Becca - What I like about Rummikub is that there's some strategy but it's not a game where you really need to concentrate.
Lenora - have fun tomorrow.

Yesterday, my husband and I hiked from Lake Louise to the Lake Agnes Tea House ... 10.8 km!
Great hike! The last time I did it was about 30 years ago and back in those days it was difficult. This time it seemed quite easy. It's a nice feeling to be in better shape at 50 than I was at 20.
M usually in Oz but visiting Canada
M I did that hike about 5 years ago and could not do it today. You've inspired me to get back in shape and go back. Does it still have the little waterfalls at the top? When I did my bear response work I lived just about 30 min from Lake Louise. My most favorite place in Canada! (My lake! I just let people visit it though. ha ha)

Heather: It sounds like the Church Fete is a happy community event. I envy your pastoral setting and views of mares with their foals, although I love my own view, too. :flowerforyou:
Jenn from BC: welcome to a great group!
Lisa in West TX: Good luck with your paintings. Is the Art Show judged and /or are the paintings for sale?
Pip: I love the photo of you with a medal around your neck atop the podium. Kirby, too. WTG!!!
lisafred24: Welcome to a great group of supportive women. Post often so that we can get to know one another.
Re: I am so glad you're back!
Sue: It is lovely to see your horses in their lush pasture.
Chris in MA: Thank you for sharing the wonderful photos of Sail Boston. I've seen the Eagle in person, but it has been awhile. I love the photo of the ship for Ecuador with its crew on the yardarms.
Becca: I am so happy that you had a nice day doing good things for Becca. Prudence is a sweetie. :flowerforyou:
Lenora: The foam padded splint went in the garbage when I went to the specialist. I now have something else entirely. I attached a photo but it is HUGE. :noway:

Yes there is still a waterfall at the top. This year it is a roaring torrent because they've had so much snow and so much runoff from the melting.
I started doing that climb when I was 8 or 10 years old and did it pretty much every year until I was about 20. It was great to be back there ... next time we might go around the Plains of Six Glaciers route.3 -
Jantr Thanks, m'dear! Appreciate that!

OK, the word they blocked there was t-o-r-r-e-n-t. I forgot about its modern meaning. I, of course, was referring to "a strong and fast-moving stream of water".1 -

• Sleep. I didn't try to force it. Long soaking bath in Epsom Salt. Sat on the sofa and watched shows on my iPad until sleepy. It was late when I fell asleep. And I slept in late Saturday. But I felt much better. I'll keep working on it. About to spend a week at the lake house. The change will do us all good.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Onward.

Sunday morning, humidity very high today. Planning on meeting up with rori later--lucky me
So the retirement party my friend threw for herself was pretty good, she catered it and had two servers helping with everything, drinks, food and cleanup--she got to mingle the whole time, I thought that was really smart of her (not to mention how expensive ). I knew enough people to talk small talk, had longer conversations and I wasn't the first person to leave!!!! I also stood at the desert bar and wasn't tempted by anything, food choices were okay, and I did not eat afterwards-pretty good for me! Perhaps I am growing? Nah!!!!
NYKAREN4 -
Jenn: Welcome!
Pip: Congratulations to both of you!
Jenn: Welcome!
Lisafred: Welcome back! You did it once, you can do it again!4 -
NY KAREN - Brilliant! You are definitely growing! I think your friend was pretty smart too.
Pip - Great job! You both look pretty chuffed! (Means delighted)
Another hot day forecast. I will be spending it indoors, DH likes to be outside for some of it. Might eat our duck legs outside again tonight. So enjoyed it yesterday. Our patio has evening shade.
Chris - The tall ships were amazing. I'm going to show my DH.
Best wishes to all those who are grieving or suffering.
It is Father's Day over here, but DH doesn't celebrate it. His daughters never do anything as he has always discouraged it. My father was the same, calling it a commercial enterprise.
Got to turn up my new trousers (pants) . Haven't worn them yet as they are much too long.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx1 -
Pip and Kirby congratulations!
Chris stunning pictures!1 -
Morning Ladies~ slept ok, but I am up every night 4-5 times tossing and turning...
today I will clean out more stuff.. as much as we can get rid of now... the better off it will be in the long run..
Lenora~ I promise I will take great care of getting all I can possibly get..in the end, I will not back down and yes he does have a shot gun and a few hunting rifles that I will secure out of the house somewhere until the whole thing is done..I dont think he thought I would ever actually file, and I will stand my ground..
I did pry about his weekend at Watkins Glen.. he said he is leaving from work friday the 4th of August ,he will be just hanging around up at the racetrack(yea right) and that he hasnt made reservations where he usually makes them..because it isnt as crowded anymore..I know where he is actually going and he said he will be leaving from work.. I am thinking of finding out what time he is leaving.. and then drive over there and hide the car somewhere and take pictures of him getting in the car with the girlfriend.. that would be priceless in court...3 -
The gallery show was, by turns, exhilarating and exhausting. Art's such a subjective thing. This is a picture of me and a friend who was also showing her work at the show. The five paintings behind her are all ones I painted.

