Janet ~ I can see why you are upset. Your niece is being very pushy and should understand that being there for your gd's graduation is more important. Also, can't understand why your sis would not call or message.
DJ ~ So happy for you. We are so lucky that I don't think our only child would ever venture away.
Meg ~ Happy Birthday!

Janetr - (((HUG)))
dana - The ceramics we do are already made, we just have to paint them. I am not artistic enough to make something from scratch...lol Speaking of which, I always think about Sylvia and wonder how she's doing
orchidmother - I'm so sorry you're in such pain. We have a very good friend who has terrific back pain. He's on REALLY heavy duty meds. I really hope that trial works for you. when our friend takes his meds, he says he's "zombie Ken"
Renee - I stuff my stuffed cabbages, too. And I mean I really stuff them. One question, is there a trick to getting the rib out of the cabbage piece?
katla - I'm so glad the periods are gone, but the thing I don't like is the fact that it seems to take SO LONG to lose weight. And I have rolls of flab in places I never had it before
yvonne - I always look forward to your "happy xxx day" notes
DJ - when I go to ceramics tonight, I'm going to run the idea for the wedding gift by the gal who runs the ceramics place. See what she says. How wonderful that your dd is moving back!
Meg - happy birthday. Truly hope everything works out with the lawyer. You deserve a break
janetr - vent all you need to. Heaven knows, I've vented a lot about Pete's mom. I understand she asked Denise for Jess' phone number. No idea why she wanted it, I wonder if it has something to do with the bridal shower.
Heather - that was so nice of you to help those tourists out like you did. Congrats on the AF days!
Off to ceramics. My bee should be fired, but I won't post a pic until I have the antenna on.

Meg - Happy Birthday! Have a fun day Celebrating!
Janetr - I guess all I can say is that you missed their side of the conversation as far as why it was the niece that called you. I would just say sorry can't go. I think she does just really want you to be there.

Michele - Thanks for the hug. I too think very often of Syliva and wonder how she is. I do WISH we at least knew of her well being.
Thanks ladies for understanding and listening. I'm better now. I don't think my sisters really do it on purpose, they just don't think first sometimes. After all I'm the youngest and THEY are all getting OLD ha ha ha ha!!!!
Sorry couldn't resist.
Jack has worked hard in the yard all day, now he's sitting out on the covered patio with a big glass of iced tea, cooling off. Its warm out, 82 degrees, but at least there is a nice breeze.

Janet, I know if Dear Abby heard some of the I'll mannered actions of some of our family members she would sputter in horror! So your sisters haven't actually haven't done any invites, just your niece? That's odd to say the least. Well friend try not to think or assume more into it, just let it go. Some relatives don't realize how I'll mannered they are, but we do. Sorry you are stressed about it. Know that we all love ya!

Happy Monday. Why is it the weekends I am off fly by, But the weekends I work drag on? It was beautiful weather for our ride Saturday, When we got to Lincoln there were a couple hundred bikes. Even made it home Saturday evening in time for church. Then Sunday our granddaughter from Iowa was here for the night. She was on her way to Denver,CO for a summer intership. Really enjoyed the visit.
In the high 80’s again today. But refuse to turn the air on when next couple days to be in the 60’s. With a couple fans running not to bad in the house.
Lanette—I have a TENS unit and use it and I have good luck with it. Sure beats taking pills and after a couple days feel so much better.
Sue—Great NSV with the jeans.
Dana—Hugs! Sisters can be a PIA. I found out after my mom passed that my sister got her to change the will leaving everything to her. The 8 of the rest of us siblings got nothing. Still trying to deal with it as nothing I can do to change it.
Out of time for today so best sign off. Have a great evening. Blessings, Vicki Grand Island-NE

Becca, thanks you are right. I know the sisters meant no harm. And I AM disappointed that I won't be able to be there and see them all. I worry that it may not be many more times that we will be able to all get together again as my oldest sister turned 80 and is in poor health.
So here is a picture of my Mom when she was 16. She married my Dad a few months later.

Hay ladies. The wonderful southern Indiana sky is looking back at me through my beautiful windows. I have them open and totally enjoying the cool breeze. I have been having problems with my DirectV reciever box, it gets to hot and have to put a fan on it. If it gets really to hot, it completely shuts down until the temp gets below 50c, then it has to reset itself which takes a long time to do all the satellite recheck. We have had DirectV for quite a while. I called a couple of years ago to see if there was any upgrade I was due. I guess it's the person you talk to. She was going to offer me a sports pack. Not what I wanted. So I called today. first thing I did was call the tech department about the overheating. Their answer was to send me out a new receiver. Then I called the main line and asked about an upgrade. So I am getting a genie installed tomorrow. So I don't need the tech department sending me a new receiver. With the new one I can record 5 shows. I don't know how many of my favorite shows I have to choose from since I could only record 2. Problem solved. No charge for upgrade either in installing or monthly price or fees. Or so she said. So now I have to watch any shows I really wanted to watch before the current DVR receiver goes away. I had saved some shows just in case the grands may want to watch them.
OK, babbling Joyce in Indiana should just be quiet.2 -
Daily: Vitamin D3, cinnamon, blood pressure support, krill oil, alpha lipoic acid (for back pain), and one full strength aspirin. Going to be adding some Holy Basil soon for stress. I have to take a Vitamin B-12 shot every month, and I take three Valerian capsules when I feel panicky.1

DH and I enjoyed our outing today, sunshine was lovely. Some photos below, this is Crosby Beach on Merseyside, we call the figures on the beach 'The Iron Men' the correct name for the sculptures is 'Another Place'
Hope the figure doesn't offend anyone. If you google Another Place Antony Gormley it explains what he had in mind.

Michele – I wish there was but I don’t know of any. The last cabbage I bought had a really thick rib and it was too thick and tough IMHO but I looked at it as the opportunity to get more fiber in LOL! How long do you pre-boil the leaves before baking? Have fun at ceramics class.
Kate – I like the beach pictures (even the statue) – sounds like a lovely day.
Janetr – your mom was a real beauty! You probably have told your story already about your gastric bypass, but I’d love to hear more
Vicki – wow can’t believe your sister did that. That blows my mind!
Meg – Happy Birthday!! How old is DD#1? My DS#1 and #2 are the same exact way
DJ – Thanks for the tip, no I didn’t know that. I was like what is wrong with me, I can’t remember anything about who said what!!!
Becca – You rock! My goal is to get the house picked up enough to use the gift certificate I have for a cleaning service. I practically pre-clean before they come
Katla – how was yoga?
Regarding all of the talk on menopause and perimenopause I have no idea how close or far to those I am b/c I had an ablation done about 8 or 9 years ago. I hope I go through the change without being aware of it.
Off to take my stuff to Goodwill

Kate, what a beautiful day at the beach! And those sculptures - wow. I did google Gormley - there are 100 of those guys at 650 kilos each...I doubt many are stolen!
Thank you for sharing - and you look GREAT by the way! Did you say you were 49?

Good Evening My Dear Friends,
My Dear Daughter is home at last!!! I haven’t been able to stop hugging her and she is being patient with me. LOL She has let her hair go natural and it is such a beautiful color of grey. She just turned 46 and is premature like her mother was.
Meg, Happy Birthday!!!! Gee you don’t look any older.
Janet#2, you know you can vent to us any time! Families can give us so much joy and so much grief. I do hope you will be able to let this go and not have it bother you for long. (((Hugs)))
Heather, you get a gold star for helping the foreigners find their way.
Kate, I was going to ask you who your beach buddy was. Lol Wow, what a wide beach. Nice.

Hello, have stumbled on this cmmunity and just wanted to say hello. I don't know if I can post often, but am glad to find such a wonderful gathering of supportive kindred spirits.
I have been on my current healthier journey since January and on MFP since February, I think, after the demise of another calorie logging site. My plans have been the same for each month, logging everythng and sticking to low carb. It has been going well so far - down 35 lbs. but the progress seems to be slowing and I still have a bit to go.
I am in awe and inspired by all of you and your goals for May. I will need to step up my efforts after seeing all that you are accomplishing. I go on holiday on May 25 for three weeks. I anticipate a bit of a struggle then but there will be opportunities to walk and swim, and lots of fresh fish and veg to make it easier. I already have a list of low carb drinks, so I will try not to sabotage myself too much.5 -
will post my stats tomorrow- burned 1079 cal4

Good evening from central Arkansas!
It was 80f today and DH was out mowing early. He must of got 1/2 acre done! I stayed in and washed 4 loads of clothes and picked up the house.
I made a baked salmon dinner, sliced zucchini with Parmesan and rice. It turned out delish! I'm trying to plan meals a little bit better. We do eat out a lot or pick up food to go. Yeah!
I just read Barbie's post how she puts her responses on a Word doc and copy and pastes later. I'm always on my iPhone so I've been scrolling up and down to find the posts then I forget! Ugh!
I guess I'll have to sit at the laptop.
Sweet dreams,
Dana
Dolly smiling at y'all!!

Renee in Chicagoland, hey there nice to meet you! My husband said he would love to have a cleaning service too. But the kind where they wear lingerie! Of course he would scatter stuff all on the floor before they visited. OK I should explain, I married a raunchy sailor!!! Haha!!

My ant came out of the kiln tonight, and I realized that I completely forgot to paint the mouth! The gal there said that she would do it for me. I know that it's so hard to paint on the item once it's been fired. I also spoke to her about the tray. she thought that's a good idea. She said that she'd paint over the names and I told her that I'd pay her. At first she said "no" but I know that it's labor intensive.
We're supposed to have a load of riverrock delivered tomorrow, but only 2 yards. I plan to go to the Y but I'll be home early so that we can put the tarp out for the delivery guy. The sister of one of my neighbors will be here so some of us from the neighborhood are going to go to lunch then Vince says I should get my oil changed. I'm going to go to VA Friday. Jess has an appt to go bridesmaid dress shopping. I suspect strongly that she would like me to come up so that we can use my car (I pay for the gas). I know things are tight for her right now. The guy she living with, his contract wasn't renewed so right now he's not working. I also spoke to Vince. Denise wants all the dresses ordered Sat so I'll put Jess' on my credit card. I'll probably go to VA Fri, spend the night at Jess', we'll drive to PA Sat., back to VA Sat. and I'll drive home Sun.
Renee - I usually just boil the leaves enough so that they come off the head of cabbage. Then I let them cool. I read somewhere you should make a "y" cut and cut out the ribs, but I've never had much luck trying to stuff the cabbage. Well, I admit I don't make them very much since Vince won't eat them. I'm the only one who will.
MyDailyPursuit - welcome! Post whenever you can, we love to hear from you. There are some gals here who only post occasionally, and that's OK. Where are you going on your holiday?

mydailypursuits, hi there from an old gal in Oregon! Congrats on the 35 lb loss! That's a great accomplishment! I seem to be in a holding pattern, but that will change, I have lots on my plate, (mentally). Do you have a name we can use, and where do you hail from? Welcome to our little women's Utopia!

Great sayings for great ladies! Hugs!!!

When I read "Younger Next Year for Women", I was at first inspired and then discouraged by all the things they recommended that wouldn't fit into my life. Then I remembered to not let the perfect be the enemy of the best. Joining a gym is absolutely not feasible for me but I bought dumbbells and ankle weights to use at home. I don't do super active cardio every day, but I seek every opportunity to be active. I am very conscious of everything I eat because I want to fuel my body to keep me healthy. I learned to take baby steps toward the life-style that I wanted.
The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want the MOST for what they want at the moment.

Renee - I dig most of the core out of a head of cabbage and then freeze it. When you are ready to make staffed cabbage, just thaw the cabbage. This makes the leaves soft enough to roll properly. I cut the rib off.
Hugs to Everyone.

NY Karen ... Yes, we are back! Finally have my boy back and I can see in just two days he is going to totally destroy my grocery budget this summer. I'll need to channel Becca and her frugal food strategies ... especially since the vehicle woes resulted in a 7,000.00 hit to the budget.
I am still wading through multiple bags of laundry. Son's idea of packing was to dump everything into contractor's bags! Should probably have him channel Becca on that one too...
Michele... we're having a freeze warning tonight and tomorrow I have someone coming to open the pool ... something's not right about that picture ...
Janetr ... hugs
Made it through a long week of roadside food and managed to not gain any weight so I'll take that as a positive. But seriously have to get my act together with making healthy food choices. Planning always helps and needing to adhere to a budget this month makes it even more necessary ... so that's what I'll do.

Not sure what kind of details you are looking for but I'd be glad to answer any questions you may have. I was 63 when I decided to have the surgery and turned 64 before it was done. Sometimes, depending on the health of the patient, it can be 6-12 months of waiting and testing. From the time I first met with the bariatric surgeon in Oct. to surgery date in December was just two months. Almost unheard of he said to go that quickly. Other than the consequences of being overweight such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol Type II Diabetes I had no major health risks that preventing me from having major surgery. They have you and your spouse/partner attend a seminar to learn all of the facts and the different surgeries available, etc. I knew from the beginning that I was interested in the Roux-en-Y laparoscopic gastric bypass. They have you see a psychiatrist, nutitionist and everyone else you can think of to have you as fully prepared as possible. Almost all bariatric surgery is done laparscopically now and you are only in the hospital one or two nights. I weighed 283 lbs when I decided to have surgery, I had lost 24 lbs by surgery date and lost 125# total in about 9 months. There is a lot involved and eating is very strict and you have to be willing to commit to a life time change in eating habits. But as I said earlier I'd do it again. I only wish I had done it earlier. I do eat fairly normally now and most people seeing me eat would not think I was eating strangely or really any differently then they are. That does take a while tho. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Janet #1 I am so glad for you that your dear daughter is home and that you are catching up on those hugs. Enjoy!!!
I'm better now. I know my sisters do not mean to hurt my feelings and I know they love me and I love them right back. I actually think part of my frustration was at not being able to be there with them when I would love to be. Unfortunately I cannot be two places at once
