Tracie- we love living in Arizona! Today we went to a parade! It is almost always sunny and we can go outside and enjoy our lives instead of being stuck inside for 4-6 months out of the year. Your dad is right about a different kind of beautiful. The mountains and cactus are quite wonderful to look at! We're looking forward to 20-30 years of enjoyment here.

Lanette - regarding the "flab", the thing that bothers me is that I never used to have as much flab. Recently it seems to be just multiplying. I just have to work more on loving the body I have.
Mary - what a neat festival. thanks for sharing.

Rita: Exercise often helps my mood, too. I hope your DH gets his hernia taken care of asap.
Heather: It is good news that your son will be back to work on Monday. :flowerforyou:
Dr Katie: I got an iphoneX while we were travelling. DS and DDIL have them and encouraged me to give one a try. I miss my old phone, but I've sent it to my diabetic DGD so that it can be used to help track her blood sugars. She has a sensor implanted that gives constant blood sugar readings and the phone automatically forwards the readings to her school nurse, her mom and her medical team. As to the new phone, I'm starting to get around within it. If push comes to shove and I'm not happy with my skills I'll take a class at the Apple "Palace" in downtown Portland.
Michele currently in FL: We watched the Olympic opening yesterday, too. There was lots of pomp, and a partial miracle for Korea. By combining their athletes into a unified team they've taken an important step. The event I watched was curling. I haven't seen much of that in years and enjoyed watching. :flowerforyou:
Barbie: I watched curling with my DSIL yesterday. The Korean pair won the match against the American brother and sister. I remembered seeing curling on TV as a child, but that was a long time ago.
DSIL & DBIL will be here again tonight and are leaving for home in the morning. Later tomorrow I will have a riding lesson, the first since my teacher's Christmas break. I was sick and didn't have enough energy to ride for quite a while & then we were travelling so I've been away from the stable for a very long time. I haven't been to yoga in over two weeks, either. Next week I'm hoping to get back into my groove.

Michele - having dealt with being heavy all my life, did a lot of research. While you can get better muscle tone, which will give some appearance of spot reduction, anything that touts "reduce" a particular area of your body is bogus. However, you can reduce some overall body fat by building muscle--you ought to get your body fat percentage checked. Bet money with all your exercise, you're close to low normal already. Anything under that can be hazardous to your health. This is actually a really good article on body fat percentages.https://www.oxygenmag.com/fat-loss/the-fit-womans-guide-to-body-fat-9235
Edit: the reason I was interested was because I had lost so much weight so fast when I went in the military I was down to about 11% body fat (90 pounds in 90 days - I was 19, and stupid). And I kept fainting the first couple weeks in basic training. They found out why when they tested me, and made me start eating more. Thereby beginning a cycle that still tortures me.2 -

So looking at my scarf and place mats, they totally clash! Never looked at them next to each other! They are far enough apart to blend I suppose!
Texted with an artist who is in the Whidbey island rock group, and he's painting me a rock with a Navy anchor, and our names. He does a really cool job. He was doing a free giveaway on the group site, so I put my name in saying I have three Navy sons and a retired Chief! I didn't win the giveaway, didn't have enough LIKES on my posting, but he did message me saying he had an idea to make me a Gossett family rock. So it will be a nice rock to display proudly. It won't have middle sons wife's name on it. I know she's a Gossett but I wanted it to be just our rock. Hopefully she won't be hurt by it. She is gaga over anything Disney, so I'm thinking if I get an artist to do one up for her alone, it will make up for it.
Okkkkk, just had a scary morning! Husband getting really dizzy, getting sick. So I just called the EMTs and took him to the hospital in Seaside. Followed them, just wanted him to be monitored from point a to b. When I got there he was just getting situated, the doctor comes in after a bit, looks at him and says, "you're really yellow". So a symptom of jaundice we've never seen before, the dizziness. So off to Portland he went. I doubt a liver doctor will be able to see him tonight, but tomorrow. I told him to call me this evening. Like our other jaundice episodes, I stay at home until he tells me to drive in. Usually he needs an ERCP, but he just had on 1-24-18, last month. His surgery was to be on 3-14, but he is moving that date up! Poor guy, he is so strong, but he was fighting the dizzy spells. The anti nausea medicine would wear off and I would bug the nurses. I'm glad I canbe his voice sometimes. Right now though, he is just settling in, answering questions.
So on the way home I stopped off and got chips, sour cream and a tomato, and because I am feeling a bit overwhelmed, a four packet of apple fritters. I have already had one, and will make up a small nacho plate later on. I am on autopilot right now, and the fritter sugar has made my splitting headache go away.
Please send me good thoughts.

