kelly have the best time with dear Joaquin, and enjoy your time off as well, we’ll deserved.
I feel quite spoiled by this weather, shouldn’t jinx it I guess. Will spend time working in the garden now that I’ve got my exercise done.
One thing I’ve noticed about my new habits—I committed to a few things at the start of vacation, a new place and a new schedule acted as a jumpstart to establish the habits and I’ve been tracking with a bullet journal—it’s working—fingers crossed and I think it’s a powerful strategy

drkatiebug wrote: »Ok, talk to me about kumbucha. I know some of you drink it regularly. I had a coupon for $1.50 off, so I bought one pineapple peach flavored one to try. How much do you drink in a day? What exactly is it good for! I had six ounces with breakfast. It .......... wasn’t bad. It was expensive, even with the coupon. I just bought the one, in case it was yukky, but I think I could swing it if the benefits are worth it. I had just never heard of it until I heard it mentioned on here.
I’d love to know too! I have tried it and loved it- but it was too expensive to buy a bottle often and I figured if several ounces and daily were necessary that it was something out of my budget. Since my job went full time we have a tiny bit more wiggle room in the budget so I also would be interested in knowing.1 -
Woo Hoo, Lucky for me Friday the 13th. Wii announced fewer lbs this morning. Only updated a little less than half the reported reduction. Woo HOO!
Meg ((hugs)) panic attacks are so debilitating. Hope Max is not in pain.
Rita That RV ranch looks very appealing, I'd have been tempted to stay longer... ;}
Gamelia 20K steps ConVERYgrats! You're right up there with Barbie!
Margaret power of attorney does give pause. Even trusting Joe with such like gives me a wobble, sometimes our views are VERY different. LOVE (and covet) the pool and murals!
pip so very glad at least your bosses wife does the right thing. Ride ON!
Allie so sorry the test was so rough. Last week at dog group a gal told about a Portland? school that had CGC certified dogs at the school gym on test days. The kids got to pet the dogs before the tests. Significantly improved both test attendance and results. Could you sneak Alfie in to the next test?
Rebecca a lot of us have been just mentally or physically off this month. The good news is that we can climb back on the next minute.
ACK! Only up to pg 36. Will have to skip meditating/knee exercises AGAIN and fly through shower to T'ai Chi.
Relish the moment!

I have been enjoying all of the pics of grandchildren, proposals, weddings, horses, kitties and puppies, new places every one is visiting, etc. I kind of feel like I have also been in a kind of "funk" this week; but I think it is just the funk of being too busy to think about anything. I have a list of things that have had to get done and it will all be done by tonight. I will have a few things that I will need to work on while DD is here; but she has a busy schedule planned with catching up with friends and relatives, so I will have some time to myself. I am a bit ambivalent about how much time she is spending with SO many of her friends. It is, in general, only about 36 hours total out of our visit, but I am feeling like a spoiled child who doesn't want to share. I am breathing and not going to complain to her. She has set aside two full days when it will be just us. lol Maybe she will meet with her friends and leave Joaquin with me... Am I the biggest spoiled baby, or WHAT?!
Well, on with the day! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
Not a baby, a very human person who is looking forward to time with her family. You should suggest that you would happily watch Joaquin when she visits friends. She might be happy to take you up on the offer where she might have been reluctant to ask due to your job being taking care of so many youngsters.
You make sure to take care of yourself! Hugs1 -
Katie and Rye I drink Kombucha for the probiotics like I eat plain yogurt for the same reason. I just drink a small glass with a meal. I drink it in a wine glass. A bottle lasts me one to two days. I agree it is pricey. Then so is a bag of chips. The current theory is probiotics are good for your gut along with eating fruits and veggies to help the beneficial bacteria grow. You can make your own. I have not tried that thus far. It uses the sugar from fruit juice or cane sugar to ferment, so most if not all the sugar is turned into healthful bacteria. They say there is a trace amount of alcohol in it so if alcohol is a problem for you use with caution.
I started about two years ago drinking it. I did notice I have few colds and infections when I started drinking it. It is subjective on my part. Some brands will add Stevia to make it sweeter and or carbonate it to make it more appealing. I do not mind the carbonation. Although I learned not to store it in the door of the refrigerator because it fizzed over. I do not care for Stevia so I stay clear of those brands. My favorites are Gingerberry and Gingeraide.

