Snow day today! lol There was a time, long, long ago, when those words would elicit a shout of joy from me and a whole day of playing in the snow, hot cocoa, cartoons on tv...owning a childcare home, there have been snow days where I would have all of my regular kids PLUS their older siblings for a circus of snow day fun. This year, I have two "teacher" families, two kids in each family, so those four kids will be staying home with their teacher-mommies. That leaves me with only two of my regular kids today. I may have my older school aged girl joining us, not sure yet. Either way, it will be a quieter day. I am almost positive the licensing consultant will not be here today. If I had her job, I would NOT be out driving on the roads today. Not in this area.
Allie- I really admire you for trying to keep a "friendship" with Tom (after all of the crap he has pulled). That said, I can't help but think showing him the stocks and being open about your father's estate, with him, is a mistake. Not his business and I wouldn't put it past him to use this information against you. Sending you lots of love and support in all of your actions, however. A hard few months indeed. GEtting rid of Tom and losing your dad in this same period.
Heather- You look fantastic and your outing sounds fun! Your grandkids are adorable, as always! Keeping your son and his family in my thoughts. I come from an "alcoholic" family; I had my bout with it when I was younger. I can't imagine having to steer clear of it while it is all around you in your workplace! Sending hugs
Karen VA- That shot of Olivia in the doorway is beautiful! Everything looks so warm and comfy and looking at it, you can almost feel the softness of Olivia's skin. Her baby hands on the door jamb are just adorable! (I am a sucker for baby hands)
Pip- I can't even tell you how much I LOVE that pic of Yogi with the tie on! His face just gets me every time! You HAVE to make it into a greeting card! Thinking of you and your pups made me wonder; why do we call you Pip?
Becca-I love that photo of your car. I think you have posted it before?? Your car is cute, but the homes and the neighborhood behind it are fantastic!
Katla-What state/time zone were you visiting? I keep forgetting you are from the NW! I keep putting you on the Eastern Seaboard with NYKaren and the rest!
Beth- I am amazed at the advances the medical world has made in hearing aids and surgeries to help with hearing. At age four my daughter was diagnosed with a 60% hearing loss (which explained her delayed/ speech issues). We always thought she was just being naughty and not listening to us, so to find out she just couldn't hear us if her back was turned to us made us feel horrible. Anyway, through a few surgeries, her hearing was restored. It is not 100%, and now at age 29, she is finding it is diminishing a bit, but she showed me a photo of a hearing aid her doc showed her. It is like a small disc that sits behind her ear. Amazing! Sending hugs to you!
Well, just got a call that I will have a couple more kids today. I better get moving and get some breakfast ready for them! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Hello Ladies,
Day 5 of my journey is here. I have a brutal 70 minute workout ahead of me today, then off to get blood work done. A few months ago my iron level was really low, so the Dr. wants to have it rechecked after being on a supplement for 3 months. She is also doing a Celiac panel because of my issues with the Elimination diet I was on. It didn't go well at all. Lanette, I have an RH like condition myself and I find that if I elevate my leg with a pillow under it that it takes the stress off my knee. Also, moist heat may do more to help the swelling than ice. Hope he feels better, soon. Well. gotta run. BBL.2 -
Welcome Friday! Make the most of it!

I DID IT! :drinker: Walked for 5 mins, "ran" for 25 mins, walked for 5 mins.
Next week I've got to do that 3 times in the week.
I used my Running Play list, even though it gives me terrible earworms, because I really needed the boost of the music. I've just added T Rex - 20th Century Boy. It was on Desert Island Discs this morning and I thought it would be perfect.
Waiting to hear from DYS. I may have to text him later today.
Rabbit stew tonight. I'm going to use a glass of red wine in it, but I'm feeling a bit weird about drinking any. Empathy with my son.

