Saturday's Progress (4/8)

(B7, L18, D8, BBS261 = 293g)
✔2. Fiber 30g (51g)
✔3. Track/complete entry daily
✔4. Vegetables - big salad daily
5. Exercise - log 30 Fitbit minutes, 2 miles, 5000 steps. And the elliptical 5 days a week. (Tues, Thur)
6. No eating after 9pm.
7. In bed by midnight.
8. Declutter: Electronics, Craft Supplies, Pantry, ✔Fridge, Cooking and Baking, Dishes and Serving, ✔Linen Closet, Laundry Closet, ✔Medicine Cabinets, ✔Personal Care.
✔9. Digital Detox. Track daily timeouts.
• Fiber. Missed my big veggie salad yesterday - I'm out of salad fixings. I substituted a large bowl of steamed broccoli - about 2 cups steamed. I'm counting it as a big bowl of broccoli salad. And... I had Quest protein bar which packs a heavy wallop of fiber. Okay I had 2 of them. Fortunately, I'm not constipated today.
• Carbs. It. Was. Not. Pretty. But... it is what it is. I had finished eating for the day. It was 9pm. I suppose I wanted something else - I hadn't really eaten enough throughout the day. (Key point.)
I half-jokingly said to DH... why don't you run up to Sonic and get us some ice cream. He laughed and said nope - it's not on your diet. A little later he announced he had ordered pizza. (He had planned to make himself hot dogs. As he was watching baseball.) I was prepared to resist the pizza. I really was. I went to bed. Laying in bed I had an urge for a snack and I paused as I've been doing with some success recently. But... I caved. I started with - I'll just eat the toppings off a slice. Then I ate almost the whole slice - leaving some of the bread. But... he also had a pan of brownies and a cookie pizza. As I said. It wasn't pretty. I don't know why I did it. I told myself I hadn't eaten enough. It's just one day. I'll get back on track tomorrow. The quest bar was an emergency "Hail Mary" pass - hoping to feel full and properly "treated"... before diving into the chocolate chip cookie pizza and having a brownie. Then adding a few mini snickers and milky ways. DH buys those for DM90. And she loves them. I can usually resist them. Or have one or two without causing a landslide binge.
• Exercise. Didn't do it. Total steps 2,182.
• Digital Detox. Didn't do nearly enough time-outs. But I did do some. And I slept with Netflix.
Yesterday was a strange day. I felt off all day. Overwhelmed with tasks I "should" do. Frustrated with the sleep schedule here. Mine and DH's and actually DM's. I'm getting into bed before midnight - but not sleeping. Time for a talk with DH.
Today is Sunday. My day for reflection. To refocus myself. To plan my direction for the week. I'm forgiving myself and moving forward. I've felt both lazy and overwhelmed and incredibly proud and accomplished all at the same time this week. Very confusing. But... it's a balancing act and some areas of my life need more attention. (Sleep schedule!) So, I'll work on those this week.
I'll pop back later. Have a great day folks.