Had a much better day today.
I've typed out my speech for tomorrow in BIG letters, so I won't have to wear my reading glasses. It's not word for word, but I should be able to fill in the gaps. Part of me is really scared of doing it and another part is pleased and excited. It's probably one of the reasons I've been feeling off.
Also printed off instructions on how to get there.
Hope my son can make it with Max and Edie.
Printed my Amazon deposits in my bank account for the tax man.
This afternoon I've done 200 calories of recumbent bike while watching TV.
Salmon tonight with some of those zucchini and tomatoes.

Margaret: The Y pool walls are gorgeous!
CJ: Here is a quotation that will support your resolve: "There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man." Winsotn S. Churchill. It is true for many women, too.
Machka: It sounds like things are going well in your DH's recovery. I hope they continue to improve. I agree with Karen in VA that your response to this difficult situation is inspiring.
Pip: I'll look for the message. :smilei:
No yoga for me today because DH has an appointment with his eye doctor. I will be the driver, since this doctor does treatments that leave his eyes very sensitive for a while. While we are there, I'll have to deal with the glasses lens that they lost and had to reorder. I'm not sure I want it installed in my glasses & may just bring the lens home with me. It is paid for, after all. They told me the color might not match my original lens. What a mess. This is not cheap and not covered by insurance. :grumble:

When my girls were 6 and 8, in 1997 we moved from New Brunswick to Alberta. We have only all been back as a family once since then. Several times I have been back alone because of illnesses, deaths, etc. My Dad always made snide little comments about time I wanted to spend with anyone other than him. I understand that he just wanted time with me, but it ruined every trip I had home. I had to on several occasions tell him I was with him more than others. As a parent myself with a daughter that moved away I get it, but I sure wish some of those trips home had better memories attached to them especially now that he is no longer with us. I hope you and your daughter find the perfect balance

Thanks Margaret and Carol for the info on kumbucha. I think I will pick up a few bottles a week and give it a try. Maybe pretend it is a before dinner drink and put it in a wine glass as you suggested. Lol. Good point about the cost being similar to a bag of chips. I think I would like the ginger flavor, too. The peach pineapple is not bad either.2

Ok.... So two of my shirts have stains of a small circle on the upper right portion, above my right bra cup. So I'm trying to figure out what good item that I rest on my breast shelf. My cereal bowl, my coffee cup, my yogurt cup??? Aaack, whatever it was didn't come out in the wash! Frustrating!
Grocery shopping day. Buying all healthy items, and maybe a great or two! I'm up 2 lbs. Aack!
Such is life.
So this Dietland series.... Its just mental enough that I like it! The gal that's the main character was in a shell, life had no purpose, until this lady wanted to help her lose weight. The lady was the daughter of some wacko weight program the main character (Plum) was on. I watched all the episodes, and got up to speed!
Everyone meeting family, just enjoy each moment. Not having my family accessible makes me appreciate them all the more. Having no friends here, makes me unsettled. Husband and I need to get out more, and I need to get in situations where I can meet people. This house, though, is quite my safe haven, and I am a happy homebody. Which isn't a bad thing. My singing at the shops this week was my first baby step, in making my mark on this island.
Hugs!

Rebecca, you are living where I'd love to retire! I love the entire area and dream of having to take a ferry to get somewhere. I love fog, and rain, and wind. Maybe that's due to living through so many droughts here in N. CA. I also find the "tropical beach" thing boring. I like crashing waves and rocks.
It takes time to meet new people, and at our age, quite a bit of effort. Taking your walks to town is a fantastic start. I'd take a pottery class, or maybe a glass making thing (thinking of your glass beads). You could also check out a Meetup group for an interest you have like reading, hiking, etc.2 -

Hello friends~ I started my "journey" July 1st and I have been very focused. 1600 cals. per day, tracking macros, 30 minutes (minimum) of exercise 5-6 days per week but I am only down a pound as of this morning. I know, I know, I am expecting miracles, LOL. I am 54 years young and in the throws of the big "M", just curious if any of you out there are in the same situation as me. I am not discouraged as I know this is a journey. Come August 1st I am hoping to see a total of 4-5 pound loss. Looking to connect with folks like me.4

You are so right, I takes time, and some creative effort on my part. Maybe I might start to attend TOPS again. Or I could be brave and attend a rock painting party. Its hard to put your foot into established groups of friends. I tend to be the clown, when I'm uneasy.
Right now I need to get thru my surgery this Tuesday smoothly. Time to be brave!
I like dramatic waves, its pure nature rearing its majestic head, and I respect it so much!

