Re in TX: It is good to see you posting here. :flowerforyou:
Pip: I'm guessing that you're a top employee. I hope they let you know that you're valued. Too many businesses don't do a good job with that. :flowerforyou:
Our dog goes to the groomer today, and I'm going to walk him up there. We jsut have him combed out and his nails done. DH will pick him up after he's been groomed. It isn't a long walk but it is long enough to get my metabolism kicked into gear.

to them, no, i take too long and thats due to being detail oriented which is what slows me down. so i am lowering my expectations to meet theirs which has speeded me up a bit... i have only had one time where i was off in all the time i've been here and thats when i broke my shoulder. other than that, its been planned/scheduled days off3 -
Kate UK- I, personally, am not offended by the balloon. I figure, other countries are going to call it like they see it. And I LOVE that about other countries. A different perspective is a good thing. For everybody. And every overinflated ego. that's all I will say (politically)! KJ

Michele--Yes I guess I mean bisq. My DGD wants to do a unicorn and this place didn't have one. I was surprised how differnent some of the colors came out after they were fired. It was fun and want to do it again, only drive to Kearney and try that place out.
Barbie--What a good friend you are. and I pray that all goes well and tests come back clean.
Machka--HUGS!!!!

Kate UK It's better to be disgusted by an offensive message than it is to quash expression of the offensive message. I applaud Freedom of Speech and the countries who protect it. It is one of our most important rights.2

Hello Ladies, new to My Fitness Pal. Only here two days and still figuring things out. I would love to lose 60 pounds and then go from there. My goal the first month is 5 pounds, I want to do this right, slowly so I don't put it back on. I'm incorporating the Plexus with this site and It's going pretty good. I started Plexus over 2 weeks ago and loving it. I look forward to our conversations and comments.

To all the new ones to the thread, welcome! We're glad you're here... as some of you have noted, just tell us what you'd like to be called, and some basic geography, and help us get to know you.
Lanette - Glad you liked this morning's post. I figure if someone who's on their fifth (and hopefully final!) house purchase can be confused, and I am on occasion, then others might find some clarification handy. This may be overweening pride on my part...
Pip - I'm sorry you're in that place where you aren't valued as you should be. Sorry I missed Kirby's birthday, too! Hope it was grand.
Heather and all who are discussing national values, freedom of speech, right to protest, etc. - I can only speak for myself. I think peaceful expression should be protected, and raised my right hand to defend those rights a century or so ago. I was a mere child when I went in the military and said, "I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic," I meant every word. Still do. I might point out that the framers of the Constitution did not believe that all enemies come from other countries. I know we agreed in this group that politics and religion are off limits, and my apologies for the violation. I just see it as a much bigger question than politics.
I rewrote that like six times, and am still not sure I said it in a way that won't cause offense. Again, I'm only speaking for myself.
Love y'all,
As always,

This is awesome! Just starting here, and checking this group out. I’m in serious need of some motivation, since I have around 70 lbs to lose to be at my best. I was on WW for many years, and the current program isn’t working well for me ☹️ Lost 30 lbs, only to gain it back.5

Barbie, I’m also from beautiful NW WA, and in my 60’s!3

Welcome to everyone who is new. Just join in the conversation. Don't worry about remembering everyone. There are topics to interest all of us and many topics that you may choose to ignore. I have been a part of this thread for a long time and have found the friendships and the learning helpful to me in all aspects of my life.
My friend that I took to the hospital yesterday has to stay an extra day for another procedure. She has finished with that and will be able to eat this evening and go home tomorrow. Unfortunately, my day tomorrow is so heavily scheduled that I have only two hours in the middle of the day when I can pick her up. Fortunately she has many friends and will be able to find someone to give her a ride. I have her wallet and some other personal items so I will either take them to the hospital later today or during my brief available time tomorrow. She won't know if the results of the biopsy for a few days.
Jake has had some unusual blood tests results over the last few months and will begin treatment tomorrow to attack what's wrong. He is scared but doing a good job of learning what he needs to about the treatment and not getting cranky with me. Part of the problem is that the meds and treatment may make him drowsy so I have to be available to drive and possibly be home with him after the treatment.
So far to make up for my sedentary day yesterday, I've walked over 13,000 steps with the dogs, worked in the yard for 30 minutes, and ridden the exercise bike for over 100 minutes. I feel much more like myself now.

HI Sisters, pouring with rain here this morning. Just girding myself to go outside to feed everyone. All of my plans for today have just been scuttled as daughter number two has just split up with her boyfriend and is suicidal. I am driving three hours to stay with her and try to help her find a place to live closer to her job, and get her car fixed etc, or bring her back home to live if nothing else works out...I have done this so many times for her. She has depression issues as well as some other mental problems. At least this time she is on the same island as me so I don't have to pay the large expense of travelling a car across on the ferry. Breaks my heart that she is hurt yet again. She chooses handsome cheating boyfriends time after time. She is 27 but is more like a 16 year old mentally. Well, off I go to get wet and then pack as I know I will be down there sorting this out for some days. Will have to find a campground to stay in, with a hot pool! Wendy10

England lost. I'm sorry for all those lovely people who invested so much of themselves in the result. So many crushed hopes.
DH is sad, but philosophical.

