Oooh Karen - that sounds wonderful!!!!!
I've emailed myself a pic of Christmas "dinner". DDIL is taking the pic so not in it.
Bea is asleep so not in it.
I've gone to bed very early so as to talk to you and sort out photos. I take them with my phone and email myself any good ones.
Then I upload them to Dropbox. I'm paranoid about losing stuff. DH takes lots of photos on a normal compact camera, but I mostly share from my tablet as I am wedded to it.
We have decided to stay for lunch, taking the kids out in the morning for a walk. Then we set out for home to prepare for our visitors on Wednesday. I had a coughing session last night and hardly slept so I've got blankets prepared downstairs in case I have to decamp to the sofa. Just knowing I can makes me feel better.
A couple of old dear friends have been in touch this Christmas, so that is nice and my elder son actually texted me. I found out through Facebook that he has actually moved in with his girlfriend. :noway: Didn't tell me, of course. I also now know the names of her teenage kids. Love him really. At least he is happy.

Merry Christmas!
Had a wonderful day with DD and DH. Everyone loved their gifts. I got 2 night shirts, earrings and a makeup holder. DD and I made veg lasagna and had it with sparkling cider. I made the last batch of peanut brittle. Of course I’ve eaten quite a bit. It will go to work with me tomorrow.
This afternoon we played Yahtzee. It’s a game we always play because we always played it with my mom. We all miss her so much along with my dad.
DD gave her and I a beautiful necklace to share. It is a “generation “ necklace with 3 intertwined circles representing grandmother, daughter and granddaughter. She thought it was something we could share. She really is a very thoughtful daughter.
I’m blessed with such a wonderful family.
Hope everyone had a wonderful day.
Thank you all for being such an important part of my life. I treasure your friendship.

Merry Christmas everyone. Woke up to snow, so pretty and not enough to stop me from driving to family gathering in Pennsylvania. Easy drive, thank goodness and lovely to see all the nieces and nephews all growing up (yes there were at least 2 very sullen and cranky teens there) I ate well, loaded up with veg and kale salad-no bread or sweets for me and no wine (gasp). I still had plenty of fun. Got home and am tucked in, peace to everyone. NYKAREN5

Had a wonderful day at DS's house! For some reason I dreaded it, but we enjoyed every minute. The children loved their presents. I loved getting new rugs for my front entrance and back entrance doors to keep the new wood floors safe. DDnL's brother (executive chef at a country club) cooked delicious beef filet steaks and then there were wonderful sides. The two grands and the adults were happy to try out hover boards. All in all a very pleasant day! Now I am watching movies and DH is in bed at 7:30. But, so glad the holiday is over.
Love you all,

pip - love that wine stopper. Where can I get one?
Karen in VA - how sweet!
Giving Jess LOTS of leftovers. Well, the fact is that I'll have to make another dinner when Denise and Pete come here. But it won't be as big. As a matter of fact, I have some crab cakes in the freezer that I was going to make for them, but we have enough from our Christmas that I'm just going to give them the leftovers.
Got lots of Lowes gift cards which is what I asked for. Jess and Colby got me knives (Jess keeps complaining that I don't have good knives), a book about cake decorating, some cat coasters, holiday earrings, just a few little things. All in all, very nice. It was nice of Colby to go out of his way to come here. But then again, if he didn't he'd probably be alone. But we love having him. He needs to be at work on Wed so he and Jess are planning to leave tomorrow
Just found out that Jess' interview is the 3rd. I was planning to use my laptop the Thurs. before to do a Body Pump DVD, but I guess I'll just do something at home. Not a big deal.
Vince wants to go see "The Last Jedi" either tomorrow or Wed before Denise gets here. I'll need to straighten up the house, but that won't take all that long. Not sure when we'll be going.
How I can't wait to get back to healthy eating tomorrow. Then I'll probably go somewhat off when Denise and Pete get here, but not as much as I have during the holiday.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening Friends and I hope you have had a Merry Christmas.
Allie, I’m so proud of you for leaving the house if you didn’t feel welcome. I can only imagine that Tom did do the same to some of your family over the years. You do what is right for you. Go Girl!!!!!
Janetr, I loved your picture to remind us of the reason we celebrate Christmas.
Joyce, my DH never acts really excited about any gift. He doesn’t even realize it. He will say he likes something but then find a little negative about it…. The handle is slick. Or the teeth or too close together. Or it looks like another one I used to have. Just always throws something in. I’ve gotten over even trying to find him the perfect gift and get him what “I” think he needs. Lol DD is not used to that and was a little taken back by some of the reactions.
Heather and others, I love the family pictures and seeing/sharing your Christmas celebrations. It sounds like many of you had a lovely Christmas. . I think this is the only time of year that I really wish we had more than one child. I’d love a house full of family and kids even with all the work. We got up and I put the breakfast French toast in the oven, that I prepared last night. DD got up at a decent hour so we opened gifts. She hasn't had the money to buy gifts the past two years and this year she more than made up for it. I made deviled eggs and twice baked potatoes along with green bean casserole that DD requested. DH grilled the steaks and we had a great Christmas dinner. We ate about 2:00 so no evening meal today. It was actually the best Christmas in a number of years and one reason is that our DD is at home.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Merry Christmas Eve
Today I walked to a church that is 1 km away. I do have a church that is closer, but if some of you recall, I just didn't feel particularly comfortable there. This one is halfway up a steep hill, so it was a bit of a hike, but it definitely felt better. It was a nice service.
My husband had to work again this morning, but he got back early so we did a little bit of shopping ... mainly work stuff for him, but we did each get new mobile phone covers!
Edit: My parents called via Messenger/Skype ... that was a highlight of the day, getting to see and talk to my parents. While we were talking my brother rang them and so greetings were passed between us all.
Then we went for a 27 km bicycle ride. Gotta make some effort to compensate for everything I'm eating!!
And speaking of eating ... then we went out for dinner. We've been eating out a lot this week but my husband, the family cook, is tired and it is, after all, Christmas. It was Thai on Friday night, Mexican last night, and American tonight.
The rest of the evening was spent watching Midsomer Murders and then Melbourne's Carols by Candlelight.
I could wish the weather was better. Drizzle and low teens isn't particularly nice. They're even hinting there could be snow at higher elevations. But at least we aren't getting the Canadian snowfalls!!

