A quick hello and some updates on what has been distracting me from this thread:
(1) DH had both cataracts removed one week apart. The schedule for medicinal eye drops is making us both crazy. Now, he's going through that awkward period where his prescription glasses don't work for him, and I have to explain over and over that this is normal and eventually we'll get him new glasses.
(2) My DB is visiting from California. It's been a long time since we spent any quality time together, so I am relishing having his company and being a doting big sis. He has adopted intermittent fasting, much to my surprise. He walks every morning and has been to the pool twice since arriving on Tuesday. He doesn't look well, however, and I'm really concerned about his weight and some other liver-related issues.
(3) The mantle-makeover project makes a mess of the living room every Saturday. Stupid drywall dust gets everywhere and every scratch in the floor is magnified once the dust settles into them. I'll be glad when my handyman gets past this stage. Ugh.
(4) Then, our only car required a repair, which my regular mechanic could not diagnose. Fortunately, the day before on Nextdoor.com there was a discussion about best places to take Subarus, so I found my new mechanic pretty easily, and it's all taken care of. Nothing major, thank god.
Tomorrow, I'll take DB and DH down to Colorado Springs to see some sights. The days have been clear, warm and dry. Glorious. Next week, we'll head to the western slope of Colorado for 3 nights and even more touring through some beautiful national parks, mountain towns, forests and hot springs. Can hardly wait.
Sending energy and healing thoughts to everyone who needs it. Stay well. Think healthy. We can do this.

Went to the water aerobics class. The plan for tomorrow is to do Michelle Doizois’s Cardio Strength Fat Blaster DVD
M – I double everything KJ said about you. Congrats on completing your program! So proud of you
Sun just came out so I think I’ll go in the pool. Cut the grass and weedwacked
Sherndon – welcome to the group! MFP and the “m” group. For years I’ve been at the same weight, up maybe a pound or two, down a pound or two, but always in the same ballpark (at least it isn’t going way up). Just recently now that M has struck, I find that no matter what I do, there is this flab. Someone recommended that I restrict my carbs, which is real hard since I absolutely love my fruits and veggies. Cookies, cakes etc. don’t really call my name. But a sweet, fresh peach – look out!
Rebecca – good luck to you. I’ll be thinking of you Tuesday. I love purple potatoes as much as I love sweet potatoes.
Kelly – kiss Joaquin for me
Lenora – always good to hear from you
Cbessell – welcome!
Rori – boy, things have really been hopping for you. Thanks so much for checking in.

Rori: Your travel plans to Colorado destinations sound lovely. Our son was stationed at Colorado Springs for a while and we love the area. I suspect you'll have a good time. The western slope is uncharted territory for us. I hope you'll take pictures and tell stories when you get home. :flowerforyou:
We are contemplating a new adventure in our RV. It is in the shop for work we want done at the moment, but won't be there for long. We're looking at old favorite places close enough to home to make them easy destinations and 2 or 3 day stays rather than a week.

July 2018 Resolutions:
1. Log every bite and swallow.
2. Cardio exercise at least 3 days a week. Work on strength and stamina.
3. Have fun every day.
4. Drink at least 3 glasses of water a day.
5. Monitor sleep. Average 7 or more hours of sleep nightly.
6. Avoid alcohol.