Hi all
: Busy time, rehearsal dinner tonight and Dson's wedding tomorrow. Don't know if my mom will make it or not. My sister is being a poop. They were supposed to be here before the 4th and bring mom up for the wedding. Then their DD came to their house with her kids and they decided to stay there and come up here after they were gone. I understand wanting to see and celebrate with her grandkids. But she afterwards made a Dr.'s appointment for this past Wednesday. It takes them 2 days to drive from Northern Cal to our place north of Seattle. They supposedly left yesterday so may get here tonight but probably not in time for the rehearsal dinner. Sister got one of those online certificates that allows her to do marriages, went out and bought a fancy robe. She is frustrated and angry because my son and his fiance will not allow her to officiate at their wedding and her own son and his fiance will not allow to officiate at their wedding either. This is my son's 2nd wedding and they are keeping it very small so did not even invite DS and DBIL. Had we known they were going to be so stinky about it we would have flown mom up for the weddings. I am taking lorazepam, trying to keep busy and not eat.
We have a bumper crop of blueberries this year after babying the bushes for 3 years. Yum, yum!
Allie - Sorry about the results of the tests.
Kelli - You enjoy that boy!
Bandit is pretty sure he knows what is at the end of the rainbow.

Kelly - give Joaquin a big hug from me. He is a doll.
One of the things I love about retirement is having the time to cook. I never really cooked before since it is just me.
I stopped at an East Texas farm stand for tomatoes on my way home from visiting my mom over the 4th. A large basket of delicious home grown tomatoes for $5.00. There was more than I could use, so I made Southern Summer Tomato Pie. It is really good. I am always slightly amazed when my dishes turn out good.

Skippity-Do-Dah - Have not read the past 10 pages - but as for Facebook; I deleted 2 accounts; then found a way to get back in under a different method; so if I get tired of it, I will deactivate it … easy to do and not permanent. Between my middle sister and oldest son's wife - I get way more politics and drama. Thankfully, as of this moment Jenn has not asked me to be her friend; although son got an earful as to why I unfriended her (short story, she unfriended me first because my oldest sister reamed her a 'new' one because of her settings, very loose; like her mouth. Louis is just amazed at the 'personal information' about others that she seems to know and wants to know if people put their business out on it or if she just asks. I don't know; but, I have a total of 79 friends, most just close family members and former HS classmates and a few from here. I'll get to a point of just reading and not commenting other than a 'like' or something like that. One day, I got 15 posts one right after another from sister, who is one who cannot 'just let it go and realize that her politician did not win'. Get a life; get over it, let Trump 'try' to do his job and don't worry - worrying never added a day to our lives and it just messes up the present. Youngest son won't have an account; and isn't very happy that Tami has one. But, the charter school where Mallory attends uses FB in order to announce things, so she does keep it. But, she told her clients to STOP texting/posting for appointments because she might not even see them if she is out at the lake house (they don't get good reception out there so she just turns it off). That created problems between both DDsnL. I just don't even get into it … it can be so petty. But, when Will is 'finished' with someone … there is 'no going back for him'. So the fact that he just does not care for 'her' means that they will probably 'never' come back to Georgia to visit. He still has a good relationship with his brother, except when Will calls his Dad on his cellphone and because Louis is hard of hearing he has it turned way up and Trey can hear Will's comments. Example: Will does not think that Louis ought to be cutting the grass. Or that Trey needs to 'find a job' other than working for his Dad, especially since he has NO desire to take over the business because of finding 'help'.
I'm doing my best to take a positive outlook on life and not getting into the petty gossip or trying to change anyone.
Well, I usually do try to keep up reading MFP; but, even then, I get overwhelmed and just don't do it. At the moment, I haven't been tracking my food; but, I don't think it has made much difference. I meant to weigh myself when I went to GNC and pay the extra dollar for the extra information such as % of water, fat, muscle, and BMI, and forgot to do it. Trey was in a hot, big hurry.

Becca: Your singing is a gift. I'll bet there is a choir somewhere nearby that needs your voice and has people who might become your friends if you join. Church choirs are also great place to meet other singers. So are community choirs. Friends of ours were active in a community choir for many years. Good luck with your surgery. :flowerforyou:
Sue: Congratulations on the wedding of your DS. I hope it all works out very well. :flowerforyou: Bandit is gorgeous and smart. He knows who is responsible for the good things in his life.
cbessell67: Welcome! There are many motivated friends in this group. You can join us by clicking on the blank star at the top of the page. It will turn yellow. Then you can find us again by clicking on the yellow star.
The replacement lens is installed in my glasses frame and I brought the original one home with me. It is placed carefully in a labeled glasses case so I can find it if I end up wanting to change back. Right now, I'm feeling comfortable with the new one. We'll give it time and see how I feel about it in a few days.
