good evening,
oktober fest party - waved the ice cream sandwich away, but had the kraut dog..... calories limping into the red. I am at least making choices instead of just eating it all. Small consolation when the scale ## hits, but at least I am trying.
Dawn - loving my christmas tree pine scentsy.....

Thursday night
So tired! So much cleaning! Professional photographer coming tomorrow morning to photograph our house and hoping to officially list our house for sale on Saturday! (Unfortunately, our realtor is not available tomorrow because her brother is getting married tomorrow.) She is thinking she will have the photos by Saturday and could put the listing online sometime that day. So, cleaning for photos and for possible showings!
We have not told anyone about the accepted offer or the plan to list our house. Family know we have been thinking about it. My mom was less than supportive when I sent her links to the house we were looking at - and are now hoping to buy. She has been in quite a mood but it hurt my feelings when she was tearing into the place I was considering as the next home for myself and my family. I've kind of been avoiding conversation with her since then. Figured I'd wait to tell her (and everyone else) until our house goes on the market.
Eating has been hit or miss. Today was miss. Maybe tomorrow will be better. I sure haven't stayed on plan this week as I had intended. I've got to get back on track. Face is looking very round in photos. It makes me sad. Have not braved the scale at all but should do that soon so I can get myself back to checking and being accountable.
Had a good night attending my two younger kids' school conferences. Both are doing well. My daughter, who is in 8th grade and struggles, is holding her own with a B-/C+ in her classes. We are going to work hard to try to stay in that B range. My son, who is in 2nd grade and does not struggle, is already scoring into 3rd grade for reading and math. The teacher assured me they will work hard to keep him challenged but not overwhelmed. I am proud of both of them for being such hard workers.
My oldest son, who is a sophomore in college, interviewed for a part-time IT technician job with our City and he was hired on the spot! It's a little more money and a few more hours than he had working in a clerical position for the university - and it's in IT. He is an information systems major, so this will be great experience for him!
I'd better get into the shower and bed!

FRIDAY
Good morning,
Up early, so taking care of dog will get sleep and eat in a couple of hours.
Annie - hope the photography goes well. I was never an "all A's" student myself, her grades look good. Congrats!! on your son getting a job while in school in his field - there could be a career with the City!! Make his own money so a little more for you??
Glad I type the day as I go, people at work who paid $10 to wear jeans all week (money went to charity), so it has felt like Friday all week....
Wave to all who follow. Lurking from work.1 -
Lana- waves! Hope you've had a good visit with sis in DC...
Sara- so glad you are enjoying your scent! Makes me smile!
Annie - I know how you feel about your mom...I have those same issues with mine...I love her to death, but dread telling her anything... one reason I'm glad I'm 3 hrs away...I can pick and choose what she needs to know... which is very little...
I've caught the horrible cold that's been going around work...I have not been this sick in a long time.. just miserable... ugh..bad thing, I feel like I'm constantly starving, but when I go to eat I can't breathe... blah
Ok, enough whining... hope everyone has a great Friday and weekend...
Waves to everyone else who stops by...0 -
Thanks, Dawn! Yeah, she looked at the link to the house pictures and immediately emailed me to say the paint colors were bad (which I told her before I sent her the link) and that the house was BIG. She actually had the audacity to say, "Are you planning to add to your family? 5 bedrooms?" Sheesh. My youngest is 7 and he was a surprise. I just told her - again - that the paint can be changed and that the 5th bedroom isn't even a legal bedroom because it doesn't have a closet. And that was all I said. I just thought her comment about adding to our family was snarky. I almost wanted to ask her, "And did you and Dad really need to buy a 3 bedroom house when you moved South - when there are only 2 of you?"2

Good evening,
Emailed boss who is on vacation until Monday that I want to move cubicles, I can use my lower audit scores and production to statistically show how disruptive my new cube neighbor is. Hope it works.
Annie - stick to your guns. Paint is temporary and a "room" is not what it used to be - and what if you want a craft room?? Keeping good thoughts things continue to work out.
Dog wants a walk and I am thrilled.
Any ideas for meals next week?? Brain dead here, but lower sodium from this week would be a good start....
Wishing all a good night.1 -
SATURDAY
Good morning,
Dog up and fed. Regular kind of errands today so with any luck no surprises either.
Back for more sleep. BBL.1 -
Hey All~~
Just a simple checking in. I seem to have the flu!
Last night I was shivering, but my face was burning up. Today is improved, but I've got no strength.
Back to bed with me.....
More tomorrow......

