Machka, What good news of continued progress. I think of you and your husband often.1

(((Machka & Hubby))) Great news!
Kelly ~ Such a happy family. Joaquin is a cutie! What kind of research does you daughter do?
Heather ~ Glad you are feeling better. Can't imagine why the doctor gave you a med that had those effects. Read your reviews on Amazon and they are all great. Have not started the book yet because I have to finish a book my friend gave me (I am a very slow reader).
Oakie ~ Sounds like you have a great group of friends. The upcoming patio party sounds wonderful.
Must get off the computer and do some housework.

Okie: We used to live in a town in Oregon with a Crawfish Festival, Tualatin,OR. I haven't had a good meal of crawfish since we moved here, 20 years ago. :grumble: My family used to go Crawdad fishing along a meandering river in the Willamette Valley. Dad used a crawfish boil, but it wasn't the hot spice version that I've had in restaurants. He used pickling spice instead. Good memories.
Machka: I'm so happy for you and your DH that he got his trach out! He knew you're his wife, too! Excellent progress!
I'm headed upstairs on a mercy mission. DH needs another cup of coffee. have a great day!

Machka, I cried like a baby reading your post to my husband this morning. Wonderful, terrific, hopeful news. And in my opinion an answer to many prayers.
Big hugs and continued prayers.

Machka, wonderful news about your husband!!
Have any of you ladies had the 3D mammogram? My understanding is that the 3D is about the same compression, but you have to tolerate it for about 10 minutes. Due to tissue density & a prppensity for cysts, a regular mammo is already pretty agonizing...not sure if I could tolerate 10 minutes of it.
Thanks for anyfeedback.

Katla Thanks for the info o D3. I have tried it, up to 5000 iu but no changes for me.
Lisa Stay cool in West Texas/New Mexico! I am about 70 miles west of El Paso. Will you be coming down route 9?
Barbie in NW Washington I am an introvert like you. I think it contributes to my depression.
I tried reaching out to my sibs and my kids for two months now. They reply with very short answers and do not seem to appreciate the effort of connecting. So back to just DH, my dogs, and me.

KJ you look young enough to be Joaquin’s mom, not grandma! What an adorable cutie he is, and this native Chicagoan is always heartwarmed to see Cubbies clothes!
Wendy Thanks so much for the photo. What a gift you have given her. Tears formed in the eyes.
Machka I don’t have words to express how happy I am to hear the progress.

Husband is home. Than heavens.
Someone, Margaret maybe you?, was researching and working on getting adequate sleep. How is that going?
I’m getting worried about mine as the hot flashes returned about one year ago and I get quantity of sleep ( often ten hours from when I lay my head down til I arise) but rarely quality sleep. My sleep is disturbed at least hourly- and the past few weeks I’m up several hours in the wee hours going through several hot flashes ( or one never ending seeming wave like flash). I’m worried that it is effecting my health and everything as it has continued for so long without abatement. I don’t see the Dr again until October - but she wasn’t concerned when I mentioned it last October.
Kidd Kirby is sneezing all over the place today, and he had just about recovered from his surgery a couple of weeks ago. That darn cat just can’t catch a break!
I goofed yesterday and flooded our garage! Long uninteresting story, but then I ran around like a chicken with her head cut off cleaning out and drying before DH got home so I would not have to confess to DH. Anyone else feel the need to cover up their bloopers? Oh, I’ll likely eventually tell him, but while the memory is fresh, probably not. Of course if it were something important, I wouldn’t keep it to myself.

