What nobody tells you about losing weight

That's I'd development the opposite problem with boots. Instead of the struggle to find any (extremely rare) that would even go over my calf, I now have the issue of some of them being too loose over my calf. Unless they have some built in structure, they end up sliding down - not a good look, nor comfortable.
Watch bands have become another issue. Turns out I have tiny wrists, so even women's watches I have to wear on the smallest settings, some are still too big.7 -

I've noticed that now that my face is slimmer, more features tend to stick out. My nose looks GIANT to me now because it doesn't have fat cheeks to fill in the extra room.
I was the recipient of some nasty neck wrinkles. You know like The Simpsons characters in the seniors home? I have that now. I have no wrinkles anywhere else. Just right in the middle of my neck. Ewww!
Those will go away over time, I think... my neck wattle did - thank heaven.

The mid loss jiggles! That when you lose weight, everything gets all jiggly at first. Good thing that goes away, eventually, but why must I look worse before I look better....ugh.23

Yaaassss. It's like everything is sent to the belly for final processing. From the top of your head to the bottom your toes everything goes directly to the belly before it departs the body. I can remember the number of rolls and they just hang loose like a goose. The fat gets its' marching papers and leaves for some final destination. They say it's exhaled as your breath, so it's traveling to parts unknown. I want to send it to those who really need it and struggling to keep weight on. An exchange program. MFP should start one. My Foods and My Fat...take it, you can have all of it. I'm not losing weight, I'm releasing it because I have no intention of ever finding it again.26

Having to re-tie the gym shorts a bit tighter or they fall down. Embarrassing but it's a feel-good moment too.
Then there's the search for the leather punch when the belt runs out of holes... or having to buy a new one. Definitely feel-good!
And shirts, Hawaiian & Guayaberas, cover a lot of past sins but it's nice to fit the next smaller size.
Wasn't ready for my base calorie rate to creep down with the pounds. That was frustrating more than the implied compliment but I expect it will help keep me losing those pounds. :Arrrrgh!:
Treating the whole process like recovery helps too - from all the things that drive me to eat in the first place.
This is me all day! Treating it like recovery is super important for me2 -
When I am admiring my trim new torso, pull on a pair of shorts and loose skin looks like a roll of fat. I pinch it there is hardly anything inside and I can smooth it out so it is mostly inside the shorts, but it still bugs me. Supposedly that will go away slowly.11

The belly flap, still better than the fat. Doing planks is the worst, I look down and there it is! In all it's glory! Just hanging down like a sad sack of soggy kittens.30 -

This is why I love to read these forums! Nice to know I’m not the only one and we are all dealing with this together, thanks for sharing16 -

Funny thing, in a few Mediterranean countries, like the one I was living in until last month, the idiomatic phrasing for losing and gaining weight is 'giving' and 'taking' kilos. It reminded me of the exchange program you mentioned because the phrasing to me sounds like some kind of weight-loss Law of Conservation of Energy wherein total fat in the universe remains constant and cannot be destroyed, only transformed or transferred. Coincidentally, as I was losing my weight my husband was gaining. On the night of our going away party before moving overseas some friends I hadn't seen in a while told me, "You look great! You gave kilos!" to which I replied "I have them to him [my husband]."19 -
That losing weight can actually be stressful. Clothes will no longer fit right. For anyone that hates shopping, such as myself, you will have to brave the stores. Those shirts you had for the past 10 years will now be way too large. And don't even think you'll find that favorite sweater ever again in a smaller size.
And that some ignorant people will make outlandish assumptions. When I first started losing weight, my mother was terminally ill. I was out on medical leave to take care of her. I found out later that some woman I never even spoke to was making the assumption that I had surgery during that time, and I was never even overweight enough that I'd come close to qualifying for surgery.

Nobody told me that my wife who swore that she hated the gym and cutting calories would be at the gym and cognizant of her calories and now is lifting heavy weights and proud of it. Oh ! And she today confessed that she actually enjoys going to the gym. What !
All that because I inspired her she says by my commitment and dedication without forcing her to do it with me.41 -

But I'm a grad student, so I can get away wearing baggy clothes for a couple of years before I have to dress like an adult.14 -

I am returning to school so finish my degree....yep, the non-freshman dress code. Baggy sweats/running pants, baggy sweatshirt, socks with shower shoes. And every woman has one of two hair styles, it's up and don't care or down and don't care.12 -
@HDBKLM I like that analogy, I really do. Maybe you're familiar with 'speak to the mountain'. Ummm, I speak to the mountains of fat and I tell them where to goooo. Let them be removed from here to yonder place...like to the bottom of the sea and let my fat feed the fishes. Yes, I understand what you're saying and I like it. It makes so much sense - when synchronicity hits.8

Well, now that I have lost enough weight, my bras are loose around the back. It's tricky using the 3rd row of eyes to hook them (instead of the 1st row) while reaching behind me, i can't close the darn thing. now I have to close it in front then rotate it around to the back & then slide my arms into the straps. Annoying, & yet cool.

Ahhh, the disappearing boobs... Yep, for some reason the fat from boobs is quick to go, but stomach, nope somehow the stomach fat is just happy where it's at and doesn't like to leave - jerk!11 -

I have the opposite problem. My stomach is going down but the girls ain’t budging. Okay, not entirely true. I did lose an inch. But still. C’mon. GET SMALLER. At least to a normal, manageable size! (I might tell them that in the mirror). XD6 -

My other half has lost 3 stone after watching me calorie count for years. While he was very supportive of me it was important for him that I didn't impose my diet on him and let him eat what how and what he wanted until he decided himself that he needed too lose. We are now following a healthier lifestyle together.30 -

My boobs are disappearing and I'm already an A cup. I'm going to have to start wearing bralettes. But they look better, tbh. More curved and feminine.9 -

Wish mine were disappearing. Whenever I look at photos of me now all I see is boobs! Hard to look neat and trim and they make you hot! About 10lbs off my first target and they are hanging in (or down, I am 62) there.16 -

I have to share something funny about elderly women's boobs. My Mom (whom I miss dearly) always had a way of making everyone laugh. One day we were talking about boobs and she said something like "Years ago I had nice round boobs that were as perky as hamburger buns. But now As I age I just have 2 hot dog buns hanging off me."38 -
That women don't line up to date you I'm at a water park and was like, "why are all the girls not looking at me!" Note: if you're shy and chubby, you'll be shy and not chubby. Humble pie was served....40

That no matter what everyone tells you that you look good.. In your mind you'll always think you could look better.31

That there's more work when all of the weight releasing is done. Maintenance.20

I'm in bralettes, even better than looking better: they are cheap!!!!! Seriously, you can find them 4/$20 and cheaper all the time. When I had boobs I was lucky to find bras for $20 each12 -
That I’d actually grow attached to workout clothes. My trusty favorite workout pants might be worn today for the last time and then released to a new owner, because they’re falling off me and there’s no drawstring to tighten them. I kinda knew workout gear is clothing and clothing gets too big if you lose weight, but somehow I still didn’t realize these would get too big as well. Good thing the shirts can just hang on, I really like the tight yoga pants + loose tank top look.19
