick column do.

Becca - don't worry one bit about commenting to each of us...we totally understand that it isn't easy at all. We love hearing your updates and am keeping praying

Lisa - I usually check in here a few times during the day and just keep an ongoing post. When I don't, I usually feel somewhat overwhelmed. But then again, there are times when I can't check in for a week or even a couple of days. That's when I usually skim and maybe make short comments to people

katla - good luck to you with the vinegar. Sure hope it works

tamyena - welcome to a great supportive group. I also love working out in the water. I just don't think I could do it more than once/week, I just get too bored too easily....lol

Lisa - that mirror is really lovely. You have such good taste

katla - I am not good at deciding what colors to paint the ceramic pieces. The idea for the colors for the worm came from someone else. She had made it those colors and I copied it. I usually find that I need to work from a picture, I'm just not good at picking out the colors. I did that once and to this day I'm disappointed in the outcome. Actually, Joyce gave me the idea of the red finernails on the turtles!

Exercised, then went to the Salvation Army. They had this lightweight (sometimes you need lightweight down here) 3-piece suit, (pants, jacket, and a skirt <which I'll probably never wear>). It was a petite size -- you don't find them very often. It must have been worn only once or twice. It does have the shoulder pads in it, but I know that I can cut them out. It was marked $7.49. I got it for...get this....99cents. Yes, you read right. Came home, got dinner ready, then went to senior bowling. Lousey day. came home, had dinner, then ceramics. Took my seaturtle to glaze the inside and put my name on it. Then worked some more on the wolf for Jess.

There was a lady who came to ceramics that had a kitten and was giving the rest away. Vince knew (I was at mahjongg by this time) so he called Jess. She really wants two of the kittens but her bf said "no". She was so upset, she said "oh, this isn't over"

Took some of the brookies to mahjongg. Even Vince said that the brownie part is more cakey than brownie-like. I looked at the recipe and it calls for 2 eggs, next time I think I'll make it with only 1 egg and see how that turns out.

Jess has a dentist appt tomorrow. We're trying to convince her to either switch to my dentist who has office hrs on some Fridays or else to continue with the dentist she has (the one Vince goes to) but to make the appt on a Monday so she can have a 3 day weekend.

Miriam - passing you a tissue

    Beth - good looking son

stumplovingly and Linda - happy birthday!

Anne - I have some friends who are trans. To me, they are the most wonderful people I know. I would much rather have a couple who truly loves each other and stays together thru thick and think who are trans than a straight couple who get divorced at the first little disagreement. When I asked Vince if he wanted to come with me when I went to see them, he said "no, that just isn't normal". I'm the Catholic and it doesn't bother me.

    barbie - prayers for Jake

I picked up my mermaid tonight. I'm posting a pic of it.

Linda- Happy Birthday! I hope you have fun celebrating!

Stumplovely - Happy Birthday! I would also suggest adding weight training. I do Stronglifts. I also recommend the Kettlebell because it can be done at home and burns 20 calories a minute compared to most aerobic exercises burning 8 calories per minute. Weight lifting specifically heavy ( what is heavy for you) also burns between 15-20 calories and there is the added benefit of the muscles doing what is called an after burn. They continue to burn calories hours after the workout is done.

Michele - the mermaid is gorgeous! How big is it?

    Have a great night everyone!

Michele, I am looking at that mermaids hands and in awe of how well you did her fingers! I was going to comment on your others. I really liked the belly of your little turtle. Looks like you could rub it and he would just curl up in your lap like a cat. HMMM, I have no idea why I said that.

Meg, so glad to see you again.

Well I think Charlie is back to his normal self. He can use the 'parachute pull' on the recliner in his man cave so maybe I won't have to watch Fox news all the time. Also he has found his cussing voice back. As a passenger driver I just have to tell him to zip it. I am driving and if I don't pull into a parking spot just the right way and have to back out and redo it, then it's my parking and not his. I drive my speed, I pull out into traffic my way....cautious. Just zip it Charlie! If he isn't careful I'll slip some of his Lortab into his food.