Hi my friends. I had a lovely weekend. DD#2 and her BF came for the weekend. They cooked dinner both Friday and Saturday and took me out to brunch on Sunday. Brunch was an early mothers day gift from her BF. That was a really nice treat.
They went to a movie Saturday afternoon and dropped off the Easter basket stuff at DD#1's house. Her BF was nice and said thank you, but DD#1 yelled at them for not calling first. No thank you, nothing else, so they left. She hasn't even thanked me and there was a large check in there for them. I finally sold all the rentals so I gave both girls some money. I just don't know what to think, but I'm not reaching out to her again. I'll send the appropriate birthday etc cards, but that's it.
It is gorgeous here today so I hope to get a walk in. I lost 5# during April, which was my goal. So although I'm still way over my lowest, things look to be going better now.
Well I need to write an exam, so I'm off. Enjoy the day and be well. Meg from sunny Omaha.8 -
It's not my nature but I'm bummed. Every morning I start the day with a long walk with Ella. It's a pleasure and today as I was getting dressed to walk, my husband said he wanted to use my car. He had left his windows down in his truck and the seats were all wet. So....... I said sure but I'd ride with him and Ella and I would walk home. Well, Ella started happy whining about half way to town. She anticipates our walks and was anxious to get out of the car. My DH started yelling...."shut the f**k up Ella" . On and on about my ****ing dog. I asked him to stop the car and I got out and walked with Ella. She was shaking and I was pissed. He's a curmudgeon and it's hard. He blows up and gets upset says inappropriate things and then wants it to be over....but I'm upset..... this pattern drives me batty. He CAN control his anger........when he wants to control it.
Machka, loved your update about your husband's connecting words....and so wonderful to see your activity update. I admire you and think of you often.
Barbie, I'm so glad I stumbled and found this group. Thanks for making it happen. I'll leave in a couple weeks for summer in Alaska but will think about all you gals when I'm gone and will reconnect in the fall.
It helped me to vent about my morning.... Have a good day gals.

Hi ladies,
Lisa, indulging is a good way to rest your mind.
Rebecca, I was your grazing buddy yesterday. You’re right, tomorrow’s another day.
Dana, good for you staying within your goal when you went out to lunch with your friends.
Wendy, glad to hear you are fine. My heart goes out to your student accomplishing the exercise. She will remember that always.
NYKaren, sounds like your place is coming together. You will feel better once everything is settled. I like to wait a little while after I move before I do things like hang pictures. I like to get the feel of a place first.
Heather, so happy to hear you are feeling better. That’s a hard way to meet maintenance weight but congrats anyway. Great idea about reaching out to that magazine. Hope it is fruitful for you.
Okie, your events sound like a lot of fun.
Machka, you brought tears to my eyes when your DH said “my wife”. I’m so happy to hear things are still progressing. I’m sure he is much more comfortable with the tube out.
Kelly, yeah grandma camp! Jaoquin’s hat is adorable. I think it fits his personality.
Allie, you have a very busy day. Glad to hear the inspection went well.
Kate, congrats on being a “loser”.
Pip, love the picture. Makes me want to crawl back into bed.
Rita, and US!!!
Rye, have you tried soy bean. I had a couple of tablespoons of the dried ones on my cereal in the morning and it cut my hot flashes in half.
Meg, how disappointing not to get even a thank you. You are wise to pull back. No one needs that abuse. Snoopy dance for reaching your April goal.
Betsy, what a hard way to start your day. Verbal abuse is like being punched with every word. You were wise to get out of the situation.
Still had snow this morning when we left for work. So very depressing. But suppose to get warmer as the week goes on. I’m anxious to get out in my yard and do some clean up. We also have to finish painting the porch this year. That’s my main goal for this summer, but I’d also like to rip up the carpet on the stairs and stain the steps to match the wood floors. So much I want to do. Hope surgery isn’t going to interfere with my plans. We will see tomorrow. I’ve had surgery before and not been this nervous so not sure what I’m so nervous about this time. I’m just really hoping to not have to have surgery (my co-workers are too!).
Well that is about it for now. I think of you all daily and am so glad I found this group.