Hi I turned 50 this August. Menopausal mom w autistic 11 yr old child w mood swings.. I am 5'3 most of my adult life I've been anywhere between 107 lbs to 145 lbs. The past year I let my weight climb to 154 lbs due to tremendous stress. Well sometime in December my asthma kicked in full force and I could only sleep sitting up and I suddenly had chest pains. I realized I had given myself a hiatial hernia w gerd. I went on the keto diet for 3-4 weeks followed with a juice fast. Within the first 3 days the asthma disappeared, 5 days, the chest pain gone, 10 days, I was able to take out the wedge I was sleeping on. Now I'm down to 141.2 as of yesterday morning. Goal weight is 120 something.. my husband & I go for walks.. but feeling like I should up the ante. Happy to find a group in my age range..

When Lenny was alive, his favorite book was Charles dickens and a character in there was pip. His email address was .....@yahoo.com. After he died, I kept his email but reversed the cd to dc (I couldn’t keep it so I modified it) and added ## at the end (how old he was when he died) so my email is
@yahoo.com (changed it bk to cd). My given name is Isabel but I hate it, won’t answer to it, so people mostly call me Iz or Izzy, prefer iz

It’s FRIDAY!
Lanette, sorry to hear about DH knee. Hope it is better soon.
Betsy, glad you are enjoying your trip. It’s pretty out there. Send us some pics.
Joyce, glad to see you posting even if it is with one hand.
Rori, haven’t watched any Olympics yet this year. Because we have Hulu we don’t tend to watch local channels. I‘m sure I’ll catch some of it.
Wendy, LOL on your butt apologizing.
Katla, hope you are feeling more energized today. I’m going to try your Fake Frozen Fanta.
Allie, don’t even response to your brother’s texts. You most certainly do not need that bull$hit. Maybe you should go to Al-Anon as you could do with extra support right now.
Heather, sending good thoughts for your DS. And you look fantastic! Congrats on your walking. You rocked it girl!
Becky, good luck at the drs.
ClarityPeace, welcome to the group. Sounds like you have already made progress on your weight and cleared up some of the health problems. Tell us what you’d like to be called. We are a chatty group but full of ideas, support and encouragement in all areas of life.
Pip, sorry but you look like a pip to me.
Well back to work. Working on my procedures today as it’s been slow here at work. Up a little today on the scales but I know I fluctuate daily so not too worried.

Lenora: Sleep well. I hope you feel better every day. :flowerforyou:
(((Allie))) Your brother sounds like a nasty little bully. :grumble: I hope your visit to the medium is productive and provides you the encouragement that you need. :flowerforyou:
Heather: I'm so sorry that your son has had a work related problem with alcohol. Sending good thoughts to the whole family.
KJLamore: We visited DD in Illinois and DS in Virginia. We live in NW Oregon.
Sue in Troutdale: It is great to have another Oregonian in the group.
ClarityPeace: Welcome to a great group!
Pip: My mom had a dear friend named Isabel. I've always thought it is a pretty, feminine name. I agree with you that Pip suits your personality. We ought to be able to choose the name we want to be called by.
DSIL and DBIL are coming some time today. I look forward to seeing them. We drink caf and they drink decaf. They always have two pots on the counter when we visit them I we just got our second pot out and are running water through it to be sure it is cleaned up and ready to go.

Did 10865 steps yesterday in 3 walks- a 30 min, and two 20 min walks. Helped my mood some. When I got back from the first one, DH decided to set up appointment with surgeon for hernia. I wasted no time calling for the appointment. He claims his eye is better. He already had tears and a detached retina in his other eye so knows the consequences. I need to let him decide and take care of me. The walks helped me focus on me.
Thank you all for the support. This is why I love this group!

Hello ladies:-
I've just finished week 3 of my little job at the school. One hour at breakfast and one at lunch. The lunchtime consists of half an hour inside helping the little ones cut up their food or open packets and containers, and half an hour in the playground playing with them and keeping an eye on them. Most of them are delightful, some not so! The weather here is very cold at the moment so I walk around telling them all to do their coats up. Some need help because they're only four years old!
I'm looking forward the the weekend, I've started painting again. I paint with watercolours but am not very good, I enjoy it very much though.
I love reading all of your posts and hearing about everyone's different lifestyles.
All the best,
Karen UK7 -
Karen UK - Small children and painting with watercolours! Sounds like the perfect life!
Whenever I tried to do a bit of art my ex husband and teenage children would always scoff at my efforts. It put me off. I would like to get back at it and just do it for my own pleasure. Just splosh around.