Good evening,
Chicken fried rice it is and waiting to put leftovers in freezer.
Lana - cannot find a good image to send - cabana boy with chicken soup?? none to be had
When in doubt chicken soup is your best bet - even canned.
2 hats ready to be sent Monday for chemotherapy patients who like pink......
Wishing all a good night

Sara - that looks delicious! I have really been struggling with eating while I've been ill... not sure why, but nausea is overwhelming me every time I eat... blah... hope you are able to get away from disruptive work neighbor...
Lana - feel better soon! CBoys on way with soup and pampering...
Annie - do what makes you happy... like you said, it may not be where you stay forever... but, enjoy it, make the best of it... and, if your house sells soon, getting away from terrible neighbors!
More rest for me... coughing not as intense.. not sure if I'm getting better or if it's meds... hope I'm getting better... been sick too long...
Have a great night!0 -
Saturday evening
Diet has been horrible - too much stress. Had fun at the church "Pumpkinmania" party last night. I dressed up a "Flo, the Progressive Girl". Everyone loves that costume! We trick-or-treated with the kids at one set of grandparents today and then carved our pumpkins tonight.
And our house went on the market today!!! Working up the courage to tell my family...
Maybe my diet will be better tomorrow.
Annie1 -
Annie - good luck with the house sale!
Lana, hope the DC visit with your sister was fun, at least before you got sick. Feel better soon. Same to you Dawn - sounds like you’re pretty miserable right now.
Sara, hope you and Miss Tillie are having a good weekend.
It’s been busy at work and will be equally busy next week with our Board of Directors meeting Thursday and Friday (I work for a nonprofit.) so trying to enjoy the peace of the weekend as much as possible to get myself psyched up for the week ahead. Hope to hit the gym tomorrow morning (we’re due for some heavy rain tomorrow so no walking) followed by a bit of clothes shopping in the afternoon (have had some success with weight loss but it means I need new clothes).
Waves to all who stop by, and welcome to the newcomers.
Best,
Tess

SUNDAY
Good morning, know it is early, went to bed early too.....
Grocery shopping and then in. Have 3 dinners made for week. Have sweet potato/chicken sausage for another dinner - rest is up in the air right now.
We also have people out with colds, change of season? But this stuff is all year round just gets worse in cold months because we are in close quarters. Dawn/Lana drink alot of liquid and rest.
Time to dive back under the bedding. BBL.1 -
Hello everybody!
Thank you for the Cabana Boys with Chicken Soup. I just had some more of it for breakfast--soup is good for breakfast!
Dawn I hope you feel better soon. What is up with that nausea of yours? Terrible.
Sara - Yes, I hope that you get away from difficult cubicle neighbor. I assume you looked around at the real estate there, and there is an empty spot that's more suitable?
Tess, if there is a break in the rain, I need to coax myself out for a short walk, just so as not to be in The Cave all day.
Annie - Amazed how quickly the listing went--good for you!

A trip to Greece is one year from now, 11 months, really. I need to be DOWN for that! Nothing to do on Samos in October except hike. Yikes! I'm going as guest of friends who are doing a house swap, so Samos it is.1 -
Sending out Cabana Boys to check up on Samuels and Saltine and Dani and Mango and Kathryn~~~1 -
Sunday
My two younger kids both have coughs/colds/allergies? I believe it is due to getting back to school and also the change of seasons.
Good news! We got a request for a showing tomorrow afternoon! Luckily, my job is flexible so I will use my 1 hour lunch break to help cover the time I will need to be away to come home and get the dog and the cats out of the house. Wish me luck!
Sent an email out to my family last night (through Facebook messenger) to tell them about all of our house news. I don't think my mom has read the message yet? But she saw my Facebook post about the showing. So, there's that.
Hoping to get to the gym and walk on the track today. I have successfully stayed away from the Halloween candy and the cookies today. Had sugary coffee with breakfast and an egg and toast vs. 2 eggs. (Should really have stayed with 2 eggs and no carbs.) Trying to be mindful. Telling myself I will stay away from the junk this week and try to do some strength training at home and use the treadmill when I can't get to the gym.
Lana - How exciting! A trip to Greece? I hope it helps you stay on track to have the goal of being down for that!
Sara - I moved cubbies awhile back (not my choice) but it's ended up being great. I hope it works out for you.
Dawn - feel better soon!
Have a great day everyone. I'm off to clean, grocery shop, walk, and clean some more!

