Edit to add: is there a way to move this to the challenges forum?
Let's look into it.
ETA If I have started the thread in the wrong place, I may be able to move it. But i can not see where it'd need to be moved too. Is "challenges" in the Fitness and Exercise thread, it be it elsewhere?
ETAA i see where now. I don't see that i can move it without the help of the mods. The groups home page says the challenge is found in the Fitness and Exercise thread, so there i put it. Change is good. here we shall stay. we'll be fine.
ya'll just bookmark it.
Making more work fot me....grumble grumble......lol
I haven’t a clue what category this thread is in. I view the forums in two ways - recent threads and those I have bookmarked. Anything else? Meh.

04/01/18 - 8 Miles - 9:59 Pace
Big Hairy Audacious Goal: Sub 4 hours in Pittsburgh 2018!
Official Marathon PR: 4:11:28
Next Races (more as I find them):
04/07/18 - Achilles 9.3 Challenge (10k and 5k back to back)
05/06/18 - Pittsburgh Marathon - aiming for sub four hours.
05/12/18 - Glacier Ridge 50k Trail Ultra (I must hate myself)
2020 - Disney World Dopey! (if can raise funds)
So went looking for a trail to try my new Alta Lone Peak 3.5s on. Decided I would take an easy pace since I did not know how my feet would react to new shoes, the 0 drop, and all that. Well, I headed out to the power line trail that I had hoped would be good...
Well, turns out I could not follow the trail very long, little less than a mile actually. After that, I was back on roads, but I did try to run in the grass as much as I could in the shoes. Circled back in after about 8 miles.
Feet are fine, shoes seem to fit well and I did not slip and slide at all on the muddy trail, but the shoes do not look like new anymore. I sprayed them off and stuck them on the shoe dryer for now. I will have to run in them a couple more times if I can before the 50k Ultra, but I think they will work well.6 -

Yes! I thought I've shortened a few colds by running the gunk out. No fever or anything, just working through the stuffies.0 -
Aiming for 200 km.
And some cartwheels again.7 -

April 1 - 3.28km walk/run6
-
Was almost going to take a rest day but then decided that’s not the best way for me to start the month. So did a nice and easy 3.1mi4 -
I have no basis for said goal.... but my goal is going to be 20 miles.8
-
9.29km today. Fitbit is a bit off when it comes to my stride.

Had a look for Jack Daniels' Olympic cadence study. It showed the elites ran at 180 spm AND MORE.
180 is not the magic number.
At those speeds, of course their cadence is higher.
It's an exercise in frustration to expect your daily runs to be 180.6 -
Newbie here and running my first 5k in June!13
-
I'm going to forgo the mileage goal and just aim for workout consistency. This past week was *kitten*.
April goal: run and lift
Ultimate goal: Get ready for, train, and finish Las Vegas Marathon in 4:45.6 -
I'm back. I stopped running mid-January due to terrible beyond belief morning sickness. I'd hoped this would be a triumphant second trimester feel good return, but it's not.
((TMI warning))
After spotting for weeks, then a scare with a ton of blood, I was diagnosed with a molar pregnancy which happens to about 1 in 1,000 pregnancies. (Technically I had "fetus coexisting with partial molar degeneration of the placenta, which is even more rare). In my overachiever fashion, the size of the molar was "impressive" according to several doctors. At 13 1/2 weeks, there was no chance the baby would survive to viability and I was at risk of hemorrhage, plus the molar can cause cancer-like growth and require chemo in about 0.5% of partial molar cases. I had emergency surgery the next day, lost 2 liters of blood, and I've spent the last 3 weeks resting and recovering.
I'm still weak from the blood loss, but taking iron twice a day is helping. I haven't seen my doctor yet to get the okay to start running again, but I went for an illegal jog the other day and felt good. Three weeks ago I could barely do once around our cul de sac which holding onto my husband's arm, but I managed about two miles at a slow pace.
My mental/emotional recovery will be much slower, but I'm anxious to get my running shoes back on because I know that'll help my mood.
Goal for this month: get the doctors okay and complete 20 miles34 -
I'm in! We have a 5k on Saturday and then I'm revving up for a 10K mid-May.3

April 1st and I'm four pages behind...sounds true lol.
Ran the JaJa Trail Marathons today, 4th place female, top ten overall after a long day of hunting for books in river banks under bridges, down dead drops and rotting tree trunks. This Barkley impersonator was wicked, would absolutely run it again if I were invited back!

Oh @eponine1984 so very sorry. That must’ve been a very scary, worrying, and exhausting time.
Keep running and take it easy - your body has been through a lot.
Definitely hugs being sent from over here.1 -
I am going to go for 100 again this month - I don't think I will have any travel or anything that will get in my way!
2 -
So I’m not sure I’m going to set an actual DISTANCE goal this month. I’m not great with goals, oddly I tend to rebel against them.
But I am making myself stick to my marathon training plan, and it’s going well. Plus some cross-training.
I’m heading to Lithuania for a few days mid-April. I might check out a running tour of the city, but the bulk of my trip will be dance workshops and parties so I’ll be active for sure!!!
Goal for the month then is keep active. In miles and degrees C.6 -
polskagirl01 wrote: »Hmm... 175k maybe? I set that a bit low, mainly because mileage is not my main goal - getting to the start line healthy is more important.
Additional goals:
- Strength training 3x/week (nothing impressive, just my little circuit on our weight machine)
- More bike rides (anything this month would count as "more", so maybe 1x/week for longer than taking son to school)
Upcoming races:
4/8 Lublin 10k
5/13 Lublin Marathon
Need to pick a summer trail HM, maybe in the Tatry Mts
Count the bike ride for the week done. 30 minutes thoroughly wiped me out. In the fall I remember going right up those very same hills and riding on for twice the distance and thinking of it as a nice, enjoyable ride. Uggggh.
I decided to do my long run tomorrow, since today is basically a nation-wide water battle day and I thought a girl by herself in running clothes might be too much of a target. Didn't want to be miles from home and get drenched. Plus we have lunch plans with friends and I didn't want to get up early on a holiday.3 -
0401-5.3k Total-5.3k Goal-80k
Just a short run during a business trip. Fell a tad short of my goal two months in a row, will try to stick to it this month. However, Aprils are always the craziest months of the year in my line of work, so we'll see what happens.3 -

Err? What is this nationwide water battle?0 -
Goal for April is 25 miles.

Second day in April and we're getting pelt-you-in-the-face then melt-on-the-ground snow to kick off the week. The Monday morning coffee folks were a skeleton crew this morning. But I have some serious grocery shopping and meal prep to do after work, so I had to get the snowy, slushy, yucky run out of the way early!
Happy Monday!
4/1: 7 miles
4/2: 4 miles
April miles: 11
Goal miles: 100
Upcoming Races:
April 29: New Jersey Marathon 4-person relay
May 20: Watershed 10k trail race

@eponine1984 Wow, that sounds so scary. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that, and it takes some strength to share something so difficult on an open forum. I hope you get cleared soon so you can get some mood-boosting endorphins. :hugs:1