Good morning.
Week one of my "training experience" at the fitness center is complete. The three weeks is supposed to make me want to pay an extra $80 a month to continue, but they are not selling it, not for that price anyway. I do like the small group (3 of us) training session with a trainer twice a week, and I've learned a lot, but I think I can manage on my own. I can use my points for training once a year, so I may do it again next year, just to make sure I'm on track.
Did I tell you all that my hubby is changing jobs in March? This is causing quite a bit of stress at home for the moment, but we think it will be a positive change once it's made.
I am pretty sore today from training this week, so I am going to take a rest day, although hubby and I are going out dancing tonight (so not like us!) so I will still get a little activity.
My eating has not been very good. I've been craving salt, so eating too many chips and nuts. Must get myself turned back around -- I haven't been eating like I should since my sister died. Her death took more out of me than I thought it would. I didn't work out for a few weeks after, either, but I feel like I've got that back under control. Now for the food!
And where is the sun!?!?! We aren't dealing with the winter weather that many of you are dealing with, but I miss the sunshine. We catch glimpses of it for a few minutes at a time every few days. One day, it was shining, so I ran outside to stand in it for a few minutes, and it was raining! Yep. The sun was out and it was raining on me at the same time. Does that happen anywhere but the pacific northwest???
Much love to all, especially to those of you struggling with difficult family situations. Allie, I hate bullies, and I agree with others that your brother sounds like a bully. Why does he think he can talk to you like that?

Yesterday was not a good day. I tweaked something in my back on Wed, so had a delayed pity party yesterday. Cookies were involved. Lots of cookies..... I saw my chiropractor, she says I've irritated the disc fibres. Not sure exactly what that means, only know it hurts. I am finding new and wonderful ways to pick stuff up off the floor, because bending over is totally out of the question! My quads are getting some good work in because of that! I know it will pass, but wow! I can't even take a nice deep breath without checking with my body to make sure that I'm standing still and in a good position. And even then, I breathe in slowly so as to make sure my body is still okay with it. Ugh. Oh and brushing my teeth and washing my face in the morning is also interesting as I can't bend over without supporting my upper body with my elbows on the sink edge. I know it's not a serious condition and that it will pass, but I also know that I need to pay attention to what I'm doing, what makes it hurt, what makes it feel better (not much at this point!) and try to incorporate this into my life on an ongoing basis. Needless to say, the gym has been put on hold and will be for a few more days yet. I may try some gentle cardio in a week or so. I have another chiro appointment next week so we shall see how things are at that point.
I have been reading everything, hoping everyone that is having weather issues is staying safe and warm. Keeping those who have health issues or whose hubby's are dealing with health issues in my thoughts, hoping for positive outcomes. Also keeping those whose family members are having addiction issues in my thoughts, not an easy road for sure.
Allie, does your brother have addiction issues? He sure seems to be blowing hot and cold. You just said a few days ago that dinner with them was pleasant and now he's flipping out at you again. While I agree that showing Tom your dad's stock stuff may not have been the best idea, (my opinion only) that is still no reason for him to be yelling at you and calling you stupid. And his wife has no business butting in to your dad's affairs. Or telling you how to handle your dad's affairs. Your brother needs to pull his head out of his *kitten* and either constructively help or get the he!! out of your way. Sorry, rant over. You seem like a really nice lady who has had some huge challenges thrown her way. You have been dealing with them with grace and patience and I wish that your brother would try to understand that you don't need his issues on top of what you've already been handed. {{{HUGS}}}3 -

