Pip, I love all the dog pictures
Katla, good idea to save your wreath trip for better weather
Sasha walked happily in her new coat this morning for over an hour....temps are still below freezing and Tuesday's snow was still on the ground. I danced the whole dance class this morning, sitting down only during the break. My back still feels tired but is getting better. I see the Physical Therapist this afternoon and may come home with more exercises on top of the seven I already have.

Hi everyone. Thanks for all the welcomes and motivation on this page. I am amazed at how much I like it. I Never wanted to do this before with people I don't know but have been pleasantly surprised and have come back three days in a row. So thanks. Living in south Florida we are waiting for some of that cold air to make its way down here. Time to turn the a|c off. We had a record high of 87 this week. It is forecast to cool off tomorrow. Yeah! Have a fabulous day.

Hello, looking for new friends to share ideas and support. Add me if you would like to chat.2

Allie ~ When are you leaving? Hope you can find some peace in Fla.
DJ ~ Your trip sounds like great fun and so happy you have a friend to go cruising with. When you first mentioned the shots, all I could imagine were two older (young) ladies toddling around. Glad you clarified the size.
Lillian ~ Enjoy your weekend and hope the cold doesn't ruin it for you.
I went to see my mom today and she was having a good day...Praise the Lord. Her mind wanders so much that you cannot have a conversation with her but at least she wasn't crying a lot.

Well my friends up in Canada, we have your cold weather here in NC Texas. I stayed in my Jammie's and robe all day. Did make five batches of peanut brittle for gifts. Now I have to find something pretty to put them in.
Lois -good for you. Sending up prayers for your DH medical situation.
I always think I will remember all the posts I want to respond to but alas I usually forget who said what. Guess I am getting old, actually I am old!!
Making New Orleans style red beans and rice for dinner and they really smell good.

Hey now........
Looky, more snow!.....been snowing here all day, got about 5 inches so far....this is a look out my front door.....
The freakin' satellite TV tech who was supposed to show up this morning BAILED on me with no phone call, no text, no email.....called Dish Network and yelled at them briefly....they said the techs couldn't get out of Portland because of bad weather......bah! The traffic cams show clear roads.......they supposedly have four-wheel drive trucks but they can't drive on clear roads??????WTH?????......if I can drive my itty bitty lil' two-wheel 1,000 lb. car in 5 inches of snow they can dang well get their wimpy little fannies up here and hook up my TV dangit!!!! OK, rant over.....I feel better now.....lol.....
Oh yeah, I finally got a decent shot of Missy....sorry it's a little blurry.....here is my baby in all her fuzzy glory......

Carol - love the pic of your mom! She looks young, only mid to late 70's I would say.......definitely not 91....she looks great!...nice to see her smile......
Allie - I hope you get to go soon, you need a break sweetie.....
Lois - congrats on the weight loss!!....you go girl!...
Well, it's been about an hour since my last post and the snow is still coming down hard and steady....the two young boys that live with their mom here in the park are out with their saucers sliding down the street that comes down into the park......glad to see them having fun in it!....yesterday when I was in The Dalles I was in Fred Meyer's and saw the cutest pair of boots, now I wish I had bought them, the warmest thing I have is my new diabetic tennie runners with the orthotics and I don't think those will stay dry in now 6 inches of snow....so no walking today ......
The snow plows have been busy since this morning keeping everything moving right along here in town.....it's pretty easy to get around out here, they do a right fine job with the roads when it snows....I am also staying snug as a bug in a rug.....I am currently wearing my jammie shorts and a tank top, lol.......the furnace in here rocks!....and I have one electric heater going in the hallway since there are no furnace ducts in the hallway, lol....the winterizing is doing a fine job of keeping it warm in here.....
Well, I should go for now.....go see what leftovers I can heat up for dinner tonight and pick out a round of movies for tonight..........it's getting dark out now......will post more later, if I don't get too sleepy like the last two nights.....

Another session of physical therapy and three more exercises to add to my routine....I can do the routine with the TV on or an audio book or podcast so I can be entertained.....they all seem so simple and innocent but they target muscles that need work and the resulting soreness is immense....I have to remind myself that I promised to do everything I was told by the medical professionals so I'd recover completely from the surgery, but the challenge continues to grow.