I feel slightly better, today... not near as much coughing.. really tired... not sure about the nausea... maybe, combo of meds and sinuses draining... and, the fact that I wait too long to eat cuz nothing sounds good, possibly... hoping I'm starting on the uphill side of this...
Lana - hope you felt well enough to get out..
Tess- thank you... good to see you..
Annie - great news on showing! That would be wonderful!
Sara - have you got a response about changing cubicles? Good thoughts to you...
Back to resting... hoping tomorrow is a better day...

Good evening,
Dinner was roasted carrots and radishes with chicken sausage and sweet potato all fried together. One of my own makings and not bad.
Time of year I do not like - will I fit into my winter pants?? Luckily I have some tops that are longer. I have not tried them on yet.....
Annie - great job on keeping interest in your house. Keeping fingers crossed.
Dawn/Lana - sleep and drink liquids is boring as heck but necessary - can you make it a contest of sorts?? If you drink "X" amount of herb tea/water then you can do "y"?? I am trying to imagine what would motivate me......
QOTW - It has been awhile hasnt it?? What will you be working on this week?
AOTD: 2 things water and walking - both "more" than I have been.
Wishing all a good night1 -
Pants update, I can at least get the pants on - weather forecast in paper is 10 degrees warmer than the one online and I just bit the bullet and tried them on.3

Success! Definitely a NSV. C-boys will stop by to do a happy dance in your honor.2 -
Lana - Greece sounds awesome! I’ve never been. Look forward to hearing about the plans as they unfold over the next several months.
Annie - good luck on the listing! My fingers are crossed for you that you will sell your house quickly so you can move into the one you found.
Missy! Welcome back. I well know how life can get busy and it’s hard to keep up here. No guilt - just glad to hear from you.
AOTW - it’s going to be stressful at work with not much time at night for going to the gym. So my goal is to keep my calories under control and get as much non-gym exercise in as I can.
Good night all - Happy Monday.

reread should be Annie great job on getting interest on your house - so quickly. One thing when it comes out of my mouth wrong but really bad when I write it wrong and dont catch it2

Hey again! I've been bad about checking in here...at least I've mostly been staying on track with the whole health thing though.
Had my first obstacle course race yesterday and it was amazing. I cannot wait to do it again - my next one is in only 13 days but man, that feels like forever. It was some of the most fun I've ever had. I got a...moderately bad injury on the course (hyperextended my knee jumping into a trough that I thought was mostly full of water, but it was actually more mud than water so my foot hit a lot more resistance than I expected and down I went), but it wasn't bad enough to stop me from finishing. I barely felt a thing during the race, it hurt like nobody's business afterward, but now today it only hurts if I put too much pressure on it in a direction that knees aren't supposed to have much flexibility anyway.
Haven't been eating great over the past few days, but that's largely as a result of trying to get rid of stuff I can't eat as of tomorrow (I'm starting a 6-week program featuring a nutrition plan that is extremely limited in the number of ingredients I'm allowed to use) without throwing it away. The program is going to work out to be free for me (because I intend to follow the instructions to the letter). It runs on a model kind of like DietBet - you get intensive coaching instead of more money back, but the premise is the same in that the people who give up pay for the majority of the running costs, while the people who follow through get full refunds. I'm happy that this model is catching on; I've been thinking it should be A Thing for years - I've always thought that if I were to open a gym (not likely, but it's one of the many things I kinda, sorta want to do with my life), you'd get a discount on your membership for every time you checked in. If someone beats me to that...I won't be disappointed at all.
Here's something I had to say anyway but it kinda leads into an answer to the QOTW: ...it's starting to hit me like a load of bricks just how social this all can and should be, and it may sound ironic but that's actually part of why I've been so bad about checking in - because, well, I know you all are real people, but it just doesn't feel the same as being able to see people face to face. It really hit hard yesterday when I realized just how nice it felt to be out there talking to other people, in person, who were out there for the same reasons I was. Hell, I got help from a friendly stranger when my pants got stuck on one of the walls I had to climb over - that...can't really happen online. That's my problem, I have so many fitness buddies here on MFP, but almost none out in meatspace - most of the people I'm closest to who I can see face-to-face have no interest in this kind of stuff. Ever since the race yesterday, I've been wanting to start or join a group to regularly team up at races like this...but I hardly know where to start. My boyfriend is the closest I've got to a fitness buddy (he helps make sure I eat healthy, we have plans to do a few events together, all that) but he's only one person, he's got a lot of work to do before he's up to running alongside me when I'm going for speed (if that's even possible for him), and he's never going to want to do any of these obstacle courses with me; he hates getting dirtier than necessary.
So, my answer to the question is, I'm trying to lessen the impact of this problem now, by means of Facebook, being more talkative during group assignments in my stress management class at school, that kind of stuff. I have been wanting to use Facebook to do that for a while, but the problem is, I'm not the only person in my Facebook circle of friends and family who's struggling to beat an eating disorder - I am, however, the only one in this subgroup who will see more benefit than harm from continuing to try to lose weight. I didn't want to risk accidentally pushing anyone to relapse...so what I did instead was, I made a secondary account (under an alias juuust so none of those friends run into it by accident), and I'm starting to use that for fitness networking. It's...not going great so far, but I haven't exactly been at it for long.
Hopefully I'll be more able to keep up with checking in as I make progress on this.
Sara: Congratulations on the pants! That...sounded weird out of context, but still, my point remains. Excellent NSV!
Lana: A trip to Greece sounds amazing - I'm jealous! I hope you have a lot of fun!2 -
Mango, welcome back! Congratulations on the obstacle course race - sounds like a lot of fun - and the new diet plan.
Until you mentioned also needing fitness buddies in real life, I hadn’t thought about that aspect of support. I have a friend who is at the same stage of weight loss and fitness that I am, so it’s helpful and fun to be able to share with her. In reading your note, I realized how helpful it is to me to have a combination of support - this forum and people I can see!
Happy Monday all! BBL.
Tess2 -
I've found that real life fitness buddies are very hard to come by. The reasons that can't hit the gym or come to yoga are innumerable. Unfortunately online people seem a bit more reliable in showing up regularly. I'll take the support where I can get it.2