Machka "Tired this month" small wonder! Hope the weekend is restful and restorative. Ditto what Karen in VA said.
Margaret and Carol, thanks for the Kombucha info. Have a friend who makes it and it is yummy. Then she showed us the "mother". Yuck. Doubt I could trust myself to be careful enough to avoid contamination or over fermenting so won't be making it at home. At this point it's too spendy for me to incorporate daily, but if conditions change/warrant I'll reconsider. Someone mentioned ginger or turmeric kombucha, now THAT I'd try, if I could find it!
KJ so looking forward to new Joaquin pics
Katla lens "color might not match" original? Pfaugh!
Rebecca "shelf" mystery circular stains... hmm. . . Alien saucer landings? What DebCountsAll, Katla and Barbie said, taking a class in an activity that interests you is the best way to meet folk with similar interests... and you can choose your level of involvement! Keeping good thoughts for Thursday.
Sue in Wa Beautiful pic, lucky Bandit!
Lenora "not getting into the petty gossip or trying to change anyone." Wise words, gal friend.
Rori so glad your car got fixed in time for your western slope trip, which sounds delightful. Thank Goodness for Nextdoor.com, keeps us apprised of the critter sightings, this week it's a bear and her two cubs up a few ridges and a pea hen eatin' cougar within a half mile [shudder]. Joe's hooked up an extra flood light down on the driveway we can switch on and off from the house. He's been great about coming up with critter deterrent ideas AND implementing them.
Welcome sherndon, cbessel. Let us know what you'd like to be called and a general location so we can keep you straight.
Fell asleep during massage today, so glad therapist is immune to my snoring! Up at oh dark thirty tomorrow to car pool with new T'ai Chi buddy to dog show in Bandon. Looking forward to getting to know her better.
Slacking on knee exercises has taken its toll. Time to get down on the floor NOW.
Sleep sweet, lovelies!

Good morning!
Got out for my run by 6.15. It rained a lot yesterday, thank goodness, but today will be bright and warm for the renewal of vows ceremony.
I listened to Who Knows Where the Time Goes on my podcast and then went back to my old running play list, which I haven't listened to for weeks!
I'm nervous about my speech and poem reading, but I know it will be fine. Going to wear my long Mexican dress that I wore on the cruise, with my red, tasselled earrings. The dress code is "summer". There is a disco in the evening. Hope Max and Edie and my son make it over.

Saturday -- chilly but nice winter's day.
My husband and I walked about 900 metres to a local grocery store and back plus a bit. Then we wandered around our yard.
And then I rode the trainer for an hour ...
Distance: 23.60km
Elevation: 203m
Moving Time: 1:03:44
Elapsed Time: 1:04:05
..................... Avg ................ Max
Speed ............. 22.2km/h ........ 54.0km/h
Heart Rate ...... 130bpm .......... 150bpm
Cadence ......... 79 ................. 123
Power ............ 89W .............. 201W
We need to set up trainer for my husband.
Problem: cannot put Bike Friday on trainer, but need step-thru of some sort.
I had hoped that I could adjust our JetBlack trainer so that the small wheels of the Bike Friday would fit. There is some adjustment, but not enough.
So now ... I either need to find a more adjustable trainer or locate a step-thru of some sort that will fit Rowan.
Or find a decent stationary bike, I suppose, but he'd like to use Zwift with me.

Rori I hope your project is completed soon. We are getting new carpet for our basement. I decided to paint it so it has been torn up for over a month. The carpet is ordered now so the end is in sight.Fortunately it is not in our main living area.
Allie have fun at the wedding.
Lenora good to see you post.

Allie Sending energy.

Greetings from Ohio!
Will be short as I need to get ready for work, but wanted to pop in. I agree with the being off this month. My DH keeps asking if I am okay.....I really am okay, just off. I did manage to get over 7 hours of sleep for the past 2 nights! Sure beats the 5 I had been getting
We have been working on the model a wiring since Wednesday after work. Massage was wonderful on Monday. Painted wine glasses with ladies group on Tuesday. I will have to post pic when get on computer. App won't let me Tonight I get to spend time with both my daughters at a Norwex party. Oldest will be spending night with me. No car shows this weekend as the shelby is at the beauty shop. At 11 years old, she needed some extra TLC. Have to drive yo Detroit on Monday for my husband's eye appointment. It is about a 3.5 hour drive one way. We go every 8 months.
Knee exercises? Tips? My right one still bothering me badly. Arthritis and an old injury.
Ladies.....you all continue to inspire me with your strengths, ideas, commitment, and love. Remember you are each special and important!
Prayers to those in need!
Congrats to all the successes!

Good morning all! Happy Saturday! DD and Joaquin's flight got delayed by almost two hours! They landed at 1:45 am and arrived home (my house) at about 3am. I woke up when I heard them come in. Joaquin was asleep, so we just tucked him in and all went to sleep. lol Hardest thing I ever did, getting back to sleep. I have been awake since 5:30, drinking coffee and waiting. But they are here, safe and sound! I wrote out DD's schedule in my agenda and seeing the parade of friends written throughout the week has shown me that I will have plenty of time with them. So I have mellowed a bit on the sharing thing!
Just made an omelet for DH, kind of hoping that the smell would wake up the baby; no such luck!
Rori- So glad to hear from you! Sorry about your DH's eye troubles, but happy you get to spend some time with your brother. Enjoy your day out!
Rebecca- I agree with the ladies who are urging you to find a choir/singing group to join! You love to sing and it would be a great way to meet people in the community plus give back! Sounds right up your alley!
Allie-Wow! That is a lot of steps! So sorry you are sore and I would imagine "bone tired!". Get some rest and hopefully a good night's sleep will have you feeling a bit better!
Heather- I can hear a little anxiousness in your words. I am sure you will be just fine. In fact, by the time I am writing this, your moment at the celebration will be over and I am sure you will have done your job beautifully! I feel for you with the funk our DH's go into when their team doesn't win. Cheers to your DH; next year is another chance for championship status!
Pip- Hugs for you and Kirby! Forgot to say Happy Birthday to your man! Happy Belated birthday Kirby! Hugs for you and your job situation.
Welcome to all of the newbies!
Sending thoughts of love, peace, strength and healing to all who need it! I have plans this week to make/grill alot and NOT splurge too much. But I have also decided to cut myself a little slack with the Lauren and Joaquin here. You know I will be taking pictures and will post a few here. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Thank you everyone who is sending me strength and love for my speech. I will carry you with me when I stand up and walk to the front. I've practised and I have good notes and I can always resort to the poem, US TWO, if I dry up! That won't happen of course. Just hope my papers don't shake too much.
I can do this, I've done it before, but I am always absolutely s******g myself before hand. I was listening to an interview with Maggie Smith the other day and she said she was always terrified. Judi Dench said the same thing. So I'm in good company.
Lots of love, Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
Heather - Good luck! You’ve got this!
KJ - Can’t wait to see photos! Enjoy every minute you can with the kids!
Machka - Can any of your cycling friends loan you what you need? Continued hugs and prayers.
I think I’ll go to the local farmers market this morning. It will get me out of the house. Hopefully my landscape guys show up this morning to finish. They left a big pile of dirt/mulch in the street and another on the side of our shop.
Happy Saturday!

Unfortunately, most of our cycling friends are scattered around the world. When I posted what we were thinking of doing, I've had 2 responses so far ... one from a cycling friend in Oregon and one from a cycling friend in Manitoba.
And it can be a little bit harder to locate what we need here in Australia. Shipping and all that.

Am going to make myself go to the mall and look for a pair of pants that fit. Hate, hate, hate shopping. Haven't been to the mall in over a year.7

Heather keep us all in your pocket! and have a wonderful time.
Kelly by the time I'm writing this, I'll bet you've gotten in a cuddle with Joaquin
Rori glad you checked in, the demo phase of every project is lousy, as is the healing portion of any procedure, sending and strength.
Ladies, you all could have predicted this I'm sure, the squirrel's have returned , they literally chewed through the wood around the metal screen to get back in the attic. Needless to say, I'm *&*#*# and will spend the day trying to not be angry with DH who is now barking ideas around. My idea? Bring back our wonderful handyman and let him take care of it, after all we paid him!!!

I'm new here and 53 years old. I lost about 29 lbs last year, but gained most of it back. I just restarted again about 3 weeks ago. I started out the first 1-2 weeks with the scale going down steadily then all the sudden it went back up 2 lbs and has been fluctuating up and down a pound or two at the same weight for about a week now. It has to be the monthly hormonal thing. I'm eating low calorie 1500 for my height, age, weight and physical activity. Low carb under 70 grams generally under 40-50 and drinking 80+ ounces or more of water a day. walking 30 minutes 4-5 days a week. Just so frustrating and discouraging, but I'm hanging in.9