Aftenoon ladies.
Hugs Beth. You can only do what you can. And it that is what you do, you have done your best.
We have had quite a few yard sales in our days. They are fun and help get rid of stuff and things in your home. I have had really good ones and some mediocre ones. My sister and Mom would always join me. My sister would do nothing to prepare her items for sale and they wouldn't sell at all or people would try to get her down to a really low price. Mom knew how to price and how to bargain. She grew up during the depression and knew the value of a dollar. Mainly they are fun. You meet all sorts of new people. But the set up and clean up is the one part i hate the most. One time I went to a sale inside a house but no one lived there. I think it ws parents who had died and they were selling everything so that they didn't have to move it themselves. They had some one in every room to make sure no one came in and tried to steal. One thing I would always sell was ice cold water or soft drinks for $1. Made a lot of money off that. I also had a free box and as things didn't sell during the day, would add things to them. Several days ago some one said they bought racks from a store that had gone out of business. We used ladders with a pole set between them. I don't think I could ever do another one though. Just to much work for the money you make.
Easter baskets. Have meant to write this for several days. We did the typical baskets when our girls were little. As they grew, I did scavenger hunts through the house, some clues even outside. The final clue would end up where the basket was. When Michelle was younger than Christina and couldn't read, I would start her out with a colored shape which she had to find and the next colored shape would be there. When they were teenagers, I didn't hide things though but still gave them 'baskets'. But the basket would be something they could use. One year the 'basket' was a shower caddy for christina and for Michelle got a big CD case and I had the partitions in half of it and put something special in it.
I think I have told the 'old' ones in here about my sexual abuses. They don't bother me now. The only thing tthat bothered me about them when they happened, besides the fact I felt violated, was that I felt I couldn't talk about it. One man was a pillar in our state Southern Baptists and a very good friend to my parents and any other pastor I might feel I could talk to. The other was my Mom's uncle. The first one happened when I went up to Indianapolis to take my nursing state boards. I had my hotel reservations but it was going to be a long evening so my parents asked this couple if they could have me over that evening before i took my exams. When the man took me back to the hotel, he gave me a hug when I got to the hotel. Now I had many hugs by this guy through the years so that wasn't anything unusual for me. But them he wanted to keep me there and hands became groping. I held this in my heart for years. Southern Baptists had an annual offering in his name and on this one Sunday they were telling all the wonderful things this man had done in his years in Indiana and what good this offering would be. After church, I went in the church office, closed the door and told my pastor why it was so hard for me to listen to all of that. Throughout my years in that church, my preacher told me of other women who finally had the courage to do the same thing I did. They dropped that offering. my parents died never knowing of this. The other was Mom's brother. We would go tot their farm in southern Illinois and he would take us around their farm on his tractor. Of course the only place to ride at that time was the drivers lap. Years later when I told my sister, she said he groped her also. Mom never knew.
Had a wonderful time yesterday. Am paying for it today but that's OK. We got to this burger joint that Christina told her hubbie that she wanted to eat at for lunch and we got their 10 minutes earlier so we could get the table set up, the wheelchair all decorated and then meet her outside when they drove up. She had an inkling something was up for that auspicious occasion of a 40th birthday but didn't know what all it would be and that ehr sister was coming. I got some caution tape that said 'caution, having midlife crisis' and made a sash out of that, got a tiara that had a big 40 on it, black balloons tied on the wheel chair and was there to meet her. After dinner we jsut hung out at her house then had supper and came home. We left at 8 and got home at 10 PM. I had to do our pill keepers so finally got my mind settled down at midnight then up this morning for church.
We are going through a new plan for home and auto insurance after getting a non-renewal letters for both. Surprise, surprise!
big hugs all around, Joyce, Indiana

Chris in MA - Thank you for sharing your story. So proud of you for lifting yourself up. Way to go!. Yes, writing it down and having someone to share with does help. This is such a supportive group of women.
Off to work for a few hours - volunteering this time. Will check back in later.
Hope everyone has a great day.

After reading all about your art, and seeing some wonderful examples, thought I would show you some of the art m grand daughters did for their Moms birthday. Trinity is 15 and drew one panel and is till working on the other two which she will. Give later. Ellie is the creative one, you never know what she will come up with. She took one of their favorite pictures as a family, had it laminated and then drew it on a piece of cardboard that she had covered the entire back of it with duct tape. She then cut it all in pieces as a jigsaw puzzle and put it in a box she decorated with finger nail polish. She wrote a nice verse she made up. She then took another piece of cardboard and took the word mother and made a word for each letter . I hope they all show up on the pictures. Here goes

Lisa: I love your peacock painting. You have many talents & one of them is a way with words. I'm going to remember crapweasel. I hope you and Corey enjoy your adventure between jobs. :flowerforyou:
Carman from OK: Welcome!
Lanette: We have taken things to Goodwill, too. When we got our new refrigerator a couple of years ago we couldn't find a place to donate the old one and I was sad about that. The old one worked fine, but we wanted a larger one. :ohwell: The mattress we replaced recently was accepted by our local Habitat for Humanity group. They will sell it cheaply & someone will have a spot to sleep because of that. Walking shoes were a problem for me, too. I wear boat shoes, sandals or hiking boots most of the time. I have some dressy knee-high boots that get to come out of the box for fancier occasions. I love your inspirational message.
Beth: I am so sorry about your knee. I can understand anger and frustration. I have a bad knee, too. It is the final straw that led me to find this website and lose weight. Don't play the self-blame game. You are not at fault. My first resort in a situation like this is ICE or ACE--ibuprofen+ice+elevation or aspirin+ice+elevation. Take care of yourself. (((HUGS)))
abhamilton: Welcome!
Pip: I love your Airstream. Thanks for the interior photos. The second photo is full of great ideas.
Tomorrow is the first day of work on replacing the insulation under our house that was damaged/destroyed by raccoons. The access hatch to get under the hosue is in the floor of my pantry, so we have removed the contents of the shelf that is just above the hatch and tucked them away further back in the space under the stairs. We've been told the pest control company has a work crew of people of very short stature who fit into small spaces. I'll take photos if I can. I couldn't go under there without a claustrophobia panic attack and I'm grateful I don't have to try.