Hello my wonderful sisters. Have done well today except just being cold. Charlie has turned it up to 74 but I am still cold even though I am wrapped up in my huge double layer throw. I think it all leads back to my index finger that I have to use in typing on either my phone or iPad.i know I can use my right hand but when you are left handed, you use your left hand. It's just not natural fo use your right hand even of it makes you feel better. Actually I use my right hand to type if the letters are on the right side. The only thing I have picked up today that is not cold is a paper towel. Remote control, phone, blood pressure cuff, everything. All cold.
Ok, the railing. It has to be set in concrete. I will call him Monday and remind him that we still need to be scheduled.
As far as the fall. I don't think it can be considered a fall. What I grabbed was not a good support and it fell on the ground so I also went to the ground. I had no injuries or strains. I am fine.m
Michelle, I don't think I have ever read that you are down on yourself. You have so many other wonderful traits I hope you see those and don't let that belly fat define yourself.
As far as my name, I emailed MFP and am waiting on them letting me back to me. This name is weird. There is no connection of this name to who I am.
My 16 year old grand daughter wore her prom dress t their churches Father and Princess dance tonight. I was surprised at Ellie. She just wore one of her school dresses. But Trinity is beautiful. I am proud of her. She knew how much money she had, looked on A,Avon, found and ordered a dress, didn't have enough money to buy new shoes so she went to Goodwill. I'll try to post a picture of her.
Here's my girls. Well I don't know why they inserted the picture way up there. But there they are . As you can see, they love each other and enjoy being there together. In another picture, Trin is letting her 11 year old sister try her shoes on
Love you all. Joyce, Indiana6 -
Hey Ladies. I just recently turned 51 in January. I've struggled with weight for most of my adult life. I've tried everything and was successful with losing but then I get bored or frustrated and I go off the diet and gain back more weight than I lost. I am currently 219 and back in October I had a total knee replacement surgery done so I've been very limited. Because of my knee my movement has been limiting and the last three years is where Ive gained the most. But in the last year I've gained 30 pounds alone. I am tired all of the time, I am post menopausal. I want to feel good, sleep good and know that my heart and mind will be healthy for a long time. I'm scared to death that I am not going to be successful. So any support is much appreciated. Thanks.8

Dave sent his first successful text today. Bless his sweet heart. Proving 71 year olds can still learn new things!
There were several reasons why I went with the 8 instead of the X. The number one reason is that I couldn’t justify the extra cost, especially in light of the other money we are spending. Secondly, the promotion was for a free 8 regardless of whether I got an 8 or an X for the other phone. I thought it only fair that they match.
Speaking of that dang phone, it caused me all kinds of grief today. I left home early this morning to drive to Powder Springs to watch my grandson play Upward basketball and my granddaughter cheer for yet a different team. Since I was so close, I decided to visit my mother’s cousin in ICU in Marietta. I pulled out my phone to show her sister pictures of Baby Foot and Oofo flip flops when we were lamenting our winter cracked heels and laid it on the counter instead of putting it back in my purse. I was already on 285 when my car told me my phone wasn’t connected. I had to head back to the hospital, navigate the parking garage, the huge hospital, etc again just to retrieve my phone. I was hurrying to make the 20-minute window so I didn’t have to pay for parking again and made that by the skin of my teeth. The good news is I got to navigate several flights of stairs not just once but twice! I finally got home around 6.

Becca- sending good wishes and prayers for your DH. My BIL has the episodes with his liver and has those procedures. Always hard but in the end it makes him feel better. Bless your heart, take care of yourself and keep us posted.

I just stumbled upon this board and because there are so many posts, I skipped to the end, but I think I want to go back and read some more. I have almost 70 pounds to lose. I didn’t have knee surgery but I too am tired all the time. My whole body is stiff and I have had a lot of problems with my feet/ankles but determined to get out and walk at least 4 days a week. I’m looking to make some changes in my health and it appears as though coming here is the first step. ❤️10 -
Welcome new members if you come back here every day and read the posts, log your food each day, learn something new each day about health and fitness, and seek every opportunity to be active, you will be amazed at what will happen in your life. I came here at age 62 after a lifetime of struggling with weight, and one day at a time, have made changes in my attitude and behaviour that have resulted in losing weight and keeping it off. Find that new lifestyle and your future self will thank you.
I'm taking a break from riding my exercise bike and watching the Olympics.

Wendy, thanks for clarifying about the fake frozen fanta. Think I’ll try it tomorrow.
Lisa, I’m sure you are feeling better having set up food delivery for your son.
Becca, sorry to hear about your DH. Sending healing thoughts your way. Can’t wait to see pics of the rocks.
Joyce, such beautiful girls. I can see there love for each other. I can see why you are proud.
Michele, I get where you are coming from about wanting to tone up. I have so much excess weight that just hangs that it’s discouraging. Also, when they were taking out the stitches from my hysterectomy surgery the wound opened up again. Because of infection they don’t sew you back up but you have to let it heal from the insides out. As you might imagine, I’ve got one heck of a big ugly scar. No way I’ll ever look good in my stomach area again. I hate every time I look in the mirror at it. Wish I liked to exercise but I don’t so struggle with that all the time which doesn’t help.
Welcome to all the newbies and ((hugs)) to those with struggles.
Had a good/bad day today. Got some exercise in this morning by shoveling snow for about a half hour then came in and did some work with my kettlebells. It was downhill from there though. DH and I went out for dinner at a new Indian restaurant. I’m no lover of Indian food so struggled finding something I liked. Found a couple of things that weren’t too spicy or had curry in it. Hate curry. But DH enjoyed it as I knew he would. Guess that’s why we say we’re Mutt and Jeff. Had two pieces of chocolate cake this evening. At this rate I don’t think I’ll be making my goal by Monday. Oh well at least I did get some exercise today.
Now don’t laugh. You know how I’ve told you how I’m losing my hair? Well someone at work has thinning hair too. She has this helmet thing with a red laser light that she bought. It didn’t work for her but has given it to me to try. I’ve heard of red light therapy before and so am giving it a try. Got nothing to lose and maybe I’ll get lucky. I feel a little foolish sitting with this helmet on for 25min and DH was in hysterics when he saw me but I felt it was free so worth the try. I never would have spent the $300 on the machine but with it costing me nothing I’ve got nothing but time to lose.
Well I’m beat so signing off for today.

Happy Saturday!
I want to clear up a misconception. We went to a dance. My husband danced. But he cannot dance! Lol I applaud his effort.
Much love to all. Praying for your hubby, Becca. Is he at OHSU?
Welcome to the new ladies.