Good morning.
We had a nice weekend. It was cold, but I managed to work in the garden for a few hours and hubby and I puttered in the greenhouse -- always a warm spot to be on a chilly spring afternoon. We went a little crazy with tomatoes again this year, after telling ourselves that we would tone it down. Our children just roll their eyes.
My oldest has an interview for a job Tuesday afternoon. He's not feeling really positive about it because it's not something he would normally want to do, but at least it would be a job.
My weight has been holding steady even though I haven't been diligent about my diet. I've been on a potato chip kick for a few weeks now. Thankfully, I've been handling it okay, but I need to let it go.
Someone approached us this weekend about buying our pick up and 5th wheel. Boy did that get us going. We started shopping for new trailers/RVs -- we were going to go with something smaller but the older boys put up a minor fuss. I guess they aren't yet ready to stay home when we go camping -- so we will still need a 5-6 person unit. That lead us to thinking about a suitable tow vehicle, and then I started a search for the perfect electric car. And so much time wasted. But no matter.
Should be a relatively quiet week at work this week because students and faculty are preoccupied with final exams. Then in another week, students will be gone, and the week after, faculty will be gone, and then summer hours begin!!
All the best to everyone on this Monday morning, a little too cold for me.

Well had an appointment this morning. Being that my calcium is high, my vitamin D is low, the doctor wants my parathyroid scanned and the parathyroids that are overactive to be removed. I guess it's a simple surgery. I am also getting scheduled for a colonoscopy. Some of the symptoms of hiperparathyroidism is that your joints ache, you are more often, tired, foggy brained. Pretty much a lot of what I feel!
So the doctor was happy I'm taking vitamin D tablets, but she wants me on a ketone type diet. Drink more water, and take in less sugar.
My brain is tired, my stomach hurts (from eating too much yesterday most likely), and processing good leads me to the bathroom. This day is getting better and better!

I approve of this statement. For that reason, my hubby and I have one set of sheets. Wash, dry, and immediately put them back on. He thinks I'm a sheet snob. I say, AMEN!

KJ - I agree with the person who said you could be his mum! What a smiler!
Really cold today here, so DH didn't go to the cricket. That is a big deal. His friend has gone home as well.
I did 200 bonus calories on the recumbent bike.
I've booked lunch at the local pub with my friend that I had to postpone yesterday. It's next Monday, which is a Bank Holiday over here. The day before is DH and my 15th meeting anniversary. Can't believe it has been so long.
He is buying me a new fleece jacket to take to the far north of Sweden on our cruise and I have got him a new Under Armour vest top for his exercising. Plus posh biscuits and chocolate truffles. I've ordered the North Face jacket in large, but I may have to exchange it for a medium. I want to be able to put layers underneath it and it is very slim cut. Marine blue. I am slim, but have a wide back. I hate having to send things back, but it's free.
We haven't decided what to do for the day.
Haven't heard anything new on the buyer's situation.

Finally sleepy so time to sign off and snooze a few hours. Tomorrow will make bi-monthly trek to Trader Joe's in Medford, a 3+ hr drive but worth it for the things I can't get here.
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD.
Yep. One of the best things about moving here is that there is a Trader Joe's about 30 minutes from our house and 10 minutes from my work. I try to go at least once a month. The last time I was there, I bought a seasoning called "Everything but the bagel." It's the toppings from an everything bagel. I also bought gluten free bagels, which are generally nasty, and some cream cheese, and for the next week, I had half a bagel with cream cheese and the spice, liberally sprinkled, and it almost felt like I was eating a yummy everything bagel. The boys love their island salsa.
Enjoy your shopping trip!

Good day.
And he was a bit chatty this morning (still mostly random phrases), so I asked him his name, and he kind of almost said it.
The nurse was standing there, and said to him, "OK, who is she? Introduce us" (and he pointed at me).
My husband did a "This is" gesture with his hand and said, "She's my .... (and then he fought with it for a moment) ... my wife!"
Yes!!
This brought tears to my eyes! This is so encouraging!