Machka's Christmas
My husband went out to the orchard in the morning but was back in time to make us waffles (topped with cherries and whipped cream) while we packed. The whole waffles and packing thing was quite leisurely so we finally got away about noon.
We drove out to the Tasman Peninsula on the east side of Tasmania, close to where my sister-in-law lives, and got ourselves settled in a gorgeous 2-bedroom self-contained unit. It was the only one they still had available when I book, and was possibly a bit larger for our purposes, but it was just lovely.
I decided I wanted to burn off some Christmas dinner before we had it ... or maybe burn off the waffles ... so I went for a 4.2 km run, along the water's edge, and then another 1 km run on the beach there. I haven't run on sand before so that was a different sort of experience.
Then we dressed up and went to dinner. I didn't know what to expect, but I was impressed ... so much food and so much variety. We were absolutely stuffed full by the end of the meal. My sister-in-law and her new boyfriend were with us, so we caught up while eating.
BTW - dessert was, as expected, quite traditional with little Christmas puddings, pavlova, and trifle. Also delicious brownies and a very tasty orange cake.
My husband and I returned to our unit and relaxed for the rest of the evening. I even read much of the evening!!
Boxing Day
We were up fairly early, packed up and headed over to the Tasman Island Cruise booking office.
Today, we went on the Tasman Island Cruise: https://www.tasmancruises.com.au/
We've been on the Bruny Island Cruise, run by the same company, a couple times before, but when we decided to go out to the Tasman Peninsula, we decided to try out this cruise as well.
The link I've just posted (https://www.tasmancruises.com.au/) has a short video about the cruise and shows footage of the dolphins and seals etc. ... and the scenery! And yes, we saw it all! There were two pods of dolphins, all sorts of seals and birds, and gorgeous scenery. The video shows the boats we were on as well ... they had three boats out today.
When we finished the cruise, 3 hours later, we had lunch with my sister-in-law and then headed home where I am now planning to start a pavlova!

Rey Thanks for the chef john food wishes pointer. Juicing 50 key limes? (no way!) Loved the cat-in-bowl.
Carol bad bakers don't come up with creative graham cracker solutions to coconut shortages. Bet it was yummy
Michele, Evie, Barbie beautiful crochet and knitting. How I envy you your skills and stick-to-itiveness.
Barbie, pip, Terry and all who had snow, thanks for posting the pics. I love looking at it but not the associated ice so will just enjoy your pics and be thankful we've moved away from it !
Quiet Christmas, went to restaurant for prime rib feast, watched movies, relaxed. Joe said the best Christmas ever I jumped in and said "because of no tree", he said nope, because it was in our new home place. When will I learn to wait a beat when he's speaking? For him to use the words "best" and "Christmas" in the same sentence is truly a miracle.
3 pages to will catch up later,
Hugs to all,

Love all the pics of families and pets. DH and I just ambled in the sunshine, had a picnic lunch. No huge meal finished the day with few beers in local bar.