Katla, speaking of picking your own name…after my daughter was grown, I decided to get rid of my ex’s last name that I had taken. So I decided to go with my mother’s maiden name as I always like it and I could keep the same initials. I liked that I picked a new name for myself but still kept a family name. When I remarried, I wasn’t going to change my name once again as that would have been my 4th last name. I’ve never really liked my first name. It’s Terry and I’m not a Theresa. But I stuck with it.
Rita, good for you going for a walk to improve your mood. Glad DH decided to set up an appointment
Karen, It must be fun interacting with the little ones. I think it doesn’t matter if you are good at something or not. the idea is to enjoy yourself.
Felicia, WTG girl with the exercise. It is certainly understandable that your world was turned upside down for a little while after your sister died. I’m sure she would want you to carry on and get back on track. So your DH is changing jobs. Was he looking? When does it start?
Well that’s it for now. Going to finish my salad and then do some walking around the building.

Hi Ladies,
I didn't do my full workout today as after the first 15 minute segment my muscles were burning. I opted instead to take a brisk 30 minute walk. I also decided to buy some much needed workout wear. Now I'm ready for tomorrows workout which is 30 minutes of stretching/yoga. Decided to forego pork chops for dinner and went with pasta and light marinara. DH was all for the pasta, so that worked out well. Went to the lab and got my blood drawn. Now my arm is sore. I check in tomorrow. Have a great night.

Allie - I agree with what's been said about your constant contact with TomCat and even his family. While what I say is IMHO, you are setting yourself up by letting him know anything about your father's estate. None of that absolutely none, is TomCat's business. I think most of us would like to know you have made a clean break from him. Staying in contact with him is dragging the divorce out, because dragging his feet is to his advantage. While it is known you love the dogs you had to eave with him, you are his 'dog sitter/walker' - something he doesn't have to do for himself. I'm sure you love your FnL (again assuming he is TomCat's father. He won't be once you are divorced either ... but you continue going to feed him, again something TomCat is letting you do - Clean break, it's not like he won't be fed if you don't show up. One or both of you need to tell him about the pending divorce. Who is the Executor/Executrix of you Dad's Will? If you are tell your brother (and especially his wife - who doesn't have a dog in this fight) to back the "kitten" off. If the things such as the guns were specifically left to one or the other then that person gets them. If not, you both have an equal share, you can take the ones you want, and give the remainder of them to your brother. What he does with them afterwards are his. But normally property is not divided until Probate is closed, to make sure creditors are paid and money owed to the estate is collected. This means, at least where I live an ad has to be taken out to run in the local paper is run 4 weeks once a day showing whoever is the executor/executrix so this will be done. You can also contact the by phone or provide them with written proof that his has died. And they either owe you money or you owe them. Things that are secured should be paid off first before any unsecured debt. They cannot make you pay anything not secured and if the money is used up. They can't push for either of you to pay your Dad's bills. It really isn't a requirement in some states to actually go through probating a Will, especially if there are no debts. Your attorney ought to be able to guide you through the process (maybe for a nominal fee), then you don't have to continue having your brother add to the stress of going through a divorce at the same time. Taking off the added stress.

Oooh just got back from Fred Meyers! Spent $35.91 (to make 7 more days meals), and had $28.70 in coupons savings! That's 52% in total savings! I rock! And my dear husband snuck in a 6 pack of Coke! I bought a large container of Greek vanilla yogurt, yeah me!

At last my son has replied to my text. He's back at work on Monday. He says it is a "massive relief".
I dare say he's learnt his lesson for the time being, but there is a long road ahead.

Heather, what a relief! I'm sure he will be really good for a time, but as you say, it is a long road ahead.
Becca, woohoo! Love getting great paybacks with coupons! Don't think I've ever done that well, but have had some good days with them. Nice getting stuff for almost nothing once in awhile!
At work today, back is sort of behaving, mind you I am taking it easy! My boss is awesome and willing to let me be a bit of a slug. Fortunately this is not a busy time of the month.
Gotta go!