MONDAY
Good morning, scale up .8 and not the worst I have seen in the past week.
Looking forward to the time change as dog will want longer walks.
Mango - in face support groups is what makes WW so successful, but finding a meeting is often difficult. Glad you are able to find another level of support. Excellent job with the obstacle course. Every step you take forwards is towards a better you. Keep going.
Lana - our dept has 2 empty cubicles that are "available". One is in a dark area and one is between 2 chatterboxes.....yes I did just roll my eyes.
Need to fiddle/diddle with breakfast and lunch.
Wave to all who follow.2 -
Monday
Trying to put my head on straight and telling myself to eat right and get some exercise this week. I just can't afford to gain any more weight over the holidays so at least maintaining is my goal. If I can lose weight, that would be great.
Sara - you always have such a good attitude! Keep it up!
Lana - how are you feeling?
House is ready for the showing this afternoon. I'll have to run home and get the cats/dog out of the house and keep them in our Mountaineer until after the showing. Then I'll work late to make up some time. My hubby said the sign is going up in the yard as we speak. That means all our neighbors will know! And the worst part is it makes me mad to think that the stupid drug-dealers across the street will probably do a "happy dance" to know that we are trying to leave. It feels like they are "winning" but I have to keep telling myself we are doing what is best for our family and to he!@ with them!
Work is very busy today. Will lurk from work.

Sign me up for hot toddies... please! Hehe3

Its cold, gray, and rainy here today. I feel chilled to the bone. I need to whip up another cup of chai (with cashew milk and stevia).
Weekend in West Virginia was great. It was chilly in the mornings and warmed up for the afternoons. It was great Jeeping weather! We spent 2 days on the trails. I feel like I have been rolled downhill in a 50 gallon drum, but it was worth it!
Coming back to work on such a dreary Monday was so hard to do.
I wasn't able to really make many choices while Jeeping. They had catered meals so I ate what I was served. Was not able to log anything over weekend because there was no cell signal or wifi up in the mountains.
The scales weren't so nice this morning. I haven't weighed this much in almost a year. Had to pull a few things out of the closet that I wasn't wearing because they were too big.
I am slowly trying to swing back into habit of logging and am also trying to fit some extra exercise in here and there. I figure if I can do 10 minutes of treadmill, or bike, or whatever in the gym at least 3 times a day, that is 30 minutes a day that I wasn't doing before!
a quick update: my daughter was able to actually locate a couple items that were stolen from her storage unit at a local flea market. She had photos of the items and could describe the contents of boxes the vendor had. Detectives questioned the vendor and the vendor actually gave her some items back but denied any wrongdoing. There were several storage units hit last week. So someone out there is making a living by doing this, not just a one time thing.2