Pip - your Airstream is very nice! I see all the cushy spots where your pupsters will get to relax. Will you and Kirby get to bunk on the table? LOL. Sometimes at our house between 2 cats and the dog and DH, I'm left without a place to sit in the living room. Generally one of the cats gets bumped.
That checkerboard counter and little lampshade - so cute!
Hey Ginger, that snack devil grabbed me too the last couple nights - almost the exact same MO as what hit you! Today I decided to really take some time to outsmart him....he (evil twin of Little Debbie!) was trying his stuff after lunch (I had a light one - wasn't very hungry at noon). I quickly made a low-carb muffin, ate half while it was steamy and hot....YUM! Followed with a small apple and cup of tea. That sent the little rat back into his hole.
Wish I could get Katla's pest control here to take him out once and for all, but they don't do brain surgery. Best I can do is just try to retrain him I reckon. I'm going out for a walk in the sunshine.... it's around 60 right now and 80 in the greenhouse. Tomatoes are smiling.
Later super models!

Lenora - Denise did something like Trey did when she was about 3 or 4. She took a pack of gum and was eating it. When I found out, I took her right back to the store and the clerk said to me "that's OK" I would NOT take that, she had to give it back (even if all the store did was throw it out). Then I made her take all her allowance and give it to the Salvation Army. A few years later she was at a party and told me how this one boy had taken something and should she say something. Well, since his mother was there, I told her not to say anything. I didn't want her to get a reputation as a "snitch". But she still remembered what happened to her when she took that gum.

FourLynne - welcome. Tell us more about yourself. You'll get lots of encouragement here, that's for sure
Michele in NC
Thanks for the welcome, Michele. So, to share a bit more about myself. I am 54 years of age, and I am married. We have six grown children, and four grandchildren (all boys). We live in Maryland. I don't seem to ever have time for hobbies, so I have interests. If I had time, I would love to get back in touch with my creative side: writing, photography, drawing/art. I would also like to travel and see as many of the states, as possible. We have been to a few. As far as activity, my top three likes are walking/hiking, swimming and biking. Unfortunately, with my current knee issues, it has limited me. I have been overweight for many years, but its now starting to impact me from a physical standpoint. Knee surgery and knee problems and high blood pressure. I weigh 234lbs, but I would like to weigh 145-150lbs. So, its time ... past time for me to get my stuff together and get healthy.3 -

Hi everyone!!! I'm Diane - not quite 50 yet, but will be in August. I'm from Howell, Michigan. Long story short, I had been on a great run - lost 36 pounds...4 away from my goal. I had a bad break-up then a job loss. Right before Christmas, I started spiraling out of control. I've gained about 20 pounds back and I'm SO ANGRY with myself. I need to stop beating myself up and move forward. I need motivation and support. I just feel so BLAH about everything. My daughters (23 & 20) and I are going on a cruise the end of June for my birthday...that is my biggest motivation. I went swimsuit shopping last weekend and just about cried. ANYWAY...thanks for any support!!!! Oh...my goals for the rest of April: get off of the couch! Take my dog for a walk daily. Stop eating so much junk. Lose 3 pounds. :-)7
-
Hi Diane! A cruise is a great motivation, lol! I'm new to this thread too, but want to welcome you and encourage you. I remember a quote that might help you, "Don't look back, you're not going that way anymore." You got this!4

Love, love, LOVE that!!! Thanks!!!1 -
It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that Benny Beagle passed over the Rainbow Bridge at 2:50 today. Meg from Omaha3

Sorry to hear about your beloved pet. So sad.0

la8dl: Welcome to a great group, you sweet young thing. Best advice: 1. Stop in here often for support 2: Log every bite and swallow 3. Move more. It is best if exercise is fun because you'll want to do it because you enjoy it, not just because you should. :flowerforyou:
Meg: (((HUGS))) I'm so sorry about the loss of Benny Beagle. Our fur children are such a blessing in our lives.
We not only got the access area for going under the house cleared for the raccoon abatement crew that is coming tomorrow, we also got our Christmas Decorations moved back up into the garage attic. It has been a quietly productive day. I need to admit a little embarrassment that it took so long to get our Christmas boxes put away.