Thank you Margaret and Cathy and everyone else eating lower carb for sharing your stories. I used to think that to be successful with it, a person needs to do Atkins, but good to know that even cutting out added sugar and simple starches helps immensely.
My doc visit yesterday went well - fasting blood sugar was high when I took it first thing in the morning - 10 hr since last meal - but had blood drawn at 16 hours of no food so it had better be under 100, lol. She is testing the A1C to see if my sugar and cookie binges have really zapped me.
A good thing - I asked her if losing 5 lbs of belly fat would help the situation, since I'm at the top of the BMI for my height. She said since I do strength training and have been building muscle, the BMI isn't that accurate in my case. And it's good I'm building muscle because that's what burns glucose.
When I was out doing my Strong Women Stay Young this morning, I thought about that a lot and marveled that 20 minutes three times a week has had such a good impact on my health.
Mary - glad your daughter is getting better...whew!
Kate, appreciate your good thoughts about the US and your respect for the position of President. No matter who is in office, there will always be protestors. Seems our parents generation, and our own to some extent, remember what was at stake during WWII.
I found out the hard way to keep my opinions of whoever is in office to close friends. History has been good at making me look foolish for the past few decades, lol. I now say there's always something going on behind the scenes when the bigwigs get together and I believe in prayer! How's that for bending the rule of about discussing politics and religion all in one paragraph?
Wendy - love those horse pictures and wish I could be on the beach with you, my favorite place to be in the winter. Also you have the perfect eating plan for you - isn't that great? I always enjoy hearing what you are eating. Glad you got the doc to order progesterone cream, I've read Lee's book and was actually using progesterone (Emerita) during the final years before menopause. Did it help? Not sure, possibly, but my symptoms could have been much worse so I think it did.
Rebecca - I liked hearing about your walk in Oak Harbor, such a neat town! Getting to know everyone. Hopefully your DH will relax when you are out enjoying yourself and making friends. And $6!! Do you ever hear anything about your neighbor back in Oregon? I think it was Prudence? Didn't she end up in assisted living? Stretching my brain here, lol.
Barbie - you were such an angel to take your friend to the hospital like that. You are on the move so much during the day, I'll bet you did get antsy! Hope she's OK.
Lisa - love your blog this morning, so informative!!! Hopefully not closing on a house for a long, long time but I'm saving this information just in case. Did anyone ever tell you that you should be a writer? LOL
Heather - good job with the continuing cleanout! Hope the boiler man makes it soon. Sorry to hear about your DH's friend, what a nice gesture to write a letter to his wife. Hugs all around.
OK better close now and get something done.
Lanette

It was a fun day! Nope I have not heard from Prudence. The letter I sent came back as no one by that name at her address.😕 I hope she is in one of the assisted living places in Astoria, or Seaside👍.
Your brain stretched just fine friend!
Love

On Political Issues: I feel that many of you ladies have made your beliefs known in very subtle but still informative ways that allow anyone reading to understand how you feel. I thought that political issues were to be omitted here but see that that is not the case.4

Heather and Kate - sorry to hear England lost - Whether a person enjoys watching sports or not, it's still nice to have a team the country can get behind and cheer on.
Allie - I bet you'll do just fine on the exam tomorrow. Deep breaths. Good luck with the lawyer!
Barbie - hope they can get Jake squared away. Does he have to go to Seattle or are they dealing with it locally? Glad you are making up on the steps!! Was there any doubt? LOL
Wendy - have a safe drive to get your daughter. What a blessing you are now retired and don't have the job hanging over your head when you are needed for family emergencies like this.
Doctor emailed lab results a few minutes ago - whew, a good surprise. A miracle! For you in the medical field, A1C went down to 5.4 from 5.6 when taken last November. Despite my sugar binging, all I can think of is the 12 or 14 hour fasting I've been doing on and off over the past couple months might have smoothed things out as far as glucose in my system. I was seriously worried it would be up toward 6.
I'm not sure how this all works so am surmising. Input welcome! At any rate, continuing to wait until mid-morning before eating (14 to 15 hours) seems like a really good thing. And of course, keeping away from the added sugar.
Just finished picking a container of blueberries at my neighbor's and stuck a few bags in the freezer.
Have a good evening!

wendy. So sorry your daughter is struggling again. But so good that you can help and support her with your presence
Allie one question at a time, one step at a time, you’ve got this.
Barbie. Glad you were able to get your activity level back to your comfort zone!
Heat wave coming back, but am staying on track with my July goals so far.

I hope this doesn’t get too political, I have enough of that on my Facebook with my FIL. Lol2
