Hello All ~
I've left and come back several times here on MFP and I'm back once again.
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired and the largest person in the room. I want to wear cute clothes and look younger than my age. I'm 46 yrs old and most people think I'm older. Ok. So enough of that.
I'm looking forward to surrounding myself with positive people and people who completely understand the whole losing weight and being healthy thing.5 -
@135aj - I was intrigued by your profile picture, so I clicked on it to see a larger version and it's adorable. I'm pretty sure I have a unicorn in this hippo body too! This is a great group and I think you will like it here! So we have a challenge going that ends in a couple of weeks, so feel free to jump in on that, some of us find it helpful to have goals and be publicly accountable for them. You will not be reprimanded if you don't make it, you will be encouraged to just do your best and not give up, and certainly not to compare yourself to others. We all have our own personal journeys here and it's a great place to let your feelings out where it's understood and safe to do so. I think someone will post a new challenge that will take us through Memorial Day and then 4th of July and I'm looking forward to that! But if you aren't in to challenges, there is lots of friendship, tips and stuff here to enjoy. If you have a problem, likely someone has had it to and will be willing to offer suggestions. Feel free to offer yours as well. We absolutely want to outsmart our weight loss devils and more brains is a good way! All that to say Welcome! LOL1

Okay, lost a little this week and I've now erased the gain I experienced last week! I'm glad for that. Especially since my eating choices this past week haven't been all that great.
Even though I've been in what I guess is some kind of "spring slump" w/regard to my motivation lately, the successes, struggles, and personal insights shared on this thread by you all continue to inspire me.
Here's one minor success I can share: today will be three days in a row that I've gotten out and actually exercised. I even woke up early yesterday, donned head-to-toe spandex (EEK!) and attempted to JOG a bit. Nothing that ambitious is taking place today (long day here, even just so far, and I'm beat) but I am about to load up my double stroller w/both kiddos and take a short walk. Oh, and also this: rather than the night out at my favorite Tex-Mex joint that I'd been planning for dinner tonight, I've decided to stay in and make a much healthier meal. Little choices, nothing terribly earth-shattering, but my hope is that they will continue to add up.5 -

Wow. You folks are doing fabulous on your weight loss challenge. So motivating. If there is another challenge following I would like to join.
Keep working hard!2 -
I'm sure there will be, Karen!0

Another day down. Now it's been for consistent days of eating less, tracking and trying to get steps in. I didn't get them all in today but I did go for a walk to the grocery store to pick up another bottle of apple cinder vinager. So that is a plus.
My heart abandoned is great and really didn't want to join the gym without me, but I'm not willing to go at 7 or 8 at night. Working full time, dropping two very small kids off at school and then picking them up half the time and getting dinner on the table is enough for me. I don't want to pay $600 for the gym (2year membership) and then don't use it. I've been trying to go for long walks by myself to get in exercise. They are alwuick, easy and cheap!! I just need daylight and good weather. I'm glad that I live in the SF Bay Area.1 -
Thursday Truth ... trying hard to break my daily habit of spending too much time in front of the computer, sitting in my office chair. Yet ... I just realized that today would be no different if I didn't have an appointment to keep that I must get ready for. Hmmm ... maybe I need to make more appointments!
Have a great rest of the week everyone. Remember you have a plan ... now go work it!
PS ... I've read remarks about more challenges ... anyone wanting to start one for after the EarthDay Weight Challenge ends ... I recommend you start broadcasting for it now. Come on - be a leader!0 -

I have 4.5 pounds to lose to make my goal. Looks like that's not going to happen!
I can't complain as the scale continued to go down consistently every week, just not quite as fast as I had hoped it would.
I, for one, would love to keep the momentum going by starting another challenge but I can't commit to tracking the weekly stats for the group like @Nikion901 has been so great at doing. I will do the best I can, but no promises. Unless someone else wants to volunteer for that part?
By a vote, which would you like to do:
5 week Memorial Day Challenge from 4/24 to 5/29
10 week 4th of July Challenge from 4/24 to 7/3
OR both, a 5 week Memorial Day THEN a 5 week 4th of July
I guess it depends on whether you want to go a little shorter or longer than the 7 weeks we just did.
Of course, there is no obligation to partake in the challenge if you are not interested.
Until next time; wishing everyone Peace , Love and Weight Loss !!1 -
I vote for the 10 week one... I was going to propse that too. And it would coincide (almost) with Canada Day as well.
I am willing to track the stats unless someone else wants the job1 -
Longer challenge sounds great. I just joined and am still figuring things out!0
-
I do better on short range goals so I vote for two back to back, the third option please @RobinB0812 and I think since Helene has volunteered that is FABULOUS! We will be off and headed down the lovely path of getting healthy and stronger! Thank you ladies!
Welcome to the group @karenleona and @traceyc013. It's great to have you joining us!0 -
Thanks @RobinB0812 ... and @sand86802 for stepping forward to keep a challenge going. I take it, Robin, you mean to continue weighing in once a week as the challenge?
The current challenge ending next week will have an 8-week run. I think 10 weeks is good. Start Sunday, end Saturday?0 -
I think I would like to do a month by month challenge. We would take a little break after Earthday and then start a May challenge. Any body with me?0

Hi. I'm new to this thread. I can't find a lot of threads that I want to be involved in on MFP but this one I can relate to. I don't like the silly games that are always posted. I just need to lose weight! LOL Anyway, I look forward to getting acquainted with new people and getting/giving support in this life change.
Have a wonderful day!3 -
Thank you @RobinB0812 for organizing a new challenge! I like the idea of a 10 week challenge, but would be happy with whatever the group decides by vote count.1
-
I know I don't always chime in, but I have truly enjoyed being in a challenge. It has definitely made me think about what I am eating and has pushed me to exercise more. I would love to be involved in the next challenge - whatever it is!2

Sounds good to me! Who is in?0 -
I'm in with any challenge you all decide on, for me 10 weeks is good, but I don't really care. It has been a great incentive and I think everyone of us has benefited from being in the current one. Thanks @RobinB0812 for getting the ball rolling and to @sand86802 and /or @MermaidPrincessRach whichever one of you ends up recording the stats for us. I am going to add one more thing to my personal challenge, I think it will just be a number from 1 to 7 to show the number of days I was able to drink a predetermined amount of fluid! I am bad at getting anywhere near what I should of my daily fluid. Now I just have to try to come up with a reasonable number. I know it should be at least 64 oz. so even though I don't drink anywhere near that amount, I guess that's what I'll put as my goal. Maybe by the end of the 10 weeks I'll be able to hit it!
On another note, I rewarded myself for the first 30 pound lost by getting the speedometer for my bike. It tells me max speed, average speed, distance and time ridden as well as current speed and a few other things. I had to have a new front tire too, and I also got a water bottle holder and side mirror. I rode as soon as I got back with it and was happy to see that the speed I had guessed for past bike rides was pretty close! From now on I will know that I'm tracking accurately both speed and time wise.
I am amazed at the number of people that have already beat their goals in the challenge, way to go! For others struggling, I want you to know you are an inspiration to me that you are not giving in or giving up! Keep up the good work everyone, we still have 9 days left!1 -
Hi! I am in for this new challenge ... it really helps to share how we are doing and take accountability.
Thank you @MermaidPrincessRach for organizing and volunteering to track the data.
I am in process of relocating to Europe so the next months will be crazy for me, but later in the year I can help out with the new challenges.
Have a great rest of the week and keep the awesome work!1 -
@happygirlxxx If you dont mind me asking, where are you from and where in Europe are you going? I moved from France to Canada 6 years ago so I am curious1
-
@MermaidPrincessRach and everone else working on the next challenge, I am in for the 10 week challenge. It will be motivating to keep track every week. I am concerned the medications I'm now taking for CHF might be interfering with weight loss, but I will add in body measurements to see if those are changing.

I'm in on the new 10 week challenge. I hope this will keep me moving in the right direction.0
-
@sand86802 I don't mind ... I am originally from Ecuador, but moved a lot ... this is my 7th international relocation! I am currently in the US, but as mentioned not for much long ... this time my new "home" will be Italy for at least the next couple years ... then we will see where the wind takes me1
-
My thanks you those of you willing to coordinate the next challenge! I'm in, whatever the majority decides.1
-
I am definitely in for this 10 week challenge!! Let us know what day it will start. Many thanks!!0
-
Thanks ladies for arranging the next challenge. I will participate but I will set my goal weight for the end of May and then change it for the end of June. I will be doing a lot of traveling and vacationing during that time period and that makes it difficult for me to plan out my weight loss strategy. I could but I'm just not willing to put that much effort or planning into what I will eat when. That would make my travels stressful rather than relaxing, which is the whole point of them!
@happygirlxxx =Wow that's amazing, I'm so happy that you can be a woman of the world, that sounds so exciting! And @sand86802 wow to you too! I wish that I had been born in a time when women could just take off and go wherever they wanted and do whatever they wanted, without society having limiting expectations. I wasn't a rule breaker back then like I am now! LOL Happy travels to both of you! I do what I can now that I am a rule breaker! You can tell by my profile picture, I'm not your typical little old grandmother!
OH and welcome @marib670 -
Count me in, too!1
-
Current vote is 7-2 in favor of the 4th of July challenge (10 week).
@MermaidPrincessRach your template seems prefect to me. It has my vote.
Happy Easter, Passover, etc to all!
Until next time; wishing everyone Peace , Love and Weight Loss !!1