Good morning all! Happy Sunday! It has been a partly rainy weekend. Rained yesterday all morning, and cleared mid afternoon end was pretty warm and steamy last night. Yesterday, I got my grocery shopping done, errands run, and came home and did food prep for the week. It looks I will have the same type of day today. Rainy this morning, so I will get my house cleaned and begin emptying and scrubbing my kitchen cupboards. DH really wants to work on our baseboards today; but I am trying to talk him into waiting until we are ready to paint the walls. My eating hasn't been great this past week. I haven't gone over calorie; just eating too many carbs. Like a runner preparing for a race, except there's no race! LOL. Begin again. I am still plodding through the Challenge. I do say plodding, because it is not something I wake up and think "Oh boy! I get to do 150 squats this morning!" But, once I start, I have no problem getting it done. I am like that with most forms of exercise. I did get a nice compliment from DH yesterday. He had gone to Staples to get a new office chair and it was boxed and in the back of the car. He asked me to help him bring it in, as he needed help putting it in the car. We were talking as we walked to the back of the jeep, and I just continued our conversation and grabbed the box, lifted it out by myself and began carrying it into the house, continuing our talk, oblivious to him just walking beside me. He got nervous when I headed down the stairs with it, but it really wasn't all that heavy. Big and awkward; but not too heavy. Anyway, when I came back up the stairs, at a jog; he looked at me and said, "I can't believe how strong you are, and we are the same age! You even move like you are a lot younger than me." I know the exercises are really helping me. I do have days when I am feeling every day/year of my age. The RA has really done a number on him and his strength and abilities. Even on his good days, he is a shadow of his former "strong" self. I know that really affects his confidence and mood. He does walk every day. Very rarely do we walk together. He likes to walk at night (midnight) and at a slow pace, and I like to walk early morning and as fast as I can go. I DO think he would benefit from swimming with me. Which reminds me, that I need to get back in the pool.
Heather- Your dinner in the garden sounds lovely! Good thing the squeaking girls were gone! I love your pics of your chemopal picnic. What a wonderful way to recognize the helpers in your life and to celebrate your friendship! Wahoo on the time spent on your memoir!
Chris- LOVE, love, LOVE the pics of your ship parade! Right after I finished looking at your pictures, my local news station had a segment on it! I looked for you in the crowd; but didn't see you!
Gloria- (((hugs))) Thinking of you today. Time passes, grief changes, but it is always there when we are missing some one we loved.
Machka- Wow! Your hike! Wondering if it is a trail hike or a road hike? Either way, it is a good distance!
Lenora- Are you sure you burn more calories on the treadmill than on the road? I always assumed you burned more walking/running outside as you are using your own steam to propel you forward (as opposed to a mechanized belt helping you along). Add into that wind resistance on windy days, or ever changing terrain...I think you burn more outside.
Pip- You go girl! Love you and your monkey feet! So inspiring! and Kirby, too!
NY Karen- Yea! A meeting with Rori! That girl gets around! Have a great time!
Ginger- Have a wonderful time at the lake house! Being by the water (away from home) is a good way to recharge your batteries! I have to laugh; I am remembering the first site of lakes in Texas (when I drove down to see DD) took me by surprise. LOL! I always imagined Texas as this big, dry, western state (like in a western movie). Surprise! I also expected to see everyone wearing cowboy hats. I probably saw more than I would around here, but it wasn't as many as I thought. My son in law got a kick out of my amazement with the fact that there are bodies of water in Texas.
Katla - Looks like you and DH did a great job rewrapping the finger! Hope it heals quickly!
Beth and Cheri- Yea for you both! IN the gym and getting it done! One thing I do miss about not belonging to our local gym is the many, many machines! I especially miss the arm workouts and the rowing machine!
Lisa in West TX-Egg is adorable! I can almost hear her purr from here. Poor baby, sleepy from her shots!
Re-Gel injections! Who knew? I am so glad it is giving you some relief, though! Give yourself time and you will be back to your normal attitude and routine! You can do this!
DJ- hugs to you! Hope things settle a bit and get back to normal for you!
Dana- Okay, you have convinced me that the next time I drive to TX, I am going to have to stop in every southern state and sample the bbq! I have heard it is different everywhere you go. I will try a different place in Fort Worth, as I wasn't crazy about the Riscky's bbq that I had while I was there.
Lisafred- I turned 50 last November and had a stressful couple of years that ended (I hope) with the passing of my sister just this February. Most of us on this site can attest to the toll that stress will take on your body. Many of these ladies helped me through this past year (I joined this group January 2016). They gave great advice on finding the calm in the middle of the stress storm. Meditation, exercise, yoga, helpful books to read, focus on self care. Log daily, try to make good choices as far as food and exercise, be kind to yourself, visit often and glean the good vibes and advice from these women. Welcome!
Barbie- I could eat chinese food every day! Sometimes the familiar is what we want most. Remind me again of your rock project. I know you are moving rocks from one spot to another; but for what purpose or design?
Well, as always, I know I have missed some of you, but I better get busy. Looks like this morning is one of those mornings (overcast/stormy) where the couch potato in me would love to just curl up on the sofa and not do anything. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)6 -
Oh! The Challenge Day 18: rest day for jacks, 155 squats, 105 crunches, and 2 minute 30 second plank. I only made it two minutes on the plank before I had to put a knee down, reset my form, and finish the last 30 seconds. Oh well, got it done!6