Penny Enjoy the grandkids! We'll be here when you get back!
Sarah Flood cleaning = LOTS of calories. Ugh.
Lisa Enjoy your Gramily time! Can't wait to see your paintings... Ooooh! I love that stained glass peacock painting! and Crapweasel - LOL!!!
Barbie That sounds like a perfect day. A lovely ballet of a day...
Carol/Peach I love Pomeranians. I used to have a Pomchi named Dusty who was the SMARTEST dog I have ever had. Well except maybe my Coton, Bailey. He's pretty smart.
Lanette The little shoes are made of felted wool. This is the first time she has made shoes. I love them. Now she is making a pair of Olivia shoes with the national flower of Corsica on them, to honor Olivia's father's heritage. I will post them once they are done.
Beth Sending healing thoughts for your knee. So sorry you are derailed by your knee.
Ginger First, it's really hard when there are lots of goodies around that aren't on your food plan. Second, you probably did set yourself up by not eating enough. Third, there are probably not too many of us here who haven't messed up. I know I have. Yesterday, as a matter of fact. Peppermint Patties at work. Ugh. and Fourth, maybe next time you could get up, brush your teeth again, and pop some sugarless gum in your mouth and then read a book for 15 minutes to give yourself some time to decide if you really want that pizza or whatever. Buy yourself a little time. Several people here have mentioned similar strategies that seem to work for them. My strategy is to freeze the leftover pizza right away. For some reason I am not tempted to get food out of the freezer. I know that is quirky. (((Hugs))) You've got this.
Katla So glad you are going to get the rest of the raccoon damage repaired. I know you will be glad to have that behind you.
Pip Love the Airstream. So nifty.
Diane, Carmen, Lynne Welcome! As Rori says, together we can do this!
Lynne I love that quote, "Don't look back, you're not going that way anymore."
Meg Oh, Meg, so sorry about sweet Benny. Breaks my heart. Sweet Doggy...
Here is a link to a nestcam of Olivia to cheer everyone's day. For the newbies, Olivia was born in early February and was very ill shortly after birth. She had cardiopulmonary arrest and multi-organ failure but through excellent medical care and her own indomitable spirit plus the love of her mom & dad, she is now thriving:

meg so sorry for your loss , Benny beagle such a good dog.

Joyce Do you have 2 different MFP accounts? An old one and a current one? If so, would you have signed up for the old MFP account on the iPad? Just a thought. Although it doesn't seem logical that your bookmark would be on both accounts...so never mind...I dunno. LOL! Anyway, I like the artwork. Talented kiddos.1

Karen in VA that is just the sweetest video. Loved it.
Also, Mia was taken off the oxygen Friday and is doing great.

Only a quick post. Got to Singapore and had a great time seeing the city. Very hot!!!! But hey, we're from TX so we did ok. Been on cruise for4 days and docking near DaNang where DH was stationed during the war. Will try to take pics with cell phone today.

Meg, I am so sorry about Benny. He brought so much joy to your life and you were such a great mom to him.1

Meg - So sad to see Benny has passed over the Rainbow Bridge. He was well loved and will stay in your heart forever.
Lovely afternoon in the glass studio today. I've decided it is time to try making goblets. The first attempt blew up in the glory hole. Gotta work on maintaining the right heat. This is going to be fun!
Mia in MI3 -
Did some thinking... Think it helps to write it out.
1. Reading a real book tonight to see if that helps with sleep. Putting devices in time-out.
2. Vowed to "just do it". I've slid back into an old habit of planning to do it - instead of just doing it. I'll work on just doing it. Like I've got new rugs for the kitchen to replace the ones with crumbling backs. I've had them for a couple of weeks. The hold up? I have this idea of getting on my hands and knees to give the kitchen floor and up close thorough cleaning before putting down the new rugs. Meh... I tossed the rugs today. And... glued the toe kick back in place. Another item on my to do list for a month or more. Why do I do that to myself? JUST DO IT. DO IT NOW.
3. I'm throwing out the feminine pads. I've had them for 10 years. Even had some ridiculous idea that they could be used for emergency 'stop the bleeding'. If there's that much blood... I'll use towels. Quicker and work not slow me down from calling 911. Geez.
Anyway... you get the idea. Quit overthinking and just "do". Take action. Any action.

Janetr Mia is off oxygen! Yippee!!
Ginger Love the journal...thank you so much for posting this, it is wonderful...the part about finishing each day reminds me of one of my Mom-isms...she used to say "Do everything in your power to get the outcome you want, and then let go of the outcome." I loved my mom.3 -
Janet OKC: I'm so happy to hear that Mia is off of oxygen and doing great. :flowerforyou:
