Went to the deep water class today. Haven’t been there in 2 weeks. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Kelly Coffee Meyer NYC Body Sculpting Workout (another new one)
Rye – when Vince worked for Mars, you could smell the chocolate all around the plant. That is, unless they were roasting the peanuts that day. Then you could smell the peanuts. Did you get to take a tour of that plant? We got to take a tour of the Mars plant (it isn’t open to the general public). One thing I can absolutely tell you, they are VERY VERY focused on sanitation and a quality product. I remember Vince one time telling me how one of the Mars brothers bought a candy bar in an airport one time. The seal on the wrapper was coming off. So when he got back to McClain VA (their headquarters) he had a case of that product shipped there. Then he had the product line manager come there and he fired him!
M – please take are of yourself. You’ve been under a lot of stress lately.
Katla – are you on your city council? Is that why you’re at all the meetings?
Galinazo – you joined by posting! Be sure to bookmark this page and come back often
Pip – you sure don’t look depressed!
Tracey – I'm so sorry about your job
Looks like I need a new (we’re getting a used) transmission. But the good news is that the Mazda dealer will give us credit for the money we already spent. We figure we’ll get a rebuilt transmission and then look for a new car for me (new being used). Without a working transmission, the value of the car is $0. So with a used transmission we might get $1300 on a trade-in.
Frankiesgirl – I weigh myself on the Wii every day, but I really don’t think about that number too much. My official weigh-in is on Saturday.
Lisa – welcome! Of course you can join!!!!!!
Katla and barbie – well, Vince told me tonight that he’s decided that unless there’s a MAJOR change, he won’t be running for Treasurer next year. I honestly don’t feel like continuing with hospitality and membership. Well, Vince and I being in the same house made memebrship convenient. And I’ve done hospitality for 5 years now. The truth of the matter is that Vince had to be at the board and general meetings so I didn’t have a problem being there. If he’s not Treasurer so doesn’t need to be at the meetings, I don’t see a reason why I need to be there all the time.
Had ceramics tonight, then went to Lowes Foods and Publix for things on sale. I should have gotten my cottage cheese at Publix (they’re the only ones who sell it) but I totally forgot. Well, maybe next time.

Barbie: It sounds like you have a good plan for your MRI. I hope it helps you resolve the problems you've been having with your health. :flowerforyou:
Michele: I'm on the City Planning Commission, not the City Council. We review building and land use projects. If we make a decision and the person doesn't like it, they can appeal it to the City Council. I've really enjoyed participating in this process.
Air quality this evening seems a tiny bit better but I can still see haze in the air and my eyes feel irritated. The poor air quality from the fires this year is giving me a headache. :grumble:

I’m checking in. I’ve been reading but not a lot to say. I’m in a bit of a funk because the weight has been creeping up since I broke my ankle. My leg continues to swell. I just feel fat and ugly. I’m getting my hair cut tomorrow. Hopefully that will help. I’m wondering if the scale is really up because of water retention related to the swelling in my legs. I’m going to ask the doctor about it on Monday.
I have been making it to the gym three times a week for weight lifting. I walked on the treadmill for 35 minutes on Monday and walked 3 miles outside yesterday. My knee was so swollen that I skipped walking today. I did 10 minutes on the elliptical then 6 shoulder exercises, 3 sets of 15 reps each. Then grocery shopping, then 3 hours of helping my friend pack. Then a nap.
I turned down another job today that I did not apply for. This one was for a college algebra class at the local tech school. I would have enjoyed this one if I were actually looking to go back to work or if it had been in the afternoon so I could still work out in the morning.
My husband’s best friend had a heart attack. He’s been in ICU, but is home now and recovering. We are going to visit on Saturday.
I’m just full of joy and cheer today. I’m so sorry.6 -
Hi Sisters, I had fun today. I went treasure hunting with the idea that I'd like to get a Shire Hobbit inspired in-hand outfit to show Esmerelda at an upcoming horse show. I wanted a red velvet jacket in particular. I found one, as well as a blouse with pink lace at the cuffs and collar and a little black hat. (cost less than $20 NZ!) So I put togethere this possible ensemble. I could try black, grey or fawn jhods. What do you'all think?
I got some other treasures too! Will show you those soon... Wendy

Hi everyone! What I find in your stories and posts are hope, warmth, kindness and truth, the sharing of joys and sorrows is grounding and inspiring to me. Choice by choice we move forward towards our goals, good days and bad days but forward we go. It has been a bit of a crazy week for me. Concert Thursday (Hall & Oats + Train) was great, finished the night at a local jam and got some dancing in. Friday unexpected visitor from out of town - my niece and her two teenagers made for some great memories but horrible food choices, tastey but...I forgiven myself already. We had to go grocery shopping because I had plenty of produce but - no "food" is how my grand niece put it. They went home yesterday and I toted cereal, cookies, chips, bread, lunchmeat and half eaten boxes of crackers to the dumpster this morning. Cheese (Tillamook pepper jack) and ice cream I just couldn't bear to part with - yikes. I did get some exercise in - took them to the local amusment park (Oaks Park) for rides, roller skating - snow cones and cotton candy be damned! Day 2 - Waterfront park was fun, lots of walking - and the elephant ears were delicious. Day 3 back to school shopping for the kids, their energy and excitment was infectious but I am pooped. So it goes. Back to the basic plan...hopefully.
Moral of the story - enjoy each day, each moment and do the best you can.

Quick hello from capetown. DH has caught a horrible nogood very bad cold. And you know how husbands handle being sick No sleep but we’re soldiering in. Taking light rail about an hour from here to see the penguins!! That will cheer me up and will get a good nights sleep tonight.

Karen, my sympathies to your hubby. I always get sick after flying and often my ears get blocked too and I am miserable. I love to travel, but I hate getting sick from flying so I will probably travel within NZ more, instead of over waters. Hope your hubby gets on top of if quickly, Wendy1

Barbie - So sorry to hear it may be ANOTHER operation. My sympathies. It must be even more frustrating than my house move delays.
Karen - Colds on holiday are miserable. Just when you want to be on top form. Grrrrrrrrrr! Hope you don't catch it from him.
Our trip to the pub for dinner last night was a great success. It certainly served its purpose, which was to divert DH from his IBS and anxiety. I chose prawns and duck and watermelon salad with a medium glass of white wine, so not too bad calorie wise. DH had fish and chips with peas and had a pint of beer. He really enjoyed it. We rarely go out just by ourselves unless we are on holiday, but it was definitely a good idea of mine. I still woke up in the night worrying about moving dates and so did he, but I moved into the spare room and read and eventually went back to sleep.
It was pouring with rain this morning so didn't go out running.
This afternoon I am planning another outing for the two of us (we need to get out more together) to a Homesense store a short drive away. I've been looking for a couple of new cushions for my sofa for ages and just feel like getting out. I so rarely go house or clothes shopping as I do nearly all of it online, but it will be something to do to help DH. We are inclined to just stay around the house and sometimes I don't go out for days except to run.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
Wendy, love your pics, love your spirit. When I see pictures of you, I can just imagine your laughter, and they always make me happy.
Katiebug - we're here for those times, too. Please don't apologize. If it helps any, I kind of have the opposite viewpoint--my sister and I joke about it. Instead of looking in the mirror and seeing a chunky chick, I often think, "She needs a cheeseburger or something, too skinny." Of course, that's when I'm looking at my face and my neck, not my posterior!
All... been reading, and you have helped me re-center myself this morning. Yesterday was just... bad. I work remotely for a reason, not least because I despise getting caught up in office political and emotional flaps. Landed myself right in the middle of one yesterday, largely due to the fact that there was no communication with me on the status on a particular grant. I got thrown under a bus, and still scrubbing off the tire tracks. Also hate the fact that still, at 58 years old, when I'm angry, the tears start, which makes me angrier, which makes the tears flow, and people think it's grief or sadness. It is NOT. Will I ever grow out of that?
But, today I am out of that hothouse of a headquarters building, working on my own terms, with the help I need at my disposal, and a couple hours of road time to talk to her on how to navigate the grant waters. I will be more than OK. Talked to Corey for the last hour as well, and he always helps me understand the testosterone-fueled point of view, which is also helpful.

I was thrown under the bus at my last place of employment and it sucks. I too cried which didn't help the situation at all. Got written up in my work file. Which slammed me. I left there and made it known with letters that it was intolerable how the situation was handled and refused to sign the forms!
Hang in there. You are great at what you do!

Happy Thursday! Got a 40 minute walk in this AM - the dog is good for me that way! Dreary day here in WI. some of it is being blamed on smoke, but it is so minor. I feel for all of you in the smoke and fire areas. Devastating.
Wendy - love your outfit. Looks great!
Barbie- Good luck with the MRI. Steps to feeling better. I hope it all works
Lisa in TX - I too hate bad days at work and when my tears hit. I easily tear up. Always have. Doesn't work well in an authority position at work. I try all the tricks. Sometimes they work. Great job on pulling up the boot straps and moving on today.
Have a great day!

I looked up what is recommended for the intake of fiber and found I was right on where I need to be. No gain or loss. I feel good and am down a total of 17 pounds still. So happy about that. I have fiber as one of my parts of my diet I track. I did this in settings.
"The national fiber recommendations are 30 to 38 grams a day for men and 25 grams a day for women between 18 and 50 years old, and 21 grams a day if a woman is 51 and older. Another general guideline is to get 14 grams of fiber for every 1,000 calories in your diet.Jun 2, 2011"
Thanks to you & anyone else for posting fiber info. I could use a bit more about what you count on to get your fiber. Nuts, cereal ?
PIP.......Even heavier, you both look so happy!
BARBIE...... it’s not easy when age related med news isn’t what you want to hear.Being so healthy, maybe it just needs more time to heal? Hope you are soon back to your normal self.
ALLIE,sounds like a good realtor is what you need now.
TERRY,you are doing great! Bet you slept good.
LISA our NC DD works a similar job with travel involved. Not an easy job at all.
Home 2 days ago from 5 days in NC visiting DD,along with other DD &DSIL.Our only GRDaughter & BF came for 3 days.So quite a houseful ,coming & going, eating out. I did very well, put my top food number in MFP for 6 days, then kept an eye on amounts. Their wi fi was out & that was a good thing. We all just talked & talked,a great visit.
Grdaughter brought her
Golden-doodle.Smart & well behaved dog.Ate fresh peaches & came home with a dozen just picked. They are huge, juicy & so yummy. That was breakfast today.
Does anyone use the automatic sweeper? Like Shark or Roomba? Grdaughter loves hers & DD is looking for Santa to deliver. LoL. I am interested. A regular vacuum sweeper gets heavier as I get older. DH says.......we don’t need it,but neither does he use the vacuum.Would use on one level.
Temp dropped after rain last nt. Have my days food posted, house is done & my plans are to make a stuffed pepper for supper, will also have DD’s white corn she froze. Then ,book to read,a couple taped shows to watch & just to think how much I love my family. Gonna be a good day..........hope the same for all of you.

Another cry when I’m angry gal.
Spent yesterday with brother and father. The family drama was minimal, and both are looking Far Better than I anticipated. Due in large part to the puppy rescue dog they got a few months ago.
A LOT of emotions last night as brother and I took over the balcony where husband and friends were reconnecting. Brother has a lot of stuff to work out and I’m so glad he and I can connect even if he doesn’t talk to the other siblings.
The rescue dog makes it impossible not to smile every minute, btw.

RIP Aretha Franklin.... one of my favorite memories of her is in the classic Blues Brothers, belting out "THINK!". That will be my earworm today

Lisa, I also cry when I get mad. I’m just not a person that likes the mad feeling so I think that’s why I cry. If I have to confront someone I wait a few days before I confront them. Helps me not cry once I’ve had time to think about it and release some of the emotions. Of course you don’t always have the option of time.
Barbie, I hope your mri shows you what the problem is with your back. I’d rather know, even if it’s bad news, so that I can then move forward with a plan to fix the problem. Good luck.
Heather, glad going out helped your DH with his stress.

Wendy: I love your Hobbit inspired outfit. You look great in it.
Jazzypdx: I love Oaks Park but haven't been there in many years. The last time was for a birthday party for one of my kids, who are in their late 30s and early 40's now. My granddaughter is old enough to enjoy it, but the grandsons are all still too young, not to mention crazy far away. :ohwell:
(((Lisa)))
Heather: I love the pub photo. It is absolutely charming. :flowerforyou:
Pip: Your dogs look great in their bike helmets & jerseys.
We have cloudy skies today and it looks to me like the air quality is better than the past few days. YAY!!! There is a concert in the park this evening. It is only a short walk away, and I enjoy going with DH.

Ah well, never made it to boulder beach to see the penguins. DH couldn’t handle it, found some otc decongestant, and he napped most of the a.m. I walked 5 miles along the coast line, I love rainy beach days, very peaceful. Later found a little Thai place for takeaway tom yum soup for a late lunch. hope he’s better for our flight tomorrow—we see DD tomorrow night
Also, weight seems to be going down on this trip from all the activity and only eating 2xs per day. This afternoon I rode bike along the coast in a misty rain and felt strong!!

Pat in Ohio sounds like a great time you had! I have a Roomba and love it. Much of my first floor is all vinyl laminate and/or tile. Only one bedroom has carpet. So I set it to go and it picks up alot of stuff! I have 1 dog. It does go on carpet but instructions say that even with Roomba you should deep vacuum weekly. Well truth be told I don't vacuum my bedroom weekly even without roomba. Pitfalls - blankets, cords, shoelaces have to be off of the floor. Even some throw carpets it will get stuck and stop. I do have to empty the garbage bin every day- I am truly amazed at how much is in there. Not a big deal, it just isn't that big. It does not get corners, so every so often i sweep the corners out and right before I start the roomba. I love it for the hard surface areas. Would not live without it. I bought middle of the road roomba. not the cheapy, but not the most expensive. Some have mopping features now too! I know people have bought "lesser" named robot vacuums and like them. I did not spend a ton of time researching different brands. I had the money and wanted to get one (: Good luck!

Love sea side photos.
Pat for fiber I eat nuts, fruit like blueberries, raspberries, grapes, fruit in season like peaches now hopefully organic, and lots of veggies with some butter (grass fed if possible)so I get the most vitamins out of them. The only cereal I eat is whole grain like oatmeal or spelt. If you put it in your log they will MFP will figure your fiber count for you. I even eat the stem of broccoli I just make sure I cut it up well and cook it longer than the florets.2 -
Thanks for the pix NYKAREN.
Wendy, you look great! Black jodhpurs? I think of you every time "I Feel it Still" comes up on my play list when I'm running. I'm sure it was you that suggested it and it really suits you.
Our little trip out to the home store was great. I didn't buy any cushions because I thought I would wait and see what our new colourscheme is going to be first. Might change it completely.
Looked at cereal bowls, but they only had two of the ones we liked, so we didn't buy any. We did buy two small blue spotty coloured mugs and three plain white ones to go with the one we have. Very happy with them at £1 each. Also bought a brabantia frying pan with a blue enamel outside. My kitchen is very blue. Then we threw away three old chipped mugs.
We are having a very small fillet steak each tonight , with garlic butter. Broccoli and potatoes for DH. As a starter we are having corn on the cob. AF red wine.
Dessert our own gooseberries with homemade yoghurt.
I came back from the shop (we also went food shopping ) and went out for a 34 minute run. My poor body was saying "It's nap time, what are you doing? ! " Glad I burnt the extra calories though. I really had to force myself out of the door.

I hate being in holding patterns like this.

Hey Jazzy, nice to meet you! Grew up in Gresham area, went to Sam Barlow high school👍. Married a sailor so lived all over, mostly Japan and California. Portland sure has changed from when I lived there from 1962-1984. Lived on the coast near Astoria from 2012- this past April, and traveled into Portland periodically because husband received a liver transplant from OHSU in 2014. Now we're sharing a home with active duty son in Whidbey Island in Washington👍. Have a middle son and DIL in Vacouver WA, and the youngest son at school in Great Lakes just starting his military service. My life in a nutshell💗😁.
I am a Tillamook lover too. If I do have cheese its that. Loyal customer. Missing a Fred Meyer on the island though!
Have a great day!