I've shortened my pants and they are still a tiny bit too long, but with shoes on I think they will be ok. Very, very comfortable.

Pip and Kirby ROCK!! Way to go!! And great job on the weed-wacking. Holy smokes. I see Floyd or someone got on the picnic table to avoid a haircut?
Lisafred – welcome. Many of us here are care-givers for spouses in various degrees and understand those challenges. Your DH’s injuries were life changing for both of you. Please keep coming back.
Re – glad the gel shots are working on your knee. Sorry to hear about the puffiness. You are awesome keeping up with the exercise and logging!!
Chris in MA – thank you for posting the photos of the tall ships. WOW WOW!! That one from Ecuador with the crew standing on the masts was stunning…. The fireboat was very impressive…. All of them were! You did have a wonderful seat!
Becca – what a special thing for Prudence to do for you.
Katla – that Vet Wrap is the greatest thing since sliced bread, isn’t it? Neat job of getting it rewrapped!
Dana – you live in the most interesting area… so much to do around there.
Lisa – Our favorite cat was gray like Egg. Hope there was a good turnout for the gallery show – nifty display!
Machka – loved your observation that you’re in better shape at 50 than you were at 20. That’s something I try to be mindful of…we often talk about being “younger next year”. My goal isn’t to do cartwheels (never could anyhow) but to stop and/or reverse some of the decline associated with aging.
Heather - what a wonderful picnic! Thank you for sharing the photos and I agree, the last one (group) is the best. Very nice "Rose" teacup, saucer and plate - what a neat gift for everyone and the lavender too. And you can't beat your supper in the backyard with all the animals and your DH. I would live there forever! By the way, I’m glad you found some little herbs and especially the French tarragon. Your little herb garden is coming together!
Leigh – sorry you lost your power! We’ve had some terrific windstorms and have lost power for 3 – 4 days, in the winter of course. Thankfully we’ve always had a wood stove so didn’t freeze, but when the power goes out the water pumps do too. It’s normal (for us) keep several days’ worth of potable water and buckets of “flush water” available at all times. Folks who have moved from the city to our rural area always go through a period of adjustment, lol.
NYKaren & Rori – have a super meet-up today! Picture please!
Kelly – isn’t it nice having the strength to carry and move things? When we first moved here, DH would walk up and down our private road a lot with me, walking Sophie. Now, he doesn’t do that anymore… .but thankfully he’s been more active doing some landscaping work and once he gets going his hips aren’t as sore. He’s still stronger and more flexible than I am! He used to be a weight-lifter.... and says that he knows he did damage to his shoulder joints from that, of course the RA doesn't help. He'll have bursitis in them for a day or two then it gets better, thank goodness.
Beth and Lisa - Enjoy going to the gym!
Today is strength training for me - looks like dogs are napping for a while so I can sneak out this morning. I'm also going to sell my spinning wheel, rigid heddle looms, various supplies. They used to be a big part of my life, but no more and it's OK to let go. Trying to set an example for DH who has remnants of his hobbies all over the place as well...aka DRUM sets. Lordy.
Anyhow, there's a shop in town that sells fleece and gives spinning lessons so I'll put up an ad there. I'm thinking of the room I'll have in the guest room too!
Have a wonderful Sunday!

Good morning all.
Just joined this group yesterday but so enjoy reading all your posts - so interesting!
I had a great day yesterday, for the first time in a long time I finally logged everything I ate and felt great!
Didn't get in any excercise yesterday but it's a soggy morning so I'll put on a walking tape and get something done.
Also planning on starting to clean out my pantry as I want to put new liner on the shelves and this seems to be the perfect day for it.
I would usually bake on a day like today but not this time!
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Would love to join the group and conversation. I have a number of events coming up the remainder of the month and have set my goals of keeping on the healthier side of choices that will be available to me. I do not want to totally deprive myself and will indulge in small doses. Overall my goal this month will be to not gain. If I lose, that's a bonus, but I will be happy with no gain.
Also.....looking for friends. I would love to have friends in their 50's who have either lost or are serious about losing and being healthy.
That's it for me. I will check back in a day or two.