Hey Delightful Dog Lovers! (and you Cat-Women, too!)
I wish I had more time to chat – but nothing going on today, anyway.
It’s COLD. Ok, cold is relative – it’s around 35 here – but this is TEXAS – that is cold for us. And I wish it would just SNOW and be done with it. It think if it is going to be this cold, the least it could do is be pretty and seasonally correct. Besides, tomorrow is Jammie Day – so I won’t mind if the roads are impassible.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Pip – Look at YOU burning a gazillion calories, a day. You ROCK.
Joyce – I have a few homemade “crafty” ornaments that I treasure, myself. One year, we sat down with beads and pins and Styrofoam balls... there were some interesting results – and a lot of great memories. I do hope you feel better, soon.
Lenora – I have never been able to manage a hoola hoop as an adult... maybe I will have to try it, again. The darned things just fall down – and I have hips and everything. I think I am hoola-hoop challenged. And, I WISH I could stay home when it rains... *sigh.*
Becca – Your son’s school reminds me of my own – although it was practically huge in comparison... my graduating class was 33. Aw... snow at the coast... so awesome.
Barbie – ((HUGS)) Thank you – yes, it felt a lot better than the picture looks. I am always better Live than in Memorex. So happy for you, dancing again!
Katla – Thanks, Sugar! ((Hugs!)) Sorry you couldn’t make the trip. Thinking good thoughts for soon!
Beth – Thanks! EEK – three Feet of snow is taking the whole “White Christmas” thing WAY over the top. So glad you are prepared for hibernation.
Margaret – My sister does one of those calendars for my Mom, every year. Guess I am going to have to provide some photos for her! I bet that could be considered an NSV.
Janet –
Sherry – Hurray for choices! And Hood River is a great little town, too. Perhaps you could even move your doctors and such to that area? It’s worth looking into, just to avoid the madness of Portland. Oh, Sweetie – snow scares the city folk... Hope they make it out before Spring. Missy looks like a love. I am such a cat person. (Hugs!)
Penny – Hope you get to go home, soon. Rain – ick.
Heather – I totally understand how you feel about the seasonal food. I went to our local Aldi, last night. It’s bad enough most of the time – you have to walk the gauntlet of candy, cookies and chips to get into the store, proper – but at this time of the year – every end-cap has sugared nuts, or more cookies, or cakes... it’s madness. I managed to get out of the store with only one nod to seasonal eating. They had some Cheese Stuffed Cherry Peppers... couldn’t resist and they went exceptionally well with the Moroccan Chicken Stew.
Allie – ((Hugs!!)) Girl, it makes me tired just reading about what you do, every day. I hope you get some real R&R in Florida. Poor Homer...
NYKaren – YUUUUUMMMMM... Broccoli is our friend...
Lisa – Same here... no proper fall at all this year. Hot Hooooot, COLD! Oh well, it’s only money. And this is TEXAS. If everyone who didn’t know how to drive in snow stayed home, the roads would be empty.
Lois – GRATZ!! I hope to follow you into Onderland, soon! I am thinking good thoughts for your Honey. ((Hugs!))
KJ – Hope you post pics of the Candy Cane Mice... I can’t quite picture that in my poor little addled mind.
Karen/VA – Thanks! And thank goodness the potato chips are gone. I have been studiously ignoring those cans of onion dip in the cupboard – but DH just HAD to have some the other night. *sighs* Oh well. Ah that scintillating garage cleaning... I could probably use an hour of that, myself... Alas, there are too many other things clamoring for my attention.
Rita – ((Hugs!!)) Hope Chewy’s eye gets better, soon.
Lillian – Brrrr. We freak out when it drops to 30 above, round these parts. I can never live in the North, again. My blood has thinned...
Carey – oh yes – I can log those as Jumping Jacks or something... lol. Keep those goggles on, Hon. Protect your eyes. ((Hugs!))
Charleen – The picture is really bad – but the sweater really does look awesome. It is SOOOO nice to look down and NOT see my belly sticking out past my girls.
Cheri – ((HUGS!!)) It will be over, soon, and you can get back to your normal routine.
Mary –
DJ – It sounds like you had a fabulous time! Nice to have you back, though. ((Hugs!!))
Meg – Walking in the cold is good, good, good for you! Not only do you get the burn from the walking – but your body has to burn calories to keep you warm. Walk on, Sister!
Pam – The cold will be along any minute... I ams fanning it in your direction.
Toni – Another reader... Of course, I never read anything too enriching... just flash and trash!
Eva – Love the puppy pics.
Carol/Peach – Hurray for a good day!
Sandra – Welcome. Pull up a keyboard and tell us about yourself.
SueBDew – I hear you on forgetting who said what. I have to have my e-mail up so I can respond as I go along...
Rori – Nice!

Curried Lentils with chicken, tonight... YUM.
Hugs for Everybody!

I don't know when I have felt this bad.Temp 103, ache all over, hurt so much when I cough. I have graduate from my leftover pads that I had in the house to wearing Charlie's leftover diapers.'''0

Lois... congratulations on the milestone!
DJ... glad you enjoyed your cruise!
Joyce... so sorry you're not feeling well. Get better soon!
So far the anticipated snow storm has stayed south of us ... only 3 inches so far but the worst of the storm is expected this evening so we'll see Three inches makes it look like Christmas ... that's enough for me!

Joyce - You are the nurse, but that sounds like a case for urgent medical attention to me.
Re - You are doing so brilliantly. Just think of that onion dip as "the spawn of the devil". Full of nasties that want to ruin your insides. Eat something healthy and delicious! Yesterday for my pm snack I had 100 gm of cottage cheese, with a spoonful of hot mixed Indian pickle on the top, with a crudités of carrot and cucumber. Oh yum! My husband's fruit cake did not look half as yummy. Even though I made it myself and he declares it the best ever.
If you do feel like reading something other than "flash and trash" do have a look at YOUNGER NEXT YEAR FOR WOMEN. It will confirm you in your resolve to keep on exercising like you do. When you read of all the amazing benefits of exercising you wonder why the whole world doesn't take up this amazing medicine. I am currently rereading the science chapters and find them mind boggling. No wonder I feel so good. My body and mind have changed out of all recognition from the sad state they were in four and a half years ago. I think I thought then that exercise was only to make you able to run and jump better, in fact, a stupid idea, but I now know that my whole life is transformed and I definitely feel better now than I did at 40. I am 67.
So, Re, if you ever feel like flagging, just imagine me cheering you on! People who do frequent, moderately hard exercise are the ones who keep the weight off, for ever, and who stay young. And the bonus is, we can eat more delicious, lovely food. Not slop and junk and poison, just lovely stuff.
Salmon tonight for me.

Morning Ladies~
I woke up at almost 4 am today.. well earlier because Tom came in and started barking at me because I didnt give Homer a pill out of the correct bottle, it was the right pill just out of the wrong bottle..
And of course on top of that Tom has a full blown cold, so that makes him even more ornery....
we leave around 3 am tomorrow am(Saterday) here is hoping it is smooth sailing and no weather or traffic mishaps.. will check in tonight quick but have to get up early so to bed early0 -
Good morning all
Going home today, been at DDs since Wed. She has an American friend staying who loves baking and makes regular and banana bread and the most wonderful choc chip cookies. It would have been rude not to try some wouldn't it? Who knows what damage has been done to weight as I didn't dare log
We did take the dog out for a walk but she is elderly and quite sedate so didn't walk too fast and it was only 2 miles.
Will get back to gym when I get home away from these temptations
DDs friend taught us a new card game Hand and Foot I'd never heard of it believe it's something like Canasta which I've never played either, the Grands joined in but she warned if ipads or phones came on the scene the game stopped and once it did and DGS had to say sorry. She is a teacher by the way

Morning, all...
Posted twice yesterday that I was back to home base, neither one actually showed up on the page. Weird. Roads were completely dry on the return trip.
It's 29 degrees outside this morning (-1.5 C), the pipes did NOT freeze, knock on wood... and it's slated to be 70 degrees (21 C) by Sunday. Typical West Texas winter--not that it's technically winter yet! And the season of fall in West Texas, as noted, lasts about five minutes. All the leaves go brown after the first freeze--which is in progress now--and some signal goes up a few days later saying "FALL!" and they all fall off the trees... No glorious colors.
I plan on a domestic goddess day today... The DH's new starter motor came in the mail yesterday for the new (to us) truck. This is good, as the one on it is iffier by the moment, so he's taking my pickup to work, forcing me to stay at home. Am devastated by that, can you tell?
After getting some sorely needed cleaning done, will be working on cutting out the logos on the shirts for the wall-hanging T-shirt quilt I've taken on. In between scissor sessions, I'll be quilting my own quilt that's been pieced for nearly two years, just waiting for me to get it put together. I'm a "quilt-as-you-go person," quilting each individual square, which saves a lot of the headache of trying to quilt a massive piece of fabric on a home machine.
This is what each individual square looks like. They'll be trimmed in black to make the colors really pop. After all are quilted, they will be put together in strips, then each strip joined one to the next, then the whole thing bound around the edges with a quilted strip of black fabric. I have some vague memory of putting up the board that showed them trimmed with white and then black here two years ago! Well, they've sat ever since, just waiting for me. Lots of work yet to do... but if I do it well enough, might actually try selling it rather than giving it away, which is what I've done with every other quilt I've ever made.
Love y'all!
Lisa in West Texas

Happy Friday
Looking forward to a do nothing much weekend, maybe stay in my pjs the whole 2 days, after I go to the gym both days of course!
Combating Winter time blues with green tea, lots of books and a nap or two, how exciting. Much better than overeating or medicating with carbs.
Peace, NYKAREN2 -
Hi there! I am a 56 year old former marathoner. I always struggled with weight and staying committed to fitness until my late 30s. I was in the shape of my life at age 40 and through that decade. Since turning 50 and getting involved in dog sports, that has slowly slipped away. I am determined to get my health and fitness back. Would love the help and support and to help and support others as well.
Today is a planned rest day for me.3 -
Welcome Ann, come back and visit so we can get to know you better. Yesterday was a Jammie day but I have to get out and move today. May have to go a big box store and walk around. Making banana nut bread to take to FL. Think I will follow Michele's advice and do a walking cd.

Hi Everyone!
Off to get shot in the back then SSI office to drop off papers.
Chewy' eye is better but he is still squinting.
Allie, sorry to hear about Homer ad DH issues. Isn't that always the way when getting ready for a trip? Hope you get a healing and much needed rest in FL.
Gotta go.
Ps. Love all the fur baby pics! I'm a sucker for animals.
